FELONS BEWARE!!! DO NOT STAY HERE!!! THIS PLACE IS A TRAP. STAY ANYWHERE BUT A WEEKLY MOTEL IN LAS VEGAS IF YOU PLAN ON STAYING FOR MORE THAN ONE DAY IN TOWN. I WAS NOT TOLD WHEN I CHECKED IN THAT THEY RUN BACKGROUNDS ON ALL THEIR TENNANTS AND AFTER TWO DAYS STAYING IN THIS COCKROACK INFESTED SLUM, I WAS ARRESTED AS WELL AS ABOUT 30 OTHER PEOPLE. MY BELONGINGS WERE STOLEN WHILE I WAS IN JAIL. AFTER POSTING BAIL, I REPORTED THE THEFT, AND THE MANAGMENT DENIED ANYONE BEING IN MY ROOM, RIGHT AFTER THEY SENT SOMEONE TO MY ROOM WHEN MY FIANCEE WENT THERE TO GET MY BELONGINGS. THIS PLACE NEEDS TO BE CONDEMMED BUT THE WAY THE POLICE ARE RAKING IN THE FELONS IN THIS PLACE BY NOT DISCLOSING THE FACT THAT THEY HAVE AN ARRRANGMENT WITH THE POLICE DEPARTMENT TO RUN EVERYONES BACKGROUND, THEY SIMPLY BARKED AT ME THAT IT WAS ON THE PAPERWORK WHEN I CHECKED IN. IT WAS NICE OF THE LADY WHO CHECKED ME IN TO POINT OUT WHERE THE POOL IS ON THE MAP, AND TO SHOW ME THE SHEET WITH ALL THE CABLE CHANNELS ON IT, BUT TO NOT MENTION THE SMALL "YOUR GOING TO JAIL IF YOU STAY HERE" PART. This is a great place to stay! Come on, no matter where you go anywhere near the casinos in Las Vegas, whether its the Bellagio or the MGM Grand...once you walk outside, you have to keep your guard up...but for the most part, if your not looking for any trouble, you wont find it! Then, on the other hand, if your looking for it, you will find it.
Hookers, drugs, whatever! This is Sin City remember!
Harbor Island has an excellent location and within 2 to 3 blocks of the famous Las Vegas Strip and where you can walk to Ballys, Flamingo, Alladin, Paris, Bellagio, Caesars and Barbary Coast. The Hardrock Hotel and Casino is even closer and right next door practically.
For Value, you wont beat this anywhere in Las Vegas!

And if things weren't bad enough for you people, I'm here to tell you it's just come to my attention that it's gotten even worse! You have a child chaser in your midst! Wayne Gerald Vanderlees is believed to reside at this apartment complex!
He was caught chatting sexually to what he thought was a 13yr old child who he went to meet, with intent to have sex!
But the "child" is an adult volunteer who works for an internet site that exposes preditors who search for children in local chatrooms or seeks out profiles in their area. It's called Perverted-Justice.com and so far this year, they have gotten 33 convictions in 22 States.

Hi! Welcome to beautiful Harbor Island... NOT!
When my family and I first arrived my mom got approach with a brochure, any drug you could imagine, and if the drug was not on there you check other. We had our truck broken into and stolen a few things and security did nothing. A girl that lived above us got raped and we did not even know until a moth after it happen and it was not even on the news or the police were not even involved. My mom got harassed several times, and security again did nothing. There was a unregistered sex offender who was trying and getting little kids to "clean" his apartment. And my friend recognized him in the jacuzzi and ran to tell security and guess what security did NOTHING. We had went several weeks without AC and we were on the waiting list. Managment is poor, they are selfish and ignorant.
And the last but not least my mom got a knife pulled out on her and security "arrested" her and "86ed" her.

Apparently, this place is going to be torn down no later than the end of 2006, so these comments may be moot. That being said, this is not a place to make a "home" in any case. I am staying here temporarily and only until I am ready to leave Las Vegas permanently. It is very expensive for what you get, and the quality of tenants is what you would expect from a place that doesn't bother with credit or criminal background checks. There is a lot of crime and an almost continuous police presence. On the bright side, this does make a decent place to stay for a while if your circumstances demand a quick move with little notice, or you work on or near the Strip and don't have easy tansportation to get to and from work.

Well, after one and one half years they finally got me to move. One of the security guards was trying to get my g/f to give him sexual favors and would let things slide concerning her young son. When the "wanna be cop" figured out he wasn't getting anywhere with her the bogus violations came. In Sept. 2005,
I got a 3 day notice to quit. I talked to Mike the manager and he referred me to MS. Personality, A.K.A Sharon and everything seemed O.K. Then the harrasment from security began big time. My girlfriends children were singled out many times as violating curfew, playing as children, etc, while other children were let to do as they pleased. (I wonder if deals were being made by said rent a cop). They pushed,I pushed and I received a 3 day notice the last of Dec, 2005. Again I talked to Mike and he was extremely rude and talked down to me. I had to eat the humble pie at that time. Talked to the lady with the personality of a brick and she refused to give me any time to find a place. I got a court date for Jan.11 2006. On Tueday, Jan. 3, Sharon came by, my girlfriend answered the door, (I schooled her on what to say and do), Sharon tried to push her way in (illegal), my girlfriend shut the door on Ms. Bricks foot. (lol). On Jan. 10,2006 roach infested Harbor Island Management locked me out. (Illegal). I proceeded to the office with a smile on my face and told them I wanted in my unit. The look on Sharon's face was priceless! Anyway, we got moved and later on that day (Tuesday Jan. 10)my g/f returned to be sure we got everything and the head of security,( another wanna be cop) kicked her off property. (illegal, the court date was Jan. 11,2005). If anyone is interested in joining me for a informational picket at Harbor Island or Preferred Management or any of the managers homes (legal under the 1st and 4th Amendments to the Constitution of the United States of America)please contact me at 702-860-6488. I currently reside here with my family and have been here for a month or so, I can tell you that this place is better than what it used to be. There are armed security here which actually seem to do their job most of the time. I would recommend it if you just need a place to stay for a few weeks, it isnt as badly kept as other weeklies, I have lived in one other. The crime seems to be kept up on although I heard a woman say she had her apartment broken into today, so who knows, but if you have little kids like we do I would suggest you not come here, the kids that play outside around here arent really well behaved, lots of bullies and they all hang out at the pool without supervision, ah well, enter at your own risk!

While staying here, my unit flooded from the 2nd floor, my new truck was stolen & shot with bullets [including smashing my back window out], my clothing & books were ruined from mold/flooding, the stench of raid & mold in my unit made me ill daily, the mgt. was rude, I was offered money for sex daily, my unit was broken into when I told the mgt. I would be out of town on vacation [big mistake, people, they are involved in the crime there so don't tell them anything], the security guards were fired & replaced with armed officers, people were shooting at each other between my builing & another, etc....
I could go on but why bother. When a weird black guy was trying to break into my unit at 6 am on 12/22/04, I elected to get a hotel for that night & moved out on Christmas Eve. Of course, the mgt. kept my rent for the month and hey, all this wonderful living for only $196.50 per week!

I have lived here for 5 months. Nicknamed "Felony Island", Harbour Island is a criminal infested stronghold of car thieves and crack dealers. The parking lot is riddled with cars with broken windows from stereo thefts, and it is almost impossible to walk around after dark without getting hit up for cigarettes or change. The building construction is terrible so when on an upper floor, anyone walking by will wake you up. Popular recreation activities for many residents are prostitution and domestic violence. This a weekly motel more than apartment complex, so keep that in mind. Good Luck if you move here, make sure you have full coverager on your auto insurance policy. But, it is extremely close to the best casinos.

Some of the desk staff were ok.Most lived on site and worked to pay rent so they had favourites.I had my laundry stolen.I reported it to the office and they said it happened all the time.The police were arresting people daily.
Great location for UNLV students or snowbirds though.

well I have lived here almost a month now, there are a few issues , but nothing that can't be fixed and there managment staff here is number one. and for the money this place is great. The pool is a nice place to hang out, and this place is close to almost everything..
