Date Visited: 05/10 - Bad
My wife and I moved in here in April 2008. The staff was great, the residents were very quiet, hardly ever any noise, or disruptions. Now it is quite a different situation. Yes, the outside looks respectable, but the inside isn't. We have had broken tiles in the kitchen (floor) that were supposed to be replaced after we had moved in, they have never been touched, the staff said "It would not be cost effective to replace them while you are living there." The seam in the linoleum of the hallway was coming up slightly, never repaired, made five requests, now it is a gaping hole in the linoleum. We cover it with a small rug. The dishwasher is mostly just a dish rinser, we use it for storage after the first month here and our electric and gas bill went down $45 (elec) and $25 (gas). There were large paint chips in the dining room, entryway and hallway before we moved in, the maintenance person smeared some white spakling paste on them and said "he would see about getting some paint". The drains in both bath tubs won't seal due to rot. The countertops and the sink in the kitchen have been sprayed with white epoxy that has turned yellow and is very badly peeled in the sink bowls. The peeled edges are sharp enough to cut you. Never repaired even after repeated requests. The refrigerator is a tiny used 15cu.ft. that has been repainted over its original olive green, the washer and dryer are approximately 20 years old, still working, but very noisy. The heat is by hot water from the water heater, costs about $45 in gas increase and $75 in electric for mild winter here. The A/C system has never been adequately serviced, our electric bill during the summer months averages $260 to keep the apartment at 78 degrees, it is 1050 sq.ft.
Our lease is due the end of June, we currently pay $900 rent, $42 cable fee and $50 for Water, Sewer and Trash per month for a total of $992 per month. Their current website advertises this unit for $661 rent per month (plus the above mentioned water/sewer/trash and cable fees). We were offered a new lease starting June 22nd for ... $942 plus fees. Don't move here, none of the old residents are staying, we will be moving too. It has become the Knife and Gun Club over the last year and is just not safe for anyone.
