I have lived here since may and I can say that its not as bad as everyone says. The staff is nice and the grounds are clean and taken care of. i don't know why everyone keeps sayin theres bugs cuz i havent had one bug in my unit the hole time i have been here. My a/c unit broke down once but the guy was pretty quick replacing it with a brand new one. i plan on staying here for a little longer just becasue of the location and i like were i am. and theres a bus route that is super close by. people only say things about places when they are pissed. nobody says something when their happy.

my experience in shelter island day one was crazy i had two flip flop on my hand just hitting the roaches left and right...this roaches where so trained the would set there and look at me cook cant even eat wow im like a prisoner in my own home so i called the front desk to send me some roach cleaning products never got it and when i called front desk to get my internet code she gave me attitude hung up on me twice i had to put my complaint to the corporate office cause this was ridiculous... roaches i let go no roaches cleaning products let that go but attitude and handing up on me now that is where it stop.......two thumb down

Good place to hang your hat for a while. You pay weekly but that's not so bad, once you get used to it. There's some excellent bars and restaurants within walking distance and you get free cable and phone with the rent. I was able to call my friends back East a lot and it didn't cost me a dime extra. They also have free high-speed internet, too, but I don't have a computer yet.
I give this place a thumbs up!

Me my husband and 2 of our friends rented two seperate apartments at Shelter Island. Our first day our did not work and was broght another unit, it worked but barely. The roaches in our and our friends apt was unbelievable. The management is incompitent and offered in room internet service, it soesnt work. I filled out the contract that says money would be refunded for the internet service if it did not work but the management told me in no uncertain terms NO REFUNDS even though I had it in writing. The drug activity and gang activity is outrageous too. I would rather take my chances sleeping in the park across the street than give this dump any money. Needless to say we stayed for three weeks and moved it was a terrible experiece and a bad impression of Vegas, and it was our first and probably last visit.

We lived here for several months, there was a murder downstairs from our apartment, cockroaches run the place, and the office people were totally incompitent when I told them about a family members apt having a very bad odor to it, they kept coming in and telling us there was no smell, when I asked "then why do all of us smell it" I was told that we were family, and we were all lying together, and this was from the one maintenence guy I thought was compitent! There is gangbangers galore and hooker heaven, stay away, you would be better off at Harbor Island, they arent owned by Bigelow Management anymore!

My air conditioner didn't work. They replaced it with another one that didn't work. Then they replaced it with another one that didn't work. Then they replaced it with another one that didn't work. I threatened to move out and was told "Don't think that you have the upper hand. . . ever" by the property manager, an alarming woman calling herself "Mary Jane Weinstein." I didn't have any idea what she meant by this, and moved out.
