The museum, a nonprofit tax-exempt corporation, strives to preserve and promote the history of people of African descent in Las Vegas, as well as across the US and abroad. The museum offers over 10,000 items consisting of ethnic dolls, art, artifacts, figurines, posters, prints, books, magazines, buttons, records, and personal items of renown African-Americans and must more. The museum's gift shop offers an array of afrocentric art, gifts, greeting cards, fashion and accessories.
The museum also publishes "Black Pioneers of Nevada," which highlights the accomplishments of Pioneers past and present. This is the only annual publication of its kind. The sixth edition honors 52 Pioneers.Ratings for Walker African-American Museum
