- Good Had read about Oatman, AZ in our AAA guidebook and it took a while to find the time to visit. August isn't the greatest month to visit but the surroundings, burros and the townspeople all made it worthwhile. If you have children, you can easily purchase carrots for the burros and they are so tame and used to the town, we were surprised when the gunfight in the main street began that the burros hardly even noticed. Beautiful area, well kept up shops and buildings and a really good look into the past and many thanks for the hardy residents of Oatman for taking such good care of our/their living museum.

- Undecided I think the town of Oatman would be a wonderful, fun town to tour IF I had been given the time to do so. Booked our tour through Showtime Tours and by the time they were done making all the "little stops" and touring the gold mine, all the shops in Oatman were closed. One shop owner said she couldn't believe a tour bus was dropping us off so late, that the drives all know what time the town closes. Now I can't get anyone at Showtime Tours to help me get a refund for not getting what I paid for. I will definately find a way to tour Oatman again, as it looked like a great town, but it will definately NOT be with Showtime Tours. Good luck to anyone booking with this tour company. Hope you get better service then I did.

- Good Never heard of Oatman, AZ until friends and family related their great time there. Fun old town with a gun fight show where they pass the hat for a good cause. Bring carrots or buy a bag for a dollar to feed the local residents (not the humans) Another great thing to see is the Oatman Gold Mine. For $12 you can see a real working (?) gold mine where you are guided by a miner who worked in the mine during its heyday. You wear a hardhat and go into the mine and see what it takes to be a miner. After a short ride in a mine mule trailer you walk into the mine where our guide, "Rusty" explains the operation of a modern mine of this type. The tour is safe and can be taken by all age groups. Lots of information to make this trip interesting and the visit back in town is enhanced by this information. Good visit all around.

- Good The mountainous portion of Rt.66 from Kingman to Oatman is part of the fun of the Oatman experience. It takes constant attention to the road and patience with slower traffic to survive the trip. Oatman is tacky, dusty and a lot of fun.
I especially enjoyed visiting the old Oatman Hotel, which has a small, but decent bar. Visit the dentist / assayer's office at the South end of town, as well.
I would like to visit, again.

- Good What a blast! If you are ever in the area you owe it to yourself to check this place out. Have been to Oatman twice and can't wait to go back. Has a couple of funky bars/restaurants and gift shops. The grocery store sells carrots that you can feed to the wild burrows that roam downtown. Getting there is half the fun. When you drive from Kingman to Oatman you will be traveling on the old Route 66. Keep your hands on the wheel and your eyes on the road, this drive can be a bit hairy but its all part of the fun. Great scenery and the solitude of being alone are a part of the experience.

- Good Visited Oatman on the recommendation from other family members. The ride down Route 66 from Kingman to Oatman was breathtaking. High in the mountains stop at one of the pullovers and look out over the valley. It's so quiet you feel like you have to whisper. Oatman itself is a "must see" experience if you have the time to drive there.
