my family and i visited bonnie springs on 9/26/06. and my children where petting the animals outside of the cages and a lady working there walked up and said dont pet the animals. so we stopped. then over by the horses my children where playing on a swing and there where no signs what so ever. so i let them play on it at my fault. then the same lady starterd screaming at my children saying '' hey hey get off, wheres your parents, they need to watch you better'' and I was sitting right there and she saw me. then she walked over and said this is the 2nd incident i had with your children. and she started screaming. and i stood up and said were sorry then she said u need to watch ur children better. and she went on and on about how bad of parents we where for letting them be kids. so i stood up and said u dont yell at my kids. and she said ''LEAVE.'' so we did she escorted us out treating us like we where little kids. We asked for a refund she denied it. so for no one i wont be telling family and friends how much fun it is to be there. i will never take my kids back there agian. they are mean to my kids. how you take this to consideration.

I was forced to visit this hell-hole on a family vacation. Where I was shocked to see the state of the filthy petting zoo and the horrendous conditions the animals were kept in. Furthermore at the hanging show, I was forced to take part in what was perhaps, the direst form of entertainment imaginable. And to add insult to injury, my bottom was constantly felt up by one of the lecherous actors. If anyone ever tried to make me visit again, I would prefer to eat horse-dung.

Bonnie Springs aka Old Nevada is a sorry excuse for an attraction. If it were not for the pseudo cowboy charging $7 per vehicle at the gate I feel sure the establishment would go out of business. The "western town" is more like a low rent ghost town. Buildings were marked with empty promises. Hear Lincoln Speak, Watch Yarn Being Made, General Store...all buildings were locked or empty. We gave up on the "town" and walked over to the petting zoo. Inside the double metal gates was cage after cage of filth and dazed animals. Either sick, bored or malnourished the animals were in dire need of rescue. The animals that are available for petting were a llama (Please note: The llama tried to sneak out of the gate twice while I was inside...at least someone at Bonnie Springs has some sense!), deer (with a ping-pong-ball-size tumor on his face), goat (following a employee around begging for food) and a bunny (I actually think the bunny had escaped from his cage.). Prior to the petting zoo experience we had prepaid to go horse back riding. On the feces laden path to the stables we saw an emaciated steer, too weak to stand. At this point we decided to ask for a refund and get the hell out of Old Nevada. Reluctantly the bar back handed over our $120. ($30 per person) We left Old Nevada and never looked back...except to write down a few details for the Humane Society.

As a Las Vegas resident I am embarrassed about Bonnie Springs. I've been there many times during the years and it used to be a nice attraction to go to as an escape from the city. I don't recommend it to visitors now due to the petting zoo and "Old Nevada." My opinion is that "Old Nevada" is a rip-off, and the "petting zoo" makes me sad. There are too many animals in small and dirty cages. Hopefully if people will complain about the conditions at Bonnie Springs the owners might restore it to the pleasant get-away of years past.

Oh brother. Now here is a crazy place. My son and I just happened upon it as we were going to Red Rock. There were some wild burros on the side of the rode, so we stopped for a pic. I saw the big arch of Bonnie Springs so we decided to drive down. After wading my rental car through the huge water filled washouts of the dirt road we got there and a lone cowboy looking guy was on the porch. He said all the events were cancelled but we could look around the "petting zoo" Oh my word! We couldn't really see the animals. There are soooo many signs everywhere. No eating, no smoking, no leaning, beware, I can't tell you. We actually ended up taking pictures of all the signs. Some were wood, some where paper you couldn't even read. It was hilarious. There were beautiful peacocks roaming around. We ended up walking around the back of something and seeing the hotel with all these newer cars wrecked parked in a line. It was scary seeing a new Toyota with the windshield and front smashed. Well, that was enough for us (lol) we ran to our car and got out of there as fast as we could.

Don't go out of your way to visit this place - it's NOT special. We had been in Vegas a week and were getting tired of the strip crowds & traffic.

The animals are pitiful, in my opinion, and I found myself feeling sorry for them.

We wasted about 3 hours here. Wished we'd have skipped it though.

I was carrying a large camera bag and was stopped and asked to identify if I was working for the media, I said yes and was told that I could only go in if I signed a release (and then I could go in for free). The form they wanted me to sign stated that if my reporting wasn’t to their liking that I was giving them the right to sue me for monetary damages!!! I laughed, didn’t sign their pathetic contract and then interviewed people who were leaving the noon hanging. I then sent others in to confirm the negative comments that I got from tourists. From what I could see it seems that they have not maintained the area since the 70’s- and back then the petting zoo was not so bad (my grandfather brought me). If you love the “authentic wild West” then this is not the place for you. If you want a good idea of what the old West was like then please visit the Clark county museum instead. I do not recommend this for kids because it's too far to drive them for too little, and all the melodramas they offer are really boring.

I am a western history buff and was so looking forward to visiting Bonnie Springs Old Nevada. I was so disappointed by my visit. This place is so run down. It may have been a nice sire to visit in the 1950's but it looks like nothing has been maintained since them. I tried to watch a old 35mm slide show in one of the old buildings but it kept breaking down. Never did see all of the show. That was OK because the show was so bad, slides out of focus and very faded.

I am not expecting a Walt Disney type of park here but what they have is just not going to make it in the 21 century.

Finally made it out to Red Rock Canyon on our last visit to Las Vegas last July. Stopped in at Bonnie Springs. For a $5 per carload fee, definitely worth the money. For that, you get to see an indoor melodrama, and an outdoor gunfight/hanging, with plenty of comic relief from the sidekick! Also a petting zoo, which the kids found interesting. We ended up spending a fair bit of time there. Would go again.

We went out here once when we had taken the teenagers to Vegas with us. This was in March of 1999. If you have kids it's a place to stop while driving through red rock canyon but not a place I'd go out of my way to see.

We elected not to pay to enter their "Western" themed area where they have staged gunfights. We've seen enough of those to last a life time. We did spend time wandering through their petting zoo where you're not actually allowed to pet the animals. It was really sort of an odd thing in the middle of the desert. At that time, they had signs up indicating the county was wanting to revoke their right to keep exotic animals. I'm not sure if the non-peting peting zoo is still there.

The one thing that might have been fun was to take a horse back ride through red rock canyon. They have a selection of horses for trail rides. Unfortunately, we were all sort of tired and decided maybe some other time.
