- Good The drive through tour is good and scenic stops along the way. This place is better suited to hikers with time to explore. Did see the wild Mules. Was surprised at how they can blend in with the sage brush.

- Good If you are from the east or midwest, take a couple of hours away from the strip and drive out to see Red Rock. Climb some rocks and take lots of pictures. Don't leave until you've found the burros! On your way back to the strip, stop at Red Rock Canyon Resort - very nice, very friendly, and brand new. A great afternoon!!

- Good Perfect way to get "grounded" and back to reality. Kids loved the freedom to run and climb the rocks. Scenery is spectacular. A real bargain for a days adventure. Highlight of our Las Vegas vacation!

- Good Red Rock is a very interesting place to visit. I don't think a child would appreciate the beauty of this resource. We saw a snake cross the road, other little critters, and quite a few burro's (You've have to realize this was quite a sight for city folk.) There are also quite a few beautiful red and white rocks which you should not take to make bookends.

- Good This was beautiful. We also got to hike quite a bit and went as far up the mountain as we could before needing rock climbing gear. It was just a wonderful trip and not too far.

- Good Fantastic area to visit, especially if you are looking to take photos. If it's not too hot, get out of the car for a hike or a walk, if it is hot, make sure you have water with you. Only about 20 to 30 minutes from the strip at the west end of Charleston Blvd. If you have a car and the time, make a trip out there.

- Good Senic drive was closed due to fires, but they let us in free to the visitors center and we were allowed to hike right around the center. The desert tortises are very cool. Watching the firefighters work was amazing, they are a very brave group of people.

- Good Easy to get to, a nice break from the smoky air in all the hotels and casinos. An easy driving loop, or you can do hikes of any duration. Sort of like a mini Valley of Fire Park. Valley of Fire is bigger and better, so you won't need to do Red Rock if Valley of fire is already on your agenda.

- Good The scenery here is straight out of a wild west movie. We went on Cowboy Trail Rides, and were treated
to a very un-strenuous ride around a trail and up a hill, where we watched the distant twinkle of Vegas
light up the darkening sky. As we rode back to the camp, there was a great big bonfire going and one
of our hosts, Randy, was cooking up a storm on the barbecue. We all had barbecued salmon, steak or
vegetable burgers, depending on choice, with roast potato, chili beans and salad. I had a big succulent
salmon steak, and others reported that the steak was thick and juicy. The chili beans on the jacket
potato were A-grade comfort food, and the setting, under the stars out in the desert, by an open
campfire with some old guy singing cowboy songs, was unforgettable. And roasting your own
marshmallows over an open fire beats any creme brulee hands-down. Seriously, when was the last time
you did that? Ten years? Twenty? Amazing.
A perfect break from the city, cos you can go crazy listening to slot machines and "Winter Wonderland"
all the time, cos these days it's racist or sexist or something to play "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town".
Or whatever.

- Undecided I did a tour package with Papillion Tours where I went on a Helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon and then go horse back riding at Red Rock Canyon on November 16. Well, things went well at first. Got picked up at the hotel at 630 am and went to Papillion. Went on the helicopter tour at about 715-730 am which was just amazing. When I got back from that at 930 am, I was told to meet desk clerk once I got back and she'd take me where I needed to go. Just so happens that there was about 10 people waiting an hour for me to get back from the Grand Canyon. The entire ride up to Red Rock Canyon and back, the tour guide did nothing but complain about how bad the company is for poor planning and making me feel bad for trying to enjoy my vacation. Gave everybody business cards and told them to complain to the company. He keep going on and on about how he was going to quit. Just whined the entire time. I got so sick of it. If I didn't pay over $400 for this, I would've left. That guy needs to get fired. Terrible idiot. This one day really put a damper on my vacation. I come here to get away from it all and to get away from kids crying and screaming and here I am having to put up with a grown man acting like a 2 yr old.

- Good If you have a car, this is an excellent place to spend some time away from the glitz & glitter (although we love that part too). It's only about 20" from town & the formations are quite impressive. Nice visitor center. There are some nice trails & even though it was 105 in L.V. it felt a lot cooler walking out there. One of the trails leads to some cliff paintings. No horses but saw some wild burros grazing.

- Good Finally made it to Red Rock Canyon on our last visit to Las Vegas last July. A nice change of pace. We took the scenic drive, and, although we didn't see any wild horses, we did get very close to some wild burros, who aren't afraid of vehicles at all. For the $5 admission and proximity to the city, a must-see.

- Good Red Rock Canyon is a nice diversion from the Vegas lights and smoke. The Information Center was pleasant and informative like a mini museum. Since my husband and I are classified more as couch potatoes than outdoorsy types, we took the scenic drive and stopped a few times to take pictures and short walks. Hikers and avid outdoorsmen are getting a great bargain with the $5 entry fee. I don't know whether it was the time of day (early afternoon) or time of year (early June) but there was not one living wildlife creature to be seen. I had hoped to see SOMETHING?! But overall we enjoyed it immensely, recommend it highly and would come again in better shape and cooler weather to explore the canyons in greater depth.

Red Rock Canyon is a great way to spend a few hours. The contrast to the busy city of Las Vegas is amazing. There are several mountains which are all very unique. Bring some good shoes and you can walk trails up to 11 miles long (oh, and bring water as well). Lots of good camera shots. We saw two herds of wild burrows and some lizards. It's fun to watch the mountain climbers at the different stops. The road is "one way" and it means faster cars can pass you while you enjoy the scenery.
