Ya gotta be a star trek fan or you won't know what you are looking at. I have been told it was more fun to see this attraction with me then non-trekkers had by themselves. I was able to point out who wore what uniforms in which movies. I was able to explain items and characters. My father was amazed at my star trek trivia knowledge. Oh, I did try to take control of weapons systems when the kilngons attack but got yelled at.

I found it entertaining and loved the way everyone was committed into staying into character. The best part of the experience had to be the klingon encounter. I came home with a tribble so I am not complaining.

My family and I have been coming to Vegas from the UK for the last 9 years and we do these rides every time. We love just as much now as we did the first time. We have had out photos taken with Ferengi, Borg and Klingons. I love they way they come over to your table to make sure your food is OK and to have a brief chat with you.

At Christmas we took a couple of friends with us to Vegas and they flew out of their seats during the Borg Invasion! Hilarious to the poitn of almost wetting myself laughing!

Well worth the money, so much fun for young and old and i dont think you have to be a real trekkie either.

Great experience. To the moron complaining about those "Exit Signs" 'marring' the experience: They are in clear unobscured locations because it's the LAW! It's called fire codes. No commercial facility is immune.

Never had any characters seem out of character. Only exception was in Quarks bar when a Ferengi came to sit down with us for a bit and asked where we were from, how was our stay in vegas; I'm sure they appreciated being talked to as if they were a real human being.

Star Trek: The Experience

Month Visited: 09/05 - Bad
We saw the Star Trek Experience at the Las Vegas Hilton. I must admit to being a little disappointed in this. All the hype I have heard about this place is that there is an exact replica of the Enterprise at the hotel. This is not the case. There is just the command center, a transporter room, a turbo lift and a few hallways. Further my experience in this section was marred by the various 'EXIT' signs and doors which were not in keeping with the Star Trek theme. Kind of like seeing a Ford Model T driving around a race track with a bunch of Formula 1 cars. It just doesn't mix and takes away from the experience.

Another thing that marred the experience were the people working the rides. Two of which were the Borg Adventure and the Klingon Adventure. They were all in costume yes, but they were all clearly high school and college students. They did not look the part and their acting in the exhibits was sophmoric at best. They were having fun with it which is all fine and dandy but when you go on a ride that you paid $120+ for the entire family to get into you expect a little more from it than what I got. The special effects were cheezy at best with the use of flashlights to simulate lasers among other things.

Of all the people I saw in costume, none truly acted the part. You had dudes dressed as Borg giving directions on how to get to the casino to tourists, you had Klingon's kicking back totally out of character, and you had supposed Star Fleet personnel running through their roles in an almost slapstick affair.

I am generally easy to please but this was not what I expected. I am not a die hard trekkie but I know that for the money I paid I wanted a little bit more of the 'Experience' and less college and high school student bufoonery.

Further when the ride is over like any good park or casino they dump you out into the store where you can potentially purchase some memorbilia. It was after this that I saw Quark's Bar. It did not seem all that realistic to me and was not well lighted. I didn't even go in because it seemed like such a waste. I remember the real Quark's Bar on Deep Space Nine and this was a poor substitute at best.

The only thing that made the experience halfway palatable was the real Star Trek prop pieces, phasers, memorabilia, costumes and other things that you get to see on a lengthly walking display before you get to the rides. You see a lot of timelines and good information, and explanations of various set and prop pieces. All in all that part of it to me was worth more than the rides.

How were the rides themselves?
Boring at best and a complete waste of time. In the past I have been to several Halloween Haunts at various amusement parks. Generally when these are done the amusement park hires a lot of people to dress in scary costumes and then creates a lot of realistic mazes with real looking corpose and villian pieces to scare you witless. They then employ the people in costume to hide behind walls and scare you as you walk by. A little cheezy yes, but it certainly gets the job done. I remember a Halloween Haunt at Knotts Berry Farm in CA where we walked through a room of hanging bodies so thick we had to push them out of the way and there were goons hiding in the room to scare you as you did so. Nice!!! Why am I bringing this up? Because this is at least what I expected from the Borg 4D ride. I expected Borg at every corner trying to assimilate you as you ran through a maze. I understand that this may be considered an insurance risk to the hotel but I think if it was done in an orderly fashion it would have provided more excitement and fewer laughs and yawns from the patrons.

Further in the Klingon Ride I expected to come face to face with actual Klingons. There were none to be seen. I expected at least to witness a couple of people dressed as Klingons having a Batliff (sp?) sword fight, maybe some real klingons growling at me and drinking blood wine but none of this... just some movie footage and a motion simulator ride at the end. Very amateurish.

All in all not recommended unless you have some money to waste and you are a true die hard trekkie.

As a Star Trek FAN I enjoyed both parts of the Experience. In 2002 I was in a focus group shown plans for the newer Borg part, and I must say I was impressed with the 3D effects. VERY well done, and the Doctor was a hoot. The older Klingon part is still a great, many would argue BETTER, ride but suffers from a problem or two. It broke down in the middle of our visit and we had to be returned to the bridge. On the plus side they did allow pictures to be taken and I got mine sitting in the Captain's Chair. Also, when "returned to the present" it felt like 1995 rather than 2005. Footage shows old Harrahs (ship on the strip) as well as Sands Hotel. For $30+ a head they, using new CGI technology, should be able to fix this. If you're a fan of all things Star Trek, this is a can't miss.

This was my first trip through the Borg Invasion and my third trip through the Klingon encounter. Borg Invasion was very good, Klingon Encounter is a better ride but seems very dated at the end now. I used tix4tonite to get half price, same day vouchers and for that price it is well worth it, but I wouldn't pay full price to go through it again. Quarks was also way overpriced.

WOW! Trekkies & non-Trekkies alike will LOVE this outter space experience: based on the wildly popular "Next Generation" TV show the Klingon Encounter ride beams adventurers into 24rth Century excitement while Borg Encounter terrifies visitors with the spectre of assimilation. $35 buys you two 1/2hr rides, entrance into the Star Trek museum & Deep Space Nine shopping concorse. Don't miss Quark's Restaurant and SpaceQuest Casino.

This is not an inexpensive attraction, but if you’re a trekkie, it’s a must do when in Vegas! If you’re not a fan of the series, this is probably not for you. It’s definitely geared toward folks with a Trek background that want to have fun. My husband & I had a great time and enjoyed both of the rides. The “actors” made a genuine effort to be believable & that made all the difference. Take time to browse the museum & the shops, there were some great buys. We had a bite at Quark’s Bar & the food was better than I expected and the portions were huge. (but that’s another review) They have a great website you can checkout to make sure it’s for you. Would probably do it again if I had the chance but then I’m a TOS (the original series) trekkie!

What a loser the Borg addition to the Star Trek Experience is. We saw the Klingon show this time two years ago and it was extremely well done. I know it's a tough sell - we know it's a ride and the actors are supposed to try to convince us otherwise. But these guys weren't even trying, would have been better handing off the script to three members of the audience. The blackjack dealers decked out in Starfleet uniforms should more exhuberance. The ride itself was extremely bad. For a great 3D ride, go to Universal Studios in Orlando for the Spiderman attraction. The 3D effects (if you could call them that) for the Borg Experience were about forty years behind the times. Complete waste of money. And by the way, call ahead to make sure they are not renting out Quark' Bar & Resteraunt to a private party. Because if they are, then your Star Trek Experience is simply a flight simulation ride and a quick escort out (and no there's no discount on the price).

We've been here 3 times now--went this time because tix were 1/2 price, and we hadn't seen the new Borg show yet. I still like the Klingon show best--yes, that initial "effect" (not to spoil it) is the what hooks you in. Very cool.
The timeline/museum is great. It's a memorabilia display presented as a museum, starting with real events in the 20th century and blending into Star Trek's world. I always enjoy the enounters with the klingons and ferengi roaming about the place.
My wife liked the Borg show better than the Klingon one; she thought the live action and the stalking borgs taking down starfleet crewmembers were freaky. The 4D show was the standard stuff if you've been to Disney recently.
One last warning: the Klingon shuttle ride TESTS THE LIMITS OF DRAMAMINE. If you get car sick, you will not last 30 seconds. That said, I've been on it 3 times medicated, and it's fine, as long as you've taken a motion-sickness pill.
Try Tix4Less on the strip for half-price tickets if you can't handle the $25.

Great exhibit to see, especially if you're a trekkie! Even if you're not, which is my case. I know most people are fans of the virtual reality rides they have there, but my favorite part was the huge timeline they have which starts in real history, with Galileo and Copernicus, and goes into the future, in Star Trek time. You can usually get half price tickets on the strip, right between MGM and Aladdin, I can't remember the name of the place though, worth going to if you're on the strip anyway. Have fun!

We were married on the bridge of the Enterprise at Star Trek the experience! What a great time for a wedding! After the wedding we all went on the rides (15 tickets to each ride came with the wedding package) It was a blast. After that we went to the Venetian for a reception dinner. I was very happy because we did the "fun thing" and the "nice thing" for our wedding. Our name is going on one of the plaque's in Quark's Bar too. Quarks is great and the bubbling drinks are awesome! This is a must see for any Star Trek fan, and a must have wedding for anyone that wants to have fun!!!!!

Being a Trekker of course, I thought this "show" or "ride" was terrific! This was my second time through the Klingon experience but my first time through the Borg 4D. The Borg 4D is very good, the mix of live actors (or BORG stalking you!!), and having to move from room to room (to simulate like you are really on a space station) to the 3D effects is terrific. Also being "assilimulated" is creepy and fun at the same time (would not recommend this for small children though!). The 3D effects are some of the best I've experienced, and that includes stuff at Disneyworld and Universal Studios. Highly recommend. The Klingon "ride" is great, it is a virtual motion ride so if you get "sea sick" (like me) keep that in mind. It was hard for me to determine which I liked better, the Klingons or the Borg! Lots of great memorbilia from the movies and tv productions, and depending on the time of day you can interact with a few Klingons or Ferngi's at Quarks! Trek merchandising is great, everything you would expect including collectibles.

If you are not a Star Trek fan, You would probably enjoy both rides, esp if you like motion rides and 3D effects. I got a deal from the internet site of both rides with unlimited entries for $24.99 and I thought it was a very fair price. Live long and prosper, ya'll!

The Star Trek Experience was a dream come true! The Timeline items from the eary beginnings, of the first Star Trek series is great. Standing behind me in
line, was an elderly couple in their Seventy's. I was amazed that they were going to experience the Borg4D and the Shuttle escape! The actors were serious to make our experience realiste. Quark Bar was another feature to top off the getaway fastasy for us diehard Trekkies! I loved the guy dressed as a Klingon, his role was a first class act, and I got may picture taken with him! Thank you "HILTON" for having the STAR TREK EXPERIENCE it made my Las Vegas visit complete!

As of March 18 2004, the Borg 4D attraction was added. You can see it as well as the original 'Klingon Encounter' for one price of $29.99. We had previously seen Klingon Encounter.

Both shows are very well done and interactive. We still like Klingon the best so you may want to try Borg first (its line-up seems to move a bit faster) Both have neat effects and Klingon is a bit dated. These rides are probably most enjoyed by people who like or are familiar with Star Trek but not necessary to be a Trekkie or Trekker. It's a bit of a rush to see a few Borg walking up the hallway behind you.
Great photo opps with characters in the shops, line-ups and museum (which is included with admission) The actors have great costumes and stay in character the whole time. Lots of fun.
We also had a very good lunch at Quarks Bar/Grill just outside the ride exits though you do not need to go on the rides to access this area. Characters will also wander through here as well.

We came here specifically for the two rides, although most visitors will probably want to spend time here with the restaurant and shopping areas too. "Klingon Encounter" was clever and witty, but "Borg Invasion" was outright smashing. I'm a veteran of Disney World and Universal Orlando and this 3D show is worthy of comparison to their big-ticket attractions. The extensive use of live actors in both presentations gives the shows a more intimate feel that most theme-park rides and films.

I'm not a "Star Trek" fan, but I was impressed by this attraction. It's not for younger kids ("Borg Invasion" is quite scary), but older kids and adults will probably have a great time. If only the Las Vegas Hilton weren't so far from much of the rest of the Strip - getting there can be time-consuming. Still, it's worth the trouble and expense, especially if you can make an afternoon of it.

If you are planning on attending, give yourself plenty of time. Although the 'ride' -- which is excellent -- does not take that much time, the other attractions can keep you oocupied for quite a while. The 'timeline,' which lines the walkway leading to the shuttle entry area, is fascinating, even for a 'mild' Trekkie like me. The other exhibits are also interesting, including the giftshop, where we had an interesting encounter with a couple of Ferengi. Only drawback: a bit pricey, especially for families.

Waste of money. It cost two of us $60 dollars for basically a five minute motion ride. True, we got to sit on a replica of the Enterprise bridge but this was only to take pictures that we had to pay extra for.

Quark's was a BIG disappointment. We saw two Star Trek characters and one of them (Klingon woman) was so busy flirting with one customer that she didn't make it past the entryway to the restaurant.

Do yourself a favor. If you want to go on a motion ride, go to Race For Atlantis at Caesar's Palace. It cost $20 for two (as opposed to the $60 at Star Trek) and it was a 3D motion ride that lasted just as long as Star Trek. Plus, you can go on it three times each for the same money you would spend at Star Trek. That is, of course, unless you are a Trekkie. Then by all means go to Star Trek and waste your money.
