Poor DC has lost his passion and his magic. You can tell the guy has been blind sided by amassing more wealth and it must be tough to live a life in the past shadow of the greatness he achieved in the 90's when he was at the peak of his craft. The golden rule of magic, when you loose the passion for it you should stop because that will flow over into the audience and cheat them of their money and dignity. I attended this show recently and after being a massive DC fan for my whole life I was greatly disappointed. Why does he have to bombard us with that 10min self righteous, pompous video at the start of his show? He is so out of touch with "real people" he can't even see that this is viewed as insulting to us as it undermines our intelligence. We know who you are David, that is why we are there!!!! He may as well have been performing to an empty theatre as it was like we were not even there. Even the stories he has created to intro some of his illusions were delivered with about as much conviction and passion as a dying animal. His humor is becoming more and more sleazy too and most of it is outdated and not relevant. Please hang up your wand DC as your embarrassing yourself and insulting your audience at this stage. Re-event yourself drawing on your massive success in the 90's or simply retire and try and find yourself a life that once again had meaning and purpose. Save your money and don't see this show, it is the only way he will learn that he can't keep cheating us from our hard earned money with the dribble he is producing.
From a very disappointed DC fan...

it looks like he pulled all of his old tricks out of the warehouse and put together a show... the close up magic was boring and it seemed like he didn't really care

Copperfield you should be ashamed of yourself. Retire is the word that comes to mind. That is what you should be right now. There were 8 of us that attended your show and ALL of us thought you looked bored out of your mind. The show made us sit through mins. of film about how great you are and countless TV shows that mention the name Copperfield. Don't get me wrong, we "were" all fans of yours and have seen other shows. For the total of $776 for our group we feel ripped off. Yes, you had a few good illusions, but for pete's sake, those jokes of yours are so tired and delivery so sad. Come on David, you are losing fans with that show. Either step it up or retire. Save the $97 per ticket and drop it in a slot machine, you would have more fun.

Overall, a good show, and some of the illusions will leave you speechless.
On the downside, it appears that Mr. Copperfield has grown a bit tired of his Vegas act, clearly showing a lack of enthusiasm in the early going. The performance later picked up steam, however, as did Copperfield's humor.
One thing that may tick you off: If you sit in the front row, as my wife and I did, a Copperfield staff member will approach you before the show and remind you to give him a thunderous ovation.
Huh?
You mean to tell me that Mr. Copperfield's act isn't great enough to inspire us to give him a "standing O" on it's own? You have to TELL us to cheer?
After paying $100 for a friggin' ticket, a member of the audience should be moved to applause, not ordered to give it.
Give us a break, Copperfield. Celine Dion didn't tell us to give her a standing O. Then again, she didn't have to.
Regardless, I walked out of the theater feeling as though I got my money's worth. My wife and I were entertained, albeit, a bit chapped about Copperfield's applause demand.

Great show. This was the first magic show I have ever seen and I thought Vegas would be a great place to see it in. The show was inside the MGM and the theater was great and all (the seats are great because you would not be obstucted by any support columns). The show was excellent and the illusions that were done in the show left me speechless. It was such a shocking show I really did not know how he preformed any of the magic or illusions. If you would like to see an entertaining show this is the one to see. The magic was great and David's act could not of been better.

David's magic is superb though I like Lance Burton more. We saw David Copperfield show about 5-7 years ago, and this time were unpleasantly surprised that he now tries to be more a comedian than a magician.

I saw this show on the 20th September 2004, at the MGM Grand Hollywood Theatre. The show was fantastic. Funny, Light hearted. I was stunned at the magic tricks that he did. He is one of the best Magicians around. The only thing that was a downer, was the expensive cost of the drinks, and the very slow service of the waitress inside the theatre.

Very good show, I was a little hesitant to pay $100 for it, but my wife really wanted to see it. The intimate setting of the theatre made it great, as I'd heard negative comments from a friend who saw it in a stadium. Copperfield is a great show man, walking through the crowd, cracking jokes, and making it feel like it's a special event. The magic was entertaining.

Drinks are expensive, but you get a nice MGM collectors glass, which makes it worthwhile. Note when you buy drinks there, tips are included in the price because the servers will try to get tips out of you anyway. I found the service of the waiters to be the one negative of the show.

I grew up watching David Copperfield on the television. I have always wanted to see him live. I was hesitant due to the price, but was happily pleased. It was everything that I thought it would be. A great show.

What a fantastic show! I've always loved David Copperfield, so I was excited to hear that he would be in town while we were visiting. Had fantastic illusions, and combined that with great comedy and emotional stories. A lot of audience involvement too! Worth every penny.
