- Good Show
I'm not partularly a big fan of Celine Dion, but since this was one of the most talked-about shows, I finally saw it when I happened to be in Vagas on business.
First of all, since this was relatively a last-minute purchase (well, about 3 months before the show date), I ended up being pretty far in the back (close to the wall) though we were on the first floor and the seats were called "orchestra seats". This was the first mistake. If it is a small-sized show like Zumanity (@New York, New York), your location would not matter much. Even when I watched Le Reve (@Wynn), I felt too close to the stage being on the third row. But when it comes to shows performed at Caesars Palace or Bellagio, I believe the closer to the stage, the better, since their theaters are huge in size.
The stage per se is well-equipped with all the high-technology. The 3D screen surrounding the posterior 180 degrees of the stage provides such an amazing graphic that it almost looks as if each time she changed her song, she tripped to a different world. It was just magnificient. Since the beginning of the show, she kept singing her major hit songs one after another, almost without any pauses. It was so strong and powerful that I was actually smiling and sort of crying at the same time.
I won't write about any details since it could be a spoilor, but let me just say that the latter half of the show was dull and boring compared to the former half when she was screaming and throwing her hit songs at you one after another. I was actually dozing off when she started to sing something in French. And since I was not enjoying her singing in the latter half, all the cirque-du-soleil-ish stuff flying around became pretty much annoying and felt almost unnecessary.
Finally, after these dull period of time, she came back with one of her hit songs and I was re-vitalized, but unfortunately that was the end of the concert. I wished I could have finished enjoying the show with the smile and tears I had during the former half of the show. Why does she not disperse her hit songs equally throughout the show, or even put more weight on the latter half?
It was a great show after all. Her voice was one of a kind and I wonder how she can maintain her voice, screaming every night like that. But the producers of ths show can make this show much better.
