(Sorted by date of seeing The Second City, latest date first.) If you have seen The Second City, please ADD your own comment. Date Seen: 11/07 - Good Show Excellent show, seen Second City numerous times and have never been disappointed. I especially enjoyed the scriptless shows. <tcody325 -at- aol.com> - Crown Point IN USA - Added 12/04/07 - [75.3.7***] 7759 Date Seen: 12/06 - Bad Show I heard many good things about this show so I gave it a shot. Discount tickets can be found at most of the discount ticket-outlets scattered around the city. Even at the discount price I was severly disappointed. The actors are quite good but the writing is horrible. Many of the skits and jokes were just plain not funny. Frequently the cast would pause as it awaited laughter from the audience ....you could hear crickets chirping. Some of the skits would be funny for children (and only children) but you cant take kids here because there are other skits that are sexually explicit (and not funny). Also, no cocktail service at all. They have a bar at the entrance to the showroom where you can get a drink but there is no waitress that goes around and gets drink orders.... I'll sum it up this way. The Stratosphere has a FREE show called "Viva Las Vegas" with cocktail service. I thouroughly enjoyed that show and didn't spend a dime. I spent $30 for a ticket to Second City and was bored for the better part of an hour. <pj.stravino -at- sbcglobal.net> - Indianapolis IN USA - Added 01/24/07 - [205.245.252***] 7540 Date Seen: 07/06 - Undecided I saw a Second City performance in December 2004 and thoroughly enjoyed it, so when my husband and I were in Vegas this month, I took him to see the show. But this time it was pretty lackluster. There were some funny parts, but not nearly as good as it was in '04. We had fairly decent seats, but we tipped the maitre 'd to get them. The worst part was the service. Even though we were the 4th people seated in the theater because we arrived early, the waitress never came to our table once to take our drink order. We waited patiently before the show started for her to take our order, but she waited on tables around us who arrived after us and never once looked our way. Then, once the show started, she completely disappeared for almost an hour, even though the waitress serving the other side of the floor was busy taking care of her tables. After the show, I approached her and told her that she had never come to our table at all, even though we were seated 45 minutes before the show started, and she apologized saying that she had lost $200. I felt badly for her, but am still not sure why that meant she completely neglected her job. If she wasn't able to work for some reason, then management should have seen that someone took over her responsibilities. <vicki61956 -at- yahoo.com> - Reynoldsburg OH USA - Added 07/08/06 - [69.47.166.***] 6827 Date Seen: 06/06 We saw this show here about 4 years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. Thus, we looked forward to seeing it again this past June. It was a total disappointment. The cast was new, and that was to be expected, but the talent level has sunk drastically. More importantly, the writing (and whatever was improvised) was, at best, sophomoric. Hardly a grin in the whole show. Laughter from the audience was rare, so we assume we were not alone in our feeling about this. In many ways it's analogous to what has happened to the Saturday Night Live TV show. What was once a classically funny show struggles to be even remotely amusing. With both, the writing is the chief culprit. It's sad indeed that the grand tradition of Second City (and it has a fabulous history) is dishonored by this current version. <LJB941 -at- comcast.net> - Ft. Washington MD USA - Added 07/10/06 - [12.156.19***] 6836 Date Seen: 11/05 - Good Show This show is now all-improvised save for a very funny closing bit, and the performers do a good job with the audience suggestions given. The theatre isn't the most comfortable (tables and booths, mostly tables) but the show is worthwhile. This has 2-for-1 coupons available and is often offered at 1/2-price ticket outlets, which makes it a good deal if you can snag those. (7 out of 10) <tomdoctress -at- yahoo.com> - USA - Added 11/29/05 - [204.42.22.***] 6351 Date Seen: 07/05 - Bad Show WORST show in Vegas. Worst show I have seen in my entire life. Not sure how they stay in business and keep their jobs. I wished we had walked out immediately. Waste of time and money. <Dave1arc -at- yahoo.com> - Amarillo TX USA - Added 07/19/05 - [69.6.147.***] 5518 Date Seen: 04/05 - Good Show Attended the unscripted show in early Apr/05. Was very entertaining- especially after they threw out the heckler. But do be aware it is a very short show. Just over an hour. We got tickets in one of the handouts on the strip and paid half the price. I would not pay full price for this show. I enjoyed it but not for $35+. Search for the half price coupons!! <gary.king -at- shaw.ca> - Calgary AB Canada - Added 04/13/05 - [24.71.223.***] 5185 Date Seen: 12/04 - Bad Show This has got to be the worse show in vegas. <emeryoxley3 -at- aol.com> - Foresthill CA USA - Added 11/17/05 - [207.200.116***] 6311 Date Seen: 12/04 - Good Show Good show. Leave the kids at home, as this gets to some R-rated humor at times. Lots of good laughs on the skits and improv sections. The show is a combo of Saturday Night Live meets Who's Line is It Anyway, done by young up-and-comers doing the best that they can. Don't pay full-price, as this show has coupons in the freebie mags for 2-for-1 admission or can be purchased at the 1/2 price ticket booth near the M&M store. <carlisle14 -at- hotmail.com> - USA - Added 01/01/05 - [64.78.127***] 4859 Date Seen: 10/04 - Good Show We saw six shows while in Vegas and this was, by far, the best of the six. The skits were very funny and they did a good job with the improv. The finale, which was a guide to Las Vegas, was incredibly funny. I'm not sure if I would like the scriptless show as much, but I will definitely see this show again on my next trip. In my opinion it is well worth the price of the tickets. <sardonv -at- basf.com> - Mt. Laurel NJ USA - Added 11/16/04 - [144.29.1***] 4703 Date Seen: 08/04 - Bad Show This show was a tedious bore, maybe two or three laughs in the whole improv show, I was ready to get up and leave in the middle of the show but I didn't want to be rude. This show had to be endured not enjoyed, I think they fancy themselves as intellectuals, but they were just lame ! <gaymcgreevy -at- yahoo.com> - Elmhurst NY USA - Added 09/28/04 - [67.192.191.***] 4569 Date Seen: 05/04 - Good Show One of the best shows in Vega, and I hope a secret that's getting out! We had a wonderful time, there's something for everyone. On Friday nights at the late show, they sometimes do an improv-only show. If you've NEVER seen 2nd city, you may want to see one of the other shows with some of their rehearsed stuff in it. The skits are terrific. The small nature of the showroom makes for a close knit feel among the audience. The crowd was very involved, and lively! Loved it, go see it, and tell all your friends! <tsmiller1 -at- yahoo.com> - Henderson NV USA - Added 05/08/04 - [68.108.134.***] 2891 Date Seen: 04/04 Good gosh, you must go to this show. Hilarious, awesome, tremendous, stupendous. Incredible. It's an adult show, so I'd say no kids under 16 unless you are comfortable with the possibility of the audience participation parts having sexual connotations. But geez ... it's A-plus. Note to organizers: Don't go Danny Gans on us and raise the prices. This show at 40 bucks or under is a steal. Don't raise it to 50, 60, 70 bucks unless you go 2 hrs, 30 mins. AWESOME SHOW <greg775 -at- yahoo.com> - Lawrence KS USA - Added 04/28/04 - [24.124.4.***] 2883 Date Seen: 02/04 - Good Show We had a great time. The show was so funny that my face was tired from laughing. They are obviously not afraid to take a few chances (with the format they use), but they are so talented it always seemed to work great. Each show is probably different , but our was very funny. There were some set sketch bits and much improvisation. It worked terrifically. The setting is intimate enough that audience interaction works. It's a happening. <tharpmichael -at- hotmail.com> - West Liberty IA USA - Added 02/13/04 - [216.51.239.***] 2525 Date Seen: 01/04 - Good Show Very entertaining <scone44 -at- netzero.net> - AZ USA - Added 02/08/04 - [64.154.14.***] 2502 Date Seen: 08/03 - Good Show HILARIOUS show. Unfortunately the best guy (in the dirty dancing lead and also plays Phil) signed with SNL and left the show. I havent seen it since to know how the replacement is doing but this show is absolutely hysterical. The actors and actresses are incredibly talented and this show is well worth it. You wouldnt expect much from the tiny cramped lounge in the seedy hotel but its definately the funniest show on the strip for half the price of the huge ones. <stonesalsa -at- hotmail.com> - Las Vegas NV USA - Added 03/11/04 - [68.104.18.***] 2737 Comment Disclaimer: No attempt has been made to verify or assure the accuracy of the above comments.
