If the Dark Side of the Force has a section allocated for comedy, George Carlin is the Emporer of its domain. This show was awesome, albeit unbelievably EVIL! I admit, much of the humor would be considered way worse than jokes about the Holocaust, it was still extremely, extremely funny. I laughed my head off dozens of times. And this isn't just me talking; I'd say 80% of the audience was laughing hysterically during many of his rants. For those of you who enjoy George Carlin's peculiar paradigm of the world, you will enjoy this show. I MUST warn you though, he says some things that made many in the audience gasp, "Jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeezus! I KNOW he didn't go THERE!" But, he did and he does, so don't bring your mother or children. Anyhoo, that's my two cents. I loved it. I'll definitely buy the DVD or CD version of it.

Old George is losing it. No one wants to hear cussing for an hour or gross obsene gestures. The show would have been 1000% better if the warmup guy did the whole show. He had humor without the crassness. Maybe Carlin is thinking that this is still the Lenny Bruce era when blue was avant-garde. We certainly are not prudes, but we thought the show stunk except for his old bit using a string of words from memory. The sad part was that on the flight home, the airline was showing clips from his mid 90's HBO specials. On those he was using cerebral humor, not nonstop cussing. Also, Carlin should leave his lecturing at home. We didn't pay to be lectured and cussed at. In a nutshell, we and the the other four people at our table felt like we were ripped off to the tune of $135. I understand that he bitched out an audience about a month ago for not appreciating his humor. I would submit that maybe Carlin should hang it up if he can't get an audience to appreciate his humor.I should also point out that a fair number of people got up and walked out. Not a huge number considering that the venue holds 600 people, but still probably close to 30 or 40 people. We thought that the show was so poor that I made a special attempt to post this commentary so that other people don't get ripped off. Maybe if enough people post, he or his manager will sit up and take notice.

We attended opening night at the Stardust and found his show, to be kind, most disgusting. No, it wasn't the language. We've been long-time fans of George Carlin and expected foul and gross. However, what we got was way too much self admiration, plugs for his HBO shows, flimsy excuses for referring to a script, and boring monologs about suicide, how much he loves natural disasters and watching people die, and other topics we wouldn't feel comfortable even mentioning. Most significantly, precious little was funny. Our opinion was evidently shared by the several patrons we observed walking out, and we wish we had been among them. The warm up comedian was quite entertaining - George was not! The only good thing about his performance is that it was short.

We were somewhat reluctant to attend his show to begin with after reading the many negative reviews on this website, but figured it was fate that had him starting at the Stardust while we were staying there. We hoped that his rehab and a new venue might have improved things - they didn't. We feel like total idiots for ignoring the warnings, and feel we would have been infinitely better served to have placed the ticket money on the pass line – or rather, to have just flushed it down the toilet! Actually, that's pretty much what we did – it just took longer to disappear down the drain. In our opinion, he's surviving solely on his reputation from long ago, and he needs to retire while some folks still remember him kindly. Overall, we wouldn't recommend his show even if it were free! In fact, there's much better free entertainment to be found on Fremont Street.

I have been a HUGE fan of George Carlin since the 80s. I looked forward to seeing him on-stage and ignored the posts that said the show was horrible.

Shoulda listened. He was mean, angry and not in the insightful way that has been his trademark. He was just plain mean and angry for no reason. To think that I gave this man $$$ for standing onstage doing his last hurrah was the worst part of my entire first stay at Vegas.

Fortunately - that was his last night at the MGM, so he has spared some of you the train-wreck that was this show.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR $$$$ (Remember...this is coming from someone who loves his dark comedy)

I must say that Mr. Carlin is a ANGRY OLD MAN WHOSE TIME HAS PAST!!! I fell asleep half way through the show.

He isn't funny anymore. I have been a fan since I was a young boy and it sucked to see him this way.

One word

I used to be a HUGE George Carlin fan... what the heck happened to this guy? He's like a cranky old uncle that you don't want to invite to Thanksgiving but you feel you have to because he's family. Something has happened to this guy, he's not funny, he is bitter, mean, and its uncomfortable listening to him rant and complain.

Death and destruction may well be a perfectly good target, but George missed the boat, the harbor, and the ocean. The entire show, culminating in a drawn-out chain of loosely-tied disasters that lead to the universe exploding, was uncreative and painfully boring.

Dennis Blair, however, was excellent.

It is definitely vulgar humor here, and it's often abrasive, but the big "setpieces" - the monologues on suicide and disasters especially - are top-notch and peculiarly intelligent. Carlin is definitely an acquired taste, but if it's yours, then it's worth a look.

This man is simply NOT funny. Not in any way, shape or form. There were chuckles from the audience now and again but I attribute that to the masterful warming up that Dennis Blair, the opener, did. Now THAT guy is funny. In fact, he was more worth the money than Carlin.

We walked out about 15 minutes into Carlin. The guy is simply not funny. Don't waste your money. Or, spend it and know that the funniest guy on the stage won't be the headliner, but the opening act.

Ahhh, only in Vegas.

I was never a George Carlin fan, watching him on talk shows. Didn't think he was very funny.
My Gosh ... I went to his opening at the MGM Thursday night. I laughed my bleep off.
The guy was simply incredible.
He was all over the map with topics like the people who deserve to be wiped off the face
of the earth ... suicide ... soccer moms ... bumper stickers.
Suffice it to say I was dying of laughter.
He was energetic, sarcastic, funny!!! It is a can't miss show.
I will say people need a frickin sense of humor. Some people walked out, as he basically
offended every type of person, ala Rickles.
It's humor folks!!!! Lighten up and enjoy. This guy was awesome, a must see and worth the price!!

This was the worst, vulgar show ever. I had been a George Carlin fan for many years and this show was tasteless and I was stunnded at his jokes and comments about suicide. He came off as arrogant, rude and uncaring. He read his first bit off of a sheet of paper and told the audience that he was working on material for his NEW HBO Special. When he did not get the laughes he expected he said "I'll try this on a real audience." and "his true fans". At that point we walked out along with alot of others. I am sending him his book back "NAPALM&SILLYPUTTY" KEEP IT!! I will never read it. DO NOT ATTEND THIS SHOW DO NOT GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
