Had always wanted to see them so we finally had the chance. They have been at the RIO for 10 years now. Great show, non stop preformance. They even come out in the lobby after the show. And Yes the goldfish bit is great.
We would recommend this as a must while in Vegas.Oh yes, the price is very resonable during these tough times.

Fantastic show! Having seen both comedy and magic shows on the strip, this was a perfect combination of both. My friends and I were three rows from the stage, and I'm still in awe of the goldfish trick (if you see this show, you'll know what I mean).

I was... WAS a fan of this duo for as long as I can rember. After seeing this show I feel like it was a waste of money and time that could have been spent walking down the strip looking at the sky!!! I was extremely disapointed and hope that this show gets better or gets cut!!!

40 trips to vegas, hundreds of shows- this is the worst show we have ever seen, and the price added to the overall disappointment. Penn is arragont, non-engaging, not funny, and rude. We kept waiting for the show to "start" and then we prayed for it to end. My biggest regret is not walking out and heckling the performers. Bad vibes throughout... Actually words cannot express how dismal a show this is. Don't go!

What a waist of time and money.

An engaging show, with all the rude fun and strange magic you'd want. One of the better headliner acts I've seen in Vegas.

I was dissappointed in the show. My husband and I have been fans for years but would not reccommend this show to anyone. Very surprized!

I am a big supporter of Penn and Teller. We caught their show at the MGM (circa 2002) and was looking for a show to see and caught their new gig at the Rio. Walked out and said wow that was disappointing.

I thought they looked tired and bored of doing the same acts that they do. Penn generally came off as if he would rather be doing something else. I didn't get the same feeling of energy that I got when I saw them the first time and they may not be as good as they used to be, as something seems lost in the translation.

They no longer offer to go out to dinner with you if you're paying. I guess Penn has been busy since he got married.

Midway through the show you want to stick a sock in the big guy's mouth so he would just shut up already. Who gives a damn about what his religious (lack of) beliefs are? Boring. Teller was okay, but you have to listen far to long to big mouth before you get to any real talent by Teller. Don't waste your time or your money.

I was going to see them last Nov but plans changed, saw them in May 2005 and the price is now up to $85.

Show was lame, Penn talks way too much, 15 minutes of setting up a bit where he juggles broken bottles for like 2 minutes.. YAWN !!!!!!!!!!!!

The show on tv is much better than in person.. VERY SLOW SHOW and I used to be a big fan of Penn & Teller. Both act very snotty when the show is over and they are signing autographs..

If you like them (I do) it's a good show. It is not Lance Burton though, if you get my drift.

I would not recommend this show to anyone, I will not be going back to the rio, this mans religious beliefs (or lack there of ) don't belong on stage. Don't waste your time let alone your money.

I liked them my wife did not. I find Penn pretty funny but the show would be better if there were more magic tricks and a little less talk

Funny - funny - funny. Go early - the jazz piano before the show is great!

Very familiar with Penn & Teller and what their show is about. But disappointed with live show, especially Penn's blasphemy--God's name used in vain repeatedly and mockery regarding God and Jesus--Yuk!

Twenty minute set-ups for a gag, that really wasn't all that. Over priced.

It seems to me that the people who disliked the show didn't do their homework. This is not your standard magic show and these are not your standard magicians.
I really valued the spontaneity and wit...and some of the tricks went down well.
Penn and Teller work on being "alternative". They are magicians and comedians with attitude and work at the edge of what an audience will find enjoyable or even acceptable.
This is grown up entertainment and all the better for it.
One other thing...the pianist is almost worth the money on his own.

I have seen these guys 2 times at the RIO, If you are a religious idiot, then don't go, but if you are an atheist like me, they do one hell of a show. For those who say that penn talks to much, have you ever seen them before? This is their shtick, I love the god bashing, remember god is only pretend, those who cant keep this in mind will be offended at penn knocking their imaginary friend [god]. The only draw back it the tickets were 71$ when I went, but they stood out in front of the ent. to the theater, till every one was gone, and did photos and autos. I have seen only a couple of people do the same, Yakov is one. They were very pleasant, I Had to walk a 1/4 mile to my car, as I forgot my camera and when I got back, they had only a couple of people to do, I went up to them and they did not ask if I had seen the show, just singed my book, and took a photo with me, very cool way to end a great show. worth the money the first time.

I have seen the boys about four times over the years, most recently in January at the Rio. It is a brilliant show and there is nothing else like it. Just look at who the people who don't like them seem to be recommending. If you like most of the rubbish Vegas dishes up you won't care for them. Their show is not fundamentally a magic show, it is mostly unique social/political commentary that involves some critical thinking on the part of the audience. Yes they are atheists, deal with it. If that doesn't interest you than god damnit go see Danny Gans.

All I know is that Penn is an idiot. Don't waste your money with the crap that spewed from this mans mouth..what the hell is the Rio thinking? Go see Ron Lucas..ten times the show half the price.

Save your money! These guys are so bad. My wife and I saw them on my birthday in July. Teller actually performs a couple of good magic tricks but they should be seen in a much smaller venue, and as for Penn, this guy just loves to talk (BS) and that is what he does for about 70% of the show. At one point Penn begins to tell the audience about their final act, I couldn't believe it as I was still waiting for the show to "get started". Just a huge dissapointment. Don't spoil a great day with this show.

Just saw this terrible show tonight and had to rate it for others to read.. The show started out with Penn talking for 15 minutes explaining why we needed to close our eyes for the trick that was going to happen. Give me a BREAK! Does that man ever SHUT UP????
He swore through his ranting and raving and it made me very uneasy to hear someone keep saying G-D D---M over and over... I didn't see one happy face all through the show, and at the end I heard others say what I was thinking too.. IT SUCKED!!! I hate to say this but I got these tickets for FREE and I was still upset with the rotten show.. Teller is the only talent to watch and even he isn't much... SAVE YOUR MONEY FOLKS and DON'T SEE THIS ROTTEN SHOW!!

Great show! Michael Jones was the Jazz Pianist who played for an hour before the show and he was excellent! Get his CD at the gift store! An hour before the show people are encouraged to go on stage and inspect 2 props used in the show. Even though signs say no pictures in the auditorium you can have your picture taken on stage before the show examining the props which is quite fun. Yes, Penn used the G-- D--- word several times but that was about it for the profanity. I was hoping to find half price tickets for the same day show at one of the 3 TIX FOR TONIGHT booths on the strip but there are none to this show - don't even try. At full price it was still a great show. I was really impressed how Penn and Teller not only signed autographs after the show but went out of their way to pose for pictures with you, no matter how many people were waiting you were not rushed for a picture and autograph! This is one show that lives up to it's advertizing and well worth the price of the tickets!

Went to see Penn n Teller this week.
It was a good show.
Penn does talk a lot, but that's OK since Teller won't talk at all.
It was good magic, but not schmaltzy.
Funny jokes, etc.
I enjoyed it very much.
On a negative note, the Rio is a dump. What a ghastly area for gambling.
But to Penn and Teller a thumbs up, especially the fact they stand in the back
and sign autographs and talk to the fans afterward.
Nice touch.
Go see it.

Fantastic show. Witty and fun, the show has plenty of wonderful illusions. The theater is huge. Still, I was surprised that there were plenty of empty seats the night I went. If you don't want your child to be exposed to any foul language you might want to leave them at home. This is Las Vegas after all. Look for Penn and Tellers website to find a discount to their show.

excellent, different and very entertaining

It looks like the few people who didn't like the show wrote almost all of the negative posts. Half full audience, etc. all the same comments. Being a entertainer in Vegas I can assure you if Penn and Teller's theater was half full it was because the Superbowl or Comdex was in town. They are almost full everynight of the week and there popularity grows more and more with every TV show they do.

As far as writing new material goes..only pinheads say that. I mean how many times have these people been to see them live? Once. Just so happens they change it lots. Every three or four months a new bit goes in.

So if yourr reading these reviews and you see people calling the enytertainers "Idiots" or are offended by bad words at their age then... consider the sourse.

I enjoyed the show, but I am a huge fan of theirs(own several of their books). I read the comments below about the language and repeated rips on religion. Both have been toned down. I think the worst thing that Penn said was goddamn. I only recall one small rip on religion. For those who haven't seen the show, Penn's running commentary is a big part of the show, so if you got tired of his voice, I question whether or not you were familiar with them. The show did get slow in parts. As far as attendance goes, I was on the floor and it was just about full from what I could see. I have no idea about the balconies. The meet and greet after the show was really really cool.

Excellent Show! Penn and Teller come through with their unusual and stylish brand of magic and humor.

Many people left negative reviews because they didn't have a clue what Penn and Teller where all about before attending the show. If you expect an "ordinary" magic show, I can see how you might be shocked. Most people go to Vegas and expect a "one show fits all" environment; this just isn't the case.

It's sort of like a person who loves classical music attending a rap concert because they use instruments too. Sure, there may be a common link, but it's not fair to bash something you don't enjoy because you didn't do the research.

Another major complaint was the use of "bad language" during the show. What! You went to Las Vegas! This is a town that advertises "what happens in Las Vegas, stays in Las Vegas!" A town with the nickname "Sin City!" Vegas was founded on gambling, drinking and sex. I find it ironic that so many people are attempting to turn Las Vegas into another Disneyworld.

As with anything, it pays to be informed. For those who have never seen Penn and Teller, it is difficult to sum up the style of their show...but here it goes...

Penn if the "mouth" of the show. He is a whitty, shrewd, analytical, fast talking individual. He hates con-artists and enjoys debunking scams. Depending on the venue...his language may be fairly clean to downright dirty (see the DVD's from the Penn and Teller TV show on Showtime called "Penn and Tellers: Bullshit")

Teller is basically a silent partner. His contribution to the show is mainly through facial expression. He reacts to Penn's antics and, at times, creates a few of his own. NOTE: Teller can talk, he just doesn't on stage.

Penn and Teller's magic is often "shock" magic. They love classic illusions...but they LOVE the drama of danger. Sometimes, they just enjoy shocking the audience with a little blood or some disturbing bugs.

My advice, do some research before spending $70.00 on a show you aren't sure about. If you are looking for good, clean, all American family fun...DON'T GO TO VEGAS WITH YOUR KIDS!
