Date Seen: 12/02 - Good Show
I saw this show at 10:30 PM Friday 12-06-02. It was advertised as starting at 10:00 but was delayed until 10:30 for undisclosed reasons. The room is long and narrow with four rows of seven long tables, each with six seats on each side, for a total of 336 chairs. Take your significant other and you will probably wind up sitting behind him/her. At the end of the show, I estimated the room was 75-80% occupied. At $44.95 per head, that's about $12,000 gross--less any comped admissions. This on a Friday, presumably one of the busier nights of the week.

Unlike the steeply raked auditorium of Midnight Fantasy at the Luxor, the floor here does not rise very much, so you are constantly looking around the people in front of you to see the stage. You might want arrive early and consider slipping something to the lady who seats you for a seat further down front, just like Vegas of the old days.... However, it's not all bad for those in back. Once or twice, the performers come out into the audience and dance on go-go type platforms throughout the room. Also, at various times the lead Playboy playmate hostess/star circulates, chatting it up with the customers. Personally, I've never been in great awe of Playboy playmates--it's not like it took a lot of talent or anything--so this didn't do much for me. Plus, she remained fully clothed, negating her major attraction as a Playboy playmate (Skintight at Harrah's had exactly the same problem). She did strip down on stage later, though.

The long wait for the show to start is punctuated by two of the performers who come on stage and stand there like store-window mannikins. They move to different poses occasionally so you know they're alive, but their facial expressions suggest that they just got an IRS audit notice, and they remain fully clothed at all times. There may be a point to this: perhaps I'll figure it out some day. They alternate with a lady contortionist, who assumes unlikely and painful-to-contemplate positions. She did this twice, pretty much identical except for a different color costume the second time (transparent harem pajamas and mini-bikini bottom). Both these bits would nave been much better topless.

Meanwhile, the waitresses take drink orders, at $7.00 and up. The $44.95 ticket price does not include any drinks or gratuities. Several exotic drink specials are available, in keeping with the Aladdin's Arabian Nights theme (even though Muslims are forbidden to drink alcohol). One of the special drinks comes in an impressive souvenir Genie bottle/glass. This was very popular with the many cowboys from the Rodeo who were in the audience that night. Hadn't seen so many ten-gallon hats at one time in quite a while--and I'm from Texas.

Then, at about 10:45, the show finally started, and I am happy to report that it was worth the wait. One of the other reviewers on this site is certainly right--it's about as hot as you can get in the current Las Vegas strip legal environment that forbids total nudity in establishments serving alcohol. They do keep their G-strings on, even in the bathtub--but said G-strings are about the size of a business card, and every performer except the comic gets down to that level at least once, and usually several times, during the show. It's a far better deal in this respect than La Femme at MGM, which I saw last year, or Crazy Girls at the Rivera, which I saw several years ago and am still trying to forget.

There are also a few "girl-on-girl" numbers, including one in a bathtub and one on a "vertical bed," which some might find disturbing--although I certainly didn't. In fact, I wouldn't mind a few more. But then, I was a regular customer at the old Palomino Club for 28 years....

Approximately half the dancers seem to have had some degree of upper-body augmentation. The remainder are apparently still natural, including a very attractive and limber redhead, who I sincerely hope remains in that happy condition.

The comic is Mr. John Paddon, formerly of Midnight Fantasy at the Luxor, where I saw him last year. In this show he has moved toward a bit rougher material--for example, John Wayne Bobbitt jokes--but otherwise typical "Las Vegas Nightclub Comic" fare. Again, some fastidious tastes might be a bit offended.

Liberal democrats should also be warned that this show makes fun of former president Clinton's sexual misadventures (is nothing sacred any more? I guess not). This is during the "fully clothed" (plaid-parochial-school miniskirt-and-white-blouse) "schoolgirl" number, which comes at precisely the right time in the show for a quick trip to the head.

Another thing worth mentioning is that the spotlights, both above and at the back of the stage, swivel vigorously and often pan out directly into the audience. Several times I was bedazzled by direct hits from these very bright lights.

Bottom line: an excellent show, if a bit pricey. Of current shows of this type in Las Vegas, only La Femme at the MGM is more expensive ($59.00)--and the BEST thing in that show is the two male pantomimists with the bicycle pump. The full production show Folies Bergere at the Tropicana is the same price as this show, but you have to sit through a whole bunch of jugglers, gauchos, etc. before you get to the good stuff.

The only other improvement I would suggest would be to go to total nudity--not a very great physical step considering the size of the G-strings; but an insurmountable legal step at the present time, as explained above. That would make it worth $44.95, and more.

Highly recommended, but try to get a seat near the stage. My compliments to Ms. Sampras on the choreography; and to the cast--well done, and break a leg!

P.S. Blackjack at the Aladdin is NOT recommended. They had several $10.00 and $25 minimum eight-deck shoes, and also several tables of single-deck with 6-to-5 BJ payout, which seemed to be getting good play. Suckers have no business with money, anyway.

Oh my god. This was so raunchy and the girls looked like hookers. I used to think Crazy Girls was the worst show in town. These girls scare me.

This was an absolutely pathetic show. I have never been in a situtaion where naked women weren't at least interesting, but this one certainly was that. The comedian had no interest in being there. I was bored beyond belief less than 20 minutes into the show. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME, EVEN IF YOUR TICKETS WERE FREE, like mine were.
