- Good Show
It was a Monday night at the Paris Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas Nevada. Although Andre-Philippe Gagnon is not a household name in the United States, he is well known in Canada.
Andre-Philippe is a French-Canadian from Montreal, Canada. His stage is pretty simple ... a few props, a video projector, a few pillars and a few lights. This is a one-man show. This show is all about one man, an audience and amazing talent.
On the night we viewed the show, the theatre was only 20% full at best. It may as well have been a full house, because Andre-Philipe put on a fantastic performance.
The set started out with a the familiar video and music "We Are the World". Instead of the singing coming from the performers, Andre-Philipe provides dead accurrate impressions of all of the performers.
Following the song, Andre-Philippe starts into a series of dead accurate impressions of a wide range of performers including Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr, Barry White, Diana Ross, Nat King Cole, Natalie Cole, Joe Cocker, John Lennon.
The show focused on singing acts. I have never heard better! I would be curious to hear celebrity and polical impressions (aside from a Clinton) reference.
One highlight was a pre-recorded tribute from Celine Dion (Gagnon opened for Celine on her tour for two years). Celine and Andre-Philippe engage in a duet with Gagnon singing as Frank Sinatra.
The segment which was most impressive occurred when Gagnon selected a random audience member to sing "Memories". Gagnon then sang the same words back in the audience member's voice. It was like a human tape recorder. To further illustrate his point, Gagnon sang a duet with the reluctant volunteer where the microphone was switched back and forth seemlessly between audience and performer. This ability is truly a gift. It was so amazing, I was almost unsettled.
Our tickets for this show were around $50 US. This is a bargain compared to other Vegas acts. Gagnon deserves to be better known in America. One can only hope word of mouth will spend regarding this true talent.
Gagnon's ability to switch rapidly between impersonations means you will never get bored. Andre-Philippe moves extremely rapidly. As a result, the show clocked in at just over 1 hr and 20 minutes. An opening act would have improved the duration of the show. Regardless, the rather short show length would not deter me from highly recommending the show.
The show is relatively clean, with very few adult references/themes. However, if the kids are too young, they will not be able to fully appreciate some of the celebrities being impersonated.
I was very impressed.
Sincerely, Scott Brown

First of all he's NOT French. Which means you don't have to pelt him with tomatoes. He's Canadian and that in itself adds to the humor he injects into his music. His musical impersonations are remarkably like those he is imitating. He can do female voices as well. He was obviously not feeling well the night I saw him, but that did not deter him from giving an energetic performance. He is extremely talented and seems to enjoy very much what he does. He interacts with the audience in a very humorous way. Beware, if you are in the front row! The seats at the theater at Paris Las Vegas are very comfortable as well. Don't miss this one!
