I rated this show good only because it was free ! if I had to pay the 40 $ per person they wanted I would be very unhappy .

Very good show. Good dance numbers by the female dancers/assistants. Great magic tricks. I was seated in the C section had to turn head to see show, while D section got to seat forward. Had coupon to see show for $14.95 taxes added it back to under $20.00.

My wife and I enjoy the daytime shows and we visit Vegas twice a year. We sort of hesitated on this show because my wife is not big on magic shows and I had read some poor reviews on this website. We decided to spend some time at the Tropicana on our last trip and decided to check out Rick Thomas. We were both pleasantly suprised at what a great show this is. Many of the previous reviewers describe Rick as rude and arrogant. I can see where people may get this impression, but it is a comedic act similiar to many of the performances of John Cleese in my opinion. I enjoy this type of on the edge comedy. Thomas does a good job of not taking it too far in order to make his show family friendly. I thought he was a great illusionist and had many originals as well as doing an outstanding job on the classic magic tricks. Of all the headliners I have seen over the years in Vegas, Rick Thomas received the most positive and enthusiastic response I have ever seen of an audience there. This show is definitely worth the time and money.

While not a prime time Vegas headliner, magician Rick Thomas is nonetheless an act that is most worthy of your time. Performing twice daily in the afternoons, his show is fun and exciting family entertainment. Thomas does traditional magic tricks and illusions, some of which incorporate his trained tigers. “Sinbad” is his white tiger, and it is truly a thrill to see him up close as the magician leads him around the stage.

“Dreams” are important to Thomas, as his magical act is the result of his dreams becoming reality. Personality is always an important component in magic, and Thomas comes across as friendly and down to earth. Physically, he is a big, handsome man, yet very light on his feet, showing his talent as a dancer. One trick incorporates dancing with the microphone stand, and then later transforming the stand into a beautiful girl.

Speaking of women, Thomas’s team of four dancer/assistants are an impressive group. One of them, Grace Watts, is a dazzling blonde who is the primary assistant in most of the tricks. Any one of the other beauties could be called on, when Thomas brings a young boy on stage to help “hypnotize”, and levitate a showgirl. While his act is definitely “child friendly”, Thomas doesn’t over do it, and keeps most of his show targeted at a higher age level.

Thomas is adept at traditional tricks involving birds, and he is outstanding working with the steel rings as well. A slight of hand trick with a comic element, involving a couple from the audience, works well. A supposedly broken watch, winds up in a sealed can, contained in a locked box being held by an audience member. Nothing spectacular, but still well executed. His most impressive trick is probably the finale. While Sinbad is suspended in his cage, two more tigers suddenly appear in separate cages suspended on either side of the stage.

Thomas’s 70 minute show is great fun, and is over much too soon. The price is a bargain, as the show is as good as others costing three times a much. The program is tight, and flows smoothly with excellent continuity. The ladies are extremely competent, and simply gorgeous. While making no claim to being a “master magician”, Rick Thomas is truly very, very good, and the Tropicana’s Tiffany Theater is a great place to spend an afternoon.

Grade: B+

Rick Thomas might be the most arrogant, self centered performer I have ever seen. His show went one hour, not a minute more, and of that time at least 20 minutes was devoted to talking about himself.

The several tricks he performed were fine, but there should have been so many more of them. First of all, he can't take three steps without looking for applause. Secondly, the man's two favorite words are "my" and "I", and you hear them constantly. Right off the bat, when he told the audience "This is my fantasy," we should have gotten up and walked out.

He did two quick tricks with his tigers, then spent the next 10 minutes talking about his 2 acre home and how he keeps his tigers there. Wonderful Rick, how about doing a couple more magic acts with them? Then he has the audacity to show us a home movie, followed by a lengthy explanation about how he was a fantastic dance champion when he was a kid. Once again Rick, congratulations, but here's a novel idea, how about shutting up and entertaining us with MAGIC, instead of boring us with your life and family history?

Finally, he closed the show by saying, "I had a wonderful afternoon." "I" for one did not, and would advise anyone else who doesn't enjoy listening to a pompous ass talk about himself to find a different magic show.

The show was very good and the magician was funny as well as talented. For the price it was a deal.....However I have to say Mr. Thomas does need a bit of manners....we purchased a poster and some other items and requested an autograph which he obliged....but he was reluctant to take a picture and was very quick to leave....not a good PR way to get people to come back....

We really enjoyed the show. We had a 2 for 1 coupons, so the price was great. I would have liked to see the tigers a little more.

Well worth the price. Now that I have seen it, I think the ticket price was a bargain. Everyone with me thought the same. I would rate it higher but this system won't let me.
