Date Visited: 05/03 - Good Visit We had another fantastic trip to Laughlin. We visit Laughlin 3-4 times a year, just can't get enough. I don't know what's up with these people who whine about the Flamingo. We've stayed there numerous times and are very happy. Sometimes the slots are tight and sometimes the payouts are great. It's just a matter of luck. There a lots of nice properties in Laughlin, but no one is as free with their comps as the Flamingo. Some of these other properties should take note, this is how you get customers back. The employees are all very friendly, check-in is always quick. The only problem we've had is with the valet parking. We specifically requested our new car be parked in covered parking, but walked outside and found it sitting in the sun. We spoke to the valet and they moved the car immediately, apparently the ticket was marked garage. We will be back in October to see the Righteous Brothers. I can hardly wait. <birdz -at- qnet.com> - Palmdale CA USA - Added 01/30/02 - [156.3.107.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 05/03 - Undecided Not quite sure what to say. I did a lot of research on the web, having never stayed in Laughlin. We planned to stay one night befoe heading to Vegas. I was pleasantly surprised that Laughlin was not as dull as it was made out to be. Despite the official Laughlin link showing no entertainment anywhere in the city, the local rag advertised lots of entertainment, lounge acts, showrooms, etc. The room at the Flamingo was OK for $22. For some unknown reason, the pool was closed the morning we checked out, and since we only stayed one night, this was a big disappointment. And the waitresses were pretty rude and unattentive in the coffee shop, catering to the big parties or "older" set. I expected more from a town with nothing else going for it but gambling. I was also surprised to see that the river taxis, which everyone touts as a great way to travel, charged $3 per person per way. What a racket! My advice is to go straight to Vegas, bypass the whole Laughlin "experince", and for sure do not waste your time on a free side trip for the day, even with a free buffet. <tgradowski -at- earthlink.net> - San Jose CA USA - Added 06/09/03 - [67.30.108***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 05/03 - Bad Visit check in was fine and friendly , rooms were small and bathroom was not that good , ice machine didnt work on any of the floors and people were banging doors till 3 in the morning for 3 nights in arow. <bka38 -at- shaw.ca> - Sumas WA USA - Added 06/11/03 - [24.76.207.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 05/03 - Good Visit comfortable, carpet was a little worn, room was fresh, the house keepers kept the room very cleen, bed was changed daily, casino dealers were freindly and helpful <walter -at- zianet.com> - Santa Clara NM USA - Added 07/19/03 - [216.31.42***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 04/03 - Good Visit have stayed at flamingo several times and keep coming back. arrived app. 800pm on a sunday evening. they had 3 people working checkin and about 12 people in line. checkin took almost 45 minutes. when i got to checkin host i verified to make sure that i had a riverview non-smoking king in the california tower(it is much more convient than the arizona tower for parking garage use). was told that i was in room with two queens. i told him that i wanted a king and was told that they dont guarantee king or queen. i told him that when i made my reservation i reserved a king not 2 queens and wanted a king. he took offense and looked through his computer and all he could come up with in a king was one that had not been cleaned yet and would take 2 hours to clean it. its hard to imagine 800pm on a sunday evening in a hotel with 1500 rooms and not one clean king room. i was tired from my flight and drive to laughlin so i told him i would take the 2 queen room. that ended my bad experiences for the flamingo, eveything else turned out pretty well. the room i got had a great riverview. casino was ok, no one winning much. blackjack dealers were friendly unlike most in las vegas.ate one meal in the 24hr cafe and it was average at best. ate a breakfast in the buffet and is was quite good with a great selection. enjoyed the riverwalk a lot- one of the main reasons we go to laughlin. i have seen several comments about the quality of the flamingo dropping since park place took them over but i did not see where they were justified. would stay there again particuarly for the $22.00 a night rate. forgot to mention that the pool and exercise room located on the 3rd floor were very nice. also if you stay in the arizona tower and dont want to drag you luggage through the casino you can take the california tower elevator which is very close to the parking garage, up to floor 3 and walk across to the arizona tower elevator and avoid the hassle of going through the casino. <jerryhalllingnau -at- yahoo.com> - Ponca City OK USA - Added 04/06/03 - [24.116.231.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 02/03 - Good Visit We had another great time at the Flamingo. My wife had us checked in before I could get the car parked (about 7 minutes). All of the help was friendly and helpfull. The Buffet didn't have a very big selection for dinner but the food had a good taste. The diner was great. The casino was good to start but ended up giving all of our winnings back. After all is said and done, we had a very nice vacation, we will be back. <swtaylor12 -at- hotmail.com> - Lake Forest CA USA - Added 02/11/03 - [67.136.148.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 02/03 - Good Visit Kudos to the archetect, due to this hotel's design, nearly all the rooms offer a view of the river. We were here two nights on a comp. This property seems very generous with comps. We are not big players by any means, but we generally get several offers a year for free rooms here. Check in only took about 5 minutes, we received a higher, non-smoking floor with a king bed as requested. The room was spacious with a nice love seat and chair. No coffee maker, but most of the Luaghlin hotels don't so we planned ahead and brought our own. In my opinion the casino is the nicest one in Laughlin. It's well laid out, with separate non-smoking tables and slot areas, attractive decor. They offer single and double deck Blackjack for a low $5 with decent rules (double any 2 cards, resplit pairs, etc.), and they even have some $2 and $3 dollar BJ games from a shoe. Craps is also cheap at $2, but you only get 2X odds. Good selection of slots, but relatively few full pay VP choices, although they have quite a few 9/6 Jacks or better machines. The buffet was also good. They must have a new pastry chef, the selection and quality of the desserts is much improved. If you get late night munchies they have a T-bone steak and eggs special in the diner starting at 11pm for $1.99 which was very good. Cocktail service is excellect at the tables, spotty at the machines, especially nickles. All in all a very good place to stay and play in Laughlin. <kwatt3038 -at- aol.com> - Phoenix AZ USA - Added 02/13/03 - [12.10.219***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 12/02 - Good Visit I love playing and staying at the Flamingo. While I did not stay here on this trip, I have stayed here in the past. Wonderful views from the unique room windows, and large and ample to move about. The casino is one of my favorites, having the quarter horse races game. I love playing it, and did very well on this trip. Definitely one of the nicest rooms we've ever stayed at, especially with a $37 a night charge for the weeknights. We had a river view, which I would recommend, and the room was clean, with a nice king size bed, and the room was just really very nice. We are planning another visit there later on. This was our first visit to Loughlin, and we really enjoyed it. <margwin -at- webtv.net> - Kalispell MT USA - Added 12/12/02 - [209.240.198***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 09/02 - Good Visit Have stayed here in the past, but this was our best visit. We had a wonderful room with a river view plus a love seat and chair. The room was clean, the staff exceptionally friendly and the service perfect!!! Ate dinner one night at the Beef Barron, though it may not have been Vegas quality it certainly was worth the price we paid, as was the 99 cent omelette and the Steak special at lunch. The Rat Pack show, again not Vegas but for just a few bucks kept us entertained the entire hour and 15 minutes. My hubby loved the friendly dealers and I was happy with cocktail service. Only complaint, the buffet was awful and slots very tight. Flamingo has, by far the best players club anywhere. You earn points on every penny you spend including the gift shop. What a deal!!! Can't wait to return. <my3springers -at- msn.com> - Belen NM USA - Added 09/21/02 - [68.128.192.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 09/02 - Good Visit We got to the Flamingo around 2:30 p.m. and check-in took almost 5 minutes. The front desk staff were very nice and helpfull. The buffet was great and the diner was great as well. All resturant staff was 5 stars. Our room was clean and maintained promptly every day. The casino staff were very nice and helpfull. Dealers were very nice also. The casino was a little tight at first but a little working at it the slots loosened up and the three of us ended our vacation a little ahead of the game. If I had to find somthing bad to say, the carpet in our room was a little spotted. Other than that we had a great 4 day stay at Flamingo. <swtaylor12 -at- cox.net> - Lake Forest CA USA - Added 09/22/02 - [66.229.193.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 07/02 - Bad Visit We come with a large group every summer. This year there were about 25 rooms that had been reserved. To start things off they put everyone in various places in both towers some in the California tower, and some in the Arizona tower, every year when we stayed at the Colorado Bell before we had no problem all being on the same floor. I am diabetic and had called ahead for a fridge and they said no problem just let them know upon check in that I needed it, when we checked in they said no problem they would send it up for us, about 20 minutes later when it still hadn't arrived we called and they said they would send it right up, after another 25 minutes or so it still hadn't arrived so we called down and they said that the reason they hadn't brought one up was because they didn't have anymore to bring up, they didn't even have the courtesy to call and let us know. the food was fair, nothing special, just harder then i'll get out to catch a waitress for a soda refill. The rooms were dirty, they needed a real good dusting and they had a musty smokey smell (non-smoking room) to them. The beds however were the most comfortable hotel beds i've ever slept in. I'm 6 and a half feet tall so sleeping in one double bed with my wife was not an option. when we called the front desk to switch rooms, they of course had no more rooms with king beds, but the lady said that the beds do slide together, now that was a nice feature. We had reserved the rooms on our ATM/VISA card and then used my mother in law's VISA card to pay for the rooms when we go there, we told them not to charge my ATM card at all that everything was to be charged to my mother in laws card. The day after we got back we looked at our account on line, and there was a $259.00 hold on our account, my mother in law had a debit of the full room charge about $225.00 as well a $300.00 hold on her account also. that is $559.00 they have on hold plus the $225.00 that they have all ready charged us. We have been fighting with the hotel about this all day long. Now today (2 days after we came back) they called us back and said that there are going to be charging my card $109.00 for the room. These idiots can't even keep there books straight. I will never go back to this hotel. I will never even step foot in there facility. Harrah's and the Colorado Bell are by far much supperior hotels. I would recommend that you avoid the Laughlin Flamingo Hilton unless you enjoy stress and dealing with morons who are too stupid. <digilight2eyez -at- yahoo.com> - Ventura CA USA - Added 07/24/02 - [63.193.78***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 06/02 - Good Visit We were desperate after leaving the River Palms very disappointed. A reservation a month in advance turned out to be a joke when we showed up at midnight only to find out what was confirmed five hours before showing up that our 9. mo old baby would not only have a crib to sleep in or a fridge for insulin. It was the trip from hell! Until the Flamingo took us in with open arms at three o'clock in the morning. We received all the things we needed and were supposed to receive at the other hotel! The staff was absolutely wonderful. The rooms were very clean and nice looking. Housekeeping kept up on everything too. At the end of our three night stay they even comped us our rooms free. We only had to pay for the taxes and any additional expenses, (Like room service etc..). I will definitely be going back and I would highly recommend this hotel especially as a family friendly hotel. <Terrrrer -at- aol.com> - Anaheim CA USA - Added 06/11/02 - [64.12.101.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 05/02 - Bad Visit This was the worst I mean WORST hotel experience that me or my family had to endure!!!! We had problems everywhere... from check in, night manager, concert ticket counter (squashed seating at concert), bartender's not serving drink specials ( not one bar but all three), buffet food lousy and waitress's even worse, no toliet Paper or Towels in our room upon check-in plus vaccummed so poorly there were matches and other little junk on the carpet! OUCH can we say I'll never stay there again!!! The slots were tight too! In fact I plan on writing at least a 3 page letter in hopes that management will consider training their employees on the importance of CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS!!! I have never been so aggrivated or disappointed in the udder lack of respect and service we received when trying to spend some quality time on MOTHER's Day with our MOM... Value was good and room was clean with nice view of pool and river. Only drawback is you cant open the windows. Breakfast buffet, for the price, was OK. Not a bad place would stay here again, but prefer the Riverside or the Colorado Belle, mostly because you can get a room with a balcony at those places. <beavlas -at- excite.com> - Whitmore Lake MI USA - Added 04/29/02 - [141.211.243.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 04/02 - Undecided I used to stay at this hotel 3-4 times a year after it opened in 1988. There was a time you could check in early here, even before noon, even at 10am. Those days appear to be long gone. We waited until 3:30pm to check in. They had only one clerk working. The last few years I've stayed at Harrah's because I like their outdoor patios and fountains. Anyway, I stayed here at the Flamingo this trip because my brother and sister-in-law wanted to. We were in Laughlin to see Gallagher at the Riverside. I was shocked to see at how far downhill this once beautiful place has sunk. It was the nicest place in Laughlin at one time, nicer than Harrah's, in my opinion. It used to have a fun, bright and lively atmosphere. Now the casino is dirty, dark and dank looking, the machines are tight AND many of the staff are downright scary looking. To make matters worse, the air conditioning was broken in the casino and lobby area during our entire stay. This place will turn into another riff-raff joint if something isn't done soon. It reminds of the downtown Vegas casinos compared with the nicer places on the strip. The food is still good however, both in the restaurants and the buffet. The rooms are still acceptable, if not as well appointed with extras as they once were. The casino quality is my main complaint, along with the check-in problems. I would place this hotel about fifth on my list of places to stay in Laughlin now behind Harrah's, Riverside, Ramada, and Colorado Belle, in that order. <mrjeff39us -at- yahoo.com> - Riverside CA USA - Added 09/11/02 - [64.163.63.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 03/02 - Undecided There has been a group of us that have been staying at the Flamingo for the last 6 years. The first year was great, food great, service great and we even got the KING size bed we requested. Well, that was the last time we had great food, great service and a King size bed. Our check-in time this last time took us 45 min. This place is beginning to get like Reno. We stopped going to Reno because it was going down hill "Big Time".We haven't decided whether or not we will be returning in Sept. to the Flamingo. I know that the two couples that meet us there will not be returning. I talked them into staying at the Flamingo instead of the Riverside. Needless to say, I was a little embarrassed at the outcome of our little holiday. Take some advice "PARK PLACE ENTERTAINMENT" you better improve your resort, because if you continue with what you are doing you will have no-one staying there. Now that I got that off my chest, I best check some websites for another hotel to stay at.Does anyone have any suggestions. The Diner was closed for remodeling...the buffet was not that great,I would like to think it was because of the busy time of day that we visited...but who knows for sure. Only a few dislikes. First, don't make reservations on line, seems like you pay a higher price, thurs, friday, sat and departed sun cost $170.00, a little steep for off season. Slots were very tight. We didn't do well gambeling at all. The buffet was ok, nothing to wright home about. We prefered Edgwater buffet, better food, better selection, and better price. My concern is, Flamingo is starting to get cheep, they used to give you a pen in your room for writing, now all you get is a golf pencil (very little one) Less change people on the floor. Most of the help were very nice. Checkin took almost 8 inutes. We enjoyed our stay but Flamingo is going to have to do better with their prices and add a little more help to their casino floor and maybe loosen the slots a little. If the price gets any higher or your service gets any worse, we will probibly find a new place to stay in Laughlin. <swtaylor12 -at- home.com> - Lake Forest CA USA - Added 01/22/02 - [24.7.51***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 01/02 - Good Visit Actually was staying at the Edgewater, but walked to some of the other casinos and I must say the Flamingo was by far the best, they have friendly and helpful employees throughout their casino. Rooms were very comfortable, decorated with bright yellows, reds, oranges and greens. Actually had a comfortable chair in the room. Casino was well laid out with ample table games and slots. One in our party had a hard time deciding between the Elvis or the Red White and Blues or VP. Location on Casino was is good. Very enjoyable stroll on Riverwalk to any of the other casinos for meals or activities. Avoid the coffee shop $4.95 T bone steak deal. Not very good. Buffet was basic but quite good. Pool could be bigger but it's close enough to Katherine's Landing on Lake Mohave to meet your water sports needs. The only reason why I'm undecided is because the front desk personnel are horrible to say the least. On two occassions, I had to initiate the greeting. There was no hello, how can I help you? This is basic stuff. I even had a woman, gave me that look like "what the hell do you want". I know it is stressful and hard to smile when dealing with the public but dont use that as an excuse. I work in an emergency room full of crying kids and underpaid, but I make it a point to present myself in a professional manner. The pluses are: layout of casino is roomy and airy, rooms are good with a nice view, housekeeping people (they are great), staff seems family friendly (except for some guests who look at us and who have made some rude comments like we should leave our kids home by themselves while my wife and vacation by ourselves)please keep in mind that the little people are your future guests; buffet ok for the price; excellent peach pie at the cafe; and location is the best b/c it is right in the middle of it all; and most importantly the bartender at poolside, excellent customer service. Gonna stay at the Flamingo the end of this month. Hope the frontdesk have made some improvments because they are one the first people guests make cont act with.
