Date Visited: 12/03 - Good Visit We did not stay here, but visited several times to play $3 shoe and $5 double deck BJ. Almost all dealers were very talkative and friendly, especially after we placed a few bets for them. Drinks service was quick, after the initial tips. Pit bosses were quick to offer buffet comps. The video poker selection is better than most strip casinos’, but I didn’t see any FP other than Jacks or Better The buffet was very good. The selection was definitely more limited than that of the major strip buffets, but there was more than enough to keep everyone happy. The free shuttle from the Barbary Coast is handy. <dbeaverboner -at- excite.com> - USA - Added 12/23/03 - [140.161.216.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 11/03 - Good Visit Just returned from a stay at Gold Coast and was very pleased. Located just off the strip and didn't have to deal with all the noise and traffic. Room was a good size and very clean. The bathroom is very small but was clean. Shower always had lots of hot water. King size bed was very comfortable. Check in was quick (about two minutes). Maid service was excellent. They called one day that we got up late and wanted to know if we would require maid service that day. Maid always provided an extra roll of toilet paper. Did very little gambling there so can't comment on the casino. The buffet was good value and good quality. Excellent gift shop - a full variety store and well stocked liquor selection and other gifts as well. Better gift shop than many of the larger and more expensive hotels. Got a good price through expedia. Would stay there again. If you want good value and a very clean hotel give Gold Coast a try. Two thumbs up. <tzcnd -at- yahoo.com> - Canada - Added 11/13/03 - [216.75.186.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 11/03 - Good Visit I really liked this Hotel. It was nice being able to run around the hotel and drink, eat, and gamble for cheap. The restaurants here Arriva, El Cortez, and the Monterrey Room are nice and the value was excellent$$$$..... <kneifl -at- hotmail.com> - Alexandria VA USA - Added 06/11/04 - [12.40.161.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 10/03 - Good Visit We found the Gold Coast a relatively good value. The room was clean, quiet and comfortable. We didn't find that the rooms were small, as some previous reviewers had indicated, although the bathrooms ARE small! The food at both the buffet and the Monterrey Room (cofee shop) was very good and inexpensive. The casino was well laid out and easy to navigate, however cocktail service was sorely lacking. Better gambling at the Palms than the GC and the Rio is a very short walk. Staff at the GC were very pleasant and did a good job. We found the same level of professionalism at the Orleans on a previous stay-keep up the good work! <mmalone01 -at- charter.net> - USA - Added 11/02/03 - [66.168.56.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 08/03 - Undecided Love playing here and plan on staying here in December. Folks are great and the drinks are quick. Love VP and they have nice odds and good play. I love the ticket out system vs big cups and heavy loads. Good food and nice low minimums on table games. <mortimer_corelli1 -at- excite.com> - USA - Added 10/03/03 - [68.162.245.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 06/03 - Good Visit Fantastic value. The staff and other guests were polite and friendly. My kind of place.(Not for the Highbrow though) The wife and I did pretty well at the VP machines.(Our favorites.)We'll be back again. Did great at all the slots, especially texas tea and wheel of fortune. $3 min BJ tables were nice with great alcohol service. Ate at the montery room a few times, good food and great staff. Buffet is good, didnt eat too much for lunch due to abit of partying the night before. Bowling alley was beautiful and huge. Had a great trip would love to go stay again. <sassysagi1979 -at- aol.com> - Puyallup WA USA - Added 05/18/03 - [198.81.26.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 03/03 - Good Visit Stayed here because they allowed a Sat. arrival. Paid $60 for Sat, $30 Sun, this was a Winston cup weekend so $60 did'nt seem too bad. Room had a huge bed,if there is a larger size than king this was it. Other than the bed, room was pretty standard but very easy to get to from casino. Excellent gambling here,no problem finding a $5 DD BJ table even on Sat. Plenty of full pay VP,some machines were the ticket type which I think are great. Easy access to Palms casino across street if you want a little more upscale atmosphere. Breakfast buffet is a must, super deal and very good food. Tried the $8.95 T-Bone in the Monterey room, really hit the spot. This is not a fancy place but clean, cheap, and good tables/machines. <elindlau1 -at- msn.com> - coventry USA - Added 03/10/03 - [68.15.5***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 03/03 - Good Visit We have chosen the Gold Coast because of it's excellent reviews and we were not disappointed. Check in took place within a minute. Room was spacious, clean, quiet and well maintained. View (1st. floor) was a large white wall unfortunately but it didn't bothered us. We didn't spend much time in the room anyway. Spacious and easy access parking garage with convenient escalators to the casino entrance. Off strip location was no problem since we had a rental car. Thumbs up for the Ports 'O Call buffet. The food was great for a very reasonable price! Also a bargain was the T-Bone special at the Monterey Room. Overall we have really enjoyed our stay and we will return next year. <m.woudstr -at- planet.nl> - Amsterdam USA - Added 04/07/03 - [213.10.206***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 02/03 Before you start looking here for comparisons to the Bellagio or Venetian - stop! Lets look at what the Gold Coast is. It is an nice room in a nice hotel/casino at an excellent price. On a holiday weekend, we paid $89.00 per weekend night (which was much less than any of the "biggies"), and $40.00 for the midweek nights that followed. The non-smoking room was clean, the bed very comfortable, the towels soft, water in the shower was hot and had lots of pressure, and the TV had a nice variety of cable channels. The room we had looked out onto the roof of an adjacent building. It wasn't scenic, but I would have asked to be moved if it bothered me. The hotel's location didn't was fine. The Palms and Rio are across the street and easy walks. Other than that, we drove to the hotels we wanted to see. There's a Seattle's Coffee Company in the hotel which was good for me. I didn't dine at any of the restaurants / buffets as the wife prefers to eat at the C.P.K.s (et al), though everyone I spoke to had good things to say about them. One of the restaurants is a "locals" favorite for prime rib. The decor is colorful, but lacked the multimillion dollar touches the other guys are sporting. If you're looking for fancy shmancy - look elsewhere. There were alot of nickel video poker machines which made us happy. $3.00 Black Jack tables were nice too. Cocktail waitresses were excellent. I never saw the bottom of my drink. Never seen anything like it - and I was at the nickels! The guests and gamblers were a mix of retirees, locals, and working class folks. I saw lots of couples, but not many kids. It was a very nice stay for us, and would recommend it for anyone looking for an excellent value. Hope this helps. <iselladvertising -at- yahoo.com> - Scottsdale AZ USA - Added 02/23/03 - [68.98.72.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 12/02 - Good Visit We stayed from 12/10 to 12/12 during the rodeo. the staff was friendly and professional. We had a nonsmoking king bed room. I called earlier in the day to confirm the non-smoking room and I was pleasantly surprised that I was guaranteed a non-smoking room even though we had a very late check-in. The room was clean, spacious and adequate. Not the nicest room I've ever been in but very adequate. We got the room for $69 and felt it was a good value. The check-in area is currently under construction, so this should get better. The casino has too many video machines, I prefer slots that actually have reels on them. They have $3 blackjack which we enjoyed. The casino has an openess to it that I like. It has high ceilings and is well lit. Mirage, Treasure Island & Harrahs always makes me feel claustriphobic after awhile. The buffet at Gold Coast is great. <drrwaller -at- hotmail.com> - USA - Added 11/27/02 - [12.217.0.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 11/02 - Good Visit Confusing if you arrive via car as there is no signage informing which entrance to use for the front desk. Front desk is in one corner then you have to walk thru the casino past the bar and gaming tables to get to the room elevators. Rooms have strange configuration. You open the room door and the bed is right there. no hall! Bathroom and closet tucked away in the back of the room. Rooms were noisy. We could hear talking and laughing from the halls at all hours. Walls must be paper thin as we could also hear people opening and closing their dresser drawers. We loved the casino. Great since remodeling. Video Poker was good. Large selection of machines with good pay schedules. Buffet food was disappointing. Overall enjoyed the visit and probably would stay here again. <esrj616 -at- netscape.net> - Honolulu HI USA - Added 11/27/02 - [12.65.114.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 11/02 - Good Visit Needed to find a place for one night prior to our three-day stay at Caesars. Have stayed at many strip locations and though I would try the Gold Coast. We really liked it. The room was very standard but thats what I expected. Interesting that you have a window in the shower that opens directly outside! The casino was large and winding and great if you want to get in $2 craps or $5 blackjack, etc. The Buffet is good - especially at the prices they charge you - very low. The apple turnovers and omelets made to order at breakfast were terrific. Great stay - and the shuttle to orleans and BC on the strip is a nice touch. <bmorreal -at- hotmail.com> - Gurnee IL USA - Added 12/17/02 - [64.211.4***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 10/02 - Good Visit When we visited LV, I was on business, came in a few days early and stood at The Gold Coast, moved to the Flamingo for my business meeting, but moved right back to the Gold Coast after I was done. They make you feel right at home here, didn't get that feeling at the Flamingo. The Buffet is a great value and the food was very good. Also ate at Arriva's, reasonable prices and great food. The rooms are not fancy, but very clean and are a great value at $35.00 a nite (on weedays), and they have Saturday check-ins. If you want to spend your money gambling and on other things, and not on fancy decor, this is the place for you. The shuttle takes you right down to the Strip, a real plus if you didn't rent a car. The staff was friendly and helpful. Liked the Casino, had lower minumums on a lot of games, than the Strip Casinos.. Looking forward to staying here again. <bennsai -at- twcny.rr.com> - Liverpool NY USA - Added 05/28/03 - [24.58.150.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 09/02 - Good Visit Very nice stay. The rooms and staff were nice and, face it, for most of us visiting Vegas we are mainly looking for a comfortable bed to sleep a couple hours a night. The Gold Coast Casino is a comfortable place to gamble. As a non-smoker, I disagree with the person who said the air quality was poor. I thought it was clean. I spent most of my time in the sports book and most of the writers were cordial. I also spent some time in the bingo room and the staff there was great! I am not a huge bingo fan but played because the rest of the group I was with played a lot. The workers really enjoy what they do. If you are an avid bingo player, the Gold Coast is a GREAT place to play! Overall, I would rate the Gold Coast very well for accomplishing what they want. It is not the Mirage or Bellagio but for the niche they are trying to fit in, they do a great job! <mustardman55555 -at- yahoo.com> - Midlothian IL USA - Added 03/11/03 - [209.172.129.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 07/02 - Good Visit This was our third visit and as usual, everything was great. It's dirty, ugly and smells like a 500 year old English pub. I used to be a smoker and I try to accomodate smokers. In fact some of my closest family members still smoke. However, the air quality in this hotel is awful. The air exchangers must be very poor. It was hard to stay in the place for more than a few minutes. It didn't matter much though since the place was a dump anyway. This should be designated as a "smoking only" casino. If you like to chain smoke this is the place for you. Otherwise, avoid it like the plague. <pahefner01 -at- aol.com> - St. Louis MO USA - Added 01/14/03 - [172.151.115***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 04/02 - Good Visit The Gold Coast is a contrast to it's sister casino, the Orleans. The rooms are similar in setup and looks as the Orleans, but smaller. Same with the bathrooms; just a little smaller. Room was clean upon arrival and cleaned daily to a high level. The casino is a great place to gamble for the average person. A great variety of slots and video pocker. Unlike the Orleans, which is video pocker heaven, the Gold Coast has more variety of slots, while maintaining a good variety of V.P. Low table minimums. Cocktail service is cheerful, constant and the same quality as the mega-resorts. A dixieland band plays from about noon til 6:00 PM in the open lounge Mon-Fri. Great music and great place to relax. Drinks were $2 compared to $6.50 - $7.50 plus tax in some of the strip lounges. Food establishments are very good. Great low cost buffet. Good Italian restuarant. Excellent prime rib in the Cortez Room at a low cost. And a great 75 cent hot dog in the sports book for a quick snack. The shuttle service to/from the Orleans and to/from the Barbary Coast on the strip makes this a perfect off-strip place to stay without renting a car. The shuttles run from about 9:30 AM to midnight. The Gold Coast is directly across from the new Palms (interesting place) and across the parking lot from the Rio. Both places are easily walkable. Great valve for your money and a great atmosphere for the 40 plus generation. <JIMSIKORSKI -at- CS.COM> - Burbank IL USA - Added 04/10/02 - [206.126.22***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 04/02 - Good Visit I really enjoyed staying at the Gold Coast. The room was more than adequate and very economical. Having shuttle service to the strip is certainly a plus, but the Gold Coast itself has plenty to offer with a large casino, bingo, and fine restaurants. <jgfoley -at- snet.net> - Waterbury CT USA - Added 12/26/02 - [64.252.138***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 02/02 - Good Visit Nice Clean Rooms and Better than average casino. They have done a wonderful job of remodeling the Casino. Lots of cherry trim and a new sort of classed added to the casino. I have stayed here three times now and did not recognize the place when I walked in. The rooms are small and are on par with a holiday inn. The buffet has been completely redone, which was needed badly. It now has one of the best buffets I have had in vegas. It is similar to the Rio buffet with the around the world theme. It is every bit as good as the Rio buffet was years ago. For those who do not know, the Rio Carnival Buffet has gone in to the crapper since Harrah's took over. The baby boom crowd rules this place, but don't let that scare you away if you are young. One of the perks this place offers is free cigarette's if you are gambling. Just sit down and gamble for about 15 mins and ask the waitress for you favorite brand, if you are a smoker. It is great. <glawless -at- columbus.rr.com> - Columbus OH USA - Added 02/11/02 - [65.24.110***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 00/00 We did not stay at this hotel but went on a Saturday afternoon and we found that the atmosphere here was great.
