Stayed at the Plaza on the first two nights of my most recent trip (12/19/02-12/21/03). Even though this is a "slow" time in Vegas, I was still shocked at the great $13/nt. rate on got on hotelkingdom.com, especially since it was a Friday and Saturday night!
The staff was friendly and pleasant for the most part. The room was a really great deal (considering the rate that I paid). I got a room on the top floor #2111! The view wasn't great, but I don't care about that! The room was pretty big, with a separate sink and toilet area. The water pressure for the toilet was not very good, but that's about the only gripe I have about the room. The hotel lobby and casino did have a strange scent to it that I didn't care for, but I got used to it pretty quickly!
I saw the comedy act here on the second night, and really enjoyed it. However, the headliner comedian's material was geared toward the younger crowd, and most of the people there were an older crowd, so he did "bomb" to a point.
Never ate or gambled here, so I can't help out with any insight on the restaurants or casino. There are simply a ton of other casinos within an easy walking distance to the Plaza, so the location is really good!
If you stay here, don't expect the Ritz, but overall, I give the Plaza a thumbs-up for good value and location.

I stayed in a handicap room. The room was good for me to get around in my wheelchair. I would tell people in a wheelchair it is a good place to stay. I play Bingo . I stayed in room 611 i could get to bingo real easy. The people where real nice and Friendly. The Stars Of The Strip" is a must to see. I have seen it twice. The Chop Chop Chinese Buffet is very good. Yes i would go again.

Good visit. Pleasant staff and very quick check-in and check-out on a holiday weekend. Wonderful food in the "Center Stage" area. Room was fine. Tipped the maid daily and received extras (towels, soap, shampoo). Appreciative staff everywhere.

Ok when we stayed there . We were greeted by a lady that had an attitude problem. Then we got to our room. Have you ever checked the air filters for the AC? Well they looked like the were the original ones in there. The room was musty. Ohh the best part was the plumbing!! when ever some one took a shower the bath tub would flood. is got pretty full a couple times. The plumber that came to check it said "well this is an old building these things happen" Then he said to call if it was ready to flood the room!! well The front desk did not seem to care about it when we complained! they would not let us even get a different room. Well the cocktails were good the casino wasn't too bad but we will never go to that hotel ever again.. Thanks for hearing my comment.

My wife and I stayed at the Plaza for the first time in June 2003 and had a great time. We has a one bedroom suite in the south tower on the 22nd floor that was great with a terrific view of the strip (booked through Orbitz for $58.00 per night). The furniture and carpet looked brand new and the room appeared to have been recently renovated. The service was excellent from check in to check out and the casino has that "Old Vegas" style and feel that I really liked. I've read other comments about the Plaza that weren't that flattering but as far as I'm concerned it's a great place to stay and have a lot of fun. I recommend it and will certainly return.

Just got bak and had a great time at the Plaza. This is the first time I've stayed downtown and won't be the last. I had a room in the north tower facing the away from the Fremont stuff. It was nice and quiet. I had good luck in the casino playing slots and bj. I hit serveral hand pay jackpots and got very quick payments. However, the empty hopper was a much slower. If you like beef jerky, or any kind of jerky, I highly recommend the Jerk Shop on the third floor of the main tower. You ain't seen anything like it.

it was ok i meen it wasn't the hilton it didn't look first class but your never in vegas to stay in your hotel room the beds were nice and they gave you all the nessesitys but the bathroom was super small! i might stay there again

If you're on your last dime, this place might be for you. I was not impressed. The rooms are not noteworthy, and the johns are rather tight quarters. I had a 'suite' which is to say a regular room, with a side room that had a couch and a wet bar with an extra bath/shower area.
The wall switches did not work at all, and the lamps needed to be turned on by hand. That would have been no big deal, but one lamp was without a bulb! The lamps and tv remotes were nailed to the tables,, which I found tacky. (What good is a remote, if it is not remote?) The wallpaper in one bathroom was peeling quite badly, and I find it hard to believe that they could not fix this between guests.
The casino is on the smallish side, but it served its purpose.
The Center Stage restaurant was alright. The food was fine, but some of the low rollers out there might choke on the price. We also had the breakfast buffet, and I can't stress enough to stay away from this garbage! It was very slim on variety, and what it did have was weak. Cold scrambled eggs, cold american potatoes, and tins of slop such as oatmeal, cream of wheat, and grits. (Oliver Twist would have puked if forced to eat this swill!)
We were happy to leave after two days.

Westayed the week of 4/5 to 4/12. Rooms 1518/1520. From the minute we arrived until we left the staff was polite and friendly. Our rooms were clean and adequate for our needs. Nothing fancy, but they fit the bill. Had a small fridge delivered to our room without any hassle. The diner was a good place for a quick bite to eat and there is a subway sandwich shop along with a mcdonald's in the hotel. View was of Fremont St and the window opened up a bit for fresh air. We didn't notice any funny odor in the casino like some folks have said in the past. The games were good to us and we came home with some of thier money. Will definitly stay here again.

We had a very nice and friendly stay at The Palace. My only complaint is the access to valet parking. What a pain. Please treat yourself to the afternoon show "Stars of the Strip". Very funny and entertaining and iy will only cost you a drink! We also saw the comedy show at night. The comics were very funny and there are 2 for 1 coupons all over the place for the show.

Stayed at The Plaza 3/22-3/25. Room was good, service good as usual. One major complaint. The pay schedule on Video Poker at the "Sportsbook Bar" is Terrible!!! 6/1 on a full house is robbery. Unless you don't mind losing 40 or so credits an hour. If you must play, play on the casino floor where there are plenty of 9/1 games available.

Let's face it--I don't go to Vegas to stay in a sumptuous room. The room was dated, but clean. Bathroom is tiny, but serviceable. I had a good time in the casino. The cocktail waitresses weren't spectacular by any means, but the dealers were all friendly and the music of the Sunspots was somehow very "Vegas". A pretty good value all in all.

We have stayed at this hotel in the past on many occasions. During this visit, we stayed elsewhere downtown. The visit to the casino was great. This has the best selection of the newest machines in all of downtown. They were not as loose as the they used to be, but were definately fun. The ticket-in/ticket-out is very nice, especially if you like to move around. The bar tenders at the sports bar are my favorate--very pleasent to be around--and take care of business. Ready to go back!

While staying elsewhere we came here to check out the lounge act.The Sunspots are terrific.Being only 34 its what i expected from the old days to be like.A true great lounge and band.

The rooms were nothing special but the price was great. Casino was hopping all night. Tables were kind of dirty and crowded. Cheap beer and cocktails at all the bars and the cocktail girls kept my glass full. The food was ok and the staff was nice.
I got very drunk each night of my stay and the security staff escorted me to room for my safety.

We had a standard room on the 19th floor in the North Tower over looking the tennis courts and swimming pool. It was OK, clean and served its purpose. Had two queen beds and a table with 2 chairs. Liked that the vanity was outside of the tub/toilet area, so I could use the sink and mirror while hubby took a shower. Full length mirror on the outside bathroom wall. Very nice. Great location for the New Year's Eve Party so we could just walk right to our room afterward. Downtown definately has a different atmosphere than the Strip. Though we did like it, we just like the Strip atmosphere a lot better. Many of the things we wanted to see and do were on the Strip so it was inconvenient to get there and back. Unless there is something going on Downtown we really want to see in the future, we probably won't stay Downtown again.

Have stayed here many times before and will stay many times again. The rooms are clean and well taken care of. The people at the desk are great. My only complaints are that they got rid of the change people and installed change machines that don't work half the time. Slot area very impersonal now and they got rid of most of the good old flattop video poker machines. Found the best gambleing at the Golden Gate. Saw Jackie Gaughan himself having breakfast in the diner while we were eating. All in all, the slot area is getting worse for an old time player (too many 45 coin, musical slots).

What a place! I diden't stay at the hotel,but I liked the coffe shop.
While there,I had the "Pound of Pig",lovley name,isen't it?
The feeling of this place what got me. Really.It's like no place in vegas I've ever been.What vegas hotel,I ask you has etching of Gilded age matrons dancing on the miror? The only problem id that this place needs to keep the bums away.
If it were up to me,I'd just throw them all in a giant meat grinder!

Do NOT stay here! It is OK to visit if you are downtown but there are MUCH better values (try Fitzgerals). The Whole place is OLD, and needs refurbishing badly. The casino is ok, though I would not eat at the chinese buffet again. You can get much better food nearby at the Las Vegas Club, or GREAT shrimp cocktail at the Golden Gate. The room was horrible.... moved out after 2 nights even though it was a 5 night reservation. They have the most uncomfortable beds I have ever slept in my life AND you have to get up before 6AM or after 11AM to get hot water for your shower! Overall, it is an aging place far behind other places (stay at the nugget, or fitz) for value...... stay there at your own risk!

For Those Who Prefer a "Orignal" Las Vegas I would say visit the Plaza.The two things I love about the Plaza is the Location and the value.Being right next to Fremont St it is so close to other hotels downtown.And they always almost half of the price as the hotels on the "strip" . Now Be Forwarned about the look of the inside of the casino and the smoke problem.The Smoke gets so bad arond 2am that you need to duck your head down to see your way around the casino NO KIDDING ! But other then that the plaza is great about having new games replaced with old ones.I once Visited two weeks apart and they took out quite a few games between then.The Coffee Shop is SO So Like Vegas it's A Crapshot if you get good service there are not.But if you do go try the "Pound of Pig " For $4.95 As for the Center Stage Restraunt .STAY AWAY Even though you can see the FSE from it the prices have climbed to almost double in just under a year.For a good steak dinner for the lady I would recomend the El Cortez's Roberta's .If you need a quick bite the Golden Gate is only a few steps away and always offer there 99cents Shrimp Cocktail .If you do stay at the plaza be sure to request the North Tower 6th Floor Or Higher So you can see the FSE from your hotel room. MY WIFE & I AND OUR BEST FRIENDS SYAYED AT THE PLAZA FOR 7 DAYS IN JUNE 2002& WE HAD A VERY GOOD STAY. THE ROOMS WERE CLEAN AND WE HAD A GREAT VIEW OF THE STRIP FROM OUR ROOM ON THE 24TH FLOOR.ON THE WHOLE THE STAFF WERE FRIENDLY AND VERY COURTEOUS,ESPECIALLY ERIC ALLEN WHO MADE OUR STAY MORE ENJOYABLE. THIS WAS OUR 2ND STAY IN JUNE AT THE PLAZA (2001&2002)&WE ALL AGREED THAT WE WILL RETURN THERE NEXT JUNE IN 2003. WE ALL WON SOME MONEY THERE AND HAD A LOT OF FUN.

This hotel and the services were very nice. The casino is clean and well laid out. The rooms are considerably clean and the maid service is timely and seem to make an effort to clean the rooms during the customers absence. The Fremont Street experience is really something to see and made the whole trip worth the money. Unlike the Strip, the hotels and casinos are very close together and you don't have to worry about catching a shuttle or bus to go to another casino. The Fremont St. is exceptionally clean and there is security everywhere to keep the vagrants away. I had stayed on the strip 2 years ago and won't go back. The strip is just a lot of walking to go lose more money.

This hotel was great. I had an incredible stay. I found the plaza to be a superb deal and well worth the money. The check in was a bit slow, but this was the only bad part of the trip, and I'm patient so I don't mind waiting a couple extra minutes in a line. As for the casino, I mainly gambled all down the freemont street and very little in the plaza. Access to the freemont street experience is perfect, you walk out the front door and there is the beauty which is the freemont experience. This is the original vegas, and you can see it in its old construction. It's well worth it. 5-10 minute 2 dollar bus ride puts you anywhere on the strip. Which is fun to shoot down to. But for my gambling dollar I love the 3 dollar blackjack tables in downtown, on freemont. People who want glamour and glitter go to the strip. Those who want more low key and great gaming go to downtown. The plaza doesn't seem to be child friendly, but I wouldn't want kids with me anyway. It is a beautiful place with what I hear is a great pool, and tennis courts. The rooms are huge and for the price I paid I expected a closet, not a 40X20 room. So those who complain are people use to expensive hotels with great glamour. I am a commoner who expects litte, so I love when I get suprised with a good bargain. I am going back again in 2 months because of how great my first experience was. And the deal they gave me is unbelievable. Anyway enjoy vegas.

Love the comps. I signed up for their card on an earlier visit. Did some playing, not much, at the time. They mailed me a letter, stating that I can stay at the Plaza for three nights free, additional nights at $33. So I did.
The rooms were as nice, the casino was good and a great time.

Stayed there for 6 nights -12/23 - 12/29 - 9th floor #949 - nice view of pool area and mountains. Room was clean, large w/ a table and 2 chairs in front of the picture window.
Casino was nice - not fancy but nice. Blackjack tables ranged from $3.00 to 25.00. Slots were a good assortment, lots of new games.
Food in diner was excellent - Chinese was good, but little assortment. Food prices are reasonable.
Right at the end of Fremont St., so its conviently located.
Felt safe at any hour walking along Fremont St. & did notice this time that there were alot of kids downtown, many more than in July.
They have a nice wedding chapel & a bingo hall.
All in all a nice place for the price.

My wife and I stayed at the Plaza in Dec.01, and we found it to be an excellent value, very nice room,large with 2 queen beds,tv,table & 4 chairs, excellent maid service and was all you could ask for. Stayed at the Plaza from Dec 25th thru the 31st. Had a great time and stay. rooms are very spacious and clean. The casino is great, any game for anyone at any price. getting a drink is easier here than anywhere in Vegas, and they will make to order with Top-shelf. Quick service and very efficxient-----great deal on breakfast---$2 off if you have a player's card from the buffet--and the buffet is a great one. Not a ton of variety but more than enough to anyone happy! Center stage Restaurant is EXCELLENT! Dinner ia a dinner. Location is great at head of Fremont. A special thanks to Mr. Ferrara and Mr. Lake, efficient and courteous managers! I HIGHLY recommend the PLAZA, for cost, gaming and bang for your buck. Great clientele too----neat, clean and safe casino!

My friend and I stayed at the Plaza for 2 nights for New Year's Eve. After viewing some of the comments on here, I was slightly worried about staying at the Plaza. The only reason why I booked at this place was because it was the cheapest($68)I could find at that time. When we got there, to our surprise, the room was large and clean. It had 2 queen size beds, a table, and a nice 19" TV. We had a really nice view of the strip on the 11th floor. The casino was ok and the food wasn't all that great, but food was not good in general in Las Vegas. The location was great, it was right across the street from Fremont Street. The staffs were friendly and helpful. We went to the New Year's Eve party and it was awesome being able to run back and forth between the party and the hotel especially when it was so cold. Overall, I really enjoyed staying there and I would definitely recommand it to my friends and family.

My wife has always been apprehensive about the prospect of staying downtown. I have always enjoyed being there. In Dec. 01 I convinced her to stay there and we lodged at the Plaza. The room was ideal (14th floor south tower). The staff is so friendly and helpful and the cocktail service was prompt wherever we were in the casino. Parking is a breeze and the casino has most of the new slots in ample numbers. Blackjack dealers were personable and helpful to novices. I personally do not think you could do any better than the Plaza (except for the food, maybe) But it was inexpensive and filling. Now my wife only wants to stay downtown because of the proximity of the other casinos and the friendly atmosphere and I cannot think of a better deal downtown than the Plaza

Made a quick trip with my father for some poker, craps, sports, and food. The Plaza worked out good for us. Got a great rate of $38 during the week. I hit a $500 jackpot on their full pay video poker. The only regular poker game they had going there was 7 stud, we were looking for a hold em' game so we went to Binion's. The rooms were pretty standard. The bathroom was extremely small. A good value though.

I have stayed at Fitzgerald's (Fine), Tropicana (Duh), Golden Nugget (Excellent, the Stratosphere (Great), and this DUMP!!!!!!
No smoking room -damn near choked on the smoke.
Clean? If you don't count the roach crawling across the bathroom mirror!
I would not recommend this crappy dump to my worst enemy!!!!!

We visit Las Vegas twice a year and have stayed at the Plaza or the Golden Nugget everytime we visit. The Plaza is a little run down and not as glitzy as the Nugget but we find it a clean, nice place to stay at very reasonable prices. It is in a great location and easy to get to if you rent a car and travel around. Downtown is the place for us. We've tried the Strip and you can have it. We will visit the Plaza again.

WE'VE STAYED AT THIS HOTEL 10 OUT OF THE LAST 12YRS. IT HAS DECENT ROOMS,THE CASINO IS A NICE SIZE AND GIVES YOU A RELAXED FEELING. NEVER HAVE THOUGHT MUCH OF THE FOOD. BUT THE LOCATION MAKES UP FOR THAT BECAUSE YOU HAVE A MULTITUDE OF SELECTIONS BY JUST WALKING OUT THE FRONT DOOR. THE SERVICE IS GREAT. AS FOR NOT BEING FAMILY FRIENDLY I DON'T GO TO VEGAS TO DO THE FAMILY THING I GO TO GAMBLE AND HAVE FUN. THIS PROPERTY PROVIDES ALL OF THIS. To any of you wanting to go to this place!!!!!
DON'T they are rude, have the manners of a pig, let alone have no clue what it means to clean rooms. My wife and I stayed there for our trip and it was the worst experience I have ever had with a hotel in my life so if you wish for the vacation from hell then go ahead and stay there but if you want a nice clean place downtown then go with the 4 queens or golden nugget.

Did not stay at hotel but won my biggest jackpot there after being in Vegas for 1 week. The staff was extremely friendly and just as excited as I was to win. Would consider staying there in the future because of location and the friendliness of the staff!!

Stayed here March 14th-16th over St. Patricks Day weekend. For $50/nt on a weekend I wasn't expecting a whole lot so I guess it was an OK place to sleep. The room was clean enough but nothing you want to run around in without socks on. The casino has many years of smoke and stench running throughout it-not a real fun place to sit and gamble. If you're looking for a safe, clean-enough place to stay on a weekend night go ahead and try it. There are many other cleaner, nicer casinos to go gamble at in the area.

I only stayed for 1/2 a day, but the room was clean, decent size, and all the employees were nice. I would stay here again. With an 18 dollar room, we got a free USA today and a free gaming magazine.
