Date Visited: 12/03 - Bad Visit Terrible hotel. At first, we had a North Tower MVP room. The room was pretty nice. However, we found out later that there was no hot water. The water would get slightly warm, but nowhere near hot enough to take a shower. Initially, we thought it was because a lot of people were taking a shower at the same time. Tried again a couple hours later and still no hot water. Called front desk and they sent up a maintenance person. He said he thought there was something wrong with the boiler and recommended we switched rooms. However, there were no more North Tower rooms available (north tower rooms are newer and cost extra) so we got downgraded to a South Tower room. We had to inconveniently pack up all our things late at night (we had a lot of stuff), drag our luggage down to front desk, and get new keys. Our South Tower room was definitely not as nice as our North Tower room. However, at least we had hot water. But after we got unpacked again and started to get ready for bed, I found out the heat was not working. It's December now so it was chilly and raining that day. I just could not bear the thought of packing up everything and moving rooms again so we decided to just stay put. However, the blankets were so thin that I kept waking up because I was cold. Definitely did not get a good night's sleep. In the morning, I took a shower and although there was hot water, the water would not drain. The drain was apparently clogged. Arghh. So many things wrong with this place that I cannot even name every problem. I just named the major problems. The only way I would stay at this hotel again would be if it were free and I brought my own blankets. Awful awful place. The only positive was that some of the staff were really, really nice (some, not all). Oh, also they don't put bar soap in the rooms. They have liquid soap dispensers in the shower and in the sink area that look exactly like the dispensers you find in a public restroom. It's so tacky looking. They have a sign above the dispenser that says that if you want bar soap, just let them know and housekeeping will gladly bring it to you. Whatever! I requested bar soap and they never brought it. I ended up having to use the liquid soap. It was very difficult to use because it didn't foam up and I felt like I was putting dishwashing liquid on myself. <dream4psp -at- yahoo.com> - USA - Added 12/27/03 - [209.204.188.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 12/03 - Undecided This hotel is a worn, shabby, fairly clean property. The room was adequate enough for the price of $10.00/nite through Hotel Kingdom. I have stayed in much worse locations for more money. Service was dismal to say the least. Fortunately we did not require too much service. Frist room that was given was occupied so were moved to another room. Too bad they failed to inform us that renovations were happening on the floor directly above and construction was going on from 7:00am until we could not handle the noise any longer and left the room for the day. Location for Freemont street experience was excellent as well as the .99 cent shrimp cocktails at Golden Gate. All in all if the rate was good enough I would stay again, just make sure there was no construction occuring any where near my room. <jmcarder -at- earthlink.net> - USA - Added 01/31/04 - [65.176.6***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 12/03 - Good Visit The rooms are very basic, but they are very large and clean and very cheap. I have only stayed in the north tower, so that is all that I can rate. I have stayed there 6 or 7 times over the last 2 years, and always enjoy my stay. It is not fancy, but the the comps are very easy and the employees, for the most part, are very friendly and helpful. Obviously, it is right in the heart of Downtown and I don't have to rent a car. I reccomend The Las Vegas Club highly. but be advised. We normally stay at the Golden Nugget, but 7 nights for $197 was too good to pass up. When we got there we found out the rooms were in the South Tower (through Travelswitch via Travelaxe). We asked for and got an MVP Room in the North Tower. These rooms may not be as pretty as the Nugget's, but I think we've found a new place to stay downtown. The MVP Rooms are bigger with the seating area (couch, two chairs, coffee table), the safes are way bigger than at the GN (but the GN's safes are electronic, whereas LVC's have a key you have to lug around), refrigerator, iron/board, hairdryer and a separate vanity area. Our room was right by the elevator, ice and pop machines, but we never heard a thing. We signed up for the slot/comp program (first time ever) and got a few meals comped along the way for the Upper Deck restaurant. The floormen were very nice to us, even though we were only playing $5 liberal 21. Definitely a great value for the money. I do think it's time to spring for some new carpet in the casino, though. <suenunn -at- power-net.net> - USA - Added 08/18/03 - [206.160.14***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 07/03 - Good Visit Guys, the Las Vegas Club is still a great value. They are NOT a 4 diamond or even 3 diamond hotel, but forthe rates they charge, they are excllent. I had to make a very last minute Saturday accomodation and they still were able to asisst me with a rate of $40. I heard alot about the North tower being far better than the South but personally, the south tower was just fine. the shower/tub had a glass sliding door rather than a curtain and was all tile. A fancy room? No way. But at $40 it was just fine. My Sunday rate was only $16 so 456 for two nights on the weekend was a complete steal. I even had breakfast meal tickets and several drink tickets. An extra $2 got me better booze (scotch, vodka and rum). I checked in on Saturday around 5 pm and desk was empty. Check out on Sunday around noon was also quiet. Parking and service was fast, just remember to tip and ask for names! Freddie was vert helpful! Ask for him. I would not hesitiate to stay at LV Club again of all you need is a clean, comfortable room without all the glitz and price of the strip. What we saved on rooms went to great food and gaming instead. Upper Desk Resturant and Redwood Grill across the street at the California Hotel are both steals. main Street Station foir buffet and Golden Gate across the street for any kind of nosh are wodnderful too. Got a good rate of only $17 from Expedia.com. The was absolutely nothing wrong with the hotel when you consider the price I paid for it. Check-in/out was slow, the rooms in the South tower were a bit worn down, with plenty of cigarette burns in the carpet. But it did have working AC, cable TV (with ESPN now), a safe, semi-decent beds, and the room was pretty clean. Ask for bar soap at check-in because they only have liquid soap dispensers in the showers. Didn't gamble much here, because it's in a great location within easy walking distance from about a dozen other properties. If you're looking for a Strip resort experience, stay away from this place, and downtown all-together, especially with your family. If you want a cheap, yet clean, place in the midst of Fremont Street, stay here! By the way, I've heard the North Tower rooms are a bit nicer, but you'll pay slightly more for them. <rcramer -at- bgnet.bgsu.edu> - Bowling Green OH USA - Added 08/05/03 - [129.1.176***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 04/03 - Undecided We spent our last weekend in LV here after having started off at Fitzgeralds. The non-smoking room in the south tower had cigarette burns in the carpet and tears in the bedspread. The towels are tiny and while they will bring you a bar of soap, they have those liquid soap dispensers in the bathroom like a gas station restroom. We had to call the maintenance people up twice, once for an airconditioner that didn't work and once for sluggish plumbing (enough said about that. The window gave us a great view of the railroad lines so we figured out what the rumbling noise was. This is not a terrible place to stay and they did give us free breakfast coupons but for a few dollars more, you can do much better. <paulobs -at- attbi.com> - Grand Junction CO USA - Added 04/20/03 - [12.252.97.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 03/03 Played blackjack in the casino only. An earlier comment said that he got the room for $8.00!! There are some places that you can't even park your car for that rate. That said, I checked the web and found that the std rate for this Casino was about $45/night. Check-in was a long slow line with only 1 person working the desk and the other yaking on the phone ( no-one in line was happy!). After getting the room key, I ascended to the 7th floor ( South Tower?). I had a great view of the stucco of the North Tower and view of the railroad tracks across the street. The room smelled like old cigs, beer and coffee. The window was bolted shut so there wasn't much relief there. The bed spread had what appeared to be either a piss stain, shit stain or coffee stain ( this worried me ). The bathroom was basically a sink and a mirror. The toilet and shower was in there own room. Upon taking my first shower, the tub drained so slow I was soon standing in about 1 foot of water. The room was certainly less than desirable. As for dining the "Dug Out" restuarant was closed. I didn't find ANY compelling reason to do anything but sleep in this casino. If you're looking for something cheap I guess this is the place to stay, but for about $20 more you can get a nice deluxe room at the Plaza Hotel with a nice view of the fremont experience. Definetly would not bring my family to this dump. <zokko -at- mail.com> - USA - Added 03/24/03 - [192.55.5***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 03/03 - Good Visit I was amazed at the deal we got at the Las Vegas Club! It was perfect and we found it with no problem after a 13 hour day of driving. We were surprised to find the room in pristine shape with a huge window overlooking the street below. I felt very safe in the older part of Vegas, and we practically rolled out of bed to find ourselves in the midst of the Freemont Street Experience. The big casinos were a bit of a hike (city bus can get you there), and it was cool to see all the glitz, but I found myself actually happy to be back in the old part of town at the end of the night. We got a room in the North Tower because I had heard it was worth the extra $10 bucks, and we loved it. We found that at some of the other cheaper hotels, they packed a bunch of anoying drunken teens and kids in their early 20's. We actually fall into that category, but it is nice to be able to crash in the middle of the day without worrying about the noise. I wouldn't risk staying anywhere else on my next trip to Vegas. <j35a -at- yahoo.com> - Boston MA USA - Added 08/11/03 - [216.153.149***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 03/03 - Bad Visit We had reservations for a room with a queen size bed, snoking. They didn't have one available when we got there. What they gave us was a room with two double beds. The mauve carpet was black, the furniture was all chipped, it looked like urine stains on the chairs, and grimy dust on the ceiling and overhead light. We left for two days to Reno and came back to a funky smell. A message was left on the phone that there had been a flood in our room and they would move us to another room (this was left in the middle of the night). The floor was soaked, the bathroom light was out and we didn't know if it was a short or not. We stayed the rest of the night and left the next day. After a nasty e-mail was sent to them with promises of sending the info around the country to friends and relatives, we were offered 2 free nights with our next stay.....not on there life. Good, decent room on the 15th floor south tower. No pay-per-view movies. Room service is through the hotel's restaurants and is disorganized. No coffee in room but there is a coffee stand just off the elevator on ground floor. Casino action was decent and not crowded. Won some money the first night...but put it back the next morning. Drink service was just OK. The drinks were not strong either, as I've heard they would be, but somewhat weak in my opinion. Had dinner at the Upper Deck restaurant, prime rib for $7.95. Very good value. This is an old place and they keep it up just good enough not to become run down. The location is excellent for the Fremont St. Experience. Be careful of homeless beggars and bums...they are everywhere and will ask for money, smokes, drinks, food, etc. This is due to the bus station being across the street at the Plaza, I've read. For downtown this place is perfectly acceptable...from now on though I'm staying on the strip, even with the extra cost involved. Notes: 1. The hotel will authorize your credit card for $40 which will affect your balance/credit available limit for a few days until it clears from your credit card company. 2. The hotel will also hit you up for a $1.00 "safe warranty fee" at checkout. I have Never had this happen before and was surprised to have to pay it. I suppose I could have refused. I guess some other places do this also. 3. We signed up for their slot club and, at home the next week, I received a letter from them saying I'll never have to pay more than $30.00 for a room. Nice bonus! I may stay here again if I need to. <mrjeff39us -at- yahoo.com> - Riverside CA USA - Added 09/24/02 - [64.163.63.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 01/03 - Good Visit Stayed at the LVC for 4 nights in 01/03. Special was $20 a night for the rooms, a good price. Had a room facing the california hotel swimming pool, but nobody used it since it was in Jan. Rooms were all right, decent size. Parking was free and easy to get in and out of, just show the attendant your hotel room receipt and they just let you in and out. Casino was a little small and empty, but had a good run on the craps table that paid for hotel and travelling expenses. Asked to remove the safe fee since it wasn't used and they had no problem with that. Front desk was a little slow and had to wait to check out because of the line. Was great for the price, coupon books for 3 meals a day were provided for the price too. Only problem was there was only one restaurant in the hotel. Service was a little slow at the restaurant. Food was good, but the cashier was a real pain in the butt. Day cashier said that I could use multiple coupons if I wanted the t-bone special (20 oz steak), but when I tried to use it during the evening, old lady cashier said that I couldn't use it. She also mentioned that in her 29 years working there they didn't have that special (I wanted to mention that maybe it was time for her to retire). Unfortunately, I already ate the meal and only found out when paying, so ended up paying extra. Saw the day cashier the next day about it, she gave me a free t-bone steak meal to make up for it. They really need another restaurant in the hotel to handle the fast food type of eaters. Even had to wait 10 mins for breakfast. Other than the meals, the hotel was a nice place to stay at and hard to beat the room and meal deals. <makikiboyss -at- yahoo.com> - Honolulu HI USA - Added 05/15/03 - [63.166.120***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 01/03 - Undecided I haven't stayed at LVC since new years millenium, but a friend of mine is a "VIP" there and loves it so on most of my trips to Las Vegas we go there for dinner and gambling at least once. My first overnight there was in a high roller suite so it probably isn't fair to comment on that for someone looking for a referral. It was pretty nice though and I will say that my friend who plays dollar slots mostly (sometimes $5) was given two high roller suites as a comp because "we are slow and you are a loyal customer." That says something about their customer appreciation. I stayed in a regular room last time and it was motel basic. I do appreciate a window that opens in the very small bathroom though. If you like downtown and want to save all your dough for gambling its a decent value. I agree with the comments about checking in. The check in area is too small and the clerks very lackadaisical and slow. No bell service offered. The best things about the property are the liberal comps and the Great Moments dining room. Its hard to choose between the chinese chicken salad and the seafood bisque option that comes with dinner. Great service, nice ambience. Love their prime rib. Cocktail waitresses in casino are really efficient and very sweet. I think the VP selection has gone downhill in the last few years, but still better than a lot of places. I myself haven't usually been too lucky there, and I prefer to stay on the strip because there are so many down at the heels drunk guys harrassing any woman who isn't a grandma at all the casinos (except the Nugget)and on Fremont. (At least the obnoxious drunk guys at strip hotels don't usually smell as bad.) You can do worse than the LVClub, but don't expect a resort. <lbarney01 -at- charter.net> - Glendale CA USA - Added 01/31/04 - [24.205.55***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 12/02 - Good Visit Another great stay at the LVC! Room 724 is very close to the elevator, no problems with the room, nice and clean very quiet, and maid service was friendly and very good. The Las Vegas Club is in an ideal position on Fremont Street, the hotel itself is small, which means within a couple of minutes you can be out of your room and in the casino. The Upper Deck Restaurant is great value, with a nice menu and huge portions, at great prices. The casino is good with a wide range of machines, the slot staff are very friendly, and very quick in sorting out hand pays etc. The place is nothing fancy, but it has a good atmosphere, with nice staff and they look after you. I knew as soon as I walked into the lobby and smelled the place that it was not going to be a good stay. We had booked it over the phone, and considering the rooms were supposedly recently renovated, we thought it wouldn't be too bad. The room wasn't too bad, didn't smell as bad as the casino and lobby, and was reasonably quiet. I couldn't stay in the casino to gamble because of the offensive smell. When we left our room, we both tried the door to make sure it was shut and locked, (it was), and when we came back, it was not shut, so of course not locked. It was at the end of a hall, so fortunately no one had noticed it was not shut. Don't know what happened there....they had hurried to clean up a room for us because we checked in right after 3 pm and maybe a maid had gone back to check something? The price was awfully high, we paid over a hundred because it was a Friday. I repeat, I am glad we only there for one night. We have had some nice stays in Vegas, but this was not one of them. Next time we plan to stay in Vegas on a week nights, and stay at one of the nicer places on the strip. <margwin -at- webtv.net> - Kalispell MT USA - Added 12/12/02 - [209.240.198***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 09/02 - Bad Visit Well I hope the hotel manager reads this . I have a family of 3 my son and my wife . We made arrangements by phone using a credit card to lock in our room. When we arrived the parking garage was very dirty and some graffitti was around.Upon checking in I was informed that I had to leave a extra $100.00 deposit in case of using and room services or any extras like phone calls ect. This was problem one. We got room 505 on the south old tower but were assured that they were clean and have been renavated. The room had chipped tiles in the shower, the carpet outside the bathrrom was coming apart, there was water damage in the upper corner of the room in the ceiling amd the table the you would sit in had cigarette burns on it as well, the seats on the chairs were stained as well. So we wasted our time and went down and god another different room. Which was about 50% better then the other one barely acceptable. The people at the desk were so so to our complaint as to getting someone to look at the other room and take action on fixing those problems..I was displeased that I did not get any food comp or other comp for my having to suffer loss of time and not getting a clean room in the first place. On checking out since they has added a deposit of 100.00 $ on my credit card for miscellaneous that was not used ,I asked that they cancel the deposit on the credit card, They informed me that I would have to contact them . It was them that charged it not me ,and I did not use any of the deposit. Next time I will give them cash for a deposit at the hotel that I stay in . I would not stay there again and do not recomend it . I have stayed there before years ago and it was better run that now they also used to have some neat rules on Blackjack But I think they discontinued them. ALTHOUGH I WILL PROBABLY GIVE SOME TYPE OF WARNING TO WHAT EVER HOTEL WE CHECK INTO NEXT TIME. <jbasjazzoneandonly -at- hotmail.com> - Walsenburg CO USA - Added 03/25/02 - [204.118.157.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 00/00 - Good Visit We stayed 1 night at the Las Vegas Club. We had a MVP room and it was very clean, comfortable and large. The casino was bad but we had other casinos close by to visit. We normally stay at Fitzgerlds but we needed a larger room with queen size beds because our son went with us on this trip. We had a problem getting our room keys to work and made 5 trips down to the front desk before we got the problem resolved. The lady at the front desk just kept saying these should work and I told her if they worked I would be in my room! A supervisor finally got keys that worked. We would stay here again for the room but the casino needs to be improved alot. <macar -at- swbell.net> - Fort Woth TX USA - Added 06/01/02 - [66.141.121***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 00/00 - Good Visit We stayed 1 night at the Las Vegas Club. The casino was very smokey, and did not see, that lively. Also, on their website, it lists all of their blackjack rules and says that they have the most liberal blackjack around. Not true, tried doubling down on some cards after following what was said on their website, but was sternly told that I could not do so. Oh well, love the blackjack elsewhere downtown. Four Queens and Golden Nugget are great. <spjon25 -at- cox.net> - San Pedro CA USA - Added 07/13/02 - [68.4.62.***] Report This Comment You must judge the truthfulness of any comment and accept responsibility for your use of this information.
