I stayed at the MGM Grand hotel, the week beginning 2nd December 2003 for 7 days. I took with me my parents, who have never been to Las Vegas before. It was there holiday of a life time, and there first time in the USA. I have been to Las Vegas many times. I was worried that my mother would find it a bit difficult to walk around the place, as she is a senior citizen, and can not walk too far. I was told that we could hire a wheelchair for the week for free at the Bell Desk. The wheelchair made her holiday. She got to see nearly everything in Las Vegas. There was no deposit to pay, and no hire fee either.
We stayed on the 22nd floor in the Grand Tower and the rooms were nice and big. They were also spotlessly clean. We ate all our Breakfasts in the hotel, either at the Studio cafe, or in the Rain forest cafe. The Studio cafe was excellent, with great food and service, and the waiters are friendly and welcoming. One day in the Rain forest, when we had received our breakfast we found that the cuttlery was dirty before we started to eat. We called over the waitress, told her the cuttlery needed changing, and could we have some tomato ketchup. she brought some clean cuttlery, but no Ketchup bottle. Threw the clean cuttlery down onto the table, and walked off in a huff. No ketchup was brought, so I went over to a vacant table and took a bottle of ketchup. She never got a tip from us. We did visit the Rain forest cafe one evening for Dinner, and had a wonderful meal, and the waiter was brilliant and very entertaining. It just goes to show, it depends when you decide to go for a meal there, and who serves you.

I also used the Spa for a Sauna and Steamroom. It is a very nice Spa, very clean and the Jacuzzi was great. I found the attendants a bit over powering. every 5 minutes they would ask you if you wanted a drink, I just wanted to relax. For $20 it is a good price, and there is no time limit either.

I also tried to use the swimming pool, but the pool was closed due to the winter months. The gates were locked, and you could not even walk around the gardens of the pool. It was definately not cold during the day, the temperature outside was in the late 60's to early 70's degress.

I found that the slots at the MGM were very tight in giving you a win. I never won anything. I remember that when the MGM opened there slots were 98 percent lose, now they seemed to be 98 percent tight.

All in all we had a great time staying at the hotel. Though I do wish that the owners of all hotels would put down under there carpets some anti-static material, as I got fed up with getting static electric shocks everytime I touched a slot machine, or a button for the lift.

This was our first trip to Vegas. I'm on my way to the Persian Gulf at the end of the month for a 8 1/2 month tour. So I decided that I should spend some time alone with my wife before I go. First off we flew United and they decided to send our bag to New York instead. When we arrived at noon on Tuesday there was no bag. The people at the United service desk said it happens all the time and we should get it by 18:00. So we proceded to the MGM.(the airport check in is a great timesaver). Our room wasn't going to be ready until 15:00 so we went to the Studio Cafe for a bite. The food and service was great. When we got to our room it was nice but nothing special, considering it was an upgrade to the Grand tower. It had a decent view. As stated in many posts the shower is way too low and you have to duck to get wet. We had tickets to the Billboard Music Awards the following day, which was an excellent show. So on Wednesday we still hadn't received our bag from United so I called and they said it was on its way and should be there by noon. It finally arrived by 15:00 just in time to change so we could make it to the show. When I was talking to a United representative I asked "what would happen if our bag didn't make it in time for the show. Could we buy some clothes?" She said you could but United only covers 0 - 50% and will probaly not cover us because our bag was coming. Note: make sure you bring underwear and toiletries with you on board. The rest of the trip I will cover in one lump.
The MGM was huge and took along time to get around. It took 20 mins to get to the street. The pool was about a mile from the room. The casino was paked every night so we couldn't play at night. The food was good at the Rainforest, Studio Cafe and the Grand buffet. There is a CBS Studio which you can rate pilots. Which is fun. We bought items from the CBS store (of course we got a survivor buff). The slots are very tight here. I played BJ mostly and some slots with my wife. We broke even on gambling, which was nice. The best place to play is the Tropicana. We had a blast there eveytime we went. They give out lots of comps. We got tickets to Folies Begeres, tickets to Rick Thomas Magic show (excellent show),free buffet (which was not worth it even for free), $18 in comp money and $1 cash . This was all for only playing about 6 hours. We ate at Calypso which was pretty good (besides the undercooked hamburger the first day. I had to run to the bathroom during the Billboard show.) They have free shows all day. The only problem was that they used some kind of strong smelling chemical to mask the old carpets. Once you got over the initial shock of this overpowering smell it was a great place. We will definatly play there next time. The best casino was the New York New York then the Paris (for looks). The Sirens at TI was good except for the ending. I never knew that there were DJ's in the pirate days. The fountains were excellent. We seen Wayne Brady at the Paris on our last night. This is a must see show if you can. Non stop laughing. I will never visit Barbary Coast, Slots of Fun, Riviera and Circus Circus as they were all dumps. We spent most of our time in the mid strip are so next time we will stay in that area. The bus is the best way to get around. It costs $5 for a 24 hour pass. They should outlaw all the people who stand there and try to give you those porno cards. They're littered all over the place. I would never bring my children here. If you want cash or tickets you can go to the time share briefings. They will try and pressure you with 5 different people but just say no and you'll get cash and tickets to shows for about 3 hours of your time.

We stayed both nights at the MGM Grand hotel 12/12/03-12/14/03. Despite our LATE Friday night check-in, we were on the 27th floor in the Grand Tower with an excellent view of the South Strip (NYNY, Excaliber, Trop, Luxor, Mandalay Bay).

I was very impressed with the level of service offered by the MGM, considering how huge it is! The airport check-in was nice, and the bell desk employees and housekeeping people were nice! The room was very nice, with marble floors in the bathrooms, a decent sized TV with plenty of channels. The beds were average (not even close to being as comfortable as at Monte Carlo). The obvious drawback to this hotel is the amount of walking you have to do once you’re in the hotel. With my mom, it was about a 10-15 minute trek from our room to the casino exit onto the Strip. Overall, we had a very pleasant stay at the MGM and would recommend it to anybody that doesn’t mind the size. Try to get a Grand Tower room though, since I’ve heard the Emerald Tower rooms aren’t as nice, and they are not located near the main lobby.

Stayed at MGM twice now. First time was on Emerald Tower which had small window, dark, and small. Not to mention it's so far to the elevator from the lobby (all the way through the casino). Never again in Emerald Tower. But last time (in Dec. 03) stayed at Grand Tower which was much nicer, bigger window, elevator was just right around a corner from the lobby. Service was okay. I'd stay at MGM Grand Tower again, but not Emerald Tower.

Where do I start? The belldesk was very helpful and the staff was friendly. We had just finished moving so both me and my spouse had sore backs. His was very sore. So we tried to call someone at the Guest Services to find out where we could go to see the closest Chiropractor. I was transferred a couple of times and two departments told me to look in the Yellow pages. (Real big help! Try finding a nearby Chiro among thousands in a strange city). Then someone finally gave me a number to the closest Doc. I thought that the MGM would be a bit more organized and accomodating for requests such as these. Maybe if I stayed in the Grand Tower I would have had better service? Anyway, the building itself is huge so it was a long walk to the room everyday. The MGM has a lot of elevators so you never have to wait long and it's never crowded (Oct is a slow month I hear). It seemed the only thing open late at night is the gambling and here I thought Vegas never sleeps. Not true. It's just like anywhere else; things close at night. The shops didn't open till 9am or 10am. The Emerald room we had was kind of ugly to me. Ugly wall papar, ugly couch and ugly carpet. It looked old and 70-ish. But the bathroom had black and white marble. Nice. The silicone and grout needed some touching up though. Too bad we are both tall (5'10 and 6'2) because we both had to really scrunch down to get our hair wet under the shower head. I think you can stand upright under the shower head if you're under 5'7. Nice full-length mirror in the bathroom. Chambermaids always turned the A/C off...even when I tipped every day. Oh well, it wasn't really hot out anyway. Stay away from the slots (the only gambling I did). They were too tight. I lost $20 in less than ONE minute. I think the slots are much better at the less popular hotels. The Grand Buffet was very expensive but did have a good variety of food and tasted ok. Though there was a variety of desserts, there wasn't anything really special. I'm a major dessert person and I liked the plain ol' ice cream the best. Avoid the choc layer cake...no taste. I think a meal for two was $53 for the dinner. (I'm always using US curr) We ate quite a bit at the McDonalds in the StudioWalk. We ate at a stand nearby the McD's and have some advice: be very careful of staff behind the counter who speak with a heavy accent (a.k.a they can't speak or understand English well) and then walk away when you are telling them your food order. Guaranteed they will completely screw it up. The MGM has some really nice shops and I liked the MGM merchandise. Stay away from the Spa unless your rich! Their cheapest massage (Swedish I think?) was over $100 for 1 hr. We really didn't spend much time in the hotel but from what we saw, the MGM is a great place to stay.

Loved this hotel! The room was very nice, seemed very new and I had a great price ($69). We really enjoyed the lazy river and the whole pool complex. RainForest Cafe is yummy. The 24hr Studio Cafe had very poor appetizers at 3am., so bad I'm not likely to try them again even at a decent hour! Friendly staff. No luck with the slots, but that was the way the whole trip went - everywhere! It's a bummer the monorail is shut down. I will definitely be back!

Had great stay 9\8 to 9\12 , the last night the MGM gave as comp. The slot action was fair , but rang up alot of comps. I must note the staff of the players club were great!I am a freaquent vistor to the resorts in Conn. and never had such great friendly service thanks again. The MGM was my third visit to Vegas in 2003 , I stayed at the Golden nugget and Treasure Island which were both good, but the MGM beat them both , better rooms, pool, food, and most of all service.I am returning to Las Vegas in May and I will stay at the MGM.

The MGM use to be our favorite hotel in Vegas until our last visit to celebrate our daughter's 21st birthday in which we invited 2 of her friends to join us. The 5 of us were returning from the NY NY hotel, when we were assulted by a gang (2 guys and 6-8 girls) at the MGM entrance. I can not believe that their is no security or outside cameras at the entrance to an expensive hotel like this one. Had there been security checking the entrances, or at least outdoor cameras monitoring the area, they would have seen this gang loitering and removed them before something like this could happen. The security did take our statements, said they would check the indoor cameras and called for paramedics to check out the injuries one of the girls received during the assult. I had thought someone from the hotel or security would have checked on us the following, or tell us what was visible on the indoor cameras but no call...nothing. Anyway, to make a long story short, my husband spoke to the security the following night and was told that any further discussion about the assult would have to go through their insurance lawyers and they gave him a phone number. I feel like MGM isn't concerned about their patrons safety, and I will never stay there again or recommend this hotel to my friends. I hope this never happens again to anyone, and I think that MGM needs to evaluate their security measures.

My only gripe is that they are not camera friendly. On Thurs during a wonderful storm over the city, I was taking pictures from their parking garage and security 86'd me. It was a level and section that nobody was even using. I feel there security using the because of "9/11" and "you need permission from Public Relations" to take pictures of the city, was a little heavy handed. When I phoned there security they said they would get back to me and didnt.

This is the best overall complex. If you do not mind large buidings or crowds in this huge montrosity, this place is for you. You can do so much here without leaving the resort. The pool is A++, with several of them along with a lazy river that has water spouts shooting at you as you float along. The casino is so big that you will have no problem finding your favorite game. The place is infested with families (damn loud kids). The rooms are very nice with a strong shower to massage your back. BUT make sure you get at least a grand tower room!

The hotel is HUGE, so prepare to walk a lot. The location is terrific; you can go to many other properties that are close by. Here are some of the negatives. No coffee in the room. Why not? Money can be made at the Starbucks located only abour a half a mile away in the hotel Do you want to workout? Free? 10 dollars?, no TWENTY -FIVE dollars to work out at your hotel . The facilities are very nice however. The dealers seemed a bit surley and the cocktail waitress was hard to find. Solution, go right across the bridge to the Tropicana where the dealers were more friendly and if you tip the waitress one or two dollars, she will visit youn frequently.

Room Service 3:00 am on Sunday was a weekend highlight- omelettes.
BJ tables in casino played pretty well (low limit tables). Staff did a
remarkable job considering the unmanageable size of the joint. Nice
suite had lots of room and everything in the world that a person needs
EXCEPT coffee maker. It's a long elevator ride and walk to Starbucks
while I'm still asleep and hung over. A very comfortable stay. I would go
and stay again in a heartbeat (and take my own coffeemaker).

view from the grand tower room on the 28th floor was great(get an odd numbered room for view of the strip). check in at the airport was nice. our room was ready by the time we got to the hotel at 1:00 pm. the pool may not be as nice as caesers or mirage, but the lazy river made it more fun than the others.the staff was very friendly. so were the dealers that i dealt with. slots seem a little tight. good comps at the end of our stay. several items were taken off our bill. lots of good places to eat. we chose emeril's over craftsteak and we were very pleased. also ate at the cabana grill at the pool, ricardo's and coyote cafe. we have stayed at mirage, flamingo, luxor, and caesers. all were nice but mgm is our new favorite.hotel isn't too big and the casino wasn't too cofusing.

Basic info: see Trip report for more detail.
Have visited Las Vegas several times a year, we are generally looking for sun, fun, good food, great pool and about break-even gambling. First time to stay at MGM Grand. While not our favorite place yet, we would come back here for a good room price or because of the location and unique pool areas.
**THE ROOM was very nice, large with chaise lounge type sofa, armoire for tv, in room safe( free ), king bed, nice muted gold/tan colors, very large marble bath, amazingly thick soft towels and expanded basic toiletries ( mouthwash, conditioner, etc) which were replenished each day. In fact the maid service was the best of any place we have stayed ( we did tip each day and leave a little note). The air was not turned off with each visit of the maid as others have reported. We looked south toward the airport and west toward Excalibur and Mandalay Bay on 22nd floor of GRAND tower. This is the BEST tower. Better room views of strip would be the upper floors and room numbers 003 through 411, ODD only, which would look totally onto the strip (NY,NY).
**CHECK IN at Airport in baggage claim was quick and painless, note they can get you show tickets and a car too at the airport check-in. Be sure to swipe your CC when you checkin to be able to use the phone. Calls locally were only 1.00 each.
**The GRAND FLORAL shop sent up the most Beautiful Ecuardorean Red Rose bouquet as requested prior to check-in, which I confirmed at the Airport.
** THE CASINO was horribly tight as were almost all we went to, though we only played slots ($1/.25) and VP this trip. It was very crowded with families trying to get to rooms, and people going to the Aguillera/Timberlake concert.
It is very hard to navigate. The comps were inadequate, lost around $800 and checked and no food or dollar back comps yet, lost another couple hundred and got coffee shop credit of $40. which we didn't use.
**THE POOL was the BEST, absolutely the MOST FUN of this trip. Huge I mean Huge Lazy River ride thru a tropical landscaped garden around 3 pools with waterfalls and very nice bar service. Gorgeous cabanas ( hard to rent see trip report) and a different clientele at each pool. We didn't bring our kids but if we did we would come here and not Excalibur (the hotel cheaply themed by Kmart standards)again.
**THE FOOD was bland and forgettable and the buffet as well. The line for the buffet ques up early and they let you all in after a long 25 minute wait, then wait, after paying, again for a table. See Trip report for better nearby choices.
**THE LOCATION for us was great, we like to go to Luxor, NY,NY, Mandalay Bay and the Monte Carlo each for special reasons and we love to poke thru M&M world and Coke world and walk to Harley Davidson cafe or make a walk over to Walgreensfor forgotten essentials or Krispy Creme ( the actual bakery in Excalibur not the cold outlets) for hot essentials. It is very close to the airport for taxi or rental car pick-up and the airplane noise was unnoticeable.
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<Final RECOMMENDATION>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
If you have kids this is the best place for you! Stay in a Grand Deluxe room not suite with connecting rooms if necessary. So much for the family to do and see in Vegas, tell the old fogey stuffed shirts who tell you other wise to butt out. My kids love it and have from age 7 to 15. Though I hate to see strollers and little ones up late, in casinos. If you come to gamble this is a good location for homebase, especially if you rent a car to go Downtown or venture further up strip. Where-ever or when-ever you go there is NOTHING else like VEGAS.Have fun.

We stayed at the MGM Grand in late June. We loved the airport check in,
very convenient. We uprgraded to a room on a higher floor (only $20) and
were thrilled that we did. Our room had a great bathroom. It was very
spacious and the water pressure was excellent. The beds were very
comfortable and the room was very clean. We tipped our maid and she
made the extra effort to do just a few more things for our room. The room
was nice and quiet as well. I never heard anyone getting on and off the
elevators (we were very close to the elevators). The pool here is excellent.
Great bar as well. The only complaint I would have would be to LEAVE
YOUR KIDS AT HOME. I am only 23 and I long for an adult vacation. Take
the kids to Disney, they would have more fun. Anyway, there is one pool
that is for adults only which is nice. There were a lot of people waiting to
get to the pool but we didn't have a problem finding a seat. The buffet is
also great. Definately worth the money if you can get in when there isn't a
line. All the employees were very nice. We needed directions several
times and they were always helpful. Overall, I really liked this hotel and
would definately stay there again.

My wife and I spent 4 days of our summer vacation in LV at the MGM Grand. We had spent some vacation time at New York New York last summer and were drawn to the MGM Grand. We had a terrific time during this visit. We used the check-in service at the airport, saved us messing with lines in the main lobby. We liked our room very much. The service staff was very friendly. I knicked my finger and I asked the housekeeping manager if she knwe where I could get a band-aid, she smiled and got me a band aid from her office, and seemed quite happy to help.
The restaurants are a nice selection of prices and choices.
The casino is large and open, I like that.
The only thing to complain about I feel is the obvious, it's BIG, it takes awhile to figure out where you're going and just as long to get there.
All in all, we had a great time and will return.

First, the good stuff. Front desk staff was efficient and courteous. Room was a good size, very clean, and had a good view. Chambermaids were unobtrusive and thorough. Breakfast buffet was good, and the wait wasn't too bad.

Now, the bad stuff. MGM is WAY too big. The walk from the elevator to the room was ridiculously long. Also, MGM is too far at the south end of the strip. The walk up to the center of the strip (to see the Bellagio's fountains, the Mirage's volcano, and Treasure Island's Pirate Battle) was a haul. Also, there were way too many kids, (I hate the whole "family-friendly Las Vegas" thing) many unsupervised and lurking on the edges of the casino, waiting for their parents to finish gambling. Disturbing.

A good bang for the buck if you insist on bringing your kids and you don't mind doing a lot (a lot!) of walking. My advice: save up your money, wait for a deal, and stay at the Venetian or Caesars. It's worth it!

Overall good visit. I had never stayed at MGM because many people told me it was just too big. It was not. Once you got there it was pretty easy to find your way around, not like the Ventian. Checked in at the airport and offered the $20 tip for an upgrade which the clerk refused and then upgraded me for $10 a night for two nights? The upgraded room (Grand Tower) was very nice, not a great view. Buffet was very good and I liked the way they had steaks in addition to Prime rib. Also found out you should park your own car rather than valet as you basically have to just walk to the valet area to park and then not have to wait for them to get it for you.
Didn't gamble at the casino as there were no $5 tables after noon and could not find a seat at the $10 tables. So I lost my money elsewhere. Overall good visit.

This is the second time I stayed at MGM. The first time was after it first opened.

My main gripe is that they do not track the play of $5 table game players. I will play blackjack for hours and adjust my bets up from $5 as I get on a winning streak. Upon sitting down at a BJ table and presenting my card I was told by the pit boss that they don't track $5 players. I interpret this to mean that my business doesn't matter to them. They should have humored me and given me a sandwich at the deli after 3 days of play.

My business went elsewhere after this. I've never had this occur in any other casino outside of LV (AC, Reno, Tahoe, Peoria, and Conn).

Prior to this incident I never found anything interesting about the casino since they remodeled it (post Wizard of Oz). The waitress service was horrible for the single hour I did play there. Everyone at the table was complaining about it and the pit boss did nothing.

The room was clean but not worth the money. The walk from the elevator to the room was very far due to the rediculously long hallway.

I've stayed at several other casinos over the years and find their themes to be much more interesting and enjoyable.

Didn't stay at the hotel but wagered in the casino. The slots don't give you money but rather tickets. The problem is trying to cash these tickets. I had to wait in a long line.. FRUSTRATING... then be told SORRY.. our computers are down. I got so upset that they called over security. He asked what was the problem & I stated that I wanted to get paid. He echoed the same response.. Our computers are down.. I responded that I didn't care about their problems.. I put cash in a machine.. I won and now I'd like to be paid.. Is this too much to ask of a casino. The amount is printed on the ticket, why do you need a computer to read it???? .. He responded angrily that I had to wait 10 minutes and I said that was totally unacceptable.. Would they agree if I asked for chips and told them I'd give the cash in 10 minutes.. I doubt it. This place is okay if you lose but they don't like to pay. My wife & I visit Las Vegas twice a year but will NEVER set foot in this place again. Imagine a casino not wanting to pay a winner. They give Las Vegas a bad name.

We moved here from another hotel, where we were very unhappy, and we made a great decision! This is a wonderful hotel! The room in the Grand Tower was wonderful! The service was wonderful. We can not say enough good things about this hotel. We cannot wait to return and will go back to this hotel. The pool area was wonderful. We enjoyed, the casino, the restaurants, the shops and the location!

Stayed April 13-18
Used airport check in [5 min.], picked up rental car,MGM garage was easy to find and had plenty of spaces. We stayed in the Grand Tower, the room was nice plenty big, very large bathroom. The hotel is huge, but after the first day you can find your way around pretty well. The pool area is very nice, they have 5 pools counting the Lazy River. The cafe' at the pool has good food at a good price,we ate breakfast there a few times.
The location was good, it's on the south end of the strip, New York, New York, Excalibur,Luxor, Tropicana, M. B., are all there, and they're all linked by skywalks,or trams. My kids really liked the arcade, and the Tournament of Kings show at the Excalibur.
I read other peoples comments before we left on vacation, most of the complaints were about the tight machines and poor drink service in the casino, I'm not a gambler and I don't drink much but I did spend an hour one day watching what went on in the casino, and the cocktail waitresses seemed to be nailed to the floor, I saw 1 drink delivered the whole time I was watching, the rest of the time They stood around talking.
The one thing I didn't like was the Rain Forest Cafe', we called down and the lady told us the wait was about 15 min., YEH, to get a number, then you stood around until they called your number, so you could stand in line to get in, it took well over an hour. The service was good, the inside was really nice but it wasn't worth the wait, the food was so-so and over priced. I wouldn't recommend it at all.
We had a great stay, the service was great, we checked out at the 4th desk [2min.]. We will stay there the next time we go.
FREE TIPS:
1. Rent a car, it's cheap on line. [$116 for 5 days]
2. Don't try to do too much, take a break from sight seeing and sit by the pool.
3. Don't be cheep, if you want good service tip the maid everyday, or anyone else that helps you, maybe that's why the cocktail waitresses stand around talking, I don't know! [ if that's the case that doesn't say much for their bosses]
4. If you're staying in Grand Tower and you don't want to walk through the casino to get to the strip, use the elevators all the way at the end of the Emeral Towers hallway, it comes out right by the street.

Overall we really like the MGM. Staying for 4th time soon. Try their house machines (majestic lions for a dollar) as well as the blazing 7 banks near the elevators.
Buffet is a little on teh high $$ side, but the food is always good and plentiful.

During our stay we visited many hotels. We were pleased to see we made the right choice where we stayed. The room was great. The choice offered in terms of entertainment and resturants is unmatched. The casino is spacious and a joy to walk around. The slots seemed a bit tight. The location being at the south end seemed a negative at first but it turned out to be pretty easy to get around. Also I think the south end is the place to be anyway. Walkways connect you to the NY NY to the west and the Tropicana to the south. Its an easy walk from there to the Excaliber and a tram ride to the Luxor or Mandalay Bay from there. Out the North exit is a pickup point for the trolly that will take you anywhere on the strip for $1.65.

this place is massive... you have to walk a country mile to any attraction they have. room was dated, with faded furnishings and a sofa that was starting to become threadbare. the wait at checkin was almost 1 hour, totally unacceptable. the casino is sprawling over seemingly several acres, the machines in denominations from $.25 to $10 all played very tight- never had a machine get above the credits I started with, seemed you had to lose 12 to win 10 CONSTANTLY. the staff seemed nonchalant about serving guests... which made me feel like one of the hundreds of cattle the see go through their little worlds each day. the night clubs had long waits and when we finally got into the clubs THEY WERE 3/4 EMPTY. the MGM sucks.

I had a great time here. I went Feb 3 to Feb 7 and just loved it. Maybe I was just lucky, but when my stay was up, I ended up with 2 free buffets and one nights stay knocked off my bill for my play in the casino, plus they are discounting my room stay for my April 8-12 2004 Grand Tower-King stay by $28.30 a night.

As long as they are willing to give me a discount on a nice room, I will stay there again and again.

The MGM is flat out one of the coolest hotels in the world. The main attraction is the sheer size of it. Location on the strip is great, being near several other nice properties. The bar areas are very cool to hang out in, especially weekend nights. There are usually plenty of single people hanging out there, and you are bound to strike up a conversation with someone.

The casino is sprawling, and has several areas for table games and seemingly thousands of slots. It was almost funny the first time I went in and nearly got lost. Honestly, it helps to print out the casino map from their website just so you know where the heck you are going.

The rooms were very clean with modern decorating. Mine had no exhaust fan in the bathroom, though...weird.

Overall, a very nice experience, albeit at a price. Not quite the value that some nearby hotels have, such as NY/NY or Tropicana, but you get what you pay for. I would go back again.

This was my first time in Vegas, MGM Grand was an excellent hotel, me and my wifw stayed in the Grand Tower and the room was as we expected, an Non smoking room with a king size bed, very clean, no odors, the furniture was neat, aparently new or in very good condition, the bathroom very clean and everything works perfectly, the airconditioning was perfect and the vents were clean, the view of the city and the oportunity of catch an unforgetable sun rise was very romantic. The restaurants and the amenities were fabulous, The location of the hotel is also very convenient, you can walk all the way via the strip and everything is near. The casino is huge and with a excellent decoration, We didn't win anything but had a good time, by the way, nobody wins at the casinos. No extrange odors in the casino, very clean. The staff at the front desk very friendly and also the staff in the ticket center. One thing I like very much is the facility at the airport for checking in, very convenient. I will definitly stay again at the MGM Grand. Roberto Morales

I did a lot of shopping around to get a good price for a hotel and by signing up at the MGM Grand website I received an incredible deal. The rate was $69. per night for a Tower Room and I got the third night free which brought the rate down to $47. per night. I checked in at the airport so no line problem. I was told that my room was in the process of being cleaned so I would have to go to the hotel and use a courtesy phone to get my room #. But guess what? The clerk wrote it down on my key card folder so I already knew it. Upon arrival I was impressed by the beautiful, spacious marble lobby and it was not difficult to find the elevator banks to the rooms. I would have preferred a room closer to the elevators but the room itself was huge and beautiful. The bathroom was spacious as well and had a nice assortment of toiletries. The huge desk was a nice touch in the bedroom. I had a gigantic king size bed. The view overlooked the back of the strip hotels but still had a decent view of the Stratosphere tower and the mountains. I kept the drapes back day and night to enjoy the view. The only problem I had was that the ice machine was located by the elevators and this was a hike. I had to make it point of taking a plastic ice bucket liner with me whenever I left the room so I could bring ice back whenever I returned to the room. The casino slots were very tight but I finally found a "Wheel of Fortune" 50 cent machine and did okay there. I guess it's no secret that the strip hotels are getting very tight and I didn't find any other hotel with better payout on the strip.
The only meals I ate in the hotel were breakfasts in the buffet and that place was excellent. Probably the best buffet servers in Las Vegas.
All in all I found the hotel to be one of the most beautiful in Vegas only exclipsed by the Mandalay Bay in overall beauty. I found both the Venetian and the Bellagio difficult to navigate in and congested (of course this would be due to the number of visitors). I think for a homebase the MGM Grand more than met my needs and with these prices you don't have to gambel away thousands to get comped.

my husband and i have just spent two weeks ( over christmas ) at the mgm grand and it was fantastic! this was our third visit to this hotel and it just gets better and better. the staff, the service, the room everything was excellent and top it all they gave us a three night deduction off the room bill,$150 cash for using their directors club whilst playing the slots. we stayed in a bungalow suite which was a bargain as it only cost us the same as a tower room did last year, and that was before the deduction.the restaurants are pretty good there too,all except the buffet which we thought was awful. the food was very poor quality for a fairly high price. the studio cafe was excellent if a bit pricey. overall having stayed in several big resorts we think the mgm cosistantly comes out tops for service, standards and value. if you like to be well taken care of and treated nice this is the place.!!!

Although we did not stay here, we find ourselves dropping a lot of money in their machines. I would really like to see the slots a bit looser so you don't lose your money in 2 minutes. It would be nice if it would at least give you some playing time before taking your money.
My other complaint is that I sure would like to see a non-smoking Room. It is offensive to me to have someone sit down next to me and blow smoke in my face when I do not smoke. It is also unhealthy! We try to sit far away from smokers, but they seem to find us somehow. The casino itself is very nice and the place is huge.

The hotel was great, I got a great rate directly from their website. Hotel staff was very friedly. The location was good but a bit far from other Hotels we wanted to check out. We recommend the Fountains at the Bellagio and the Gondolas at the Venetian. I feel that Las Vegas was a bit overpriced on everything. The shows are very expensive and so are all the shops.
The Grand Buffet at MGM was great. Bally's buffet sucked. The casino is also good at MGM but could use some lower limit tables.

In my opinion, this Hotel and Casino is the best. However, I thought the following might help someone else. On the evening of the 8th of October, I was winning quite a bit on the quarter slots. I had a bucket full of quarters when I felt coins hitting my right foot. Dummy like I thought I had dropped the quarters off the apron of the machine. I just looked down and saw a few nickels and a quarter on the floor. I thought that was weird and when I looked back at my machine my bucket of quarters was missing. Of course nobody had seen anything. This was about $150.00 which was stolen from me. When I turned this into Security, they did not really seem to care. I told them the machine number and the time, but they just said this a ploy thieves use. The Change people said the Casino was very concerned about this type of theft, but you would not know this when talking to Security. Just thought everyone should be on the lookout for this type of thievery.

I had a great experience at the MGM. I checked in at the airport...no problem. Took the Coach USA shuttle to the hotel....no problem. Went up to the room in the grand tower...problem! It was an adjoining room and there was lots of noise on the other side of the door so I immediately went to the front desk to change rooms. The front desk agent was friendly and accomodating...he gave me a better room with a better view for the same price! The room was nice and very clean and quiet. I don't really care for the casino at the MGM, and I didn't play there...just my preference. The pool areas were nice, but most of the pools closed at 6PM! HUH? In August??? Strange! Also, the MGM was mobbed for some reason...loads of people at all hours of the day. I didn't like that. Didn't get a chance to try the buffet...the lines were too long! All in all, a nice stay and would return in the future.

For your information, if you need medical assistance, they have a clinic ! Just ask a security guard and he'll organize free transportation for you very quickly...and they bring you back to the hotel !
Will stay there again in the future !

Few friends and I saved up some money and treated ourselves to the Terrace Suites! It was worth $500 a night! A jacuzzi outside on the patio and the patio over looks the strip...the patio's also bigger than most regular rooms in vegas. It had a dining area also! Inside was a treat too...two floors, DVD surround sound. Big bedroom with bose stereo CD player. It was like I was in a movie! MGM's so big it's kinda tough to come back to your room after a night of binge drinking. But with a room like the one we had, we spent alot of time partying there! Service was great and the spa was ok but not good as Mandalay Bay! I go to Vegas often and I try to stay at different places and suites as possible...MGM Grand's suite was #1 on the list so far.
Pool area was super! Lazy river's way better than the one at Mandalay. Workout room was kinda small but nice. Studio 54 was major fun. Slots are tight but won alot in blackjack!
MGM's location's great because that end of the strip's really hopping!

The room we stayed in looked like your typical hotel room in both size and appearance. It was however clean and tidy. The bathroom was a decent size and had plenty of space for toiletries, etc. I did not pay for the room so I cannot comment on its value.

Casino atmosphere was lively and generally friendly and looked to be one of the biggest casinos on the strip. The only thing I did not like about it was that I didn't win!

I would stay at this hotel again if given a good deal.

Our visit to the MGM Grand started our with great customer service. We decided to upgrade our rooms and they even let us check in early. We were there from July 2nd - July 5th. Our teenage (age 15) loved the youth arcade room. The buffel were great. We obtained (2) wheelchairs from the Bell Desk for my Mother and Great Aunt at no cost. There was only one miscommunicatiom problem when I asked at the Bell Desk if they had someone who could take my mom's bloodpressure they told no. So we had to walk to Walgreens about (3 Las Vegas blocks)they sent us to the Harmon Medical Center down the block (3 long blocks) from Walgreen. Harmon Medical Center treated us very, very well they took my Mother's blood pressure without even checkin her in and they provided us a courtesy ride back to our hotel. However, most hotels will provide transportation to and from a hospital for hotel guests. We also learned always call security they usually have an EMS person on duty.

The second day I realized I had lost $200 in travels checks. I went down to the American Express office located at the entrance of MGM and presto....they replaced my money.

The last and final day my husband got sick, check-out was at 11am and our plane
didn't leave until 6pm that evening. The people at the MGM Grand were really nice about extending our time time to 3pm....at no charge so that my sick husband and Mom (with the high blood pressure) could rest before the fly.

So despite all the negative things I read. The water level in the bathroom was great, we always had hot water, plenty of towels and even room service was A+.

Very impressive. Hotel/Casino has a very extensive array of services and features. Could actually stay here and never leave the property.
But, since most people like to "tour", my only negative comment is related to location. Too bad it's not located in the "center strip" area, nearer to Bellagio, Caesar's, Venetian, etc....
Would stay here again.

When deciding which hotel to stay at, my husband and I chose another hotel which was newer and more expensive. However, we will definitely stay at the MGM from now on. The winnings were great, shows are excellent, and everyone there seems like they're having a great time. We walked everyday down to this hotel to play the slots-which paid out every time. I would recommend the oxygen bar, any of the restaurants, and the shows at the EFX. There were a lot of families there, and unlike a lot of the other hotels-we felt very comfortable here all the time. MGM Grand stay was good but it was better in the 90s when they had the OZ Attraction.I heard the Oz attraction was destroyed. Lion Habitat is good if you like lions. Rainforest Cafe was fun and the food was good. Studio Cafe used to have good food but lately it was tasteless and cold. The staff is quite friendly. My big complaint was the check-in; we had to wait an hour to get service. Also, it took a navigator to find the elevators up to our room in the Hollywood Tower. We had a great view facing the Excalibur and Luxor. The Gift Shop was one of the best in Vegas as is the location at the Crossroads of the World. Be careful of the toilets, mine overflowed for no reason. I was too tired to call room service, so I cleaned up the mess myself. What a way to spend a night in Vegas!

Well this is my 4th year in a row for staying at the MGM. I go to Vegas every year for a week, and the MGM keeps on winning my return business.
Since I had several Vegas Virgins with me this year, this trip was more of a "tourist trip" than a gambling trip. As usual, I was totally pleased with the MGM, and so were my friends. I got a great deal through the Directors Club: 5 nights - $59 a night, 2 free tickets to EFX, 2 free Buffets, $10 gambling money, and coupon book. As usual, the room was perfect with a great view. The EFX tickets and show were great. We were 5 rows back and just off center. We also saw La Femme, which proved to be the most erotic and beautiful experience of my life. WOW. As usual the food was fantastic. Nob Hill is just top notch, and is a "must do." The Rainforest Cafe was fun and delicious as it is every year. Even the buffet proved to be convenient and tasty. However, Olio was fantastic last year, but the food and service was a bit off this year. I hope it was just a bad night and not a trend. My friends loved the pool, and I loved the craps tables. The dealers, along with the rest of the MGM staff are always helpful, friendly, and professional.
From begining to end, the MGM was a fun, friendly, and class act. The MGM is a one-stop-shop. They have it all from live bands, live animals, fun dealers, lots of tables, tons of slots, fantastic food, great bars, wonderful spa, thrilling pool, and an awesome club. I'll be coming back for sure.

I am surprised to hear some of the negative comments made by other people about this hotel. I guess everyone has different experiences. I would like to say that the service here is excellent! When i checked in at the front desk, the staff was friendly and helpful. They told me i can upgrade if i wanted to anytime during my stay for only $10/night more. They would clean my room whenever i wanted it cleaned because i got up kinda late and had the privacy sign on the door. Yeah, there is a loooong walk from the main elevators to the emerald tower rooms(the ones i stayed in), but all u have to do is go in the entrance closest to the Showcase Mall and it takes you right to the Emerald Tower rooms. It is very convenient. The room was a bit small, but I don't care because i only paid $59/night- even on Friday! I got that price off the mgm grand website! The rooms were good for the price and the hotel is beautiful! I felt like i was high class staying there. I am used to staying at the Excalibur and San Remo. i satyed at the monte carlo before and that was beautiful too!-(my fave!) The buffet was also very good! And they gave me a 2 for 1 coupon for it when i checked in! I also like that the mgm has a monorail that goes to Bally's every 10 minutes. i know it's not always the best idea to walk to the other hotels in 110 degree weather! My advice to you- the Mgm Grand is a GREAT place to stay!- great location! Stay in the Grand Tower rooms if u care what the room looks like and if u r on a budget stay in the Emerald tower- remember u can always upgrade for a small cost! The rooms r also very clean!

MGM Grand was an excellent hotel for me to visit on my first stay to Vegas!.

I found that the service was friendly and excellent. We arrived to the hotel around 1pm and checked in with no line ups or hassle. We also were able to go straight to our room which was a bonus after a very long flight. Stayed in the Grand tower where I found the room to everything that I expected ( large and clean with a great view of the NY NY and Monte Carlo....floor 28) The room stewards were also very efficient. Left a $4 tip after the first night and when we returned we had loads of free extra stuff....well worth the tip. All the staff that I encounted at this hotel were friendly and willing to help. Don't gamble much and stay at the low limit end and was still offered many drinks. Check out was not a problem either...All in all I would recomend this hotel to others wishing to stay here as my trip was a very pleasurable one. We booked the room directly through MGM's web site at $69 per night.

my wife and i didn't stay here, but we gambled and ate there a lot. we won tons of nickels here which was great fun. Service was good, drinks were always there. The buffet was expensive but it was tops! The best buffet we ate at in vegas. Decor was cheesy (pastels, vinyl and B&W movie stills) but so what? Buffet staff was friendly and efficient. We moved all over the casino but had the most luck in a small area of nickel slots by the lion habitat (lions looked absolutely bored- poor things!). We had a ball. Wanted to see George Carlin but we're cheap and didn't want to pay $60 apiece, so we played more slots. Might stay at MGM if price is right- will definitely gamble and eat there next visit.

Stayed last year & year before @ MGM for dance competitions. Absolutely love the pool area- how do you get one of those gorgeous cabanas? I still can't figure that out. Plan on going in March 04 for spring break, so if anyone knows how to rent one or has any experiences with it, please email me! Renting one of those cabanas is my life goal! :-) Did not gamble due to age but visited lion habitat, shops, etc. Hated Rainforest Cafe- made me sick. Love Marshall Russo's- cutest stuff ever. Make sure you also go down the street to the World of Coke and M&M's World. Very fun. Did not pay for room myself but would have no qualms spending my own money there. Staff is hard to find and guests run rampant throughout hotel. Overall very fun place, though!

I had booked a spa suite for over mother's day weekend, when the town was empty and the rates low. I had requested, a number of times, a strip view. When we arrived there was no strip view to be had, unless we downgraded. The way it was handled by the desk clerk is what irked me. Once, in the room, I called the reservations agent and she made an attempt to get the room we wanted. It didn't happen until the next day, but at least SHE tried. Emeril's fish house is fantastic and I won at the Carrib. Poker table (two fullhouses in three hands!). It was okay, but next time we go back to the Mirage.

Having been to Vegas many times and visited the MGM on several of those trips, I was a little hesitant about my stay here. It was paid for by work so I didnt have a choice but I can say that I was pleasantly surprised. The place is HUGE but getting around in it isnt as bad as I had expected. If you stay in the Grand Tower, everything is pretty close to the elevators. The rooms are fairly decent and even though I checked in at midnight, they still got me a nice strip view of NYNY and Excalibur. It did bother me that the largest hotel on the planet cant spare someone to check room keys at the elevator. Also, room service sat outside of the rooms for far too long. Aside from that and the 3 mile trek out to the conference center, it really was a pretty decent experience.

Booked a Grand Tower room for the week starting Memorial Day. Used the airport check in desk, which was very convenient. The room was very good. It was a single king bed room, with a couch (actually more like an erzatz day bed), which I like, a good size writing desk, and armoir with the TV, an in room safe, and some drawers and shelves, and a good size closet. They give you an iron and ironing board (which I didn't use) The bathroom was fine. It single sink in a marble counter, a tub/shower. It was more than big enough, with plenty of towels, storage space, and water pressure. I had a north strip view, which was nice, but this isn't really a 'view' hotel.

The casino decore was a bit over the top Glitzy (my favorite is Bellagio, which is intentionally toned down a bit). Played a little here, but more elsewhere. There are no great deals on gambling here. And yes the place is BIG, and more than a little confusing. The pool complex is very nice. I expected it (the pool and the hotel in general) to be overrun with kids. This was not the case. I stayed at the Hard Rock last year, and there was more and better eye candy here than I remember from the HR. The HR does have a more interesting design for the pool area though.
Parking wasn't a problem, although getting from the hotel to the self parking garage is a bit of a trek. The one time I used the valet, it worked quite well

All in all I was very happy with this hotel. I would be inclined to stay here again, but I think for the next trip, I want to up in the mid-strip area.

My husband and I have stayed here several times. We like the rooms in the Grand Tower better than the Emerald Tower because they are much nicer. The pools were very nice but only some of them were open depending on what day we went. The buffet was okay - we liked the breakfast better than the dinner buffet. Some areas of the casino floor made it nearly impossible to get a drink. However, you can eat and drink as much as you want and not gain a pound because after staying there a week you definitely will walk it all off!

I've been to Las Vegas on COUNTLESS occasions and have not had a worse stay at a hotel than the MGM Grand. I came with a group of 5 and we all were very unhappy with the stay. We received what we thought were great rates for a stay at a prime location. We were put up in the Emerald Tower with a terrific view of a wall. From my room, very little light could even get in. When you looked out you had to look up to see anything as you were in a "hole". Not only that, but there was all kinds of garbage in this hole that was sitting just outside the window. The room was smaller than any room I've ever stayed in while visiting. It was very old looking and not the cleanest either. To get from the parking structure to the room you literally had to walk over a mile (with your bags) through the crowded casino. Finally, the worst of all, each day I was there the maintenance crew started working on the room next to me at 7 AM hammering away like crazy. The casino was the tightest I've ever been to. I can't say I had any winning in the entire week I was there.

The very few good things I can say are as follows. Location is outstanding being close to my favorite area of the strip. Breakfast buffet is outstanding. I love those freshly prepared omeletts. Airport check in is a GREAT idea...do you hear this all you other hotels? That is all. I would recommend avoiding this spot and staying at a nearby comperable hotel. You'll be glad you did.

Ok - To make this short and sweet. If you stay at this hotel - you must upgrade. I do not like paying the extra money for a fancy room (after all, you only sleep in there) but in this case you have to. The Emerald Tower rooms are crappy. We started out there. We tried to upgrade and it would cost us $30 extra a night. Even when my BF Showed his firefighter badge (they wouldn't do anything good for us) Well, long story short, we got a message that the hotel needed to upgrade us to a different room because there was a work order on our bathroom (our room reminded us of our bad trip to cancun).

We got the upgraded room with an actual view of something (the tropicana) not the best, but atleast it wasn't a building like the Emerald Tower room. The rooms were very noisy as well. I think the way it's built, the sounds get trapped and echo. The helicopter flights I thought were going to land in our room. I thought our window was open when the ambulances came by at night (at least 3-4 a night) because they were so loud.

One night we came back at 5:00 to get ready for dinner and to make our show at 7:30 and there was NO soap in the room. I had to call down and they didn't show up until after we came back that night. Needless to say, no shower before dinner. Luckily we weren't really sweaty.

All in All, I think you could stay somewhere nicer for the same if not cheaper price.

Janet

We had three adults in one room and were very comfortable. Despite the fact that the MGM is very close to the airport, we weren't bothered by airplane noises. The casino had a floral smell about it which covered the smoke smell pretty well. The only thing disappointing about the whole experience was the lion habitat, which is not a habitat at all but just a small area where they bring in a couple of lions and let them play for a couple of hours before bringing them back to whereever they really live. Still, what do you want for free? We ate at Wolfgang Puck's Cafe which was outstanding - try the spinach dip appetizer. We also ate at Ricardo's mexican which was even better. They carry about ten different flavors of margeritas. We had orange margeritas and coconut margeritas and they were great. Finally, we ate at Emeril's New Orleans Fishhouse and it was the best meal we had all week. Highly recommended. We saw EFX in the preferred seats on the first night we were there and we thought it was better than the other shows we saw that week, which included Sigfreid and Roy. We'd love to go back but I hope they get some kind of public transportation system installed that goes all the way up to the Stratosphere as it was a hell of a long walk and a cab ride will cost you about ten bucks plus tip. By the way, we saw Michael Jordan in Studio 54 on Saturday night and Marshall Faulk was on our flight back so we even got some celebrity sightings in.

Stayed in one of the Villas on the 29th Floor. What a great room!! Better than any other high end room at any of the other name hotels on the strip. This is the first time I've been back to the MGM in about 18 months. I was quite impressed with the renovations since my last visit. New restaurants were a great addition. I liked it so much that I think I'll just stay there from now on rather than bounce around from hotel to hotel.

I had a very pleasant experience at this hotel. I stayed in the Grand tower for 5 nights and was pretty impressed. The rooms were very spacious and comfortable, the bathroom was fancy shmancy and all of that, the service was good, the buffet was very good in the morning and okay for lunch and dinner, but what I enjoyed most about this hotel is the pools. The rover pool was the best! It is 1/4 mile long and very relaxing. But unfortunately there was a child there who took a crap in the pool, so it was closed for 3 hours.. The buffet is a really good value in the morning. They gave us coupon books and we got 2 for 1 at the buffet anytime, but we didnt like the lunch and dinner that much so we ate breakfast there. It came out liek 5.00 a person. One thing I was dissapointed about is the casino. I used to win before but I lost there the last time, but lucky for me I won big at Aladdin. I was also dissapointed that they closed the amusement park. It was a good value. What I was disapointed about most though is that there is not coffee machine in the room. I thought there would be since it was a grand tower... I guess they want you to buy from starbucks downstairs.. But overall I had a great time..

We went cheap and stayed in the Emerald Tower. The Emerald Tower is an extension of the arm main tower which reaches towards the strip. The Main Tower houses the Grand rooms. The Grand rooms are a little larger and nicer than the Emerald tower rooms. The biggest draw back to the Emerald Tower rooms is the extrodanarily LONG walk from the main elevators to your room. However, if you use the Emerald Tower elevators, it's a short walk.

For us, the Emerald tower worked out pretty well. The E Tower elevators dropped us off right next to a door we could walk out of and explore the strip.

The MGM Grand is a huge property and tries to provide something for everyone. If you're looking for a resort you could stay at and never leave, this would fit the bill.

Restaurants run from cheap burgers and fries to the top celeberty chefs like Wolfgang Puck and Emeril. We ate at their coffee shop, Ricardo's (Tex Mex), The Grand Wok, and the buffet during our stay.

They have a huge casino with a good offering of all the slot machines and decent video poker. There are also lot's of table games.

Overall we had a good visit at the MGM but felt that it wasn't the best value of places we've stayed at. Perhaps if we had stayed in one of the Grand rooms we might have felt different. For this trip we paid $67/night mid-week which seems to be a decent price for MGM. I just feel like we've had comperable rooms in other resorts for less money.

Overrated! I guess my feelings were influenced by the fact that I didn't win any money during my trip, especially at the MGM! The hotel is very clean, large gambling area in addition to many different restaraunts and bars. However, no real theme to the hotel other than posters of famous "MGM" actors and movies. The hotel room was VERY average, no better than a Holiday Inn. Was dissappointed that the Emerald Tower rooms do not include safes (only Grand Tower rooms). Also, make sure you find the shortcut elevators to the Emerald Tower rooms such as the ones by the Rainforest Cafe. My only true COMPLAINT is that if you are betting games in the MGM's sports book you WILL NOT be served free drinks like other sports books such as the one in the Mirage. In fact the afternoon I was there, the sports book was crowded however there was no wait staff. You had to go get your drinks yourself. I realize my legs are not broken and I can go to the bar myself, but come on this is Vegas, you expect to be waited on. I do have two compliments to the staff: 1. Young lady at the check in counter informed me that I could check out 1 hour later free of charge (from 11am to Noon) 2. the doorman who retrieves taxi's out front brokered a deal for an Escalade stretch limo at $55 per hour for my party of 16 people. When I go back to Vegas I will be staying at an older hotel on the strip such as the Flamingo or the Tropicana.

stayed at MGM and both times had a room in the grand tower. Rooms were not
real exciting but were above average. We did not win much ourselves but saw
many other people winning. Make sure you join their slot club. We don't

MGM is HUGE! You really can't believe it til you see it or stay there. And it suffers in many aspects due to that fact IMO. Staff frequently is overwhelmed by the sheer number of people they deal with. It is located at the south end of the strip, which makes it somewhat of a drag as the strip is 3 miles long! And you can easily walk 5 - 10 miles a day if sightseeing on the strip.

The casino is huge and very disorienting --- far more than most --- and you will get lost more than once, I'm sure, The free lion exhibit is nice, though not as big as I would have thought.

Rooms are good ( we stayed in the Emarald Tower, which I think are the cheaper rooms ). Trust me though, you won't walk away overly impressed. But they are clean. We stayed in a "NON SMOKING" room, but could tell that smokers did smoke there, as the smell of smoke was evident.

The MGM is "OK". But there are better hotels at better prices, with better location ( Treasure Island comes to mind. ) But MGM, like TI is very family friendly, and that may be a big bonus for you.

As long as you don't expect too much, you won't be disappointed.

We checked in to the Emerald tower....wow---I have never seen a hotel room this bad...I have seen bigger closets...really cheap bathrooms. I immediately begged for a different room and was willing to pay more...trust me, do not stay in the tower unless a really cheap room doesn't bother you. When we were moved it was much better. We have been to Las Vegas five times. We took our daughter on this trip for the first time. MGM is the only place I would bring kids in Las Vegas. The pool area is great, but very crowded with the "college crowd." The kids club is great ($8 an hour per kid). The casino is nice, but no poker. The food is good, buffet okay, rainforest cafe, great. Good location. Seriously, Las Vegas is not a great vacation for non-gamblers or families. We love to gamble and will continue to go back.

A friend and I stayed at the MGM Grand in May of 2001. While, I will admit that they are a little pricey and very LARGE, it was a great visit. I think all the strip hotels are large so that shouldn't be a deciding factor. The employees were helpful. The atmosphere is enjoyable. I especially loved EFX Alive with Rick Springfield. Having this high of caliber of a musician in their "regular" show speaks volumes for their commitment to excellence. The show is SPECTACULAR! Even if I wasn't staying at the MGM I would definately visit to see EFX Alive. WOW!

This was my 10th visit to Vegas, and the last three times I've stayed at the MGM. It's big, beautiful, and has the funnest slots! I go to Vegas always planning to come back empty handed, but the MGM's slots have sent me home with more than I came with! Check out the Family Feud slots, and Elvis is always a fun slot. While there, be sure to check out Rick Springfield in EFX. He put on an awesome show and interjected a lot of his old hits from the 80's.

A very elegant hotel with many great features. For starters, you don't have to go through the casino to get to the lobby or your room. The same holds true for the shopping center (which is small and overpriced). The elevators are layed out where certain elevators only go to certain floors. This eliminates long waits for boarding and getting from your room to the casino and visa-vera. There is also a convienient tram from Monte Carlo to Bellagio. The casino is also one of the few that offer single 0 roulette. We did not experience some of the problems that other visitors had like loud water pipes or thin walls. We had a beautiful view of the strip and would stay there again!

We enjoyed our stay at the MGM Grand, we arrived early asked for a room up high with a view the person at the desk said no problem I will save your room however it needs to be cleaned so come back at noon for your key. When we returned we got a different person she was very unfriendly and said our room was not saved and acted like we had just lied to her or something. If you stay here it is a must that you enjoy walking because this place is huge.
