Recently spent a night at the Nevada Palace during a week of random hotel-hopping in Las Vegas. Overall, the experience was good. The room was reasonably sized with an attractive view of the small pool area. However, there was a slightly rank smell in the air which only dissipated after windows were opened. I thought the buffet at the Boulder Cafe was quite good and reasonably priced, and the bar is excellent, with Guinness and Bass on tap. The place is reasonably well-positioned on the Boulder Strip, across the street from the Longhorn and within walking distance of Sam's Town and the 202 Flamingo city bus to the Strip. The pool is somewhat small and cold, and the lack of a bar nearby is a minus, but you get what you pay for. The casino had the usual slots and a few $1 roulette and $2 blackjack and craps tables, along with higher-stakes games. It is interesting to note that apart from check-in, one can access the hotel here without passing through the casino, as it is effectively a three-story motel-style structure with exterior corridors built next door to the casino. Overall, a pretty good value and a decent stay, especially given our desire to spend at least a day sampling the wonders of the Boulder Strip.

HAVE STAYED AT THE NEVADA PALACE SEVERAL TIMES. THE RESTAURANT BOULDER GRILL HAS DECENT FOOD AT PRICES WE CAN LIVE WITH. THE SMALL SNACK BAR IS EXCELLENT FOR A QUICK BITE. THE BAR PERSONS OVERALL ARE GOOD. THE FLOOR COCKTAIL WAITRESS IS EXCELLENT TO POOR. ONE WILL BE THERE WHEN YOU NEED HER BUT THE NEXT ONE COMES ON DUTY AND PRETENDS THAT YOU ARE NOT THERE. THE MACHINES, WILL HIT A JACKPOT EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE, UNLIKE THE "STRIP" WHEREAS THOSE CORPORATE BEAN COUNTERS WON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT LETTING YOU HOLD THE MONEY FOR A WHILE. MY PERSONAL RECORD AT VIDEO POKER IS THERE, 3 ROYAL FLUSHES IN LESS THAN 24 HRS!! THE FRONT DESK IS A LITTLE SLOW BUT VERY COOPERATIVE AND FRIENDLY, THEY WILL REMEMBER YOU AFTER A FEW VISITS, UNLIKE THEIR CORPORATE NEIGHBORS.
THE ROOMS, WELL THEY COULD BE BETTER, BUT THE PRICE COULD BE MUCH HIGHER ALSO. HEAH, LETS FACE IT YOU ARE NOT STAYING OR PAYING THE PRICE OF THE BELAGIO. THEY ARE CLEAN, ROOM SERVICE DOES AN EXCELLENT JOB, THEY DESERVE MORE OF YOU TO LEAVE EM A COUPLE OF DOLLARS ON THE PILLOW, BUT ONE DEFECT YOU NEED TO PREPARE FOR IS THE CHANGING OF WATER TEMPERTURE WHILE YOU ARE SHOWERING. NOT EXTREME CHANGE, BUT ENOUGH CHANGE TO GET YOUR ATTENTION. THAT HAS BEEN GOING ON EVERY SINCE I STARTED STAYING THERE YEARS AGO, I AM CERTAIN THEY HAVE HEARD ALL ABOUT IT, NO USE IN CALLING THE FRONT DESK. IF YOU DESIRE TO GO TO THE STRIP FOR A VISIT, YOU CAN WALK THE HALF MILE TO SAMS TOWN WHEREAS THEY HAVE SHUTTLES RUNNING TO THE STRIP. THEY QUIT RUNNING ABOUT 11 PM, IF YOU GET STUCK ON THE STRIP TAXI IS 15-20 DOLLARS, DEPENDING ON YOUR TIP. YOU CAN ALSO TAKE THE CITY BUS WHICH TAKES THEIR BREAKS BESIDE THE NEVADA PALACE. ABOUT 45 MIN TO AN HOUR BUS RIDE. OVERALL I RECCOMEND THE NEVADA PALACE TO THOSE BUDGET PERSONS THAT DO NOT NEED ALL LIFES GOLDEN AMENITIES, AND DONT MIND THE BLUE COLLAR LOCAL CROWD. IF YOU ARE FROM OUT OF TOWN, AND DONT KNOW WHERE TO GAMBLE I RECCOMEND THE NEVADA PALACE, IT SEEMS TO BE ABOUT AS LOOSE AS THEY GET WHICH IS NOT VERY LOOSE BUT AT LEAST YOU HAVE A CHANCE. DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT GAMBLING ON THE STRIP, JUST GO THERE TO ENJOY THE ENTERTAINMENT, WHICH IS EXCELLENT.
