Date Visited: 11/03 at the price i paid for (22 bucks a night) it was an excellent deal!all i really wanted was a place to sleep and shower...so it was perfect. i stayed 3 nights w/ a friend of mine. we split the cost ..so you can imagine what cheap skates we are! he he he. we had alotta fun there though. my friend brought his cam corder and recorded some action late night in front of the ogden house. As i was standing out front, puffing on some wacky tabacky...he was interviewing hookers and transients that were walking by. Some were friendly some where not. They were very interesting individuals. Either way...we got some good footage of it all. Definetly one trip i'll never forget!:D <dee3d -at- yahoo.com> - ` USA - Added 11/12/03 - [4.33.185.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 06/03 - Good Visit quiet, clean, economical, parking, casino across the street, near the strip, safe, excellent value <> - - Added 10/17/03 - [63.156.177.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 03/03 - Good Visit I must admit that I have a soft spot in my heart for the Ogden House, because it's the first place I ever spent a night in Las Vegas. It's a cheap, no-frills motel located next to the El Cortez. It has no casino, restaurant, or bar of its own, but is advertised as a sort of annex to the El Cortez both on their website and on the phone reservation service. Rooms are very small, with wire glass in the windows and cinder block walls. The beds are somewhat uncomfortable, and not quite long enough for my comfort. All in all, though, a decent value for $26 a night, although I'd prefer to stay somewhere with its own casino in case I want to have a drink and play a little VP at 6 in the morning. But in the event that I want to stay downtown again and find that the Gold Spike is booked (and don't want to stay at the Western, which is a bigger dump and further away from the main drag on Fremont), I'll probably find myself here. <coatesdj -at- uchicago.edu> - Chicago IL USA - Added 07/14/03 - [65.42.88.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 01/03 - Good Visit This is absolutely the best bargain in all of Vegas for the money!!!!!!!! <steven904 -at- webtv.net> - Las Vegas NV USA - Added 05/29/03 - [209.240.198***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 12/02 - Good Visit This was my first stay at the Ogden House, and it was very good! The room showed a great deal of "wear & tear", but the general comfort, quiet and security warrants an A-+ during my visit. The housekeeping was fine and the maid service was excellent as per the cost of $22 a night! The front desk staff was truly kind and professional, and I give them an A+ ! The Ogden House is now my choice for a comfortable stay in Las Vegas, due to the fine service, cleanliness, price, and that great air conditioning. The tub/shower combination included the most powerful shower spray I've enjoyed anywhere, and it was as clean as any pricey hotel. The El Cortez across the street offers the best food and gaming values in Las Vegas, so the Ogden House is a great value for lodging due to its location. <patricksd11 -at- aol.com> - San Diego CA USA - Added 11/25/02 - [64.12.96***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 11/02 - Good Visit I have stayed many places in Vegas, this one has the best dollar value for a place to sleep. Close to the casinos and local shopping areas (for the midnight snacker). Some of the rooms on the street side are illuminated by the street lights, which I don't like, not a place for anything less than teenage children. Safe and secure otherwise. Free parking is just across the street. Good luck, zig <gregziglar -at- yahoo.com> - Williams CA USA - Added 12/26/03 - [67.51.155.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 01/02 - Good Visit Ogden House Hotel. Located directly behind the El Cortez Casino. This is basically a no-frills hotel, which is used as an "annex" for El Cortez overflow guests. It's about 5 to 7 stories tall, and has an elevator. Rooms are very, very clean, and contain either two single beds or one queen bed at an unbelieveable $ 18.00 a night, plus tax. Each room also contains a TV, desk, chair, bedside table, and sitting chair. Bathrooms have spacious sink-top counters, and are nicely maintained. They recently re-surfaced the inside walls of these rooms, which were once simply white painted cinder block. The air conditioning is more than adequate on hot summer days. Rooms are not very big. If you're looking for a clean, safe place to rest up- you've found it. You'll either have a view of OGDEN STREET, or a view of the parking lot of the VISTA MOTEL. The Ice Machine is located on the first floor, and the service has always been very friendly. Small sitting area with magazine and brochure rack in lobby. Also- nice touch- the "Daily Specials" from the El Cortez restaurants are posted in a small frame on the check-in window. From the Ogden House, you can walk right across the street into El Cortez, and you'll be right at their snack bar. Bring back coffee and snacks to your room. Park your car in one of the two El Cortez lots. Some trivia, at no charge. Remember the movie " Casino? " Well, at the end of the movie, the character played by Sharon Stone slumps on the floor and dies in a hotel hallway. Well- that scene was filmed here at the Ogden House. On a recent trip, my wife and I met some students from Germany, who showed us a listing for Ogden House in a German language tourist book! They told us it was rated as a "moderate" hotel. I would rate it slightly lower than that, but again, this is basically a place to sleep when you're in Las Vegas. <tonyraisins -at- yahoo.com> - Bronx NY USA - Added 01/03/02 - [172.180.133.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 12/01 - Good Visit The best value in Vegas!
