Date Visited: 12/03 Let's get something strait before we go any further.. If you want glitzy, flamboyant,or the best shows, you really have no buisness being in Laughlin in the first place. What you will get is the best cockail service by both bartender and waitress, a buffet that,s cheap and not all that good. If you want a dark smokey bar they have it, if you want bright and new go to the new west casino with the newest machines ect... They have a non smoking section, a sports and race book second to none except maybe the edgewater. They flat out have more tickit-in video keno and slot machines than anybody on the river. Yes it is quite old in quite a few sections, could use some new carpet in places, but when I get another cold one delivered before Ive even finished my last the word service takes on a whole new meaning. <blm258 -at- aol.com> - Des Moines WA USA - Added 02/17/04 - [205.188.209***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 07/03 - Good Visit What a great place to stay with kids!! But I found our visit to the Don Laughlin's Riverside Casino so outstanding I wanted other families to know that this resort has it all for the FAMILY. While we checked the web's pros and cons on where to stay in Laughlin many place gave off the feel they really didn't want kids and families to bother them. At the Riverside we found fun and activities all day and all night. We swam then took in a great first run movie Friday night in the theater "G" rated, played in the arcade and went for ice cream on the way to our nice room. The next day we rented a jet ski and played on the river for a few hours, then to the Chinese resturant then to the pool again for a little swim and reading. Then we left the kids in the "kids kastle" area. With suppervised personel for a few hours so mom and dad to do what we do at casino's.Donate our money to the establishment at the craps table and the slots.Afterwards we picked up our children we went bowling at the alley in the casino with the blacklight and music called Cosmic bowling. My kids loved it.The only drew back of the whole stay was the cosmic bowling is so fun all the local teens show up there to particapate so we couldn't get a lane until the local curfew came into effect at midnight. After bowling it was back to the ice cream shop for our late night treat. All this at the same casino. Never have I found a more family friendly place. I will be back ecpecially since I live in Palm Springs. The attitude was casual and friendly. My girls even got me to shop in the outlet mall across the street. <amenair -at- dc.rr.com> - USA - Added 06/22/03 - [66.74.20***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 06/03 - Good Visit Overall, my family really enjoyed this establishment. It is a KID-FRIENDLY hotel. We have with two kids ages 12 and 13. ALL STAFF we encountered were very polite....even check-in where they're usually notorious for being rude...turned out to be pleasant and quick experience. We had connecting ROOMS with one being a handicapped room since I had taken my elderly father for a Father's Day celebration. Both rooms were nice, clean and the maid was very accomodating. We enjoyed the MOVIE THEATRE where we saw Finding Nemo and Bruce Almighty. The admission price and snack bar prices were very reasonable! The POOL area was OK...a step above a Motel 6 in features with no view. The VIDEO ARCADE was very small BUT had the NICEST people running it. My daughter threw a basketball while playing one of the games and her small diamond ring flew off. The staff there moved many machines and crawled in all the dusty nooks and crannies to locate it...AND amazingly they DID find it! They were so AWESOME. The BINGO HALL was not too swift so we only played one session. The crowd there looked like old local cronies who are not too hospitable to new-comers. The CASINO is a little OLD looking. The gambling was a bit tight. We never won BIG but we did have fun. Alcoholic beverages were plentiful. We never got to the BOWLING ALLEY but plan to next time. The Riverside's BUFFET is clean, bright and cheery with the food being about the same as a Hometown Buffet but with a view of the river. My niece and I decided to treat ourselves one night and have Prime Rib at their PRIME RIB ROOM. The service was not the greatest. The meat was tough and the small salad bar was too crowded. The view of the river at sunset compensated for the somewhat lacking dinner experience. The RIVERVIEW ROOM was a nice cafe with good food selection, good service and reasonably priced. I will come back and visit DON LAUGHLIN'S RIVERSIDE HOTEL again. It was a BIG hit with everyone in the family! <carolgreen -at- sbcglobal.net> - Folsom CA USA - Added 04/05/04 - [64.164.39.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 05/03 - Good Visit This was our second visit, the first being in March 2003. This time, we were "comped" the airfare and hotel room, as well as show tickets. Because we came in on Sun Country, we were also each awarded a dinner in the Prime Rib Room once we had accumulated 50 points on our cards. Our room was on the 19th floor, overlooking the river and the Bullhead City Airport - the location is great - at the Northern end of the "strip." Food was very good, service good, including beverages in the casinos. Gambling wasn't as good as it had been in March, but it's a chance you take each time you gamble. This visit, we headed out to the pool - would suggest the pool close to the North Tower - it is overlooking the river with lots of sunning/sitting space. We thought, after laying out for awhile, to go to the other pool, which has a hot tub/jacuzzi but it was swamped. This pool has no view, by the way. We went through the antique car show on the 3rd floor and it was excellent - beautiful cars, including John Wayne's War Wagon, built especially for him. All in all, the Riverside is a bargain you can't beat. The price is right, and although it isn't the Ritz or Bellagio, the beds are comfortable, rooms clean and certainly more than adequate for a 3 or 4 night stay. We will definitely continue to go there, comped or not! <lindakull -at- hotmail.com> - Parker CO USA - Added 05/13/03 - [66.89.137***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 05/03 - Good Visit Stayed Saturday night during Memorial weekend. Fast, friendly valet, quick check-in! They let us check in at 1pm-one hour earlier than normal. Friendly staff!, even 2 housekeepers wished us a pleasant stay on the way to our room. The room was clean with a great view of the river(stay in the south tower if you want the best views) but very generic in furnishings. There was a coffee maker in the room but no fridge so bring a small ice chest for drinks. No room service either but there is a pizza/deli type place on the strip that will deliver to your room. The place was packed due to the holiday...lots of families and kids. The pool was packed with kids swimming in their normal street clothes. We were in town to see Gallagher...Great show! Got $10 food comps each just for signing up with the slot club. The comp gets you to the front of the food line, no waiting, which saved us about 30 minutes each meal. The food in the Riverview Restaurant was very good and the staff were fast and friendly, even with the large crowds of people. We also ate at the New Orleans Room in the Colorado Belle, a gourmet place. The water taxis will take you elsewhere but at a price of $3 a person each way. The casino was tight. There are many 1 cent, 2 cent and 5 cent machines but this is misleading. The penny slots take 150 coins to play max. One 2 cent machine maxed at 200 coins each play. I won many small pots but never anything big. The biggest pot I won was $67. Out of a party of 8, only one of us came out a winner. Drink service was excellent and fast, never had to wait long for a drink! All in all a good stay. Just wish the casino was friendlier. <mrjeff39us -at- yahoo.com> - Riverside CA USA - Added 05/27/03 - [66.218.40.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 04/03 Quite a cavernous casino. I don't recall any of the decor because I could not see it through the smoky haze. I have a friend who smokes and even he could not handle it in the casino. This place should be demolished! I don't get it. All I can say is, if they were to add a nursing home and oxygen tank to each machine, they'd be made in the shade! I don't know why, maybe the older crowd just can't forget the olden days of dark rooms, bad food (hospital food!) and no ventilation system. This place should be bombed! We had dinner at the Prime Rib Room the service and food was wonderful. The prime rib melted in your mouth and the way it was served (cut and served at your table) is a great idea.We wish there would be more flights out of SLC, Ut. but, of course, we can understand why with the attitude that the LDS people have about gambling.(We are not LDS) The only negative comment that we would have would be that there was no room service..It is nice to have meals served in your room if you desire...Especially breakfast. We will certainly come again if the flight is offered from SLC in the future. Spent most of our gaming time away from Riverside. Room was clean and had a nice view of the river. Only tried the breakfast buffet and was not impressed. Prime Rib Room was excellent! We were disappointed in the pool. I guess we are used to the lavish pools Vegas hotels offer and pool side is where we enjoy spending a lot of time. The parking is NOT trailer (Boat/SeaDoo) friendly, so you have to walk a million miles in 115+ degrees to GET to the door to check in, once inside the employees at the registration area are rude and snippy. The room however WAS very nice, and clean, right on the river, a pet room, but NOT pet friendly! For an extra $100 deposit and $8 a night, you can have your pooch with you which is the ONLY redeeming quality, HOWEVER! There is NOWHERE TO WALK THE DOG within a 1/4 mile of the rooms!!!! Imagine having the dog wake you up, dancing around with his little legs crossed at 3am begging to go potty, and having to trek, bleary-eyed and half dressed, a good 1/4 mile hike to get to the pet area! Not a good thing! The restaurant was so-so, only because we had a comp. If we'd had to pay for it, then it would have sucked. They have mostly old machines in the casino, nothing really new and exciting. The only good feature was the new machines that give tickets (yuck) you can insert the ticket in the money slot in ANY machine like money instead of waiting in line at the cashier every time you cash out of a ticket machine. Hands DO stay cleaner with the tickets, I must say. So, really, it was a mixed experience, if we ever take the dog with us again, we might consider another try, but doubtful. There are a couple places in Bullhead that allow pets, will probably go there. <seadoosplash -at- aol.com> - Rialto CA USA - Added 06/13/02 - [24.53.33.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 06/02 - Good Visit We took the flight from Portland, Ore. to Riverside Resort & stayed for five days and it was a super trip. I was there for New Years and Why did I go back.. :-( I thought that my first visit was one of those "It'll never happen again" visits. The 24/7 valet was a 1 man department that happened to be on break when I arrived. His "Be Back in 5 minutes" Sign should of read Be back in 44 Minutes. Nobody in could get ahold of him. When he finally arrived he gave me an attitude like if I was asking him for a favor. I checked in and got my room. When I walked in my room I thought for a split second that I was in a jail cell.. The room was BAD! It was a NON smoking room that smelled like if I had just walked in a room full of people smoking. The furniture was older than furniture that I have seen in thrift shops. The bathroom was dirty aswell. The tile had mold, the mirrors had more streaks than Casino Drive. I aksed for another room. That was the BIGGEST mistake I had made the other room was worse. They had no other rooms available. I ended up getting the room for FREE :-) The buffet sucks.. I would of been better of buying sliced bread and cheese.. Need I say more?... That was my experience in Dec.. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and went back.. :-( My worst descision ever!!! To make this short.. I got 4 dif rooms and ALL of them were DIRTY! He came to this dry, hot, desert outpost and made an empire. The whole town is there because of his insight and determination to build his hotel and casino. We have stayed at all the hotels in Laughlin, and can recommend the Riverside. Harrah's is a step above the rest, while the Riverside is right in the middle for hotel quality and enjoyment. We had an interesting (favorable) experience at check-out. I requested a room with a balcony, and after a night of gambling in the Riverside casino we went to bed about 1:00 am. To our surprise the rooms with a balcony are next the elevators, and the whole room shakes when the elevators are in use. I got no sleep because of the noise. The next morning on check-out I mentioned this noise to the clerk, she asked one of the mangers over to hear our experience, the manager appologized and comped us the room. I was very surprised and said I would pay, but he insisted that the room be comped. This was outstanding customer service. The hotel wants its guest to have a pleasant experience. The food in the buffet was only average, and the rules on blackjack favor the casino. The rooms are clean and the hotel has a movie theater. We tried the Riverside Buffet and the food was very poor, rolls stale. Fruit okay. The only thing I liked about the hotel was the bowling center and it was handy having movie theaters there. If I ever return to Laughlin (which is doubtful), I would stay at another hotel. The Riverside was just too dirty for my taste. <janras -at- cox.net> - Tempe AZ USA - Added 06/16/03 - [68.2.128.***] Report This Comment You must judge the truthfulness of any comment and accept responsibility for your use of this information.
