The hotel/casino is located almost on the corner of Fremont Street and Charleston Blvd which places it some distance from the center of the strip on Las Vegas Blvd. In all fairness to the management and staff, the franchise has been purchased by Holiday Inn Express and will become that entity sometime this summer. Therefore, readers should use caution when using any comments/ratings to base their decision to stay or not to stay here. I would suggest waiting for the change to the Holiday Inn before booking accomodations. My wife and I stayed for a 3-night, 4-day comp, so any negatives can be offset by the freebie. The room was clean, but somewhat seedy with several cigarette burns on the carpet and chair. The room was cleaned and vacuumed every day. The food at the Pelican Rock was pretty good and resonably priced. The casino is small compared to the larger hotels, but the slots were somewhat looser than others we tried.

Complete Dump Hole! Room Was Dirty, Toilet wasnt Flushed (Some one Took a Crap in it and didnt flush it ewww). Food SUCKED COLD Eggs werent hardly cooked.
Service sucked as well took us 25 min to get waited on. DONT VISIT NEVER GO THERE!!!

Some friends and I visited Castaways over the summer and we were disgusted. Our room a mess. There were beer bottle caps and gum on the ceiling. We found an unused condom in the bed side table. Th toilet seat looked like it had dry urine on it. Two of us went to eat in the cafe, and we waited 45 minutes for food at 3 am. On Sunday, we found that the only place to eat was the bowling alley or the buffet. I will never stay there again and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

We were quite surprised that there was no where to get something to eat 24/7. The rooms are okay but there were a few misfunctions about it. Exhaust fan didn't work, tub didn't drain properly and it was harder than heck to get any extra shampoo. The front desk didn't seem to be knowledgeable as to what was put into the rooms. I asked certain questions and 3 of the 8 were not in the room. That ended up being ok because I was quite prepared. It was very unpleasant to have to go to the Dennys' up the street for our meal. The one manager, John L., was very accommodating though. Very friendly, precise and quick to find solutions to our problems. The pool was nice and quiet--enjoyed that immensely. They do need to update their signs throughout the hotel/casino pertaining to the construction/remodeling of the cafe and to post proper hours etc. We heard many different answers from as many employees, that is why we went to the top and then things were ironed out. I guess with improvements everything takes time, and we will continue to stay there. It will once again be a very nice place once everything is settled back to a routine and all the remodeling is done. Check it out--give it a chance. The rates are good, too.

not much going on. casino staff not very friendly. comp system not good. bingo room excellent.
