My mother, my daughter and I stayed at the Virgin River Hotel Casino TWICE in the month of July 2003.
Our stays were great. The hotel is not really hotel at all. Instead, it is more of motel type. However, both times our room was very nice and surprising clean. Pets were welcome, so make sure you declare your pets. My daughter loved the TV lineup because she watched the Cartoon Network. We also watched TV shows from both Las Vegas and Salt Lake City areas. Golden Nuggets in Las Vegas downtown did not provide that great TV lineup, not even Cartoon Network. The beds were nice. Great air conditioning. Shower room could be better but I am not complaining about it because some hotels in LV use 25 watt light bulbs in very small shower rooms. Two outdoor swimming pools with lifeguards, but we didn't swim there. The swimming pools seemed to be very modern and clean. Restaurant and buffet were very good, but the service provided by the staff were world class - they were the best. I was disappointed that Pepsi was not served there. Casino was small but my mom had great times winning money playing nickle slot machines. She actually won the Virgin River Hotel Casino T-shirt that said "Follow the Winner". The bowling alley was very nice and clean. My daughter and I had fun bowling there. The staff at the bowling alley, including the snack bar, was wonderful. Security personnel was nice and professional. They don't act like they are "gung-ho" about anything. The 24 hour gift shop was small and the merchandise there was a little pricey, but the ladies at the gift shop were very nice. The only thing we didn't try were a movie theater and bingo. The overall value to stay at the Virgin River Hotel Casino was the best. Make sure you call them to find the costs because they have both off and on peak values.
The hotel is very easily accessible because it is next to a major highway. MCDonald's and some restaurants are nearby. A convenience store with gas pumps is across the street from the hotel. Nice location.
The only downsides at the Virgin River Hotel Casino were: the ice machines were placed outside the hotel, and the staff at the arcade.
The weather was too hot for the ice machines to hold ice. All we got was water, no ice. It would be a good idea for ice machines to be placed inside such as a hotel lounge room so the ice wouldn't melt.
My 9 year old daughter put a quarter in an arcade machine that said "25 cents". She asked the arcade to clarify the game cost and was discovered that the game was worth 1 dollar. Based on that information, she asked for a refund. The staff refused. It was not nice to steal a coin from a little girl. All the arcade machines and games should have correct cost information and the arcade staff should have refund the money if the cost information was incorrect.
Overall, our stays were great. We will come back again for sure, this time with my dad and some of my friends. Of course, we will bowl there again and we will bring our swimsuits to swim there. However, we will avoid the arcade room if they still have a no refund policy. Oh yeah, make sure you bring your cell phones - some of the pay phones there (not owned by Virgin River Hotel Casinos)were not working properly.
Trust me, Virgin River Casino Hotel is a nice little hotel casino.

I found this hotel because of the aaa travel book .even though the prices were reasonable.the rooms were very noisy. try listening to a "maids " cart clomping across a wooden walkway at 6:00 In the morning.needless to say I asked for a refund which I finally got after a long discussion.remember you get what you pay for.

This place will take pets but is in desperate need of paint and other repairs.
There are lots of people taking advantage of the inexpensive rooms and deals on meals but the casino is gummy and disappointing.
The rooms are spartan with very well used furniture, carpets and sporadic cooling systems. The Eureka, Oasis and Casa Blanca will cost you more money but you'll be happy that you spent it.
