Date Visited: 08/03 We didn't stay at the hotel but visited the casino several times during our stay. The VP machines were among the most generous in payout schedules and we had a lot of play for a minimal investment. Also hit a Royal Flush on a quarter machine early in our visit. I will agree with other comments that service in the slots area is poor. Had to wait for a long time for drinks. I also personally like the location of being off the strip. We rented a car and were easily able to get in and out of the casino with ease. Will definitely visit this casino again on our next visit. <mzimny11 -at- comcast.net> - Park Ridge IL USA - Added 08/20/03 - [162.115.100.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 05/03 - Bad Visit 5/26 #11107 I didn't enjoy staying this hotel. The Lobby is almost non-exsit at this hotel. It is right in front of Slot Machine with loud music. The receptionist wasn't friendly, or rather have snobby attitude. The cheap buffet had not even average taste. The room itself is just a regular. Nothing special. This is a place for hard play night our crowds. I will never stay there. <marinecruiser -at- aol.com> - Boston MA USA - Added 05/30/03 - [129.44.178.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 03/03 - Bad Visit I went here with my parents and some family. All 6 of us didn't hit diddly squat. No one around us were hitting anything good. None of us hit a 4-kind on video poker machines. I lost around $140 in about 40 minutes. We left very pissed off and vowed never to come back. However, the casino was very clean and easy to get around. First visit to vegas, and between 5 of us, 3 stayed here, and 2 across the street at the Gold Coast. There is no comparison. The Palms is fabulous!! The beds are comfortable and the down comforters are so soft and comfortable we were actually sad to leave them. The maid service was not great, because the beds were never properly made. Its like they just shake out your comforter and lay it on your bed, because when you get in, your sheets are all rumpled and not tucked in. That was the only negative thing about our whole visit. The view from the room is spectacular! Even being on the 22nd floor, the elevator is superfast and takes only a few seconds to drop you on your floor. The bathroom is beautiful and you get neutrogena products, instead of generic hotel stuff. The mini bar is fully stocked, and every morning they restock it for you! we raided it a few times, but beware! we drank mostly the little bottles of skyy Vodka, only to find out upon departing that they ran us $7 each! oh well, it was worth it! Friday and saturday nights the club Rain and Ghostbar were really happening, because there were people waiting in lines for 2+ hours to get in! this created lines through the casino, and made it slightly difficult to access the elevator to our rooms, but it was interesting to see all the people. The casino was awesome! I played mostly roulette and "super fun blackjack". It was super fun. I was up $100 one day, then down the next, and so on. We were there for 5 days, and I only brought $150 to gamble with. This money lasted me through my whole stay, and although I eventually lost it on my last day, I got hours of entertainment out of it, and plenty of free drinks. I figured that were I at the bar, I would have spent way more than that in drinks alone. My mom drove up from California on saturday, and left on Sunday. She brought $100 to gamble with, and upon being there for just a few hours, she had already made $700 on the slots. I was amazed. While we were there, we saw Mario Lopez (Saved by the bell & The Other Side) who is a total hottie, and also the young guy from CSI (you know, the young and cute one, I dont remember his name). Lots of good looking men, although there were more good looking women. I heard that Drew Barrymore was there during our stay, although none of us saw her. Free drinks from cute little cocktail waitresses, but if you are playing slots you may have to wait a little longer than at a table. Great atmosphere in here and very trendy looking. We never ate here, except for in the food court by the movie theatres, where you find McDonalds, a pizza place, a sub place, and a chinese place. The movie theatres have stadium seating and the seats recline a lot! I will try to stay here whenever possible. Free shuttle to the Fashion Show mall, the Aladdin resort, and Ceasers Palace. You cant go wrong! For a 5 night 6 day stay and raiding the mini bar every day, plus a limo ride to and from the airport (in their standard lime green caddilac limo!)it would have only run us about $800, which is well worth it. We were comped for everything as we had VIP status and gambled a lot between all of us, but I would have paid the 800 in a heartbeat to stay at this resort. The real world was filmed here last year, and in the gift shop you can buy the book and everything from them. This resort is definitely aimed at the younger crowd, but there were lots of older people in there enjoying themselves just as much as we were (we were all between 21 and 29 years) Great place overall. A++++ Wonderful service! <tammytfc -at- yahoo.com> - Port St. Lucie FL USA - Added 01/15/03 - [65.194.99***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 01/03 - Good Visit Did not stay here, but played lots of VP. Service was very good - room service and housekeeping were extremely fast. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Rain is the coolest club in town We would definitely stay at the Palms again <josemarg2000 -at- yahoo.com> - USA - Added 04/23/03 - [65.116.201.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 11/02 - Good Visit We've gambled at the Palms since it first opened but this was the first time stayed there. The rooms were very nice and my wife fell in love with the down comforter (made me buy the exact same brand when we got home). I could also hook up my son's X-Box to the TV with no problem. The room service was the best! It was reasonably price, very fast and delicious. We have a 5 year-old who loves to play at the childcare center located on the premises. The movie theaters are first class and my wife loves the cheese dogs they offer. The atmosphere at the Palms is what attracts us the most. The play Top 40 music in the casino and the blackjack dealers are the friendliest we've ever encountered (we go to Vegas almost every other weekend, so they're starting to remember who we are). They have the best table comp system around and the casino hosts and pit bosses are easy to get along with. We like both the cafe and the buffett as they have excellent food. One weekend we'll have to try Rain, the club, as both my wife and I love to dance and party. My wife also loved the spa and body wrap she received. I can't find a bad thing to say about the Palms. In fact, when we were looking for a $5 blackjack table and couldn't find any, I simply asked the pit boss if he could change the table limit from $10 to $5. He said "for you, no problem" and instructed the dealer that my wife and I could play with a $5 limit. I thought maybe this was a fluke, but I asked again a couple of days later with a different pit boss, who gave the same response. Now I don't consider myself a "high-roller", just a regular guy who averages between $15-$25 per hand, so I was very impressed at how accomadating the pit bosses were (and these were not slow nights). <myrewardsclub -at- yahoo.com> - Palmdale CA USA - Added 12/19/02 - [209.221.205***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 10/02 We did not stay here, but made a visit to the casino on our last day. If we had found it sooner we would have come back a second time. I found the casino one of the easier ones to navaigate in. I love the hardwood floors around the outside of the casino. It was a unique hip crowd, but all were very nice including the change people. The losest slots we found in our 5 day stay. Would not mind staying here due to the free shuttles across the street. Just a nice classy friendly place. <J2CATS -at- aol.com> - Menasha WI USA - Added 11/10/02 - [205.188.208.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 08/02 - Undecided Didn't stay here, but we did spend some time in the Casino. This was out second visit to the Palms. Everything they say about the pay-outs is right on. The video poker machines are going to have the best pay-outs around. Just look for the right ones. The casino employees will gladly point them out to you if you ask. $20 and 2 hours later, I'm up over $500. Not bad! The Palms helped us to go home with more money than we brought. So now we have the money for our next trip. Young, hip crowd. <ctvrdik -at- hotmail.com> - Aurora OH USA - Added 09/20/02 - [65.238.96.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 07/02 - Good Visit We have been visiting the Palms since it opened, but have not yet stayed here. My rating is on the casino itself, which we really enjoy because it pretty easy to navigate through. Hubby won consistantly on wheel of fortune, small amts $100, $75, $100, etc...it adds up! I would not be opposed to staying here, would like to give it a try. <sigaz -at- yahoo.com> - USA - Added 09/10/02 - [68.3.8***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 06/02 - Good Visit Although we didn't stay at the Palms, my wife wfe and I played in their casino a few times and ate at the buffet. Their casino is easy to navigate with a good selection of fairly loose machines. The cocktail service was excellent and the waitresses were easy on the eyes to boot. The buffet was decent and fair for the price. The decor is unique and comfortable and EASY on the eyes. Nothing garish in the entire place. The rooms are the most comfortable around with down comforters on the beds, nutragena products in the marvelous bathrooms and great furniture. Gardunos restaurant is gourmet mexican and Little Buddha's has the best sushi outside of L.A.'s Little Tokyo - it is FRESH. There is a great locals area with cheap eats and a movie theater. The ghost bar on the 55th floor will blow your mind - it is what every club n vegas dreams about being. The Pool area is like being in a rap video - even if you are chisled you might wind up feeling inadequae or insecure among this bevy of babes. The spa is small but has all the features you need. It is the best, there is no second place. You will see celebritiies, hotties and gambling-addled locals all side by side. If central casting needed a Las Vegas casino circa 2002, this is it. <pdashow -at- hotmail.com> - Los Angeles CA USA - Added 12/23/02 - [69.3.58***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 05/02 - Good Visit If you like great video poker and good blackjack, you won't be disappointed. Friday and Saturday nights are very busy with pretty people. Other times it isn't nearly as crowded. Still some bugs to be worked out. Definitely a different feel than the huge strip casinos. Some good things and some bad. Well, the room comes with a mini-bar that is completely stocked and you cannot remove any items without being charged. When I expressed dissapointment in having no fridge, they promptly brought one to the room at no charge. By the way, we were unable to access the minibar the entire stay, the only time I saw the contents was when maintenance came to open it and that's when I found out it was totally packed. The room was o.k., bed was very comfy. Housekeeping, however, was very poor. The room was not cleaned several times before 3:30 or 4:00 and then it was done half-assed: dirty glasses left behind and no clean ones left, no trash emptied and no kleenex even though the box was empty. The casino is small and easy to manuever, but selection of slots was only so-so. The pool area was not quite finished and only one section was open, but that was fine, as there was hardly anyone there. Apparently the grand opening for the pool was the evening of the day we left and so some days the pool was closed early. From what I could determine there will be skinny dipping in the pool on Tuesday nights after 9:00. This is not something I would be interested in, but I'm sure there plenty who would be. We did not check out the ghost bar even though it looked cool. The cover charge is $10.00 and I didn't feel it was worth it. We are early risers, not really late night folks on vacation. I say give it a try if you like a younger crowd--I guess that is what they are going for, but believe me, there really weren't that many young people there. <vmcap -at- msn.com> - Richmond Hts OH USA - Added 05/22/02 - [24.50.193.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 05/02 - Good Visit The Palms is great! It seems to be the new place to go. Has taken business from Hard Rock. The Casino is nice. The Pool is awesome. Its a party at the pool all day. They have Go-Go girls dancing all day at the pool along with mermaids! Gina is the person in charge of the pool and she treats everyone well. She is the perfect hostess. All the best looking people seem to go to the Palms, saw lots of celebrities too. Restaurants are great. The clubs are out of control, rockin and PACKED! I can not wait to go back. DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS YOU ARE LOOKING TO HAVE FUN AT ALL TIMES, AND DO NOT GO TO RELAX. Do not bring your kids either and do not go if you do not like young people. <bgarv7 -at- aol.com> - USA - Added 06/24/02 - [64.12.103.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 03/02 - Undecided I can't believe the guests have to pay to get into the rain or ghost bar -- absolutely ridiculous. Okay, the front desk was polite, but as far as the staff (particularly the bars and clubs) goes -- totally unprofessional, snotty, and down right rude. The bar staff thinks they run the best bar in the world!!! Not only did I have to pay as a guest, the stupid cashier chick and lame bouncer let about 20 non-guests in front of me in line as I was asking a question -- totally b.s. PS: dont bother paying the slots, the highest I hit in (2 hours) was 120 nickels geez -- what an overall waste. But I admit, the beds are good and if you like to hang around an average look of 8+ (looks only, no personality) for women mainly, then its the place to be drunk at!!! <aarons345 -at- hotmail.com> - Tustin CA USA - Added 04/03/03 - [64.147.2***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 02/02 - Undecided Didn't stay, but did visit. The hotel employees from the casino host to the bellmen went out of their way to make sure our stay was confortable. The bed was beyond compare. It is off the strip but they have a shuttle to the forum so you miss nothing. A first for this Vegas constant visitor was when after bring our luggage up the bellman asked if he could fill our ice bucket up. NO ONE NOT EVEN THE VENETIAN OR BELLAGIO has ever treated us this well. The view from our floor to ceiling window was beautiful. I slso did rather well at their casino. This is a hotel for adults of all ages who enjoy receiving total respect and confort at a very decent rate. <tcbelvis -at- bellatlantic.net> - Abingdon MD USA - Added 02/02/02 - [141.157.94***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 01/02 - Bad Visit Although we weren't staying at this casino, we visited to gamble as we saw it was new and wanted to give it a try. First off, the casino is very cold; hardwood floors and not that many people (even in the middle of the day on a saturday). Most of their machines are video poker with a few video slots (most of which were 15-20 lines!!!). We gambled some ($80+) but didn't even hit small payouts (4+ credits). We were never greeted when we entered alhtough there were casino employees right there (at the taxi stand or inside the casino). The brunch buffet was pathetic (I get better food at McDonald's). We saw maybe 10 tables but only one had a game going and it didn't look like anyone was winning there either. Prior to our trip, I did a fair amount of investigation for loose slots. Who doesn't like loose slots. The Palms was rated as having the loosest nickel slots in town. This was not our experience. Many of the games in the Palms were the new multi-denominational IGT machines. These accept pennies, 2 cent, 5 cent, etc. This is a good thing because it allows you to make smaller bets. On the other hand, the machines rarely seem to pay off. Perhaps the machines are looser here, but that certainly was not our experience. Between me and my aunt, we dumped several hundred dollars in no time. We made the mistake of going on a Saturday night. There were lots of colorful young people waiting to get into the trendy bar. In fact, the casino was relatively empty, but the line up for the night club was huge. It turns out MTV broadcasts a show from this location. This kind of attention also attracts some undesireable people. My aunt is 61 years old, and felt very uncomfortable. She felt like the oldest person in the whole casino. Admittedly, this appears to be a stop for the younger generation. Secondly, on her trip to the washroom, there was a couple getting "down and dirty" outside the washroom on the casino floor. Don't ask me how security was not seeing this. Additionally, there was apparently a girl with underwear around her ankles, puking in the toilet yelling for help. It appears there was only one washroom for a relatively large number of people (from the nightclub, the casino, etc). I thought the place was like any other, but unfortunately not worth a slop for cheap slots. If you are more "mature", you will likely not want to consider this stop. Sounds like the beds are comfortable, but that will only last as long as the place is new. <kitchenerguy -at- rogers.com> - Kitchener ON Canada - Added 05/17/03 - [24.112.68.***] Report This Comment You must judge the truthfulness of any comment and accept responsibility for your use of this information.
