Date Visited: 09/03 - Good Visit I stayed at the Tuscany the weekend of Sept. 5-7, 2003. I found my room there on short notice earlier that week through a discount hotel website, and got a really excellent nightly rate. When I arrived on Friday night, there was no line at the check-in desk, and the hotel had all my reservation information right at hand, so check-in was a breeze. The room was very large, at least 500-600 sq.ft., with one king bed, a sofa, chair, and coffe table. The large TV was on a separate stand that made it easy to see from either the bed or the living area. There was also a small kitchenette, with a 2-burner stove, microwave, sink, and a small refrigerator, and also a small breakfast table, with two chairs. The bathroom was also unusually large, with a separate tub and shower, a separate small room for the toilet, and one sink. There were plenty of clean towels, and the entire room itself was very clean. While I was out on Saturday, the maid service came in and cleaned the room, made the bed, cleaned the bathroom, and left more fresh towels just like you would expect from any good hotel. I am not sure exactly what happened from the time of the visits of those people below who talk about all the problems they had, but obviously management must have made some huge changes by the time I arrived in September. One thing that may have made a difference is the hotel has now joined the Best Western chain, and I'm sure they have inspectors who would have dealt with problems such as those mentioned below. My stay was perfectly fine, with no problems at all. The only two items I would note are (1) the room a/c was a little noisy, but this is common at all hotels that use individual wall units rather than a central a/c, and (2) there really weren't enough parking spaces in the interior parking lot closest to my room, so the second night I had to park in the lot for another building, a little further from the room than I normally expect to be. But neither of these items was enough to bother me. I've stayed on the Strip at hotels that charged a heck of a lot more for a lot less. If you are contemplating staying off-Strip, the Tuscany is definitely worth considering. <calvin_slater -at- agfg.com> - Houston TX USA - Added 09/23/03 - [161.159.4***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 09/03 - Good Visit We really loved Tuscany during our late September stay. We were given a room with a balcony overlooking the pool. Very spacious. Found our whole experiencing there to be very relaxing. Restaurants were good. Housekeeping a bit slow. Wish the casino had more of the current table games offered at other locations but video poker was great! <AC2VEGAS2 -at- AOL.COM> - North Arlington NJ USA - Added 10/19/03 - [205.188.209***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 08/03 - Bad Visit I have never seen such a filthy room. It was beyond disgusting! There was beer spilled on the carpet, mold growing in the shower, hair in the bathroom, and the room smelled horrid. In addition, the hallway was falling apart with gum stuck in the carpet and cigarette butts everywhere. This place is in desperate need of maintenance and a good thorough cleaning! STAY AWAY! <beckysue81 -at- yahoo.com> - USA - Added 08/05/03 - [67.2.91.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 08/03 - Bad Visit We had to ask for fresh towels on three occasions. On the fourth day after waiting 5 hours for toilet paper and towels we simply checked out. Simply the worst experience at a hotel I have ever had. <sabata -at- shaw.ca> - Winnipeg MB Canada - Added 08/13/03 - [24.66.94.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 08/03 - Good Visit During the summer, I was in a pinch to find a room and I found a very reasonable rate @ Tuscany. The rooms are huge, huge, huge!!! It's off the strip, but not that far. I haven't tried the restaurant, nor did I gamble during my stay. If I was in a pinch again, I'd definitely stay @ Tuscany if the price is right? <nynotes -at- yahoo.com> - San Francisco CA USA - Added 12/01/03 - [216.175.103.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 07/03 - Undecided The room/mini suite was nice enough, no complaints. Marilyn's Cafe located in the casino had good food & good servers, although the cashiers could use some training in customer service. My one MAJOR COMPLAINT...no towels!! We had 1 towel for 3 people for the 1st 2 dys...I called "Housekeeping" several times & was told they would deliver towels w/in 10-15 minutes, but they never showed. I finally got a few towels from the maid's cart, they didn't even have clean towels with them. I finally got some wash cloths on the 3rd day. I guess their maids do not understand that their "tip" is based on service...its the 1st time I haven't left a tip for my maid service. Also, the response of the front desk is lacking..either they don't answer the phone or only after numerous rings. The grounds were well kept & appropriate, but the walkways seem to take you by trash bins at several spots. The hotel was very quiet, no children running up & down the halls, no loud music or talk. We felt secure. This property is 2 "city blocks" from the Strip...if u r not used to walking, u may want to skip this hotel...but if u don't mind a jaunt, it's fine...u arrive at about center of the Strip (between Bally's & Barbary Coast). No shuttle svc to Strip or Downtown from Tuscany. Have mixed feelings about this property...it was clean, quiet, nice room, reasonable food prices in Marilyn's Cafe (did not eat in Palazzo), nice waiters(especially Enrique), theme appropriate....versus...no towels, long walk to Strip, no shuttles, slow response from front desk... Would stay here again if they absolutely guaranteed towels (or I take my own) and if I had access to automobile. One more thing...if u stay here...beware of "limo driver" offering to provide transportation to downtown...he quoted $25/one way & it wasn't a real limo, just a sedan. There are buses from the Strip for $2.00/ea one-way. A local taxi driver said that $25 was a rip-off...our taxi from the airport to the Tuscany was approx $12/each way. <jeanine -at- strato.net> - Avon Park FL USA - Added 08/04/03 - [64.45.197.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 07/03 I'm from Ireland. EVEN IF THEY GAVE IT TO ME FREE!! <lvcrew -at- aol.com> - New York NY USA - Added 08/01/03 - [24.234.49.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 10/02 - Bad Visit Busy check-in on Friday night and only one person at front desk. Room was not completely clean. Carpet was in need of cleaning and vacuuming. Couldn't get through to room service to order. Every call to front desk was put on hold. Buffet breakfast was awful. Bad food, poor selection, and service was nonexistent. Didn't even try restaurant for lunch or dinner since they were not able to even do a decent breakfast. Second day, maid service didn't show up until 6:30pm. Carpet was still dirty after they were done. Third day, no maid service at all. Had to call front desk and have security bring fresh towels and coffee for the next morning. Very disappointing stay. The lack of service was inexcussable for a very busy weekend. <teryflwr4u -at- aol.com> - Los Angeles CA USA - Added 10/22/02 - [198.81.26.***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 09/02 - Good Visit Room was spacious with kitchentte incl. stove, refrig, coffee maker & 4 chair kitchen set. Called maintenance to report bathroom sink not draining properly. Mechanic appeared within 7 minutes & repaired in 2 minutes. Walk to strip, 1 mile, is OK in day light, not recommended in night time. $5 cab ride from Bally's. House cleaning made beds while we were having breakfast in hotel restaurant. Construction still going on, however building we stayed in, one of many, did not have any disruptions. <ajlsr -at- msn.com> - North Branford CT USA - Added 09/17/02 - [64.158.63***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 05/02 - Undecided "Hotel" is not the best way to explain this property. It is more of an apartment complex converted into a hotel. The rooms are more like studio apartments trying to be hotel rooms. Rooms are large, furnishings low end, finish of rooms and hallways are poor. An OK place to sleep if you need a room, but does not live up to the promise of the website. Exterior and grounds very pretty, front desk staff very friendly and efficient. I did not use the restaurant.Ok for a bsuiness trip, but not a destination resort. <lander.mike -at- slss.net> - Wendover NV USA - Added 07/15/02 - [12.36.13***] Report This Comment Date Visited: 00/00 I did not stay at the Tuscany, but visited it because a friend of mine stayed there and really liked it. The hotel was much smaller than anything on the strip but was very nice and clean. The staff was very friendly and the dealers were very personable. This hotel is on Flamingo Blvd, so you can take a quick taxi to the strip, so the location is not that bad unless you prefer to be able to walk to everything from your hotel. The hotel is nicely detailed and intimate. It is far from my favorite hotel, but it is a nice change from the enormity of the billion dollar megaresorts of the strip. Nice little place. <alma -at- irtc.net> - USA - Added 07/03/02 - [65.113.254.***] Report This Comment You must judge the truthfulness of any comment and accept responsibility for your use of this information.
