Stayed here in the first week of July2008, Just a note We stayed here when this place first opened bake then very nice. But now a dump rooms are the pits. This furniture is the same as opening day and all wore out. Casino dead and very few people. Food nothing to write home about. So for me never and I mean NEVER again.

We booked our rooms 5 weeks in advance, for the SCORE event, 3 nights stay. We were assured when booking the reservation we would have adjoining rooms, for our 2 teenage daughters. Being of utmost importance, this was reiterated twice during the conversation.
Upon our arrival, we were informed, not only could we not have adjoining rooms, but there were not 2 rooms available side by side. The night manager, Steve, seemed irritated in trying to accomodate our requests when questioned as to why this was so difficult to resolove? I believe this would be within his job description, and if he were so put off by performing this task, why be in that capacity?
We went to our rooms, only to find the adjoining room was occupied by no less than 6 obscene and obnoxiously loud Banshees!
Back to the Front desk! Steve then placed us on the 3rd floor, some 25+ rooms apart. He informed us that these were the only rooms available.
Funny, I would think that since we were there on Thurs night, unless the room numbers are assigned, those arriving on Fri & Sat would be left to take what was available.
Saturday evening, while my sister in law was sitting in front of a 5 cent Video Poker, my niece sat next to her for a moment. When approached by the waitress, my niece told her honestly, she was not yet 21 for another few weeks, and had just stopped to check on her mother. The waitress disappeared momentarily, returning with security. Mario, began to get loud, and rude. Knowing there is security cameras everywhere did not seem to detour him from lying and his unexceptable behavior. While questioning my sister in law, all of 90 lbs., he stated "Your friend has been asked to leave 3 times". A complete lie!!! He must have felt intimidated by this tiny woman to the point of requesting backup, which is when 2 additional security guards approached. Mario's attitude and behavior was completely unwarranted!!!
The beds were so uncomfortable, the tub looked inviting! The tub would have made a better bed, as the water pressure was indicative of who was using adjoining plumbing while showering. The parking was wonderful! Lots of availability, not to be confused with accessibilty!! We could have walked to the event in the same distance walked to the parking.
This was by far the worst accomodations within the city limits! Next time, camp out in the sticks if you have too!!! This place sucks!!!

We stayed at the RP, or Rest in Peace, July 20-21. The first room that we had on the 19th floor had a toilet that would not flush at all. I called the front desk supervisor and asked to be moved and she was very beligerant but finally agreed to move us from Room 1920 to Room 1917. This hotel is a security nightmare because when we walked in to Room 1917 the adjoining door to Room 1918 was wide open. There were two adjoining room doors on either side of Room 1917 that we promptly secured. Tbe furniture was worn and threadbare and the bed was old and uncomfortable. Skip the all you can eat pasta for $7.99 at Pasta Cucina; it used to be good but the pasta was served to us with very little sauce--just pasta and not enough sauce. The salad bar there wasn't very good, either. The pool area was dirty and overrun by people using the pool who were not hotel guests; in fact, we saw fathers dropping off mothers & children and huge ice chests for their day at the River Palms pool. The aces high $1.22 breakfast promotion in the River Palms buffet was good and the service was adequate in there. The Bingo Hall personnel were great and the Comedy Workshop show was excellent. Again, this hotel is a mixed bag, a really mixed bag of tricks and oops, I almost forgot--the front desk clerks at the hotel were wearing plain white shirts that were dirty and in need of ironing--not too good on image.

My husband and I visit the River Palms at least 4 times a year. I like to gamble, but by no means do I spend a ton of money. The most I bring is $200. Anyway, I always use my card and every month, I am offered a free room and some money to play with. The casino is huge with all of the new games that give good action. I really like playing video poker at the huge bar downstairs. Always seem to get a lot of four of a kinds and the beverage service is awesome!

I think the rooms are fine. They aren't fancy, but are clean and do the job. If you are a player there and have a card, they always do what they can to make it free for you.

The only complaint I have about the RP is that the food isn't very good. We always get a buy one get one free buffet. The food blows, but we always seem to check it out because we don't like to go anywhere else. If they got better food, we probably wouldn't go to many of the other casinos.

Welcome To Hillbilly!

I have never seen such a messed up staff in 25 years of frequenting casinos. I later found out from a local that the property had recently changed hands and the new owners are having a huge problem keeping good help. Most of the staff are untrained and, I would guess, inexperienced in customer service and/or casino etiquette.

I rolled in about 9:30am. I went to the Player's Club to get my card. It took at least 10 minutes for the trainee to work the computer. She finally had to ask for help from a 20 something gentleman colleague. I finally got my card and she asked my birth date. She wanted to be sure I was old enough to gamble(white trash humor, I suppose). Funny, she thought her incompetence was cute or something, all the while making gestures and smirking faces. Truly goofy. And truly unprofessional behavior.

Anyway, I get my card and go downstairs. I sit at the VP bar and hit 4 of a kind on a $1.00 machine, $200. I go back upstairs and sit at another VP machine, $100 4 of a kind on quarters. I walk to the check-in desk. "No, your room isn't ready. We can't let you check in early". No problem, never hurts to ask. I sit at the VP bar next to the check-in counter. I hit 4 Aces on my 3rd deal...$300. The lady bartender didn't believe me. I said "come here and look!" Finally she walks over, looks, and makes the call. It takes the hand pay chick 5-10 minutes to walk over. She checks the machine states she will be right back. She leaves....and I wait, and wait, wait...and wait. Finally after about 20-25 minutes she returns with my money. She pays me and I walk away quickly without tipping anyone(which is unusual in itself, I Always tip when I win). No one, and I mean NO ONE, congratulated me. Very rude. Not even my fellow players. Something about this River Palms place was just off right from the beginning(except the gambling which was right on, Cool!!). The help, the players, very strange. Drink service was fast, friendly and efficient in the morning and early afternoon. In the evening? Forget about it. One waitress was working the whole top floor by herself, doing her best but it was over an hour between sitting down and her coming by. Very understaffed in key positions. If you need a job in Laughlin, apply here....lol

The room was basic Laughlin. Even the way the room was laid out was off somehow, but it did the job. Unbelievable. Even on the 23rd floor, I could hear all the noise down at ground level; people yelling, girls screaming, basic loud partying. Also, the wind howls on the higher floors quite loudly too, just so you know.

I heard the food is bad here. They even charge the full adult price for kids at the buffet, $12. And wasn't very good, I was told. I didn't try it.

I went to the gift shop at one point. I had to wait for 5 minutes or so while an older cashier told a story to her 2 younger colleagues abot how her husband got stranded in a recent flash flood. Very interesting story(not really). Hey, $6 for a pack of smokes and you get to hear a story, not bad : ). (ugh!)

Berri Lee-Comic AND Magician. What can I say about this guy! True cheese and crackers entertainment, Laughlin style. Rope Trick. The first pair of scissors break. The 2nd pair will barely cut the rope, would have a tough time with paper too, I imagine. Hey Berri, buy some Fiskars will ya. And get a decent suit. He wears 2 very expensive diamond rings...and a crap suit. And the whole time he's putting down his own act and the fact he's stuck in such a shitty gig.

Anyway, the room rates are low, which isn't neccessarily a good thing. Either I've gotten classier or Laughlin has just plain gone downhill. I don't know, I'm not sure. But the casino was kick a$$ fun!! Lots of juicy, paying machines. I had a lot of fun winning, about $1000 gross and $500-$600 net, which is Great for Laughlin.

Bottom line: I won't be back. I doubt I'll return anytime soon to Laughlin but if I do, I won't be staying here. I'm going to save my money and stay at the Four Seasons Vegas on my next gambling trip. Let the hillbillies have this place, and the rest of Laughlin too.

(p.s. I was here with a very large group of 7 families, about 30 people all together of all ages. The concensus was similar to what I've posted. No one would stay here again or recommend it to others. Most comments and opinions leaned toward the negative).

Update: I received an email from the new owners of the River Palms on Sept. 1st 2005, inviting me to stay with them again. I had to laugh when I saw their address. This is too funny. Here it is....

Have visited Laughlin many times before, 1st time staying at River Palms. The staff I would say was not friendly. The first room we received was dirty and at our request was moved to another room, after we called housekeeping and no one showed up. Bell man when he delivered to our 1st room made the rude comment "I guess you don't want this room!". The food in the lower level cafe was good. Family that stayed in other rooms had similiar problems and agree that they would not stay at this hotel again.

I usually stay at Harrah's but always love to gamble here at River Palm. So I decided to stay here since my losses here has earn me a "freebe" for a weekend!!!(Not Bad for a Penny Slot Player) The room was spacious, However the bath tub was not clean. the TV was way too small (17")And the food????Well put it this way. The first night I eat at Harrahs' (Seafood night). The Brunch the next morning? Harrah's. Midnight munchies? In & Out...In other words...I will sleep at River Palms, and I will gamble at River Palms, but I WILL NOT eat at River Palms. Why you may ask? Read the other feedbacks on the food. All of these good people cannot by wrong!!!
Chow.

Check in was easy and valet service was great. Rooms done up great and maybe the best I have been in , in laughlin maybe the Flamingo was a little better but real close. Big baths and great non river view looking at the mountains and the laughlin strip at night from the side.Pool was great open till 12 midnight and drinks and food service there too. the location is the only downfall to this place, at the end of the river walk. Good hike to the other casinos.
Say the berri lee show, at 6 pm free show in the bar there , great act and funny as heck, don't miss him if you go.

We have stayed at the River Palms for quite a number of years. The staff is the welcoming reason. All are very friendly and helpful. When River Palms was called Gold River I found that the comps were more generous than they are now.
The buffet is very good if you aren't into "gourmet". If you want that then spend the money and go to the Lodge. Heck, we rather eat good food, reasonably priced and play the machines! I do, however, miss the fireplace seating area that they closed up and now is an office. We usually have our Winter Retreat for a large number of family members scattered all over the US and we enjoy meeting in a warmer climate during the month of February. Have been doing this now for about 12 or 13 years! Will definitely return and have reservations for August - even though it will be over 100 degrees! The Bingo is excellent and always a fun place to go and spend some time trying to win. Your money goes a lot further with Bingo! This hotel, by far, is the best one on the Laughlin Strip!!
