11/2009 -

Reservation made 08/2009 for 8 days for a great rate stay (Nov. 09) and It was confirmed and quoted at 8 days. I Checked on 10/09 reservation showed at 7 days! After a little fit it was corrected but given 2 confirmation #'s. In November I checked in with no problems, room the usual. On 4th day I went to my room late at night and keycard did not work! had to change out at the front desk because of the second Res. #. On 5th day was wakened @ about 5:30am by screams! A lady was getting the tar beaten out of her somewhere on my floor! I called "0" and it was taken care of. Not a lot of problems, but the new owners must be trying to save $$ because it has changed alot. I will still stay @ this hotel but I did send a private message to Plaza noting some key problems. Other than this it was a pretty usual stay and still the most $$ saving and FUN!! place to stay!

North Tower is next to the check in desk/Fremont St. Experience while the South Tower is next to the parking garage. Taxi pickup is closer to the North Tower. I arrived at the Plaza Hotel 12:30 PM and they arrogantly said the rooms were not going to be ready until 2:30 PM and I must check my bags. At 2 PM I checked the desk again and they politely told my reservation for the North Tower had been cancelled since the water was going to be out for 3 days. A polite lady put me in south tower Room 1143, close to the elevators. It was a large room with a miniature bathroom. The room was about 16’x 25’ with the bathroom/shower/toilet (4.5’ x 5’) inside this area along with a sink/mirror/closet (7’ x5’). In the bathroom you can stand in the middle and touch all four walls and the 7’ ceiling, so it is the smallest bathroom you will ever see. There was a little mold in the corners of the shower, the main room had one wall receptacle hanging loose away from the wall, and another receptacle had only one working socket. The old TV had 12 local channels with a remote. The room had an iron, ironing board, clock, smoke detector, soaps, plastic cups, 2 mirrors, and an old good working floor unit AC/heater. There was a door to the adjacent room and it would lock. There was one pen and no paper to write on, no Kleenex, and no coffee machine. On the 6th and last morning (Tues) the black stuff started coming out of the shower drain into the tub. I had read about this here, but did not think it would happen to me. To get rid of it just flush the toilet and turn on the shower and most of it will go back down the tub drain. You must keep the shower drain closed to keep this from happening! The walls were thin and the beds were comfortable. Looking from the outside the Plaza Hotel appears to have balconies on every room, but they are fake and you can not access the balconies. The pay wireless signal (Intello I-Hotel) was strong coming from the Plaza Hotel/Vegas Club costing $6.50/hr, $10.95/day, $30.95/4 days, or $50.95/week, you can use Papal or credit cards. The six elevators were always quick. There was no room food service, but Payless Pizza 702-877-1900, slipped a menu under the door with burgers, chicken, ribs, sandwiches, salads, and pizza to deliver, try at your own risk. The Plaza has a fair $7.77 buffet, McDonalds dollar menu, Subway, Noble Romans, and Sports Grill. There was a snack machine, ice machine, and $2 drink machine outside the room. After I checked out and left I noticed I was charged $5.55 x 6 nights for a Fremont street view. I called hotel 702-386-2110 and on the second call Heather claimed she would be crediting my card since I did not have a Fremont Street view. She did not offer the tax. I would not stay again since I did not like the longer walk from the south tower from Fremont Street and know when I reserve the north tower and I CAN NOT always get the north tower. I did not like the exposed electrical plugs, black sludge coming up the tub, and being over charged. I know any other hotel downtown would be better.

Stayed in the South Tower. The room was old and beat up. The one thing that I was impressed with was that the cleaning people came in a cleaned up every day which I thought was great until one of them decided to steal my 10 year old daughters bath robe! I had to report the robe missing to 4 different managers before someone finally mentioned filling out a form with security. The managers acted like "Big Deal". It is not that it was a robe-it is the fact that they have cleaning people who CANNOT be trusted in your rooms! Also in the lobby of the casino we witnessed alot of pimp-prostitute activity. The weather outside was hot-of course-"its las vegas"-the swimming pool was FREEZING cold! It was not refreshing-I am talking hypothermia cold! A word of advise-there cleaning help CANNOT be trusted in your room! If they will take a robe that looks cute to them-they would surely take something of real value! You are better off keeping the "do not disturb" sign on the door-so they don't come in and take what they want! I would never-even for the cheap room, stay here again!! ALSO..My husband "for the heck of it" lifted up the matress in the room and the bottom of the matress was covered with blood! It looked as if someone was murdered or a baby was delivered on it! BAD,, REALLY BAD!!!

Well, the joke shouldn't be "how many Plaza associates does it take to change a light bulb?", but also how long. Took 3 days of talking to the front desk to get a bad light fixed, and this was after I told them to give me the bulb, and I'd change it myself. Room was HUGE, but the bathroom could be a bit larger, (about needed to stand in the bath to wipe if you get the drift). But again, HUGE room kind of makes you forget about it quickly. King bed, Sofa, Love seat, coffee table, dining table and 2 chairs, two HUGE 8*8 (at least) mirrors that made the room look even bigger. Very convienient to get to the best resterant for viewing Fremont Street without going through the casino. Was there to get married, and getting out of the stretched Hummer in frount of Plaza with the lights and cameras, makes you think you are in the movies.

Man, what a health hazard. I should have brought portable oxygen because when I walked into the hotel to register I almost passed out from the cigarrette smoke. If you're a smoker then hang out in this place and you wont have to buy any smokes. The location is great but the room ( south tower? ) was a complete sh*thole - it looked as though it was built in the 60's. The bed was as comfortable as a box of rocks and the adjoing room had a couple that seemed to get in a fight every night around 2AM. Once at around 4AM I was lying in bed and awoke in horror to hear someone trying to pry open my door! I made the mistake of eating there and was served what amounted to a frozen TV dinner ( cooked of course!) The steak I had ordered was tough as leather and the coffee wasnt even hot! The price was cheap but when I figure that the smoke probably took a week off my life it wasnt worth it. DO NOT STAY HERE!

I got a good deal through the internet, got an upgrade to a mini suite for the same price and $20 total. The casino I remember was not the casino I played in a few years ago. It was tight, no Full pay VP, the drinks were tiny, but they kept them coming. I felt more like a number than I did in the past few times. I could almost feel an underlying sense of worry or something from the employees - I dunno, maybe I'm nuts! It was OK though. We just gambled elsewhere.

If you like mold in your bathroom, torn carpet, staind walls and drapes, beds like concrete, unusal odors, this is the place for you. The food is below average. The gaming below average. The accomidations are slum-like. I am almost positive that a mini coffee maker is standard in a hotel room, But not at the Plaza Hotel And Casino. The rooms are in dis-repair and extremely dated. For five more dollars a night, you can stay in a hotel with a superior level of comfort. I was ready to go down to Freemont Street and ask the bums down there if they could recomend another hotel. The air conditioner sound very much live a small jet readying for take-off every time it turned on. The exhaust vent in the bathroom had not been cleaned since the hotel had been built. Keep your family away, you don't know what they might catch.

I was worried about staying at the Plaza based on some comments I've read. I actually had a better time than I expected to. The rooms are old and not in the best of shape, but everything was clean. I didn't have any problems with plumbing as others have stated, and the ice machine on our floor worked just fine. We were close to the elevators and didn't hear a thing. We were in room 1848 and had a wonderful view of the strip. The room itself is larger than most downtown rooms I've stayed in, however the bathroom is small but functional. We had some luck in the casino, as well as at the Fremont,Fitzgeralds and Main Street Station. The casino was quite warm at times, during the day it would have been too warm for me to spend much time in, but in the evening it was welcomed, as we were cold in some of the other casinos. I would stay there again if I got a better rate than at the other downtown hotels I've stayed at. Employees we dealt with were all friendly.

We stayed at the Plaza Jul 24-29, 2005 and as usual the rooms were clean, staff friendly and our overall stay was quite nice. The change to the buffet was a real boon. One thing I particularly liked was that if you sign up for their free players club card, you can use it for a $2 discount on thier breakfast buffet ($5.95 less $2 = $3.95) per person. With the variety of food available it was a real bargain. Not sure if the discount is available for the other meals there or not though. Pool was clean and comfortable, casino was not nice to me but then I'm not lucky on the slots<grin>. Room rates over the 'net were quite acceptable, cheaper than thru the hotel itself incidentally.

We were in the south tower, room 1756. The room was very big with a very comfortable king bed, love seat with side chairs, table and 2 chairs on the other end. The view was of the railroad tracks but we could see the north strip and mountains. Hot water was plentiful, room clean up came at about 11:00 and the maid did a very good job. We rented a refrigerator for $2.50 a day and it kept our water and pop very cold. I hope to get this room again when we come back in December.

My wife and I stayed at The Plaza from April 1st to April 5. We stayed in Room 1215 in the North Tower. We were very happy with our choice. We found the room to be quite large, clean and secure. We requested a non-smoking room, the entire floor was non-smoking. There was a suitably sized bathroom with toilet and a tub/shower combination. There was a sink in a dressing area just outside of the bathroom. Perfect for two or more people. There were little soaps, shampoo and conditioner provided. The water pressure was good and hot water came quickly. We didn't notice any of the strange or old hotel smells I've found in other hotels. We found the staff to be helpful and courtious. We felt secure on both the Hotel Property and along Fremont Street. We found the location convenient to the Fremont Street Experience. The hotel is a little old and shows it age around the edges. But we enjoyed the "Old School" ambiance of the place. There are several restaurants, a Seattle's Best Coffee shop, a McDonalds and a SubWay Shop. We would recommend it to anyone looking for a decent place, at a great price, convenient to downtown.

We stayed at the Plaza January 19-22. Check in was no problem and we requested the South tower which we got with 3 adjoining rooms on the 20th floor. The view was the best we have ever had. The rooms were clean and big. We were impressed with the elevators, very fast and no wait. We ate breakfast twice at the buffet. It was $2.00 off with player's card. Good food and good value. All the staff was very courteous and friendly. Due to a late flight we had to check out before we were ready to go to the airport. We were able to check our bags for a few hours with the bellman with no problems and they even reserved a limo for us. We would definitely stay there again. It very convenient to all the other casinos we like to gamble at.

Stayed at Plaza Jan 11 thru 14th. Requested a South tower room with strip view on a high floor, non smoking. Got the perfect room. Yes, the carpeting in the hallways is a little worn, but outside of that, this room was perfectly comfortable. The beds were wonderful, there was NO "funny smell", the room was clean and plenty large. Maybe I just got a "good room" because I came in on a Wednesday, but I cannot complain at all about the Plaza. My only comment is wishing they had more Joker Poker in their VP selection. The Vegas Club, their sister property, has plenty, but is much dirtier and smokier. My brother was staying at the Nugget at the same time, and when I showed him my room, he commented that it was much better than his parking garage view and poorly decorated and maintained room. There were no "bums" in the casino begging for money, which I did experience at Binions. Overall, I rate this hotel a 3 out of 5, and will DEFINATELY return. A wonderful downtown hotel!

We didn't stay at the Plaza, but visited the casino a few times.

If the casino and lobby areas are any indication of the guestrooms, from appearance to smell, to the number of bum types, I would never, ever stay there. I would not eat at the Subway or McDonalds there, although my husband did eat (he loves Subway). The table we sat at was the least filthy, none were remotely clean. The carpet was filthy and in bad shape overall. Many of the ceiling tiles were watermarked, and some were missing altogether.

This hotel is probably fine for the spring break crowd or for those who don't have much in the way of expectations. Maybe some Girls Gone Wild videos have been shot here. If I were in my early 20s and single, I would probably not be so critical of this place, but now that I'm older and wiser, and afraid of foot fungus and dust mites, and actually have stuff of value that I don't want stolen, NO WAY!

At one time, even in the 1980s, this was a really nice hotel. You can see the remnants of this as you walk through the level where the shops are/were. People who are old enough to remember the advertising, but who haven't been to Vegas for a number of years, will be appalled at the decline of what was once the "Union" Plaza, the place to "Live it up" and "Let yourself go". Now it is a fine example of urban decay, what happens when maintenance doesn't happen.

Most of the shops are gone, but there is a "jerky" shop that caters to the Asian tourist with all sorts of Jerky, from beef to fish and beyond, as well as Japanese language newspapers. There is also a beauty shop, but I can't imagine who would go there. The lady on duty had very big hair and a cigarette hanging out of her mouth.

They have some drawings for prizes, and the names are announced through the hotel's public areas. The announcer would leave the mic open while he was coughing, or while he was talking to someone else.

Basically, for those who say that one shouldn't expect much given the room rate, I disagree. One should expect basic cleanliness and safety and I didn't get that vibe at all while we were in the Plaza. I felt the need for a shower after being in the lobby as everything appeared filthy. There were obvious bums loitering about the casino area and right outside the doors. There is no way that I would feel comfortable wearing any nice jewelry (or even my wedding ring) or carrying much cash in this casino, and from some of the other reviews, the room wouldn't be a good place to leave it either. The Greyhound Bus depot just brings more grief to this already challenged hotel.

Also, Las Vegas is a town where the price you pay doesn't necessarily reflect what you are getting. So much is comped, so much is super cheap since so much revenue comes from gaming. That is why these review sites are so important to a tourist planning a visit to a town like Vegas. Some of us old timers may actually expect what the Plaza once was.

I would take my chances at the El Cortez before I would stay at The Plaza. The El Cortez is a much older hotel/casino, built in the 1940s/1950s, and is in better shape that the Plaza, which was built in the 1970s.

Our recent stay at the Plaza was a bad one. The owners are having financial problems and it shows! The slot machines were much tighter than on previous vists. The room was filthy: the windows were so dirty we could not enjoy the view down Fremont Street. The toilet was still dirty from previous guests. To top it off, the room had bed bugs and we were bitten repeatedly! We will not be back.

We stayed at this hotel at the end of Dec. 2005. Planned our travel late in the holiday season so to stay in budget we booked our stay and airplane tickets as a combo online.

On our first day, we were told they had reserved a nonsmoking room for us. But when we arrived they only had smoking rooms and they refused to help us change rooms in the later days. Since day two, we were not allowed to even open the windows because of "newly discovered" saftey concerns. (We were able to open them on our first day of stay. No one told us there were any issues.) The carpet and chairs were dotted with cigar burns. The toilet tank filled up so slowly that you could hear water running for a long time at night.

Our "room" was connected to our neighbor's room through a wooden door, so we could hear their talk, TV and ... For two mornings in a row, when we used the shower around 9 am, there was not enough hot water. The bathroom was so small, there was no room for a small trash can even.

The people at the front desk had a very tired and cold look, as if they hated to be there. We certainly do not want to be in that hotel again. It is cheap but you do have to suffer quite a bit. Don't be fooled by the highrise picture. It is a tall building but old and lacks of basic maintainence. I could not believe it was rated 3 star. What we exprienced really ruined our vacation mood...

The room was not very clean. The bathroom toliet ran and had to constantly be adjusted. The tub had dirt inside and I had to clean it before use. I realize this is an older casino and for the price paid you don't get what you get on the strip but I do expect cleanliness. The coffee bar by check-in was a dissapointment. Not because of the coffee but the young man who was working it on Sunday and Monday mornings. He was extremely rude and while my wife was waiting for her coffee of Sunday morning, she pulled one of the stools out and turned it around. He YELLED at her in a loud mean voice to turn it back around. Others close by turned around and made comments to my wife about his rudeness to them. On Monday morning, my wife saw he was still at the shop so she asked me to get her some coffee. He was not nearly as hostile to me but was neither pleasant or accomodating. Another young lady came up and pulled out a stool and began to sit down. He asked her if he could help her and she stated "no, I just needed to sit for a moment." He told her she would have to buy something to be able to use a chair.

I'm not sure we would like to endure this again.

Sincerely,

Mike Benson

Booked my room on-line and got a $35.00 room rate. First time staying at the Plaza. Checked in and got a room on the 20th floor in the north tower faceing the mountains. When I got to the room, I was surprised to find that it was a mini-suite. King bed, walk in closet with vanity and a wet bar in the bedroom!( not stocked). Bathroom was dated but everything worked fine and it was clean. Plenty of hot water and good pressure in the shower. Hand standard bottles of lotion, shampoo etc. It came with an amendity package that had toothbrush and paste, comb, razor etc. I bring my own stuff but it was a nice extra in case I forgot something. The towels wre standard hotel quality and looked pretty new Blue carpet in the bedroom and closet looked new and clean. The furniture is older( blond wood from the 70's) but was in great shape and looked nice. Limited TV channels and no pay TV movies. I was told that room service was availeable but there was no menu in the room. I don't care for the resturaunts here but there are plenty of others close by. They do have a McDonald, Subway and a Pizza place for a quick lunch or snack. The casino offered the standard table games with average downtown limits.I'm not a slot player so I can't comment on those. They could use to replace the table layouts, lots of stains and burn holes. Overall, if your looking for a nice room, average casino and great location , you should check this place out.

I stayed here July 6-9 2005. Shirley at the check in is a gem. We had 4 girls and she upgraded us to a suite. Yes, i do agree the hotel needs updating but our room was clean and we had no problems while staying there and the slots were very loose for me.

I am returning to the Plaza in March and hope to see Shirley again!

Like all the old downtown hotels but for the Nugget this place also needs renovation to update itself. Sorry but the old time look/feel does not work anymore(are you listening hotel owners?).

We walked in and got hit with a hard musty odor! Many seniors sitting by the slots with oxygen masks on(hmm,is this a clue). Not only the plaza but the others need help be it get torn down or change your styles,it's called putting money back in your place to get MORE folks and maybe even charging more for the rooms but they have to get the old crowd/local dumpy folks out of the hotels for it makes their places look bad and sales go down!

The crown jewel the NUGGET has them all beat and always will,if they added rooms etc then the others might as well close their doors 'cause nobody want's to stay in a dump!

First stay. (Visited the casino several times before.) Stayed in south tower. Asked for a quiet room at check-in. Ended up in a room with consistant noise from outside. Not too bad but still annoying sometimes. Bathroom is small but the shower is good. (Better water pressure than TI or NYNY rooms that I stayed before.) The standard room itself is all right. A bit dated but good size and clean.

Casino is all right and have good table games. Didn't sense any smell that the other reviewer here mentioned. Maybe I am not sensitive enough. Didn't see one old person with oxygen mask on, either.

If your interest is in fancy strip resort or hotel room, downtown is most likely not your kind of place. Just don't come here. Come if you are interested in reasonable room with good price and decent games.

We stayed there two awful nights in mid April. Check in was confusing. When you enter the front doors, the check in desk is straight ahead. But hidden over to the right was the "line" you were supposed to get in. Only it wasn't marked very well at all, so we stood for a couple minutes, and one of the three clerks doing nothing told us to go through the ropes at the right(even though there were no visitors waiting to check in).We were the only ones. So we did, and then he helped us. I imagine he got a good laugh out of that one. He put us in room 655. We went up, and noticed the fake front of the cabinet under the sink was off. There was D-Con mouse poison in there. Well, my wife has this phobia about rodents, so she wanted a different room. When she went back down to complain, the female desk clerk was not very nice to her. Give the Plaza 0 for 2 on the politeness of the front desk clerks. She moved us down to room 645. Both rooms had filthy carpeting, worn out furniture, and the sink in 645 did not have a plunger. Kinda hard to wash your face. It really didn't matter, because the sink drain was so plugged up in took a good half hour to drain. The wallpaper in the bathroom was moldy and peeling. It was bad! When we got home, we went to their website to compare rooms. These two were nothing like they have on their site. We would never stay there again. This was our first try at staying downtown. We always have stayed on the strip, but a friend told us to try staying downtown. If the rooms were at least halfways decent, it would have been a fair deal. If we do stay downtown again, it will be somewhere else. Didn't do well in the casino, either. There was a man working in the sports book that was a sociable clerk, though. Ate at the buffet sunday morning. Was small but tasted ok.

Plaza is the WORST casino-hotel in Las Vegas.DON'T EVER! stay here.I stayed here 3/8/05-3/11/05 my room was broken into and my carry-on bag was stolen , I

mean the WHOLE bag! All i got from security was to fill out voluntary statement and I should fill out police report which I did! I guess anyone who gets ripped off in Vegas NEVER fills out police report but I took 3hrs. to do this, Stolen was portable dvd player, 4 movies, gameboy advance sp ,5 games,$100,

prescription sunglasses ,and other souveniers.I have tried to call security several times and they tell me findings are on going NO ONE has returned my last call I have waited untill now to post this to give them time to make things right -I have received NOTHING in compensation.Management told me when I checked out "We are so sorry" That is all they said!!!

This dump has no cameras where they are needed,The rooms have NO safes the rooms are filthy! Both towers are BAD they moved me from South Tower Super Dump to North tower Dump. Security and management basically did not believe me!! I travel to Vegas 4 times a year and believe you me everywhere I go I will now tell all how I was treated Here!!! I plead with anyone who reads this post never to step foot in Plaza again I have police report to prove what happened yet they think I made this up and would spend my time sitting in a police station on my vacation making up this story!!!

I stayed at the Plaza in February, and while the rooms leave something to be desired, who stays in their room all day?!?!?! For the money that you pay for the rooms, they are a WONDERFUL value! The casino had every table game that you could want and also very reasonable limits. I played alot of the penny slots and, while I did not come home a winner, I had a blast. The diner served great home cooked meals and the snack bar was a great late night place to go after a long day of gambling. The nachos were the BEST there! I would recommend this hotel to anyone who was looking for an inexpensive and nice casino to stay at!!!

Had a good stay for 7 days, the bathrooms are a little small, but, that really doesn't matter, only 1 person should be in there at a time anyway. We were in the south tower, housekeeping was very good and all that worked there were fine. Maybe 1 bartender at the sports book bar was a little grouchy, he must have had a short night, this was in the morning 10 AM football. Breakfast buffet, very good, show your players card. We will stay there again, gambling wasn't as good this trip there but in the past was good. Make sure you go to the Larry Jones show at 6 PM, very entertaining. Anyone have any questions, shoot away!

WE INTENDED TO STAY FOR A FIVE DAY VACATION BUT SHORTENED IT TO 3 DAYS BECAUSE THE HOTEL WAS SO ATROCIOUS!!! FIRST OF ALL THE BED WAS UNSLEEPABLE. WE HAD A "MINI SUITE" WHICH MEANT WE HAD A COUCH, 3 CHAIRS A SMALL TABLE AND A DESK W/ A CHAIR. THE COUCH WAS SO FILTHY THAT WE WOULDN'T SIT ON IT, NOT TO MENTION A BIG CIGARETTE BURN ON ONE OF THE ARMS. THE CHAIRS WERE RICKETY AND ALSO HAD SERIOUS STAINS ON THE SEATS, BACKS AND ARMS. WHEN WE REQUESTED ANOTHER BLANKET, WE GOT WHAT I REFERRED TO AS A "KING SIZE RAG" - IT WAS TORN, WORN AND WASN'T COMING ANYWHERE NEAR OUR BODIES. 3 OF THE LAMPS IN OUR ROOM WERE BROKEN. AT OUR INSTANCE THEY WERE FINALLY FIXED WHICH ILLUMINATED THE OLD, STAINED CARPETING - MOST SPECIFICALLY A LARGE STAIN OF SOME WHITISH "UNKNOWN SUBSTANCE" (USE YOUR IMAGINATION).

THE STAFF WAS GENERALLY UNFRIENDLY AND UNPROFESSIONAL. CUSTOMER SERVICE DID NOT APPEAR TO BE A PRIOROTY TO MANAGEMENT. MY FINAL THOUGHTS ON THIS HOTEL FROM HELL IS "ENTER AT YUR OWN RISK AND BE PREPARED TO DISINFECT WHEN YOU LEAVE"!!!

Stayed here for my boyfriends birthday with some family memebers and had a great time!! The people were all very nice and check in was fast! Drinks were good and so was the diner! Pool was o.k. pretty empty, but thats a good thing in Vegas. The room was what was to be expected of an older hotel, not to great, but not the horrible conditions that some people say. The bartenders were very nice and even gave me another Pina Colada when I spilled mine. Overall I would say a nice place to stay!!

Our stay at the Plaza was great. Went 8/8-8/13, and it was no trouble at all. Yes, the Plaza is showing it's age, but we enjoyed our stay their. The elevators were fast, beds were firm and comfortable. Stayed in the North Tower rooms 1111 & 1116, and had a great view of the FSE from our window. No trouble anywhere. Close to the train station, that we use to travel into the city. We will stay here again. The handicapped room we had for my mother was large. Both the bathroom and the bedroom were well done for persons that are handicapped. Staff was great. Also, the Diner and the Center stage were great places to eat at, service was excellent.

Booked the Plaza for $178 for 6 nights (Wed thru Mon) at funjet.com. I was kind of worried about the quality for the price and some of the reviews I read were less than favorable. However, the Plaza is a great value downtown. Here's why... The room we had was large, had 2 beds, a fridge, a dining area, and was clean. Try to find that on the strip for the price. We read about some kind of funky smell in the casino, but I didn't notice it. The location can't be beat and Freemont street is really cool. You can get 23oz margaritas for 8 bucks, The freemont hotel has a buffet that rivals anything on the strip for a lot less money, there is a shopping mall, movie complex, drugstore, and pretty much anything else you need all within 5 minutes walking of the hotel. If you want to be part of the "in crowd" stay on the strip for 3 to 4 times the cost just to say you did so. If you want a place to sleep and have money for other stuff, stay here and catch a bus to the strip for $2.00. As far as gambling goes, the poker tables are good. Damon and Sonny are excellent dealers and work swing shifts. They have tornaments every morning as well. If you are a novice, do not play poker in the AM, this is when the old timers and locals sit there waiting to take the tourists money. Early evening and late nights is the time to play. They also have progressive jackpots for specific hands. I saw two guys win on this, 1 pulled in 500+ for a straight flush and the other 100+ for 4 twos. This makes the games fun too. All the downtown casino's are pretty laid back. The games are older, but fun. I do highly recommend a machine called "winning for dummies" at the Fitz. I won $15.00 each time I played this and only put in $3 to win it. (hit it 3 times). Make sure you play the max credits to get the bonus spin. I loved this slot. If you want to know anything else, shoot me an email!

Great location in Downtown. Rooms and decor showing its age, but for the price your paying, its OK. There are two towers, South and North. The North is closest to the main lobby and the restaurants as well as easy access to the Fremont Street Experience Rooms in this tower supposedly were renovated more rececently than the South . The South is closest to the Valet and Self-parking. Casino is medium sized, that you will never feel crowded. Service was pleasant on all facets.

Stayed at the Plaza from June 20th-24th. Second time to stay and had a great time. Room was o.k. for the value and the selection of eateries is great. Lots and I repeat lots of video poker, while the .25 and $1 lots are limited. $5 table limits on all the games. Ate at the Plaza Diner a few times, always good and charged the meals to my room and at the end of my stay was comped all the meals. Pool area is nice with lots of loungers and a good snack bar is nearby. Would gladly stay at the Plaza again.

Let's face it, you don't come here if you expect the Bellagio, but I have to say I love this hotel. It's old-style Vegas at it's best. The casino, whilst smoky and a little dark, actually holds the most up to date slots I've seen in any casino. The rooms, whilst a little old, are fully functional (note that the basins and mirrors are actually outside the bathroom - which are small but do the job). There are two towers, the south(?) tower is the one that overlooks fremont street (although you cannot see the experience shows from the windows) - the north tower is right across the casino from the lobby. They are currently upgrading some of the rooms - and they look fantastic from what I saw of them - but be prepared for a basic, standard "ageing" holiday inn type if you pay bottom dollar rates (which I normally do). Plenty of food options - apart from the gourmet restaurant (which overlooks the FSE), 24 hour diner and buffet - there are MacDonalds, Subway, a sports deli and a pizza to go eatery by the lobby. I saw the magic show, it ain't Lance Burton but you can normally pick up >$25 tickets which makes it worth it (if you like magic) Dirk Arthur is amiable enough and the showroom is small enough to feel intimate. There's also one of downtowns only pools and tennis courts plus a rooftop jogging area. Oh, and while I'm thinking about it - try the chinese buffet - it's fantastic.

The only downside are some of the check-in staff - I find them very curt - and 2 out of my 3 stays I have had issues with my booking (first time I was told Breakfast wasn't included when I booked an internet offer which certainly included it, second time I was confused with another person with the same surname at the hotel and was told I could not stay for one of the days I had booked - which I spent an hour sorting out the next day. Thank the lord for Shirley who is certainly the gem of the front-desk staff.

Thanks for reading.

I took a Greyhound bus trip to visit with friends in Las Vegas, and this was the best location near the bus terminal (Next door), and in the downtown area. I wasn't pleased with the long check-in wait, or the long walk to the South Tower elevator, BUT my room was upgraded to a "petite-suite" (#514) without my knowledge. It was a very large, comfortable, and exceptionally clean room, with a view of the strip in the far distance. The bathroom and closet areas were more than adequate too. I relaxed on the sofa to watch some local TV before venturing down to the casino, and that old sofa was just like at home... just broken in enough to make my back feel better after my long bus ride! The casino was everything I hoped for in a downtown venue, with plenty of snack bars, Mc Food and cocktails. The restaurants at the Plaza didn't appeal to me though. The Slots paid out as per expected, and the Keno Lounge was a comfortable place to rest while playing inexpensive tickets. I brought Mc Salads and Shrimp Cocktails from around the area to my room, and ate major meals elsewhere too.

The hotel staff members were all pleasant and professional, and I feel this was the best visit to Las Vegas for my money! The added bonuses of a pool, gym and a guest laundry (on the 5th floor too) made for the most convenient place I've stayed in Las Vegas yet. (And I've stayed at two dozen hotels there.) Great rates, great value. Great thanks, Plaza, and I'll be staying there from now on!

We (my husband and I) stayed at the Plaza May 31 - June 2, and had an absolutely marvelous time! The staff was very courteous and helpful. The room while not new, were very clean. We had originally intended to do our gambling on the strip and stay downtown because of the less expensive rooms, but we never left downtown! The Fremont Street area has everything you could possibly want. We went to several of the downtown restaurants in the casinos and were very pleased will all of them. I highly recommend the Plaza and we are planning to go back as soon as possible!

Stayed at the Plaza April 1-4.........check-in was quick; had asked for a non-smoking room, none available; very friendly clerk named Jen told us to check back in an hour and she might have something. After dinner, checked back and she could move us to a non-smoking room on the 12th floor facing the mountains. Room was clean, large, view was great; bathroom is small but we liked the fact that the shower/toilet area is separate from the sink. Beds were a little hard, but we managed fine for 3 nights. Joined the slot club and did rack up quite a few points in the 3 days we were there. Food at the Plaza diner was great - had two very good breakfasts there. All in all good visit and we will stay there again. Yes, it's not a mega-resort, but if that's what you want, stay on the strip. We like the more laid-back atmosphere of downtown and the fact that all the casinos are within a short walk of each other. We feel safe and secure - lots of security at the hotel and up and down Fremont Street. Everyone at the Plaza seems friendly and willing to help if there is a problem. We'll be back next year!!

We stayed here for the first time in early April. The check in was easy. The staff was friendly abd helpful. The room was spacious. The sink is not in the bathroom which was good. The casino was smoky but what are ya gonna do? We saw the Dirk Arthur Magic Show which was very inexpensive and very entertaining. The Diner didn't impress much as we had to wait 45 minutes for very mediocre food. The easy access to the Fremont Street Experience was a plus. The parking garage was convenient. The pool was nothing to get excited about as it only went to 5 feet deep but that was good for our 7 year old. All in all, staying at the Plaza was a good experience and we'd stay again.

When most all other hotels were sold out for the NAB show, I got a room for $27 and that included buffet breakfast! Hey, It wasn't fancy but it was clean. Big room, too. Pool is a dump but the 4 tennis courts looked nice. I had a corner room on the 16th floor with a great view of the strip. Overall it's a good deal for the casual traveler. Not to romantic, not to hip. Kind of like a 25 story motel 6.

Oh my dear God - where do I begin with this nightmare of a hotel? After parking in the very unsafe-feeling garage, I checked in, then was damned-near choked to death by the overwhelming smoke smell in the hotel elevators. Once we got to the room, I was horrified at the lack of decent decorations - just random ugly paintings of movie stars - one unidentifiable creepy man with a huge cigarette hanging out of his wrinkled mouth, who would stare at me as I'd sleep. What an unsettling feeling to wake up and see the outline of his creepy face illuminated by the eerie glowing light from the neighboring railroad station and Main Street Hotel & Casino. What was even more unsettling was waking up the next day, to find out from the morning news that there was a hostage situation complete with SWAT teams, rifles, and a suspected murderer happening right across the street from the hotel! What a swell area this borders on! This hotel scared me to death - if I'd had more money, I wouldn't have come back for the second night. I really don't recommend this hotel for anyone unless you find a Super 8 or a Motel 6 to be nice. I hear rumors that they're upgrading it - PRAISE THE LORD. I don't know how anything short of demolishing the joint and starting over will help, but we'll see. STAY AWAY AND STAY SAFE ON THE STRIP!

Everything went well for me during my brief visit. Was offered room comps for repeat visits, which I plan on using.

Had another excellent stay at the Plaza over Super Bowl weekend...got a great rate of $214 for 5 nights with a local travel agent...had a nice clean room on the 11th floor overlooking Fremont Street...was given a coupon book that included a $25 blackjack matchplay....As long as you don't mind sacrificing some of the "newness" of the strip hotels, you can't go wrong at the Plaza...great location with easy walking access to all of the downtown casinos...if you rent a car, parking here is a breeze...this hotel is a lot of fun and a great value.

stayed a week. excellent value. played blackjack and texas hold em poker. the comps for playing were generous. the room was clean, and the staff were very friendly. I mostly ate at the Diner, which was in the casino. The food was good. I visit Las Vegas 4 times a year, and in April my wife and I will be returning to the Plaza. I've stayed at four different hotels downtown, and the Plaza was the best so far.
