Date Visited: 09/10 - Good Visit

I am a club Grazie member and I like to gamble. We stayed at the Venetian before and gave the Palazzo this time around because club Grazie, knows how to treat return customers. The wife and I only gambled at Palazzo/Venetian this time around.

This hotel is family friendly, but not someplace where you go to primarily entertain your kids. The wife and I entertained the kids during the day at areas off the strip (Do your homework. Example: Lied Discovery Museum) and gambled at night (took turns watching the kids-don't trust rent-a-nannies). We live in Southern California which has Indian Reservations for gambling, but nothing beats the atmosphere of Vegas for gambling.

Don't like seeing people with kids at the casino? (See review below) Get over it. There are a lot of us who have acquired enough disposable income after securing college tuition, securing retirement, and taking care of the mortgage to have enough money left over to play with.

I see the retirees getting sandwiches and watching the Jersey Boys. That's cool. They can have their fun and the 30-something crowd with kids and who are surviving this "recession" just fine are going to have theirs as well.

Yes, there is Circus-Circus where many families like to go to. But it doesn't beat the atmosphere for gambling like the Venetian/Palazzo.

Quick rundown of what is available:

Pool: Open until 7pm. 1 1/2 feet to 4 feet and it has Cabanas available.

Best Restaurant: Grand Lux Cafe. We ate here every night.

Security: Top notch and professional. I saw one gentleman being no-so gentlemanly and he was dealt with promptly and professionally.

Shows: The older generation seems to like the Jersey Boys. I wish I could relate, but like I said, I'm in my 30's.

Valet Services/Housekeeping/Front desk: A+ and very professional.

I gave the Casino a 10/10, but I did notice that there were quite a few penny slots. Maybe these are the big money-makers? I might do the quarter slots, but most of my time will be on the $1 slots or more whenever I come to Vegas.

They have a new game here called "Pocket Casino" I enjoyed it. It seem to have some minor server issues (I was booted once and couldn't log back on without going for a new one). But overall, I see it as a promising thing that I will play again during future visits. It doesn't currently give you any Grazie Points, so I didn't play it as much as I would have.

Oh yeah, I'm one of the (nice) t-shirt clientele (that's for the geezer reviewer below).

See you in Vegas Baby.

This was my first time staying here, the time it took to check in was rather long but once I made it past

that everything else was great. Rooms were big and clean, the atmosphere was very relaxing.

I just booked another trip and will be staying here again in July... cant't wait!

Stayed at the Venetian in October and in January we received an offer for a 3 night complimentary stay at the Palazzo which we eagerly accepted for our March visit to Vegas. Offer included a video poker tournment which was great fun. Rooms about the same as the Venetian, large and beautiful. Service was exceptional from all of the staff that we came in contact with. We did not play very much in the Palazzo casino as we preferred the Venetian casino where we did reasonably well. Food at the restaurants we tried was a little pricy but quality was outstanding. Looking forward to our next visit.

Date Visited: 12/08 - Good Visit

up dated 8/23/09 on the bottom

We stayed at the Palazzo Monday 12/1/08 and checked out Wednesday 12/3/08. I returned with my wife and 30 yr old daughter on on 8/16/09 and checked out 8/20/09.... My first trip to Vegas was 1974. I have stayed at 18 different strip hotels on numerous occasions. I always book the standard deluxe Vegas room and take what I get. This trip was with a male friend from work, not my wife. The room fully comped. He gambles a lot.

Check in was fast and classy. We were offered the rooms with a view of the strip on higher floors for only $45.00 a night which we declined. Also the money for the $20 trick always looks better in my pocket. Think about this one…. It’s Vegas if you spend more than 7 hours all total in one day, in the room sleeping and changing,,, is Vegas really your kind of town.

Cliental: During the day people were nicely dressed, very few t shirts. There were a few children but not many. This hotel does not cater to children. This is a very slow week but from what I could tell the hotel goes after the 35 + crowd that has money to spend and wants to spend it on a fancy room.

Hotel: clean all around. Very nice décor, front to back side to side. Hall ways were clean, no room service trays left in a hall way. The guard was at the elevator asking to see room keys 24-7. In the early morning hours 5-6 AM there was a shortage of cocktail waitresses for early morning coffee. Later in the day and night the cocktail waitresses came out in force. The floor plan to walk through the casino is somewhat easy, a big square. The over head signs indicating what direction to head in were alright. A rest room from the table games was a good hike.

ROOM: Compared to the standard deluxe rooms in most hotels, this room was big. It should be, it’s a suite. Ours had 2 beds, dressers, ceiling to floor windows. Push a button and the drapes opened and closed, push a button and the shades went up and down. L shaped cough, coffee table flat screen. The other flat screen was in front of the beds. Over priced, mini bar. Large enough closet, complementarily robes to ware, safe in the room no charge. The bath room was big enough. There was his and hers sinks, separate make up table, mirror and chair. There was a separate area for the sit down with a door. There was a small flat screen in the bathroom. No sitting ledge in the shower. The soaking tub was separate no bubbles. I did not see Mouth wash, q-tips or a hair dryer, the hair dryer had to be someplace but with no hair to dry I didn’t look hard for it.. The shampoos and soaps were just fine, better than most hotels.

Staff. From check in to check out everyone was nice, willing to please. The maids kept the room clean; there were chocolates on the night stand. The staff always said hello to me in the hall ways. Dealers thanked me for every $1.00 tip they got. The casino cocktail waitress, were always friendly.

Shops – One gift store on the main floor. Up the escalator and there was a huge mall area that is connected to the Venetian, Very expensive shops.

Spa: Was going to go there, didn’t go there. Canyon Ranch $40 a day for work out area, steam and shower, I felt it was over priced

Food: Is the food over priced? To me the answer is yes a little but then we only ate in the coffee shop. But, remember, what doesn’t cost a lot to one person is over priced to someone else. Pancakes if I remember $8.50 for a huge short stack.. compared to the mirages $10.00 for the same thing.

Casino: Plenty of floor space nothing squeezed in. Machines. Lots of penny machines play 40 lines for 20 coins per line play extra lines win the progressive penny slot. ( no comment) No sticky buttons the currency accepter always took my money. Black Jack; I did see a couple $10.00 tables in the morning hours. At night, the limit went up to $15.00. Roulette; I believe the combined minimum bet on roulette was $10.00. Craps I don’t play, Video Poker, jacks or better, for dollars the best pay scale to be found was 8/5. That’s in line with the Mirage. ( Wynn has 9/6). Poker Room, nice size,,, Sports Book, I never found it.

Comps I signed up for the card. I didn’t play enough on the machines to get any free play. ( this is a good thing) To be rated at the tables it’s $25.00 a hand. My table play covered the $80.00 we charged to the room for food. Now I’ll sit back and see what post card and email offers come in. Slot play is, 1 point for every 1 dollar in. VP is 1 point for every 3 dollars in. No idea what a point is worth. I believe it was 2500 points before you earned something like $15.00 in free play.

Pool- I actually went to the pool and looked at it, just in case I want to return with the wife,,,, Ms. Pool Queen. It’s nice all 5 or 7 of them, 2 hot tubs. There were people there, laying around on lounges in swim suits.

The over all - Be prepared to run up $150.00 to $200.00 in additional expenses a day if you eat 3 square meals a day in the hotel. Different people have different expectations. To me The Palazzo had a slower more relaxing resort atmosphere about it. The room was above and beyond my expectations. The rooms were nicer than the rooms at the Wynn. I came to the conclusion, it was a good trip, but it was missing that buzz of excitement, the Palazzo was not a fun hotel for me. ( boring music ) What’s fun for one may not be fun for someone else. Is fun playing tic tac toe against a chicken? Is sitting in the lounge just off the casino floor watching a rocking band for the cost of a $6.50 drink fun for you,,, or is sitting on your couch in your room watching a flat screen fun for you ? I did enjoy the resort, it’s very nice, very classy. I might go back with the wife, once, so she could check out the pool, providing they offered me the room for around $115.00.

up dates from the wife 8/23/09

I returned with my wife and my 30 year old daughter in August 2009 for the 4 free nights I was offered.. ( the last trip with my oldest daughter along for the ride was to the Tropicana in a cheap room )( I wanted her to see all sides of the Vegas strip hotels )Both were impressed with the Palazzo staff, their service, the room ,and pool. Both remarked several times to me during the trip how nice the hotel was.... I found this humorous, My wife decided the bathroom at the WYNN was nicer, only because the make up table and chair was between the sinks at the WYNN.... The Palazzo's make up table and chair was away from the sinks so she probably would not use it. Both noticed how spread out the casino was.. nothing was squeezed together. My wife remarked how there was a lack of cocktail waitresses pool side. The pool chairs at the WYNN were coushioned. These chairs were nicer than the standard strapped lounges and you were given a cover to set over the chair to lay on. She liked this pool better.

Their over all... The wife and daughter both liked everything about the hotel.

Date Visited: 03/08 - Bad Visit

OK...so maybe it pays to give Adelson another visit later this year but we stayed there within the first 3 or so months it was open. BIG MISTAKE TO MANAGEMENT: Do not put the "no smoking" slots next to the major casino pathways to make it seem like smoking is under control and then you have smoking at the slots next to the restaurant (Grand Lux Cafe). Dumb after all the money you've spent. (You should send me a free stay for that comment). Don't put vases in the rooms without flowers and let people know each time you MOVE A BOTTLE IN THE ROOM FRIDGE, YOU'LL BE CHARGED. Beautiful place and I'll go back since I think we just got there a bit early in the stage of "settling in" for the staff and hotel. I've stayed at the Venetian and think it's better but that's only because Palazzo is still working it out as a new enterprise.

Stayed at Venetian many times, not a real big gambler, but they do take care of past customers with free room offers by mail every month to get me back. The Palazzo offered two free nights so we wanted to check it out on this trip. Rooms were large and roomy. Same as venetian but new contemp decor. Staff was helpful and prompt to any needs we had. played quater slots most of time to let them know i was there. Received future rooms comped by mail upon arriving home. I'm a Platium player at harrahs and I can not squeeze a buffet out of them for ten years of loyalty?? Harrahs corp is to large now. Don't need the reg gambler now?? The slots at Palazzo kept you playing for awhile. Spent min amount cash. Grand Lux has great food and is priced right. Lunch and dinner everyday. Pool or should say Pools, are spacious and without the rugrats like other hotels. GO to Disneyland people with the four year olds. Smoke filled casino with booze and hookers, both on the streets and in the hotels is NO place for family of five?? Venetian and Palazzo will recieve my loyalty from now on. try this place, you will not go wrong and they will reward you in future trips.
