I walked into Luxor with 10g's and planed to sit and play some cards. 1st its

not a child's play ground by no means with the casino and and 2 of hotest clubs

and the Luxor really has nothing to offer kids But a pool and I my self would

close that off and make it a bit more adult if ya know what mean you would prob

get packed clubs at night, Pool parties unlike others plus a rev sales from the

sales of alc from pool deck in day time close it down for 2 hrs clean up and

change staff and have it lined back up with people waiting to live up a night in

the water dancing with people of there choice with some added dance floor

lighting all around the pool in safe areas and Dj's. It would be what I want. I

know I would have stayed longer than 30 mins to 1 hr i prob would have been a

guest of the hotel for the weekend and cause of the crying baby the lady was

holding while they played 1¢ slots. i moved way away and ran into more kids that

parents were not controlling and as well i just felt like i was in a kindred

care and waiting till i tripped over toys. I threw my brand new MLife card in

the trash and went to a real adult casino hotel resort where they happy to take

my 10g's. The luxor has the setup to be a gold bank with the themes they have.

just have to pull it back up and make a few minor changes to max the profit. And

that's just a view from a person who travel to clubs, bars and family

restaurants threw out the mid west and south west Usa getting paid to do case

studies for owners how to increase what people of the area are looking for and

why they are not spending the money with them. And lot of times they have

everything they need on hand to turn it around on the spot. If not long till do

though. but the luxor has the right spot and look to bring up profits with in 28

days and let the Excalibur be family land usa it fits the profile and sadly it

might even profit by new ideas to set more of that seen. But the kids do not

need to be any where on a gambling level as much as possible of any casino.. but

who am i just a small fry and MGM Int will never do more than what they are

doing. Thats why i'll never walk back into any MGM Property to spend a waisted

breath on them... Thanks Later

Luxor Hotel & Casino

Date Visited: 05/11 - Bad Visit

It was our last night in Vegas and we decided to take in one more show. We

decided on "Fantasy" at the Luxor. Well, we prepaid for tickets and had

receipts of paying $150.00 for 2 tickets. We arrived early and sat by Starbucks

for coffee, which was near the front of the Show. I told my husband that I

would go and get the tickets. When I went into the Show, the guy told me I had

to go to the Ticket booth outside the Show to get the tickets. The Ticket booth

was not anywhere near the Show, so I had to walk down way further and waited in

line to get the receipt turned into 2 tickets.

After finally getting to the "front of the line" to get the tickets, the girl

asked for my ID. I had left my purse with my husband over at Starbucks which

was not anywhere near the Ticket booth. I was not at all happy at this point,

so I asked her to show me where the receipt said that I needed an ID to turn my

receipt into tickets. She said that the receipt did NOT state that, but that it

was "their policy." I asked to see or speak to the hotel manager as this was

total crap as it was not written on the receipt. Instead of getting the

manager, she called the HOTEL SECURITY.

Now picture this: I'm an old lady with my old husband to see a show and this

idiot ticket taker calls security!!! Two security women come running up (out of

breath thinking a very serious situation was going on) and they couldn't believe

that they just risked a heart attack running up to see little old me asking for

2 tickets for the Show for which I paid $150!!! They both told me they couldn't

believe that the ticket taker called Security for something like this. They

told my husband (who arrived by this time wondering why it was taking so long to

get the tickets) that they thought this was the most ridiculous call they were

ever on and said they would have comped me if they could, but that they didn't

have power to do anything to help me.

I even went into a retail store nearby and asked them to call the hotel manager,

and they tried, but the phone just rang and rang. They couldn't believe it

either -- all the hassles I was getting -- and at this point I still didn't have

the tickets to the Show!!

Finally, someone named Jake came over and apologized and said that he was

getting us (not giving us) front row seats. After ALL this hassle and

harassment, they did NOT comp us -- we still had to pay $150 for the Show. The

Show was okay but certainly not worth the $150/2 and definitely NOT worth all

the hassle we went through to get into the Show.

We even went to complain after the Show to the hotel's night manager (David)

about our horrific treatment of the ticket taker calling security -- and he

promised us a call back as to what the hotel was going to do, but lucky for us -

- we didn't hold our breath. It was horrible to be treated so poorly especially

after paying so much for tickets.

There are plenty of other shows in Las Vegas and we've been to Vegas a lot of

times and never had this sort of treatment, and never want it again. If it's

their policy to treat their guests like crap, then I'd say stay clear of Luxor's

ticket booth and see another show at another hotel.

I feel the very least they could have done is comp us after all the hassle we

got. Everyone there agreed (even Jake who works there) that we shouldn't have

been greeted with security and treated like crap to get our tickets which we

paid for. Even the hotel manager said Miranda was wrong.

I wished that we had gone with our first choice, which was Holly Madison, as it

totally ruined our last night in Vegas.

I was there 4/15/11- 4/18/11 and the moment we opened the door to our room, we immediaetly went back to customer service and requested another room, went to that room and went back to customer service and requested our money back, at that time manager came out and ask if we would like a suite for $50.00 a nite more and we then said let us take a look at it, we went and it was ok but not really a suite, so we stayed, later that evening we wined down an hit the jucuzzi and somehow dirt was coming from the jets (filthy) an we brought our own bleach and lysol and that did not work, PLZ THINK 4'X's before staying at the LUXOR. i would not stay there again if they gave me a free weekend.

My friends and I had an AMAZING time at the Luxor. Our ages range from 21-23 and it was all of our first trips back to Vegas now that we were all legal to drink. I have been to vegas every year since I was 12 and I've never stayed somewhere as beautiful as the Luxor. when you walk in, it looks so expensive and rich, which is nice because we got such a good deal on our rooms. the rooms were beautiful and comfortable and pretty large, and we only stayed in a queen deluxe. The staff was very friendly and helpful and we are all going back this august!

We decided to stay at The Luxor for the first time due to the room rate ($36+ resort rate)and the Titanic for one night. Rm #29023. What a mistake! We stayed in the pyramid. We were told to inspect the room to be sure that the carpeting was stained which it wasn't. My daughter did a bed bug inspection and low a behold, evidence on the bottom sheet. We called housekeeping and they did change the bedding. We discovered things about the room that made the experience less comfortable. The TV had internal cracks in the "bulb" that you could see, poor reception on some stations, the internet came from behind the TV and could only reach the edge of the bed, an A/C that sounded like it came off the Titanic, leaky shower door, an alarm clock to rang and we could locate the button to cancel the alarm...The 1B elevators ran like there were 100 Egyptians turning a spocket...literary swinging as it moved. The elevator interiors needed TLC. I can't imagine hotel management doesn't notice these things. I usually stay at the Orleans and never see anything like this! ...and the Orleans have a better buffet.

Travelled from the UK and stayed at the Luxor for my 40th Birthday in November 2009 with a girl friend. Beds were comfortable and room was big and larger than what you get in the UK. Casino was great with a nice selection of games. Loved the Star Wars, Stargate and especially the Star Trek Machines. My friend wouldnt come off the Wizard of Oz machine! Everyone there was friendly and accomodating. Only negative is the lifts had a tendancy to stop on whatever floor it felt like and had to swipe cards a few times before it registered. Got 4 nights stay comped at the end of the trip. I would stay here again without a doubt.

We just returned from a 4 day trip to Las Vegas and took 3 rooms at The Luxor.

We were placed in the pyramid rooms. We discovered that my daughter's room had a leaky window when she sat in a chair under the window and found it to be soaking wet. We had 2 separate occasions in our room that involved housekeeping. The minor one was when dirty glasses were left in our room after being cleaned. The second and most serious was when housekeeping totally missed cleaning our room. After some words with them we were able to at least get some clean towels.

We found the casino to be lacking. The selection of slots is bad and they are very tight.

The only bright spot we found was the food court. I never thought I'd say it, but thank god for McDonald's.

We usually stay at The Orleans Hotel which by far a better value than what we just experienced.

Dark and dingy hotel. Hotel rooms leak when it rains, holes in the walls of the room, carpets dirty. Housekeeping can clean your room in the time it takes you to walk down to the lobby and back (how clean is it really?). Front desk was not friendly at all. I don't think it would kill anyone to crack a smile. They didn't even ask us how our stay was when we checked out. Could that be because no one is happy staying there? Go on trip advisor. The ratings are spot on with how horrible this hotel is.

Stayed for a mini vacation 1/24 for 2 nights. Checked in at the towers stayed in Pyramid. If you stay there check in at the tower as there was no one in line to check in. Also valet that side as well. Room is worn out. Looked like bathroom was upgraded but that was about it. Water stains under the window. Coffee shop limited menu and was very costly. Glad the food court was there. Disappointed during the stay. Will not stay there again.

Didn't stay at Luxor but visited the casino. Oh, how it has gone downhill over the years. Confusing layout, dealers who don't seem to know what they are doing. Pit bosses who don't seem to care. No wonder it was so empty compared to other casinos around town. Luxor seems to be on the way out.

My visit at the Luxor was pretty good overall. However, I primarily went to "hopefully" get a glimpse of Criss Angel, and outside of the show he's in, I never saw him... I would also have to comment that the beds were aweful - terrible! Very uncomfortable and cheap. Also, the location isn't the most convenient as it is located at the far south end of the strip... The Luxor is also much larger and more cavernous than it appears on the outside.

I had planned to stay at the Luxor, but decided to cancel the reservation once I got to the hotel and saw the madness inside the front door. I've stayed here before, and front desk check-in is still the same nightmare of long lines to check-in. It's simply because Luxor doesn't staff appropriately. It's not the staff's fault, but squarely on management. It's one of the few hotel's who will force hundreds of people to stand and clock watch until that magic hour of 3:00 to check-in. Most hotels have no problem to check you in, as long as they have rooms made up. If they don't have rooms ready, big deal. Just stop back later. I suspect these tactics are to force you to deal with time-share pitchmen who are littered through the lobby. Even though I didn't stay there, I still went upstairs to look at the rooms. Yes, there was no security near elevator corridors, and up on the floors the housekeeping staff let me walk right into open door rooms of other guests. I told her I just wanted to check out the rooms, and she was A-Okay with that. (Do you realize people actually leave CASH laying in rooms?) She continued with her chat with her co-worker. She could care less that she had strangers in customer's rooms. It was sort of like "Nightline" or "20/20". The rooms are still pretty much the "old" rooms, which a few inexpensive items have been changed out. This hotel has been stripped of it's Egyptian theme. If it looked like a pyramid, it will now look more like Walmart. I guess I liked some of that gimmicky stuff. If Luxor could paint it over with eggshell paint, I think it would do it! It's sad, the theming was cute. It's looking much like the Riviera. (If you're a nostalgia buff, see the Riviera soon, I'm sure it's almost done for. They were offering rooms for $18.00 a night) Nope! Didn't stay THERE either! :) Thanks for reading. Sorry if it sounds negative, I'm just being honest.

I had an accident @ the casino while

staying in the Towers, was taken by

ambulance, pumped full of drugs,

released from the hospital because our

flight was leaving. The risk

management group is a complete joke!

They refused to pay a dime for my

ambulance, hospital bills, meds,

nothing! This was I believe my 7th stay

@ the Luxor, as I studied Egyptology in

college, & loved the past ambiance of

the hotel. This last visit was a disaster

by all means, not to mention the lack of

stores they once adorned in the

Gallery. The antiquity shops were gone,

the papyrus writers gone, the

Perfumeria gone. And then to find out I

am financially responsible for an

accident caused by their ignorance? I

will never return, & I've told everyone I

know also not to return. You are not

they do nothing but bat there lashes as

Was very pleasantly surprised with The Luxor, as we had heard not so good things, especially after reading ratings from this site, but we were there for a business event that was held on the premises. Stayed in a Tower Room and upon check-in was offered an upgrade for a nominal fee for a suite, which we took advantage of and are so glad we did! The suite was very spacious, nicely decorated and clean. We understood they had redecorated the rooms somewhat recently and the suite was very nice. The staff was exceptional too, as everyone we encountered was very helpful and friendly. The onsite restaurants were ok, the buffet not so great but then again we went to the buffet at Mandalay Bay also and that wasn't very good either...I guess once you've hit the ones at the Bellagio and Paris you really can't compare. The steakhouse at The Luxor, Tender, we thought was very overrated also and the service not very attentive. However, again since we were at The Luxor for a business event, we enjoyed several meals from the catering department and the food was EXCELLENT, which is usually the very much the opposite - so kudos to The Luxor's events department! My one major complaint with The Luxor is the location, which is at the very end of the strip. The hotels that are adjacent to it, The Excalibur (which was disgusting) and Mandalay Bay (which was ok) are not that impressive. Otherwise, if you don't mind walking the strip A LOT or taking advantage of taxis (as the monorail isn't available that far at the end of the strip) the you might want to give the Luxor a chance - it certainly gave us a really pleasant surprise! Or if you are planning a business event, as their staff made everything run smoothly and the food was fantastic! For a strictly pleasure trip though, we'll stick with The Paris or Bellagio as we love their locations much better.

I am still amazed that the staff would respond to such a simple request from a customer for a damn hair dryer with I can;t help you . It's not like I ask for the brooklyn Bridge. My husband and I stayed here mid November 2008 for our Wedding Honeymoon. We spent months preparing and researching to pick just the right hotel, and we were fairly happy with our choice. Upon arriving on our shuttle from LAS, we couldn't help but notice the beauty of the pyramid, and the Criss Angel hummer out front. We walked into the hotel to the right to check in, and like many others was asked if why we were in vegas. TIMESHARE!!!! RUN RUN RUN. Anyone who does not have a hotel nametag, but seems very friendly is trouble! Tell them you're leaving that day, or simply ignore them all together. When we finally got away and over to check in it was too early. We were directed over to the bell stand where they greeted us, took our stuff and we were on our way to explore. Once we returned to checked in, we put down our $100 per night deposit, and upgraded our room to a spa suite for our last night. The lady at the desk was extreemely helpful and friendly. She gave us our free stuff like food and game credits and answered all of our questions with a smile. We walked around the corner to the elevator, up to the 6th floor, and all the way down the hall to our room. Upon first look i thought, wow, this is.... different; and what's that smell? The carpet was alittle drab, and the bathroom out dated with a funky smell. But the smell went away soon after, and the view of the front lawn was nice. The entertainment center was a little worn, but served it's purpose. There was no tub just an oversized glass shower. The room was mostly quiet even with the construction nearby and the bed was comfy. After unpacking we went to the Atrium level where all the action was. They had a McDonalds with a dollar menue, starbucks, Nathan's hot dogs, ice cream, gift shops, etc. The casino flor was loud as expected, but we didn't go there to gamble anyway. We registered to win Criss Angels corvette and went to explore Sin City. The first three nights went smoothly, the maid did a good job of cleaning the little mess we left.

Our fourth night we upgraded to the spa suite for an extra $50. We went to the front desk to get our new room keys, bell hop assisted in moving our luggage for us, and we were shocked when we entered our room. We expected a room like we just had, but with a big tub in the corner. What we got was a sitting area with entertainment center mini frig and window, and a half wall seperating the bed, tub and another entertainment center. By now we were wishing we had this room all along. The clover leaf tub had jets, and was elevated next to a second window overlooking the north/east area. A little strip, a little mountains. So beautiful! We ordered something special from room service and it was delivered promptly. We relaxed the rest of the night. When I woke up, the sun reflecting on the mountains was so perfect for a few pictures.

Before leaving we headed to the buffet to eat but got a little lost on the way. The food was good, the desserts were wonderful; so many choices. I left some stuff on the seat when we left, but I went right back and got it, they were expecting me. We checked out without waiting in much of a line, gave our bags back to bell hop for a few more hours before leaving.

A few other things we liked was the tram that ran from Mandalay Bay, to Luxor to Excalibur. The enclosed walkway between these three hotels, and all the window shopping.

The Luxor is part of a large chain constisting of about 10 Vegas hotels. When checking in they gave us a card we could use for anything from shopping to dining and it would be charged to our room instead of paying cash. Though some people might not like this, it kept us from carring alot of cash, and that was nice.

We would definatly stay here again, in fact we're thinking April might be nice.

I tried really hard to make this trip special, as it was our honeymoon vacation. I wanted to surprise my husband by calling ahead and paying to get our room upgraded, but whoever I talked told me that could be done at check-in and would not consider helping me with that request, and I would like to point out that I did say it was our honeymoon and I wanted to pay for an upgrade to surprise my husband. I did not call and try to schmooze some freebies, I was willing to pay!

When we finally got there, we were immediately stopped by a nicely dressed lady who asked us if we were married. I told her we were on our honeymoon, and she got all excited and told us to follow her so she could give us some free comps, upgrades, and show tickets. We walked right in to a timeshare trap.

When we finally got a way from that, we got into a long line and waited to check in. The lobby was loud and the lady at the check-in counter barely spoke English. I again tried to reqest to pay for an upgrade or possibly a suite. The lady said she could give us an upgrade (which we paid an additional $20 a night for). She grabbed a hotel map and showed us where our room was, which was in the West Tower. It doesn't sound like anything very special. She turned to get our room cards before we could ask further questions. Low and behold, the room card machine was broken. The lady told us the machine was down, she didn't know when it would come back up, and walked away. My husband and I didn't know if we were supposed to stay at the counter or what. A few minutes later, another lady came over to the counter, but she doesn't acknowledge us or even say anything, she just starts typing away at the computer, but I asked her what the difference was between our "upgraded room" and where we would have stayed. She wouldn't even look at us, kept typing away, and then eventually looked at the first lady as she pointed (or kind of jerked) her thumb at us as she walked away. Nice. So the first lady tells us in broken English something about the upgraded room being "much bigger" and nicer, and the regular room was right there in the pyramid. Again she cut us off and walked away. I was dissapointed, because to me half the fun of staying at the Luxor was the thought of staying in the pyramid, but I couldn't get anyone to tell us any differences or care if we were satisfied with the choice or not. When I was ASKING TO PAY for an upgrade, I had in mind at least spending an additional $100 a night for a suite. Imagine that, not being able to give away money in Vegas. But I guess when hotel staff doesn't care to give you the time of day, it's hard to convey what you are really looking for.

On the way to the elevators to get to our room, we were once again jumped by timeshare selling people, and the lady seemed annoyed that we had already been approached, like it was our fault.

So we finally get to our room on the 10th floor of the West Tower, and it was nice and clean, but nothing any more special than any other tower on the Strip. We had stayed at the Mirage before, and the rooms were pretty much the same, and I was still annoyed that I couldn't get the lady at the check-in counter to understand I wanted to pay for a significant upgrade.

We spent three nights at the Luxor, and the staff never seemed to care one way or the other about their guests. It didn't help that the Luxor is at the very end of the Strip, so unless you plan on staying on that end, plan on spending about $20 for a cab to get somewhere or try to get on the tram. So considering the location and the indifference the Luxor staff seems to have regarding their guests, there is really no incentive to stay at the Luxor.

we visited in october 2008 for daughter and her boyfriend 21st birthday after staying here the year before.the hotel offered a stay two nights get third free which was great. We asked for king sized beds but only queens were available in the pyramid, they offered to upgrade one room free but in the tower. We declined the offer wanting to stay next to my daughter and boyfriend, sort of a wise decision(see later). The hotel has changed since we were there last february 2007 new construction and a new club. The rooms were spacious but a little outdated, not to mention we had a problem with our shower that never got fixed. Which we contacted the hotel manager and he offered to move us but we wanted to stay near our kids so they comped our whole room for the stay. Now thats what you call making up for a bad situation, actually the only problem was the shower was not draining fast. I have stayed here three times and enjoy the hotel because of the places we often visit on south end of the strip. I never place reviews of anything but if your looking to save money on a room and don't mind a little outdated but comfortable place this is it. If you have kids stay at the excalibur its better suited for a family. And if you want to stay at a really nice hotel on strip we prefer ceasars palace or paris.

We stayed her for 2 nights on the 20th floor in the Pyramid looking east towards the Strip. The hotel check-in was good. They were going to put us on the 5th floor initially. The construction noise by the check-in was very loud and irritating.Finding the check-in was very trying at first It is such a maze to find where you are going and where the elevators are. Bad signage.

The rooms are worn and dated looking. The curtain valance had water stains everywhere on it. The only wastebasket looked filthy and no bag in it. The side wall air conditioning unit was effective near the unit itself and by the window but ineffective through out the room. The looks like it wasn't dusted in some time. The only light switch in the bathroom turned on the fan as well which was loud and annoying. The wallpaper in the bathroom was peeling at many places. The door had bubble marks on it like it had molded and was painted over. The sink drained slowy since it was clogged with something like hair and gunk I guess. The shower was good. On the 2nd night, the wastebasket disappeared and the sink got worse. You'd think that the sink would have been unclogged by the cleaning staff - lazy. We used a valet/dry cleaning bag for trash. The check-out was ok. The woman serving me was unfriendly and indifferent. Never asking me how my stay was etc. The room was definetly in need of a makeover. The main floor of the Casino/hotel is a mish-mash of this and that - like trying to catch up with the times.

We would not stay here again.

The tower rooms are much better than the pyramid rooms but are showing some wear.

There was some old graffiti on the wall outside the bathroom that they had tried to erase but didn't quite succeed in removing.

The casino is still undergoing some renovations. I was there in December 2006 and they were renovating then too. They have a looong way to go before they have all the Egyptian theme removed.

I seem to be allergic to something they use on the sheets. I'm not sure what it is but on all 3 stays here I wake up with a sore throat and scratchy voice.

I like the property otherwise but cannot stay here again because of my allergies.

We checked in on a Wednesday afternoon and we had no problem with the long lines or anything... I guess we checked in at a time that is normally not busy, so we just walked right up to the desk. They gave us a choice between a king size bed on the 5th floor and two queen size beds on the 24th floor. Needless to say, we took the later.

Positives:

The view of the mountains and the pool was very nice. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. My boyfriend accidentally left $100 lay on the bed when we left in the morning... it was there in the same exact spot when we returned. The room was always very clean and toiletries and towels were always kept in good supply. The pool is beautiful... it really doesn't matter if they aren't all open, we spent most of our time in the fountain pool. If you can, rent a cabana! There certainly weren't wanting for anything to do... We went to LAX, Liquidity and Flight, we had dinner in CatHouse and Tender. The food was excellent and the service was prompt. CatHouse had a really cool atmosphere and our waitress was fantastic. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet very much. LAX, Liquidity and Flight were awesome nightlife. The casino was just the right size and we found some really good tables with good minimums. The Spa was clean and calming, our treatments (TRUE Personalized Facial and Gentleman's Facial) were quite relaxing... very good aethetician!

Negatives:

The location was quite far Down-Strip, I would like to be closer to the action on my next visit. Even though we had a non-smoking room, it still smelled a bit like smoke. The Pyramid rooms, although clean and lovely, are starting to show their age. The tram does not stop at Luxor frequently, so may have to wait a while for it to arrive. Even though the spa was nice, it seemed almost like an afterthought in the overall plan of the resort... Like the planners said, "We made a fantastic resort here... S&^%&^%*T!!! We forget the Spa!!!" It was very basic. The pool was kind of loaded with kids, provided there isn't much more for them to do. (Personally, I believe if you're going to spend THAT much money to tak you kids on vacation, take them to Disney World.) There is quite a bit of construction going on, but this didn't bother me all that much, as it means it will be even better on our next visit.

Overall, I loved the resort and would consider staying there again!!!

What a mistake. Went here on my honeymoon of all places. We were greeted by a nice guy in a suit who was excited to hear we were on our honeymoon. We were thinking, alright! Maybe they are gonna give us some type of comp or upgrade since its a special occasion. After listening to 20 mins of this guys load of crap, we realize its a time share. That didnt stop for the 4 days we were there.

We then got to wait 2 hrs in line to get our room. We had a pyramid room, and were upgraded to the tower room, only because they were overbooked in the pyramid. The room was nothing special, and was very dirty. The bed was atrocious.

I was injured on a property adjacent to Luxor and I was treated poorly when I asked if there was someone that could do something about it. I fell on an excalator and my food was bleeding badly. I ended up finding a bathroom on my own, and it took about 20 mins to get the bleeding to stop and to clean myself off. I limped back to my room and security came to check it out. I was then told' I need to go buy some bandaids and gauze'

Are you serious?

What ever happen to customer service. What ever happened to treating your guests right. I mean, most places where I live would be bending over backwards and some to make me happy. I ended up hobbling to a casino that wasnt linked with Mirage/MGM and spending all my money there.

I will never go back to this place. No matter how good the deal is.

I sent them a letter and got a return call. They pretty much passed the buck as to what happened with me falling, stating it couldnt of happened on their property and now is going to have to be handled by Excalibur. So I am certain nothing will ever arise from it.

I am in my mid 20s and have been to Vegas once a year since I turned 21. I plan on making that a normal thing, and I will never stay there again. That is a fact. I will gladly donate to the other casinos.

Visited with a few friends back in March, and Luxor has become a new favorite of ours. Overall, this was a good trip -- stayed on a casino rate, and by the end of the stay had several charges that were taken off my bill by a casino host. Had a tower room, clean and basic, with a great view looking north on the strip. The casino itself is undergoing some renovations (some areas were curtained off), but this never caused us any problems.

We just got back from Las Vegas. The 1st night our bed was so bad my husband had a very hard time getting out of bed the next morning. They did change us to another room and the bed was not great but better only after we used all the bedding and asked for another blanket to sleep on. The bathroom shower in the grout and around the door especially at the base had black mold. It was gross. The constant knocking of the water pipes was annoying. The water pressure in the shower was awful. And another very very annoying thing was the people stationed in booths around the hotel bugging you constantly for free show tickets so you would listen to their sales pitch to buy into their resort.

I must say the staff at the front desk was VERY nice and did comp us dinner at the buffet which was ok We did have 2 wonderful meals at the Salsa Mexician resturant and the servers were awesome.

To get our business again it would take an apology and some effort to lure us back.

Dump.

It is a goon type atmosphere. That means there are black suited GOONS that do their best to sell you condo's or timeshares etc.. Sit for 5mins and get to see these shows for free. I also didn't like the overt Security guards by the pool. Extremely GOONish.

The buffet was about the level of Prison food. Clearly not worth the $20+ per person cost. The "what-ever-they-call-it" coffee shop is above average. Eat there instead of the buffet.

We were sold a room upgrade. The bed in our mid-suite level was less than good. The wife and I both woke up stiff.

This property has serious customer service issues. I will not stay there again.

Luxor is a formerly good hotel going downhill. I had stayed there twice in the '90s and found it to be quiet and comfortable, with a few service complaints but nothing major. The removal of the river ride and the talking camels at the entrance was a good thing, but the new lounges add nothing for a visitor who simply wants to gamble a little in peace and quiet.

In July, I booked a Pyramid Spa suite online and got a decent package during Labor Day week. With check-in 'not allowed until 3pm', I got there at 2:30, only to find a line of over 100 people. I have a bad back, made worse by the plane flights, and had to stand in line for over 40 minutes, shoving my luggage along. Although most check-in windows were open, several employees were trying to sell SOMETHING in the lobby when their efforts could have been better served behind the counter - or offering me a chair. When I finally got a key, it was for a room on the other side of the pyramid, and when I got to the room IT WAS OCCUPIED! I was advised to come back down to the desk, but the 'short' line I was directed to still took 15 minutes to change keys, and get a room which was only on the 4th floor (I had asked for a high floor to avoid noise).

When I got to this new room, the Internet cable was broken, the phone cable was pulled out of the wall (and broken), and the mattress felt like it was 100 years old. Over the course of four days, none of this was fixed, the cocktail table was never cleaned after eating in one night, and I noticed a thick layer of dust on the armoire. Fortunately the spa tub worked, but getting into it was a trial (you have to play hunchback to avoid the windows).

The casino minimums were too high to play there consistently, the steakhouse had mediocre food (although the service was good), and the spa was probably the best part of the trip. The final kick in the teeth was being solicited by a hoooker while waiting for my car from the valet - at 5 in the morning! - in clear view of the valet and a security guard.

A letter of complaint went unheeded for 4 weeks; a follow-up brought an exchange of e-mails and an offer for the next time I visit. I may use it; upgrades are rare and usually worth it - but take my advice. Stay at Paris, Mirage, or Mandalay - all have proven to be a better deal than this aging symbol at the end of the strip.

We requested a king size bed and no-smoking as well as the other couple. The check-in clerk did not say anything and gave us our rooms keys. When we got there they gave us a double (2) and smoking. When we went down there to inquire about the room she gave us a real attitude and then finally placed us in a King smoking room. After we complained we got to switch our rooms the next evening to a king non-smoking room. So much hassle just for what we requested. The hotel is quite boring compared to the others near but (New York) and the value is o.k. The rooms were very basic but the bathtubs were large and roomy. At check-out we again complained but it seemed that they did not care eventhough we said we will never be back...spend a few extra $$$ and stay at a different hotel. We will never go there again....

Stayed at the Luxor in early June 2007. We arrived around noon and had no problem checking in as the line went fast. Room was OK, nothing special, but it was clean and the shower had good water pressure. Hotel / Casino is starting to show its age and could use some updating. Pool was great and we had no problem finding a spot to get some sun. IMAX theater was fun and they have a giant arcade if you bring your kids. Overall a nice deal for the price we paid.

Good stay overall. My room on the second floor of the pyramid was OK but could use some updating. Same holds true for the hallways (they're supposedly renovating the rooms this year, but don't know when that will begin.) Service was excellent across the board. Food was good. There is some construction in the casino, but it didn't bother me. Slots were OK. Very good drink service in the casino. I was comped two of my five nights upon checkout. I would stay here again, but I may wait until the rooms get re-done...they could sure use it.

This was the third time my wife and I have been to Vegas. We thought we were getting a great deal. When we arrived, however, we were greeted with terrible customer service at check-in. The woman behind the counter told us that they had over-booked and our reserved room had been given to someone else. They suggested that we pay $100 extra/night to "upgrade" to a different room. Ridiculous. I demanded that they find us a comparable room at no charge. After leaving for 10-15 minutes to "talk to her boss", the woman came back and miraculously found a room for us. Oh yeah, this was also at 3:00 a.m. after our flight had been delayed due to bad weather. So, needless to say our vacation got off on the wrong foot.

What else....we were traveling with family and they experienced similar problems with Luxor's customer service. The rooms that we were finally placed in were horribly smelly (smoke). Their solution was to send someone up with a cheap-ass bottle of febreeze to try to mask the scent. That worked for about 10 seconds. The beds were not that great either. The bathroom was okay. The tub was cool. The view was a 5/10. But it was a 10/10 if you like parking lots.

The casino was very good and we did well. The buffet was awesome....a must-visit if you are staying at Luxor. Carrot Top is hilarious.

I guess my recommendation is that Luxor is a great place to visit to gamble or to take advantage of some other entertainment, but DO NOT stay here! We're going to pass on Luxor from here on out. I know that we're not the only ones who feel the same way.

At one time I would have told anyone to stay at the Luxor and I swore by it. After my latest visit in January 2007, I will never go back. I play roulette for about 8 hours a day $25 - $30 a hand which should generate a healthy comp right........Wrong. I went to the players club to see where I stood as far as a comp for my play and I was informed that according to their system I never played yet. I was directed to a casino host that had to launch an investigation into why my play wasn't tracked or if I even played. Pretty sad I had to bring him right to the tables I played at and have the staff verify my play. In the end I was comped and informed that the pit people that are supposed to submit the paperwork for tracking play somehow misplaced all of it>>>>>> HMMMM nice to know. As far as I'm concerned don't offer comps if you don't honor them.

I went in Nov and found the check-in lines to be way too long and slow, but worse yet; the staff wasn't friendly at all. Then when I went to check out of the hotel, the check-out line was long & slow, so I did the express ck out where the paper said that they would mail my receipt, but none came. After waiting two weeks, I called the hotel (again, not friendly) and they promised to email, but none came, so I had to call again and finally one came less than 1 hour later. I was disappointed in the hotel and will never stay again.

I stayed at this property in November of 2006, got a Jucuzzi suite. the bed wasold and worn, needed to be replaced. The room was dark. The casino was pretty good, I would not stay here again. The various restaurants were good, both in service and food quality.

A great location and amenities. We stayed here for a convention at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center and Sands/Venetian and LV Convention Center. The rooms are better than average, the BUFFET IS EXCELLENT in variety and quality (Pharoahs Pheast) the IMAX theatre is wonderful and the prices of rooms are Excellent among all of the 9 MGM-Mirage hotels on the strip (rate wise only Circus Circus and Excalibur are better). Great Stay and I wish I could have spent more time in the hotel as we stayed 4 nights and only one night was spent in the casino. My next visit, if possible, I would go to the luxor for pure enoyment at the Casino, Night Clubs (though Ra is closed to be converted to the new LALV night club) and Restaurants and shows... Fantasy I would like to see.

My 8th trip to the Luxor. They have at least added the rope-paths so check-in is a little less of a hassle. It is one of the few hotels on the strip where door-banging isn't a problem. If you need some quiet, I recommend it. The buffet is just so/so and the casino is tighter than my boss's wallet but it's better than Monte Carlo and Paris by a longshot!

Luxor is a nice Casino/Hotel. One down fall is where our room was, the room was so far from the elevators it took us a long time walk to it. The kids had a good time with all the games and fun areas. The food was really good and a great value! I would definitely recommend it to everyoone!

The worse slots in Vegas. I could not believe that the slots have a small limit on how much you can put in. What a disgrace/ I had to ask the workers. Some didn't even know until I told them.

Checked in on Thursday the 1st of June at about 6:00 P.M. Checkin was relatively painless and quick. We had a Pyramid Spa Suite so we could have a whirlpool tub and it was worth it. The room was spacious (albeit a little oddly shaped being in the corner of the pyramid) and had a good stand up shower and also a fridge. I had asked for a king size bed but they said the highest floor they could get us on with a non-smoking room and a king bed in a Pyramid Spa Suite was the 2nd floor, while we could go up to floor 15 if we wanted 2 double beds instead. We opted for the 2 double beds instead, no biggie.

The room was clean and the service was excellent and everyone was friendly and helpful. Even the other patrons seemed to be friendly and we didn't run across anyone who was rude. We had our 2 year old daughter with us and, while they immediately brought up a portable crib for her, the "mattress" was kind of hard and not very comfortable so she ended up sleeping in one of the double beds. Also no biggie.

Didn't have a chance to gamble at all as we were there for a weightlifting competition for my husband, so can't comment on the casino other than to say it looked nice and clean and didn't reek of smoke. I know I saw people smoking so they must have a decent filtration system to keep it from smelling too bad. My mother-in-law was there also and is allergic to cigarette smoke and even she didn't have too many problems.

Overall a very nice stay at the Luxor and would happily stay there again.

I LOVE this hotel. Always good price, nice pools, spa, buffet, rooms, location. It's quieter than most up the strip.Stayed four nights at Mandalay, tried the Monte Carlo as well(never again for either),four nights LUXOR,(never long enough). It's Like coming home,I'm so happy to be here I cry,it's comfortable and beautiful.(I must have been egyptian in another life?)I tell anyone who is Vegas bound to try the LUXOR.Location no problem as we drive down.Gambling anywhere was a little dry on wins, but Vegas was not built on winners! If the LUXOR had a fan club, I'd be #1,or close.Wait...I think i am...Friends call me the LUXOR QUEEN!P.S.Don't eat Aladdin Buffet.BAD very expensive not worth $60.

Somewhat disappointed. They kept at least 1 pool closed off each day due to lack of lifeguards. At $160.00 per night, I expect all of the pools to be staffed. The bed in the west tower was awful. When I complained, it was like "sorry". There are much nicer hotels on the strip for the money, I won't stay here again.

I'd have to say that I have mixed feelings about my stay at the luxor. First of all, the registration/check in line was outrageous (2-3 hr wait). Secondly, they assured us a non smoking upgraded room which was not the case. It was a smoke-smelling, east tower room which was just "ok". When we asked for face wash cloths they reported having none.

When we went to the spa one day we were sad to find out that they ran out of certain products (ie. sea salt) so they couldn't perform a # of treatment options. Plus, they offered no spa specials/poor selection. The staff were also not that helpful.

The location of the Luxor is a bit far away from the center of the strip but the trams help a bit (connect to mandalay bay or exalibur). The hotel was clean and really interesting to look at at night when the pyramid is all lit up. The breakfast buffet was good and comprable in price to most other buffets. May is really a great time of year to visit Vegas- perfect weather and not super crowded yet. Overall, the hotel was just "Ok" for the money but I would try a different hotel in the future whenever I might return.

I stayed at Luxor with 6 other guys for a bachelor party in May. We had a great time and really no bad experiences. The casino seemed a little busy at times, but was overall clean and satisfactory. I was more than disappointed in the breakfast buffett. I love scrambled eggs and they were far too runny! Rooms (Pyramid Deluxe) were nice - very clean and house keeping was very pleasant and thorough. Next trip is already booked for July 2007.

Beautiful building, wonderful buffet, nice room, interesting elevators. Also great service, with one glaring

exception.

That exception was check-in. There was a long line. It took about a half an hour to get up to the desk, but

about half of the stations there were closed. With 4000 employees, this is ridiculous. Why would they want

to make such a bad first impression by treating their guests with such contempt? I've never seen anything

like this.

I stayed at the Luxor from 3/5 - 3/9, 2006 for work. I came in on a Sunday at 8:20 AM and could not check in till 11:30. Then it took almost an hour to get through the check in line. I was put on the 12th floor of the pyramid, which rocked. The rooms were big, but there was no desk to setup to work from your laptop. And in order to use the internet access you had to sit on the bed in order to hook into the ethernet cord. It came from behind the tv. The bed was comfortable and the view from the window was awesome. When I tested out the shower, it took forever for the water to drain, so by the time I got out, it was like a pool and was almost flowing over the edge. The casino betting limits were a little high on the tables so I never approached to play. The buffet for dinner was a little expensive for what you got. There wasn't really anything to do being on the end of the strip unless you wanted to walk a ways. Being close the airport you could hear most the flights in and out, but you get used to it. Overall, I thought it was a good experience for the price that I paid.

An awesome hotel, had a really good time. Stayed on the 22nd floor of the pyramid and the view of the entertainment level from up there is fantastic. Everything here costs, but well worth the expense. It's easy to get lost at first, but after a couple of days you do get your bearings. The Pyramid Cafe is always good at anytime of the day or night.

I stayed at the Luxor end of January 2006 for a business meeting. I must comment on the service at this hotel because to tell you frankly, I was shocked. I've stayed here several years ago and had a great experience. This time was just a really bad experience... The service providers had to be throw backs... We had breakfast around 7am at the cafe. I am not much of a complainer but let me tell you... this was the worst service I ever received!!! The server was very slow, seemed that we were bothering her, practically threw our plates at us, didn't smile once and had a real bad attitude. We figured she was having a bad morning. Then we had cocktails in the lounge and that too was a disaster. My associate and I (both females) sat for a VERY long time waiting for a waitress... when our other associates, (males) joined us... the waitress came right over. Very nice to the gentlemen and practically snarled at us. I thought, maybe my imagination, until I leaned over and asked one of the gentlemen... who immediately agreed that service left much to be desired. I barely finished my question, he finished it for me.

Everything was too expensive and not worth the value. We went to the spa, they charged two of us over a thousand dollars for hair, manicure and pedicure and a mini facial. Rediculous! Then, I hear from a relative that they were offering $99.00 specials for manicure, pedicure and facials... They weren't offering that kind of information to us.

The staff was not very friendly at all... on the casino tables, in the restaurants, at the lounge... front desk staff was not bad.. but don't remember much after this experience. Won't go back there unless we hear there has been a change in management. DON'T PUT YOURSELF THROUGH IT!!!

I've now stayed twice at the Luxor. Both times were an awesome experience. Rooms are exceptionally clean and nicely furnished in the tower rooms. The food is wonderful in the resturants. Most of the time I ate at the Pyramid Cafe in the center of the casino, good food and price. The IMAX theater is incredible! Magnificent Desolation, narrated by Tom Hanks, is a MUST SEE! Shopping is excellent and bargains can be had here. Being able to just walk over to Mandelay Bay is a real plus. Can't wait to go back again!

We have just returned from our trip which ran from Christmas eve through to 30th Dec - (We being the Cole family Two Adults and three children 15, 14 and 9) We arrived at the Luxor at around Midnight 24th Dec (so just tipping into Christmas Eve) - I was expecting long check in queues due to other reviews on this site, no such problem - there was a problem with our booking - but this was a clerical error and was sorted out very quickly by the helpful person behind the desk - He then told us we would be very happy with the rooms he was going to give us )oh yeah I cynically thought! - Well we were VERY happy - we were on the 13th floor of the East tower and we were given two junior suites right opposite each other - now understand I am English even our best hotels would be hard pushed to match these rooms. The housekeeping was always very well done - The place was a joy our first stay after two previous stays at the Aladdin - No complaints and would love to stay again however I doubt we will be lucky enough to get those suites again.

Love this hotel. Have stayed there twice now and hope to return again this year. Although the rooms are looking a little dated now they are kept spotlessly clean. We found all the staff here to be very friendly and the cocktail waitresses probably the most efficient on the strip. The casino is just about the right size its not huge but its not tiny either although the slots are not particulary loose here!!. Overall i would recommend this hotel to anyone especially if your lokking for something a little different. Top class!!!!

Just got back from a Thurs. thru Monday stay at the Luxor. Arrived after midnight and waited 45 minutes to check in! Was given a room on the second floor (even though we had made our reservations 2 months in advance) right near the RA night club. Room was "a little tired." Stains on ceiling, carpet, and curtains. Bathroom was small with only a hand held shower nozzle. And unless you love the sound of music with loud bass playing until 3-4 am...DON'T STAY ON THE SECOND FLOOR. Complained that same day, and front desk upgraded us for free to a deluxe room on the 28th floor. Much Better! Had nice large bathroom and shower, and a wonderful view of Excalibur and strip facing North. Food was good at all the restraunts and the Buffet was good for breakfast - price was only $11.99 per person. Casino was OK, only played video slots, did not join players club. Good drink service when playing. Did not go to the pool, though it was open. Overall the staff was pleasant, and the stay good. Would stay there again.

We chose to stay here for our Honeymoon in November of 2005. Long chekcin lines, and the casino was very tight. Coctail service was ver slow, maybe seen a waitress once every hour and a half. We stayed in a Jacuzzi suite on the upper floor in the pyramyd wich was pretty cool. The bed was very hard, slow room service but the room was a decent size as well was the bathroom, just a little outdated. We will not stay here again unless we can get really good comps.

The stay at luxor was awsome!, except we went expecting to stay in a pyramid room and got put in a tower room. my wife really wanted to stay in a pyramid room. The food in the hotel, is absolutely great! the pyramid caf'e is very tasty, and the selection at the pharoas buffet is huge. I recomend staying at the Luxor, but make sure you reserve the room you want.

I've just come back from a week long stay in The Luxor.I found it absolutely fantastic.I thought it was definetly the most amazing hotel on the strip. From the moment i walked into the lobby,it wqas just WOW,awesome.I was in and out of every other hotel on the strip and none had that same impact.

The food wasnt bad either, the buffet wasnt top for breakfast,i thought everything was over cooked but the dinner buffet was good, lovely chinese in it.The pyramid cafe do a lovely sandwich you should check it out.

The hotel itself was spotless clean,Our room was kept clean everyday and there was never any dirth around the hotel at all.

The staff were very friendly and curtious at all times and they made my stay very enjoyable.

The slots were not friendly at all to me but to be honest i knew i wasn't coming home a millionaire.I pretty much broke even every night but still spent alot by the end of the week, but if you are going to complain about losing money well i'd sugeest don't go to the gambling capital of the world,go with the opinion that your coming home broke, you'll enjoy it more.

As for shopping for gifts go down the road in the opposite direction of the strip, theres a great outlet just a mile or so away with great value for money.

After my week there i will definetly go back in a few years.Really was depressing coming home,Can't wait to get back.I'd recommend this place to anyone.

Totally enjoyable experience. Stayed in a spa suite which was a nice 'perk' from your run-of-the-mill room, but had our ceiling started leaking. Luxor staff was apologetic and worked hard to get us in another room. Because they were booked they moved us to a ONE BEDROOM SUITE! for no extra charge. We lived like royaly for the rest of our stay. Definately coming back.

I booked a romm from 8/23- 8/26 midweek for $70 Per night, Checked in late and asked about a suite upgrade. Was given a junior 1 bedroom for another $50 a night. totaling $120 per weeknight to be hooked up like a pimp. True I left the a/c on high cool and it was never freezing but it was alright. If you want it cooler for all you idoits shut your drape. The sun is hot in the desert in the summer. We were in the west tower and it is a little walk to get around but you should expect to have to walk a 100 feet to get to a casino off your elevator at almost all of the mega resorts. Unfortunately kids are around at all these big resorts. Stay off the 2nd level and you will experience less of them. The pool is fine. Ate at the lunch buffet with the 2 for 1 deal, nothing great but worth it for a less expensive meal with the deal. For the money this place is well worth it, even if we were put in a regular room while not as great it would have been alright. If you've never been to Vegas this is a good place to start. If you don't mind walking to the tram outfront and then cross the street twice to the MGM tram( the mega tram they charge you for) you can go anywhere on the strip.

If you go to Vegas expect to spend money, soda, food, cabs, everything is expensive. You can get cheap show tickets at tickets 4 less on the same day up a few blocks from MGM of right above treasure island. Seats may not be so great but depending on the venue you may be able to upgrade with the ushers, we did and for another $40 G

Seats may not be so great but depending on the venue you may be able to upgrade with the ushers for a price. We did get a car for the first time and enjoyed it but it is not necessary. We went to the Hoover dam this time. A pleasant surprise if you like prime rib some shrimp and crab claws was the Caesars buffet. Not a lot of selection but the nicest setting, felt like an expensive dinner. Also this was our third and last trip to the Rio Seafood buffet. Not worth the price anymore for $35 per. Lobsters went from a few years ago being whole and small tails to now half tails. Shrimp was the worst I have seen a long time. Crab was great but save the cab fare and go to Mandalay Bay if you want crab and shrimp. Also at at the wynn buffet for lunch, Mussels were great shrimp was ok, Now that all these resorts are serving already peeled shrimp I did not find any shrimp with great flavor on this trip. We did see Fantasy, I would rec if you want to see titties. Get the half price tickets as there are no assigned seats just go early. If you really want girls go to the strip clubs. you can't compare a nude singing talent show to a nudie bar, If you want play from the girls go to Cheetas otherwise there are better looking girls elsewhere.

Also saw mystere when we moved to treasue island for the weekend and we bought those tickets ahead of time. Not worth $75 each.

DH and I stayed here for our wedding/honeymoon. We booked a regular room in hopes of getting upgraded. When we made our reservations we didn't have plans to get married at that time.

We arrived on a Sunday morning. Check in lines were very very long and we waited 30-40 minutes to check in. Oh well. We asked if they had any upgrades to a suite and they said no check back tomorrow. We said we'd be willing to pay extra but she still said no suites were available check back tomorrow. We had a room in the West tower which was very nice. I have no ideas why people complain about these rooms. They were great! Anyway, to make a long story short, the next day we were upgraded to a suite in the West tower on the 21 floor. We were told it would be an extra $50 a night. Hey its our Wedding/Honeymoon who cares, we'll take it! The room was gorgeous! You walked into a very large room with a table, four chairs, wet bar, fridge and a big chair and couch. Huge floor to ceiling window overlooking Excaliber. The next room was the bedroom, very tastefully done and big, lots of closets. Then the bathroom. HUGE!!! Toilet and sink in same area, wall seperated big soaking tub with jets and seperate shower. Very very nice! We recommend both rooms very much! Also, they never charged us the $50 a night for the upgrade when we checked out, so that was also a nice bonus. Oh and the other thing was that we requested a smoking room. When we went to change rooms they said only non-smoking suite available but no problem becasue they would bring us ash trays, etc. Now I don't like doing this but wanted a suite, wanted to smoke, the HOTEL employees said basically, who in the hell cares go ahead and smoke so yes we did smoke. The maids emptied our ash trays everyday and gave us new matches. It seemed like the whole floor was non-smoking but hey whatever. They said we could smoke!

The only thing I would complain about and only because it almost gave me a heart attack was the fact that I had to have my vale pressed. We took it to the service desk the Sunday we arrived. It would have to be sent out as they don't do dry cleaning on the premisis. Ok no big deal at all. We told them we were going to be moving rooms the next day so we would tell them where to have it delivered, or to check our information. Ok so its the day of my wedding and no vail in the room. We got very intoxicated the night before since it was our bachelor/bachelorette parties and didn't even think about it. So its 1030 in the am I am not getting married until 730pm, but my vail is no where to be found. Now mind you, when we switched rooms, we did let the service desk know this and they made a note. To make a long story short my vail was found in our old room thank god! Let me tell you though, for those 15 minutes I was flipping out. (I had a case of bridezilla, I know!)

I was not overly impressed with the pool. Just a basic pool. Lots of kids, (Kids don't belong in Vegas IMHO) crowded, but hey it's August I expect crowded, but they had one of the pools closed due to staff shortage. Unacceptable but hey what can I do aboit it?!

The only place we ate at the Luxor was at the coffee shop one night, it was very good as far as coffee shops go. Staff was nice.

We didn't play any table games here, seemed kind of dead every time we went to play. Slots were good. We were addicted to WOF machines. Could easily play for an hour with only $20 in the machine. Would definitly stay/play here again.

Only had one rude person at the valet. He was an A$$. Gave me a hard time because I pulled into the wrong lane, god forbid. What a d***. Otherwise valet staff was great and quick and efficient. Always had air conditioner on for us and radio on. Most always asked if we needed directions going anywhere. Very nice, and yes we tipped appropriately.

DH and I had reservations at the SPA the day of our wedding. We both agreed it was great! I had a facial, massage and sea salt scrub. The massage was a little rough for my liking but my fault as I did not say anything. The facial was my favorite. It was great! I also loved the showers and the fact that they each had a different scent to them. I chose mango so the soap, shampoo and conditioner was all mango. It was sweet! DH loved his massage and said it was just right. Would highly recommend the spa.

I also had my hair and make-up done the day of the wedding at the salon inside the Luxor. (can't remember its name.) It was very very expensive for an up-do, vail placement and make-up (over $400 including a very generous tip) but well worth it. I do have long hair and it took the girl over 2 and a half hours for everything. But even I am not that anal. Irregardless she was great and did a great job. Just longer than I expected! Would recommend salon also.

Overall great experience. Would return again and again!

Just came back from a 5 night stay at the Luxor. Although we didn't really want to stay on the South end of the strip, we couldn't pass up the room price we got from them on the internet. After reading dozens of comments we still couldn't make up our minds whether to stay in the pyramid or the tower rooms. Here's the answer folks. The first night we asked for and received a pyramid room. The room was rather shabby, faced the tower (no view), had a shower that dripped all night, noisy hallway and a blow dryer that blew only cold air. First thing the next morning we requested and were moved to an East Tower Room. That room had a toilet that also ran constantly but was much nicer and a decent value for the money. Neither room type had in room safes which was very disappointing. (They offer safe deposit boxes instead in the lobby area.)We ate at Luxor Steakhouse one night. It is pricey but the filets and service were excellent. We ate at the Pyramid Cafe every morning for breakfast. Great coffee, food and service at a decent price. We found the slots to be pretty tight although that comment applies to all of the strip hotels. Gamble off strip if you're looking for looser slots. The Luxor is a beautiful hotel but they need some TLC in the pyramid rooms, which were probably beautiful at one point. (Interesting furniture in rooms etc.) They also need to install in room safes. For the money we paid for 5 nights at the Luxor, we had a great trip and left satisfied.

We stayed here in July 2004 for my daughters Dance Competition. The Dance Co. had reserved a block of rooms for people attending the competition. The room was $69 a night and for that price I was pleasantly surprised when we got to our room. FANTASTIC! The pool was incredible!! We spent 2 days at the pool, our girls had a great time (age 6). I recommend staying at the Luxor.

My wife and I stayed at the Luxor for our anniversary and had a nice time. The Luxor is a nice casino with very tight slots and high minimum tables. We are novice gamblers and signed up for a Texas hold-em lesson and enjoyed that, until a vulture dropped in just as it went to a $1-$2 game for us learning how to play. As soon as she dropped out a guy jumped in and started playing wih us novices. It was iritating and a little intimidating. His cards were cold though and my wife took $15 from him before we left. The grounds are very confusing. It is not well marked as to how to get to the 2nd floor where many of the attractions are and we spent alot of the time trying to find our way around. We were dropped at the North entrance and were struggling with our bags and the bellman waited until I walked past him before he asked if I wanted some help!!! It was a long walk to the front desk with our bags. The Oasis spa rocks if you can get a chance to go, go early and enjoy the complimentary juices and fruit and use the facilities to shake off the previous day and get ready for the new one.

We just returned from a week at the Luxor the property is really cool. It was kept very clean and smoke free. We were on a very tight budget and could not eat in the Luxors resturaunts due to the high prices, I dont care what they say you can cook a damn good steak for less the 30 dollars. We gambled some in the casino moslty the penny slots which paid really well, but we could not afford the $15 min at the tables they did have cheaper minimums but they were at 7am when it was dead. We stayed in the west tower and the room was great, we did not have one complaint with the room the entire time we were there. Now lets talk about the complex in general. It was very clean but very expensive, spent a bunch of money on tips that were unnecessary and unearned, got charged a buck a phone call for local calls which we weren't told about till we checked out. This should give you a good veiw of what to expect. Tumbs up for cleanliness and condition. Thumbs down for not being as affordable as we would have liked.

I visited the Luxor from May 12 to May 18, 2005. This was my third trip to Las Vegas since 1996 and my 1st stay at the Luxor (1st visit was to MGM-11/1996 and 2nd was Paris-11/2002). My budget and my search had narrowed my selection down to the Luxor and TI. After reading the comments about Luxor & TI the deal breaker was the pool. I booked my room online receiving a $10 discount per night for doing so, the best deal after searching several travel web sites. I was a little concerned that I made a bad decision after reading some of the comments on here.

Overall I found the Luxor to be a very nice hotel. Check-in was fast and friendly despite my 11:30 AM arrival and the long lines at the front desk. A room was ready and I was allowed to check-in even though check-in was not until 3:00 PM. My request for a high floor with a good view was even honored. I stayed in the pyramid for all 6 nights on the 23rd floor. The room was very spacious with a view of the pool and mountains. The furnishings were comfortable and clean. The bathroom was large with a party-size shower stall (LOL) and plenty of very hot water. My only complaints about the room was it was in the opposite corner from the elevator, the air conditioning was a little weak and it was a hike to the pool.

Upon check-in, I received several coupons for various hotel amenities/attractions. The best being the 2 free passes to the spa (normally a $20 fee for guests) and a 10% off coupon for a massage. I went to the pools (yes there are 5 pools at the Luxor compared to 1 at TI) a couple of days, which was very nice. There were plenty of towels and chairs to be found in spite of how crowded it was and the hot weather.

Initially I would have ranked the casino as average with very tight slots except for the last day. I had about an hour or so to kill until my departure so I decided to hit the slots since I didn’t gamble as much as I thought I would. I played mostly Wheel of Fortune machines at all the casinos I visited while there. I started with a quarter machine and cashed out with $75. I moved to a dollar machine losing most of my $75 and decided to try another $ machine, I thought. After sliding in a $100 bill I realized it was a $5 machine, my initial thought was to immediately cash it out and move on. Then I thought what the heck its only money and I didn’t spend as much on gambling as I thought I would. After a few spins I got to spin the wheel and won $600. I still had a little time so I decided to play down to $500 and cash out. About 3 or 4 spins later I got a triple bar and 2 triple symbols, which made the pay out 9 times the normal. This 360 credit win required a hand pay out. The floor person arrived very quickly, however, the time it actually took to get my money was long. There was a malfunctioning printer that required them to go to another computer to print my W-2G. After about ½ hour I ended up with a hand written W-2G, my money and would miss my van to the airport. Not to shabby for what turned out to be a free trip to fabulous Las Vegas

My husband decided to fly me to Las Vegas as a surprise for our anniversary, but the exciting and wonderful trip quickly turned for the worst due to an incompetent sales clerk at Luxor. As part of the surprise, my husband wanted to rent out a cabana at the pool for the day. Bear in mind the price is outrageous, but we wanted to splurge for the special occasion. We were placed on a waiting list on Sunday and instructed to return by 10:15am on Monday to see if anyone cancelled. We were out in the pool area at 9am on Monday and checked in at the desk at 9:45. The sales clerk tells him "no cancellation, come back at 10:30. My husband checks in with her again at 9:55, 10:05, 10:15. At the third visit, he bought a swimming trunk and told by the same lady to return in 10 ten minutes. At his last return, the same lady tells him "oh, you should have been here sooner. Three people were standing around and I gave the cabana to them. According to my clock, you arrived past 10:30." I was furious when he reported the incident to me. I was more upset because he was so angry. This lady should have used common sense to realize that my husband's persistance indicated a strong desire for renting the cabana. How much clearer should he have been if he specifically told her that morning, "I definitely want the cabana should anything opens up." Our trip could have been more pleasant if this lady would only use better judgement. We didnt have watches on and there was no clock in the pool area. If he was late, it was only by a couple of minutes. Lesson to everyone, carry a watch with you when you go to the pool. However, I don't believe that I should worry about time when I am on vacation!! I rather stay at other hotels on the strip whose employees are more competent and the policy is geared towards making guests happy, not miserable.

While I agree with the last post that the Luxor is a little expensive lets face it, THEY ALL ARE! IF your a cheapskate, on a very tight budget, or if penny slots are your limit then STAY away from the LUXOR and most of the mega resorts.

My friends & I stayed May 19, 05. Check-in took about 12 minutes, not bad for a strip hotel. We stayed in a pyramid room and the front desk person let us have one near the an inclinator.

The room itself was very nice and clean. I especially liked the size of the bathroom.

My major complaint with this room was with the air conditioning. The a/c unit is positioned in a bad spot on the side of the wall, facing the table and chair in the room, completely missing the beds & the bathroom. Also, our particular unit hardly put out any air at all. We called maintenance, which responded within 10 minutes & they put in a new air filter. The air filter didn't work at all so I ended up going to Walmart and purchasing a large fan to use in the room. I had the curtains closed, the a/c on high and even waited 8 hours and the room still was not cold. I could not imagine this in July/August.

The maintenance person notified us that management is aware of the A/C problem and he said that they plan on re-positioning every a/c in the pyramid, but did not know when.

This hotel is a little confusing to navigate if you are a first time visitor. Luckily, the security guards were nice enough to let us up on the employee inclinator so that we didn't have to carry our luggage around the maze of slot machines any further.

I would definitely stay at the Luxor again, however I think I would rather have a tower room. I hear they are newer and a lot closer to the parking lot so I can get to my rental car quicker. The walk from the pyramid to the parking lot seems like a mini marathon & even though the pyramid rooms are closer to the casino, Luxor is not my choice casino to gamble in anyway.

Hi we went to vegas in may of 2005 and stayed at the luxor spa suite.

We went for our anniversary 5 years it was a spectacular view to the strip and it was just beautiful. yes it does take a little long walk to get to your room. we think it was worth it i will go back and stay there.

The room was clean and nice however there are no safes in any of the rooms and what they called a "queen" bed was a "full" in my room. This was disappointing to me. Bathrooms are small for 2 people.

If you stay in the actual pyramid part of the luxor, and in one of the lower levels you hear the annoying sound of slot machines all night. Not a very good place to stay at if you're trying to get some sleep. Otherwise it was alright.

Stayed at Luxor 4/4-4/7 in the West Tower. Room was immaculate and QUIET! Never heard a peep out of anyone. The west tower was quite a hike from the check in desk, but it was worth it! Pool area was nice...a great place to chill out after walking all day. Ate at the Pharoah's Pheast Buffet and the Pyramid Cafe...both average. Slots sucked...not one win in 3 days. Had decent luck at the Aladdin, Excalibur, Paris. All in all this is a great place to stay...just don't gamble there!

Took an extremely l-o-o-o-n-g time for check-in, but otherwise had a great stay at the Luxor. Hot tubs were not hot the first day I visited the pool area, but they were fixed the next day. La Salsa was OK-nothing exceptional, but dinner at the Luxor Steakhouse was delicious and charming.

The casino slots has some good payouts(look for the $1 Triple Cherry). West Tower room was comfortable and offered good view of pool and west Las Vegas.

Will come again.

Well what can I do but rate this place highly. We went to Mandalay to look around, very nice, the walkway/sopping mall from there to the Luxor is very nice and takes you into the mezzanine level in the Luxor. The rides in there are good value and fun.

We went onto the casino floor and played a couple of slots for some free drinks,no luck,so my wife put a few quarters into one of those 3 reel slots that you can win a car on.Could not lose so after 10 minutes we took out $17.50 and decided to cash it in,but we were tempted by a Supercherry machine, more drinks and $5 later we won the jackpot, yes the jackpot $500.00 on a 2c play!!!!

Don't belive me?I have the photo to prove it,so FANTASTIC is all I can say what are the odds on that? Go if only too see the inside of this place.Rooms are good and the whole place is good enough to make you not bother to go elsewhere shops casino and restaurants are good value

Stayed at the Luxor 22nd March to 27th March 2005.

Really enjoyed our stay there. The rooms were everything you could expect for the price and service was always good throughout the hotel - with the ocassional exception of cocktail service.

Check in and out were fine, though looked like it could be a real problem at times.

Location is great. A bit quieter than mid-strip though only a short walk away.

I really enjoyed my 5 day stay at the Luxor. I stayed in the West Tower and the room was really nice. Every bit the equal of the Monte Carlo which is where I usually stay. The bathroom was very nice and the housekeeping was excellent. Checked in at 5:30 pm on a Sunday and it took about 5 minutes. I paid $89 per night during spring break which I thought was a very good deal. The access to Excalibur and Mandalay Bay was quite good. The buffet is pretty good as was the coffee shop. The casino was okay I like the Monte Carlos a little better. I would definately stay there again.

Worst service in a casino I ever had. Drink girls wanted nothing to do with the lower dollar value tables. Dealers seemed bored and overworked. Breakfest buffet was the only thing worth while about the experience.

Went there to see the Blue Man show, in my opinion, not worth the money. Casino was okay, hit 1000 quarters on the WOF machine!

Truly enjoyed our stay. My wife, three year old and myself spent one night there. Was an experience to stay in a pyramid. The room was large compared to many that we have stayed in. The only problem we had was finding the right inclinator (elevator) to our floor.

We stayed here for one night on our last trip. We had a spa suite on the 25th floor. The view was wonderful and the cost was not very high. The staff here is very helpful with friendly bellmen, valets and front desk staff. The waitress we had in the Pyramis Cafe was very helpfuland friendly, especially with my wife who was not feeling well that evening.

The Pyramid Cafe was nice with very large portions for the money. The line on a Thursday evening was long.

Check in went quickly and was very smooth.

The property is starting to show some wear around the edges and could use a little tidying up.

The slots in the casino are very tight, the selection is quite large
