We stayed at the Rio Suites June 10-12. Upon check-in, I attempted to tip the clerk $20 while I asked for a complimentary room upgrade to a jacuzzi suite in the Masquerade Village Tower. The clerk offered to call Room Inventory and was not able to give me the requested room but did give me Room 1155 in the older, Ipanema Tower which was a corner room with panoramic views, floor to ceiling facing the strip north and the pool area west. The room was very clean but the coffee maker was missing from the room. Also, I miss the older, rounded unique couches that the Ipanema rooms used to have. The room was very quiet and the view was fabulous. Pool area closes very early at the Rio compared to other hotels, typically 5 p.m. which is a bummer. The one pool nearest the sandy beach was heated but the other pool was not and a third pool was closed for the duration of our stay. Pool area is chaotic and drinks at hotel bar are very expensive at $12.00 each. Still, we enjoyed this pool area twice during our stay. Rooms are a long hike from parking areas so be prepared for long walks. We did not eat at any of the restaurants as they were very expensive (Dinner buffet is $23.99 at Carnival World Buffet).

Just stayed at the Rio for a third time and had a good time. It is a fun place. The rooms are large (not really suites, despite the name) with plenty of space. The service at the hotel was excellent. The staff is very efficient and friendly. The casino was fun, with friendly dealers and supervisors, but the masseuses coming around looking to give massages while playing cards was annoying - another way for the casino to get your money while you are distracted. The casino is very loud and dark. The stakes were not too high ($5 tables could be found during the day and later at night (after 11:00 pm)), but the slots seemed to be much tighter than Harrahs and other properties. The food in the basic restaurants (Carnival Buffet and Sao Paolo Cafe) was ok, but the food in the better restaurants (Antonio's, Buzio's and Hamada) were excellent and well worth the cost. The shuttles to Harrahs, Bally's and Caesars run regularly so that the Rio's off-strip location did not require time consuming or expensive cab rides, and the Strip is within relatively easy walking distance from the Rio (at least for people who like to walk). I received a good deal for the room and I would definitely revisit the Rio.

Just my second stay at the Rio, the last maybe 6-7 years ago. I stayed at 2 hotels over my 6 day visit and this was my first stop on the trip. A little hassle at check-in - one of those we don't reserve particular room stories. Asked for a King non-smoking and they had a King smoking. My wife stepped into the conversation and was able to work out a King in a handicapped room. Maybe it was the room but this was stay was definitely a disappointment to me. No suite that is for sure. And to top it off for some reason - no coffee pot. Go figure. Gambling was unexciting with tight slots and $10 and up tables in abundance. Didn't gamble too much there, however, did have an unexpected 'hit' by some hookers while playing $1 slots. Definitely unwelcome and kind of sleazy. I mentioned this to a manager at check-out and though they were gracious I did not get the feeling that they cared very much. Would I stay gain - probably not. I was there on comps anyway. There are a lot of other exciting options in Vegas.

I have stayed at the Rio at least 8 times in the past three years and love comingcheck in staff, dealers and servers. But, I want to update some alarming changes. Fewer, if any, free shows, dancers and singers at the small stages and fewer staff members. I asked a ppit boss and she confirmed the cutbacks. I may have to try the other Harrah's properties on the strip.

This was my first time staying off-strip, and I had a great time. Good service, good food (albeit expensive), room was nice and big, etc. Didn't win much here -- did much better next door at Gold Coast. Rent a car and it's easy to get just about anywhere on/off strip. Would visit again.

Stayed in the Mascarade Tower, Room was large, clean, and had a great view of the strip. Show in the Sky was fun and several different versions. VooDoo was great! Flirt was nice too. The Chippendales show was fun!
Buffets were phenominal, high priced but well worth it in comparison to the others I have eaten at. I ate the Carnival Buffet for Breakfast and Dinner, did not do it for lunch so not sure about that. Also did the Seafood Buffet for dinner, was very good.
Hamadas was good, and Buzio's was also good but Gaylord India Restraunt was excellent and the atmosphere was wonderfully romantic.
I never won at slots which was all the gambling I did. Spent $30.00 over the week and only won $1.30

YOU NEED TO KNOW THIS BEFORE YOU BOOK AT THE RIO. I've stayed at the RIO at least a dozen times in the last ten years. It's not the only place I stay since I do Vegas about three times each year. I've always enjoyed the RIO. I've always got the room comps, some food comps, always had good stays.

Now this past stay one thing that has changed is the table minimums are through the roof. It's almost impossible to find a table with less than a $25 minimum bet. There still two or three such tables out there but the people are stacked up three and four deep waiting to play at them.

Look, don't get me wrong, I do make $40, $50, $75 bets, even $100 bets. But when the table is cold I cut back. I can't do that when the minimum is a $25. And if I'm shooting dice and I want to buy the board after the come out roll it's going to cost me $210 minimum when the table minimum is $25. See where I'm coming from.

My next concern was the restaurant prices. I would say prices have tripled at the hotel eatery's in the past two years. Breakfast is now a twenty dollar bill! What ever happened to the $2.99 breakfast steak and eggs?

I guess if I stay at the RIO again I'll have to plan on doing some eating & some gambling next door at the GOLD COAST where I can still get a meal at a decent price, and, more importantly, I can still find $5 and $10 tables.

So now I've been back from this last Vegas trip for about three weeks. Yesterday I decided to check-out the Harrahs website to review my Total Rewards offers. I've always figured the Total Rewards program was a decent, straight-forward, no host needed comp service for loyal Harrahs customers. What I saw I could not believe. Those bastardos are now only offering comped rooms on the Sunday thru Thursday. Belly-up the big bucks for those weekend dates. Waasssupp with that? I guess Harrahs isn't making enough money! You'd think with the $25 minimum tables and the h-u-g-e restaurant prices that the mighty Harrahs corporation could still offer a weekend room comp to their loyal customers but apparently this is not the case. Maybe Harrahs could change their slogan from "loyalty has its rewards" to "loyalty has its rewards....at a B-I-G-A-S-S P-R-I-C-E."

Stay wherever you want during your Vegas trip but before staying at the RIO or any other Harrahs property you might want to reconsider because everything I've wrote at the RIO holds true for all Harrahs casinos.

Stayed at the Rio for two nights, 03/04/07-03/06/07. Enjoyed the atmosphere, one big carnival as in Mardi Gras. The floats in the ceiling were spectacular. Entertainers on the floor were good also. The suites are spacious, 600 square feet. The view was great. Service, friendly, check in, slot attendents and house cleaning very good. Many places to dine are available. Great indoor music played. Would recommend this property for booking.

We had a really great visit to the Rio Casino.

What great service by the cocktail waitresses!! They are cordial, professional, efficient and, of course, beautiful. Their sign says they have the friendliest coctail waitresses in Las Vegas - and I agree.

One really nice touch is that each of the girls takes a turn doing a performance (singing, dancing, etc).

It's a short distance from the strip (accessible by shuttle from several other strip hotels) but well worth the trouble to go there.

We will definitely be back.

We visited this hotel in January of this year. I LOVE the Rio. I am a member of the Hararahs Total Rewards Program, so I got the room comp. Total Rewards has got to be the BEST Rewards Program in Vegas! The Rio has a great atmosphere, cocktail service, and I did pretty good in the casino. The rooms are nice and spacious, could use newer beds though. We stayed in the Masquerade tower. We ate at the Carnival Court Buffet Love the Breakfast, but was not too impressed with the dinner. Overall this is a great hotel and we will def. be back!!

This place is worth venturing off-Strip to check out. We caught the free shuttle from Bally’s (it’s also available from Harrah’s or Caesars Palace). Drink service in the casino was good, and we enjoyed the free aerial Masquerade show above the casino much more than we expected to. The Rio has a fun and exciting vibe. There are tons of lively lounges and restaurants, and the servers wear some of the sexiest and/or most attractive outfits of any we saw in Vegas.

We probably would not stay here, but only because the shuttle service is kind of sketchy. They run every hour, but when they fill up, anyone else trying to take the shuttle is out of luck until the next hour. We were the last ones on the shuttle to the Rio, and we saw several people after us turned away. When we were ready to leave, we waited 10 minutes and still didn’t get on the departing shuttle. After our second try an hour later was also unsuccessful, we finally cabbed back to the Strip.

The check-in was fast and friendly. I was upgraded to a suite which was an awesome room. However, both TV's were broken and had no signals. The casino is fun and friendly, though the tables tend to be pricey - dont expect to see anything for less than $20.

Did not stay here but wish I had! It is off the strip but not far considering the amount of walking in Vegas. Shuttles run from Harrahs, Ceasers and Paris. The most fun we had in Vegas was at the Rio. Don't miss the Masquerade Parade show. The Carnival World Buffet was worth it, we went for lunch and didn't need to eat again until breakfast. Use the $5.00 off coupon in the Best Read Guide and by-pass the automated payment machine. Next trip to Vegas we are without a doubt staying here.

Had a good stay here overall. Started out rocky as rooms (2) were not clean when we checked in. Gave us two different rooms but they were as far away as they could be from each other and still be on the same floor. Most of the employees were friendly and helpful. The casino follows the Harrahs tradition of jacking up the table game limits as soon as a few players get on the table. The Ronn Lucas show was great, and the dining ranged from good to fair, with the All-American Grille being the best, and the Carnival World Buffet being the worst.

Nice first stay at Rio. I usually stay on the Strip (Paris or Monte Carlo) but decided to give Rio a try. Nice folks. Good comps for reasonable play. Coffee shop is ok. Dealers are very nice but seem to be luckier for Mr. Rio than me. Good access to other Harrahs properties. I'll probably come back. Great value for room. Quiet and clean. Nice visit if you don't want to hang on the Strip. If you want the LV Strip Vacation, you really are better off staying there.

The room was nice but it was not a suite. I could have waited a few hours for a suite and should have. Instead I got a bigger than normal room with a couch facing the TV. Near the bed was a creepy peephole into the shower.

The casino was noisy with the parades and dancers. The machines were tighter than a ....(you know the joke). I wanted to give them some play because I was comped for 2 nights and got a cheap rate on the other 2 nights.

It is too far from the strip. The shuttle bus to Harrah's is crowded in the morning. The shuttles from the airport did not want to go to Rio, I had to wait for 5 different shuttles. I walked from the strip once because it did not look so far, but it was a mistake.

The seafood buffet is very expensive (I think it was $36) The "lobster tail"
they had looked like grubs. They were white and the size of a quarter.

The rooms in the Rio are nice and the view is just amazing. The one thing I enjoyed was getting up early and looking out into the mountains. I stayed at the Rio because I was a free trip to Vegas through Harrahs Total Rewards program, which was exciting. We had the choice of staying at Harrahs or Rio, and I regret it to this day. First, the casino is just awful. It's outdated, tacky, and the machines are old and tight. Second, it's too far off the strip. Everytime we wanted to go to the strip we had to take the connection bus or a cab. It just didn't feel like were in "Vegas." Please consider this before you book a room here. If you must stay here, I really recommend renting a car. I will never go to Vegas again without getting one. Finally, the Rio had these tacky dancers jump up in random places around the casino and do these ridiculous solo routines. I mean, they made me laugh, but it had the effect of being in a really bad strip club. My stay at the Rio was free and I would never go back. I leave for Vegas in 2 weeks and I'm staying at the Bellagio. I hope it's a good one!

i did not stay at the rio, but i did gamble here and we saw tony and tinas wedding. the show was awesome even though some lady that attended the show got really drunk and showed her butt by throwing ranch dressing all over one of the preformers. (she was at our table so i watched it all unfold, but i dont believe anyone else realized she wasnt part of the show) they all stayed in character through the whole thing. even with all that the show was awesome!!!! and when gambling here dont miss the mardi gras floats going around a track on the ceiling!!! totally cool

Had 5 nights comped for my daughter and me. Had room in Ipanema tower. Asked for upgrade and I have a Diamond card but was told that since the WSOP was in town that there were not any upgrades available. Loved the food, pool and shopping. We both thought the room decor was boring. All done in beige. But the room was quite large and we had a lot of room to navigate and not get in each other's way, even after her huband joined us for two days. Nice dressing area, but the actual bath was really small. Had shower/tub, toilet and one lavatory. Fridge was in closet area. Closet not much bigger, if any, than at other casino/hotels. View was okay of the back of Caesars and Bellagio but nothing to rave about. All in all a good stay. Alway win at Rio's dollar machines and this time won quite a bit on quarter machines and the tables. Some of the best entertainment is here, also, with the Scintas, Ron Lucas, Penn & Teller and a lot of clubs to go to. The Voodoo Lounge is a place everyone should go at least once. The view is amazing. Food at the buffets is good, Antonio's is excellent, Toscan Deli is good value and decent food. Will definitely be back as we get rooms comped here and at Harrah's.

I booked my room nine months in advance. When i got there, they told me they had no smoking rooms. After complaing to 3 people, and 2 hours later, i finally got my smoking room. Nothing fancy. The rooms are too big with a lot of empty space. Both me and my wife got a rash from the towels. If you get a free room, or 29 dollar rate, go. Other than that, its not worth it.

By far the worst place to stay. Upon arrival as an "invited guest" I was assigned a room in the I.P. tower. The rugs were torn, and had burn holes in them, the bed covers were filthy. I complained to y host that I needed better room. The host showed me two dirter and broken down rooms. In other words I was conned to think I had a good room. Then I was told I had the best room available. Note I checked in on a tues., and the maids told me penty of etter rooms were available and showed them to me. The maid service was great.I wet to the Platinum check inline andI hear them assign etter rooms that I was told were unavailable. I was lied to.
I made up my mind to gamble elsewhere with my $10,000. bankroll. I had a couple meals at the Rio and they were just average and way too overpriced. I gambled at the Beliago, Wynns, and the Golden Palace and I won much more than I wagered. The Rio has tight slots, and the table games are not friendly.
Also please be advised that the Rio is to far from the trip, and taxi's will cost a extra $25. per day and it adds up.Note I was compted 5 of the 7 days I stayed there and I would have rather paid a rack rate somewhere else. One goes to a casino and hotel on vacation and expects to stay in a sanitary room. They do advertise "luxury rooms". They lied to me and wasted my time . Avoid the Rio at all costs. A vacation should be a good experience.

Stayed here in mid-May. Waited until the last minute and booked this place as a Hot Deal for only $80 a night which is an incredible deal. Rooms are huge. I know that they technically aren't suites but they are gargantuan(by my standards anyway). Stayed in the Ipanema tower which is the shorter of the two. For the guy complaining about the cost of taxis, the hotel has a FREE shuttle which runs to Harrahs every 15 minutes starting at 10:00 AM. I had no problem getting around for free. I didn't gamble too much there. I got there on a Monday night and the place was dead. They must have a rule against dropping BJ table limits below $15 a hand no matter what the time of day or how few people are playing. Slots seemed pretty tight although I didn't miss breaking even by too much. To summarize; nice big rooms that can be had for less that $100 a night(I have seen them for $59 a night). Good visit.

I have stayed at the Rio repeatedly over the last 5 years. Since this hotel is owned by Harrah's, I can always get a comped room, even on week-ends. Many of the people who have listed negative ratings here indicate that they were staying in the Ipanema Tower. This is the OLD tower. I always ask for the Masquerade tower, even though it is farther from the pools. I have never had a bad room here. And even though the prices at the Carnival Buffet are a bit steep, the food is great, and can you can use any comp value you earn playing to pay for your meals.
I have never had any trouble getting around Vegas by free shuttle, either. Anyone who chooses to do a little investigation should be able to find the same extensive listing of these free shuttles that I have! If you want to get away from the Strip, say to Henderson or the various "locals" casinos will need other transportation, but a short walk across the street to the Gold Coast will give access to a shuttle to the Orleans or Barbary Coast(south of Harrah's, if your Strip destination is nearer to Bally's.

I have stayed at the Rio on 3 occassions, most recently in May of 2005. The rooms are large and although not nearly as posh as the high end casinos they are definately comfortable. Love the fact that all the rooms have small fridges. Masquerade Tower rooms are definately nicer than the Impanema tower and more conveniently accessed as well. I have found the video poker machines to be profitable and surprisingly I won a total of $1000 on a nickel slot and was not betting maximum bets and hit on it for several hundred at several different times. If you are a wine drinker, the Wine Cellar is not to be missed, it is in the Masquerade Village and has a variety of flights to offer. Also, the Voodoo lounge is a great place to have a drink at sunset.

This year I talked my husband into a stay at The Rio...and I have to say it was very enjoyable. The rooms have all been redone since our last stay...they had been looking very dated, but now are very nice! The larger TV is a plus also. I had some great luck on penny slots...made 300.00 on 1st push and that is a nice way to start. We saw The Scintas, a good family show, and took advantage of the free shuttle to Harrahs...lost there! We will be back next year.

I love the rooms but that's about it. The casino always has high limits and forget about comps. Harrahs corp. only takes care of the high rollers. I am a $10 bettor and after 4 days of playing they gave me a $7 F&B credit. They can keep it.

Well I was comped 2 nights and I paid for a third and took my girl and a buddy of mine . The rooms were big and I loved the view from Ceasars down almost to Fremont . I didn't like the placement of the tv but other then that it was great in the room . I had a problem with the gambling tho due to it being during the week and the tables were still about 25 dollars I mean a weekend I could see but most are about 15 to 10 dollars and I lose about 5 to 10 grand when I go which is about every other month . The buffet is kinda overpriced now also and the wait is really bad also . But all in all a good time .

stayed for 5 nights, two of which were comped. requested strip view, ipenema tower was assigned view of palms, gold coast and mountains due to late check-in on thursday night from the front desk manager. room was okay, poor view, large room, problem with hot water on three occasions, minor safe problem and five days of smelling breakfast buffet being prepared. called front desk and quickly solved safe problem, offered to switch rooms after two days, but to unpack and pack again, was not worth it. table minimums ridiculously high, $50 minimum on pai-gow on saturday night, other tables also high. great bar service from jamie at shutters. you can keep the bevertainers, let them concentrate on drink service. saw the scintas, which was the highlight of the stay at the rio. great show and use 2 for 1, for $60 a very good, entertaining family. enjoyed playing video roulette. also ate at voodo, food okay, view much better from the stratosphere. great valet service, all employees there were great, courteous, polite and always offered directions. working girls on monday morning about 8am in the hallway right by starbucks. come on now isn't this a little much. two sightings in the hallway early morning. rooms at the mandalay bay and venetian are much better.

3rd stay in last 10 months, finally got a room with pretty good strip and pool view 1313 in Impana Tower- very fast checkin at 2:30 on a Sunday. Drink service in casino was ok to good, all staff I met were very nice and appreciative of tips
Room- has been remodeled but not too recently- was clean but could use a thorough cleaning but then again was a smoking room, was not impressed when a pile of towels and bag of beer bottles were left in hall across from my room from 10 at night until 10 in the morning
Ate at Voodoo- pricey but pretty good food, service , and what a view!
Casino - not a good selection of slots-hot new slots areas- some of them have been out for almost a year??? A question I would have for Rio (and many other casino's- why do you have $25 minimum bj tables when the dealer sits there waiting -why not more 10's and fives so people will actually play? We stopped at Orleans on the way out of town and was blown away by what they have for slots, the video roulette at Rio is great idea !
If you want free rooms- Rio and Harrahs give them away like crazy but their comps really add up slow- the Connection card at Paris/Ballys/Cesears/Flamingo is far superior for quick comps and cash back!

Of all the places I've stayed in Vegas, this really is one of the best. The Rio is such an upbeat, fun place to be, and the people really are friendly. A lot of casinos cater to the higher-end people but the Rio treats everyone equal. The rooms are huge (even though somewhat pricey if you aren't a gambler) and the food is great. The buffet has such a huge selection of tons of different foods, even a picky eater can find something here. I've stayed here the past three times I've visited Vegas and are staying there again this year.

My mom and I stayed at the Rio for 5 nights (July 3, 2004 - July 8, 2004) and had a great time. Our room was in the Ipanema tower (Room 449). The room was very nice and had 2 queen size beds, 2 sinks, fridge, a mini bar and a couch. From inside the room we had a pretty good view of the strip and the pool. All the employees were great and we didn't have any problems.

The casino is very nice and the cocktail service is pretty good. If you want to play table games at a cheap price, this isn't the place for you. Lower minimum table games are plentyful at the Coast and Station casinos.

The Masquerade Show in the Sky was a nice break from gambling. This is a free show in the Masquerade Village and there are several shows everyday.

My mom and I ate at the World Carival Buffet and Bamboleo Mexican Restaurant. The food was very good and we would eat at both places again.

If Harrah's sends us offers for discounted or free rooms we will stay there again.

Arrived Tuesday 7/27. Check in went quick. Has two free nights and added a third. This was my third time here. Room was on the 12th floor of the Impanena Tower. Not bad, older room but still decent. Shuttle to harrahs works out great doing the day. Can get a bit crowded at night. Atmosphere at Rio is always upbeat and fun. Ate at Bamboleos and saw Ron Lucus during this trip. Good mexican restaurant. Ron Lucus is very funny, 2nd time we have seemn himStill have the bevertainers, masquerade in the sky always fun. Gambling turned out to be very lucky on this trip. Won on nickel slots. Check out went quick used reward credits to pay for third night. Planning to return trip for Jan 2005

Stayed at RIO 7/22-7/25...The room in the masquerade tower not as nice as the Ipanema tower we stayed in last time. The rooms were similiar, however, obviously aged in masquerade tower--good view though! Got even with that $5.00 "Top Dollar" machine in the high-limit slot area though, paid me back all the money I dumped into it on last day! I like the new "video roulette" game they have now, no more reaching across 5 other drunk players on the table..The RIO is probably best hotel to get away from the crowds in Vegas, almost all the people there are the guests, not the Rockport-walkers...Thanks RIO for comp'ing my room again!!!

I have stayes at the Rio several times in the past and my stays rated #1 all the way. This last visit in July, 2004 was not as well. When we reached our room it was covered in white dust like some repairs had been done and no one cleaned up after themselves. We called the front desk and they sent someone right up. but it should not have been given to us in that condition. Also the rewards center gave us wrong information 3 times. We were told to get VIP to Ron Lucas we just had to show our Plat. Card, so we left the regular line to go to the VIP line and was told that we had to pay full price to get VIP and was told to go to the back of the regular line again when we was towards the front of the line. We was also told that with our Plat. rewards card we could get Chippendale tickets 50% off. That was not correct either. THe Box Office attendent said that the rewards center always gives wrong information and the are a bunch of morons. I will stay at the Rio again. I just want the service I know you are capable of. We often refer the RIO to our family and friends. Please come back to the old RIO service. Sincerily, Terry

We LOVE the Rio. We stayed on the 27th floor of the
Masquerade Tower. Our room overlooked the four pools,
but we could see so much of the city. We could see
downtown, the Stratosphere to the Mirage, the valley
and the mountain ranges.

The room was absolutely perfect! The furniture
was very elegant and comfortable. We loved having
two sinks, thinking we could ice one down for our
beers, but the refrigerator served that purpose.

Everything was very clean. The maid service was
great.

I was in the Masquerade in the sky parade. Be warned,
they dress you in a velvet cap and cape to cover you
up. I had put on a very nice dress and did my hair, etc
but they want that all covered up. And, no cameras are
allowed in the parade, so give your camara to your
spouse or family. The young people working in this
parade and in the dances on stage are very vibrant and alive.
They love their work, and it shows. The young man working
the helium ballon float was especially friendly to all
the participants. He chatted and took interest in
each person, asking "where are you from?", "where
are you staying?", "are you having a good vacation?", etc.

The casino was fun. I won, lost, won, lost. You know
how slot machines are. At least I had a lot of fun
winning on several occasions.

The Total Rewards booth was VERY BAD! Someone else already
mentioned this. First we had a problem trying to
cash out our credits. I went to the supervisor, Susie C.
with a survey form and my complaint. Maybe I didn't
present myself well, but she was horrible. Bottom line,
she called me back the next day and let me know there
was nothing she could do unless she had a video tape
of us at the Total Rewards booth. Her only interest was
to reprimand an employee. No customer service approach.
From there, we decided to not go near the Total Rewards
booth, and that we would use our reward credit later
at Harrah's. But, the front desk staff asked us upon
departure if we wish to apply the reward credit to our
bill, for which we were grateful.

Our check in and check out was prompt. The staff at the
front desk made us feel welcomed.

I enjoyed the beverage servers and their entertainment.
We recognized one server who had spoken to us kindly last
year. She had said, "come back and stay at the Rio.
Every room is a suite." She was so nice last year, that
we did return. She was a tall, slender blond who wore
a cute long ponytail. I would run to watch an entertainer
and I guess I was lucky that no one stole my money from
my slot machine while I was running off to pay attention
to the music.

Regarding the restaurants, Bamboleo was great! I would
recommend that they play Spanish music, like the Gipsy King
song they use in their advertisement. The price was
good and the food and ambience was great. We had several
meals at the Toscano's deli. All were good.

We left the Rio and proceded to the Imperial Palace, then
the Riviera and then the Paris, Paris. Rio was a perfect
beginning to our wedding anniversary vacation. Thank you
Rio, you are awesome.

Great deal on rooms. Guest service at check in was superior. They upgraged our room unexpectedly. Down hill from there. Casino was blah. There are two shops that stay open late. One shop is open 24-hours a day. Otherwise, other stores open late. Pool area was nice but, the bartender was rushed and pawned us off to his coworker when my husband asked a question. There was a power outage the last night we were there. I should specify. There was a power outage to the rooms of the hotel. Heaven forbid the casino should not have power. For those who are curious as to why I was in the room and would know the power went out---It was 4am(an early night) and I was packing to leave. :) Also experienced a night without water. They did, however, give us advanced notice.
Last but not least, the buffet was a disappointment. We used our comp dollars for the lunch buffet. Dry, tasteless, poor service, over all blah. Would not pay full price for. Overall, would not stay here again. I prefer NYNY.

I arrived at 7:00 on a Monday evening. There was not much of a line and the check in went quickly. I had never stayed at the Rio before and like nearly all of the hotels out here you have to wad through the Casino to get to the elevator. The complicating factor was that my room was in the Masquerade Tower and the casino show was going on when I walked in so there were a lot of people watching the show and blocking the walkways. But my bags arrived five minutes after I called.
The staff was nice. The room was clean. I was only on the seventh floor, so while I could see part of the Vegas strip skyline, I couldn't see the grounds or the pool around the Rio because of the way the roof extends out.
The pools are nice (there are 4) and the pool bars are easy to get to. The serving girls are wearing little see through skirts with thongs underneath. 4 beers in a bucket for $15.00 was the going rate if you went to the bar yourself.
I walked to the strip four times during my stay. It takes about 15 to 20 minutes if you keep moving. This was in late July so not many people were walking, most waited for the shuttle. The shuttle service to and from Harrah's is slow with a lot of peole waiting to board and not enough capacity at the busy times. The walk is a pain and the location may be the biggest drawback of staying here if you like to people watch on the strip.
The slots are notoriously tight at the Rio - and Harrah's tto as far as that goes. You can be pretty sure you are going to lose money playing the slots if you play enough, but the money doesn't last as long here. If you want to lose your money more slowly - maybe even win a few bucks, the Gold Coast across the street is better for slots play.
There are no low end limit table games here - I guess they are trying to keep out the riff-raff.
I heard a couple of people told me that the Rio isn't what it used to be since Harrah's took over - and a friend of mine just told me that Harrah's bought Ceasar's. If they keep going MGM and Harrah's will own all of the Casinos.
The buffet here is very good, BUT the lines are long and so is the wait to get in - and I wasn't even there over a week end. And the prices are not near as good for dinner's in Vegas as they used to be (Corporate take-over has many conseqences).
All things considered I had a good visit. I would probably stay here again, though I'll probably go to another casino on the strip the next time - maybe even downtown.

Had our second stay at the Rio but first since Harrahs took it over. The rooms are still great and we had a nice view of the strip from the Ipanema tower. The maid service was very good, room was always clean, towels and linens done, etc.

Harrahs has tightened the purse strings on the Rio in little spots though. The pool is still good but not fantastic like it used to be. The coffee makers in the room are gone but at least the fridge still remains. The Masqurade performers don't seem to be of the same caliber anymore but the cocktail waitresses sure are. They are going for a much more adult atmosphere which is a good thing in my opinion. All in all, a great deal on great roomsin a fun but kind of tight casino.

Ok. The room was probably one of the nicest I've had so far in Vegas. And the buffets are wonderful here! Aside from that, I would definately NOT stay here again. The off strip location was more inconvenient than I had assumed it would be.... the whole shuttle to harrahs is a hassle. Service here leaves a HUGE space for improvement as I have never been treated so poorly in Vegas. The slots were tight, comps were crazy, I had steak and eggs in their 24 hr cafe, sao paulo. Did not expect much at 1 am, but let me tell u it was UNEDIBLE and I asked them to take it off my bill. Tasted like charred rancid meat. The pool was nice. Never too crowded. Lovely pool, actually. The Club Rio was very unimpressive and drinks were high. The new theme they have with the dancers hopping up on slot machines every now and then for a little song and dance looked sleazy rather than appealing, since every one I saw doing it looked horribly underfed, bright white and as if on a 3 day crack binge...... Guess I really didn't like this place much.... lacks in class.

I love the Rio and always visit when I'm in town, but it was my first time staying here. GREAT facility! Check-in was a breeze but a bit noisy due to the renovation in the lobby (which I'm sure will be fantastic when completed) and I was thrilled to get a room on the 30th floor in the Masquerade tower. Fantastic room with good bed, large TV, frig, and a fabulous view. This place has everything from great restaurants, bars, clubs, buffets, swimming pools, etc. You could stay here for 3-4 days and never leave and be very entertained.

Had a terrible situation happen to me this past April 2004. Coming out of the shower the door of the room opened and two small children had come into the room. The management of the Rio Hotel had given my Key to my room to another family. There I was out of the shower in all my glory and these poor kids had to see it all. Kids and mom ran out of the room as I began to yell get out. Management apologized for there mistake, but it seemed strange to me that they gave my room key to someone else. If I was not there and they stole all my money and other thinks of value what could I do. They said a Police report would have to be filed. Please before entering a room at the Rio Hotel Knock on the door to make sure It is vacant. They comped me two diners for my inconvience. Those poor kids.

Another stay at the Rio from March 23rd through March 26th. If you've never been, you are missing out! This is by far my favorite place to stay in Vegas. The smallest rooms are 600 square feet and the value is unbeatable. For this stay, we used offer I received in the mail for $49/night the first two nights and free the third night. I am definitely NOT a high roller by any means as I always bet the minimum. Finished the trip ahead enough at the casino to pay all my expenses during the week. Casino minimums can get kind of high at night time, but I can't blame them because this casino is ALWAYS packed. To avoid the higher minimums my friends and I would take the free shuttle to Harrah's. Harrah's has lower minimums than Rio and both casinos use the same players card. Harrah's also has the "Party Pit," where dealers interact with the players. It's a lot of fun -- both places are really great.

Back to the Rio -- If you are in Vegas on a Thursday, Friday, or Saturday night, you can go play at the 21-pit near the new beach club, "Bikini's." All the dealers wear bikinis but the tables don't open until 11pm. Very smart marketing move by the Rio since it's hard to concentrate... (I haven't played at this particular pit for this reason, but it sure looks like a lot of fun).

Buffet has definitely improved -- we ate breakfast there every day and it was a bargain. You can usually get coupons for 2-for-1 or 50% off the buffet at the players club.

A/C didn't work when we got to the room, made a call to the front desk and someone was there within 5 minutes. When we found out the couch was not a pull-out, we called the front desk again and they brought us a roll-away within 5 minutes and didn't add any charges to the bill.

At check out, the front desk told me that they decided to "comp" us 27 CENTS off what we were expecting to pay. That struck me funny -- why bother? The rate they gave us was really great. Four guys split a $115.00 hotel bill over four days/three nights. Can't beat that!

MY FAVORITE HOTEL IN VEGAS!!! I stayed here for my 21st birthday and it was a blast! All the employees that I came into contact with here were friendly and helpful. My sister and I received several VIP passes to different clubs around Vegas and free food and drinks from staff when they found out it was my 21st! The lady at the club booth made my birthday at midnight! She was so excited for me and gave me several free beads! I felt very special! Girls, Chippendales is wonderful! My sister told one of the ushers it was my 21st birthday and during one of the songs I was pulled on stage and got to dance with them! Too much fun! The Voodoo club was very beautiful with a gorgeous view from their huge balcony. I recommend this hotel to the highest. Will stay here again!

Visited LV and stayed at the Rio January 28-30th for the world series of poker. The rooms in the Ipanema tower are fantastic as they've been recently remodeled. Eventhough we checked in after midnight on the 28th, we were able to get strip view rooms for ourselves and another couple traveling with us because we are Diamond members. The service and food while during our stay were fantastic. Slots were definitely looser than our last visit.

Stayed at the Rio on the final two nights of my most recent trip (12/21/03-12/23/03). Even with this being a "slow" time in Vegas, I was still shocked at the $29/nt. rate I got on i4vegas.com! I got a room in the Masquarade Tower, and I'd have to say the Rio's "standard" rooms are absolutely the best standard rooms I've ever stayed in. They're not exactly suites like the name of the hotel implies, but they are very big with many amenities! Big TV, couch, table, chairs, two beds, fridge, iron, iron board, separate sink and toilet/shower area...and there was a little window in the shower that let's you look into the room....and vice versa! (I'm still trying to figure that out!).

The check-in line was very long....but moved extremely fast for its length. I never encountered a bad experience with a Rio staff member at anytime!

I'm usually a frugal low-roller, so I did not gamble or eat here. Instead I walked next door to the Gold Coast to eat and gamble, since the food values and blackjack opportunities are better there. It's about a 5 to 10 minute walk. Also, the Palms is another good property within walking distance.

The location is off-strip, but there is a free shuttle back and forth to Harrah's on the Strip. Also, if you walk to the Gold Coast, they have free shuttles to Barbary Coast and Orleans! All of these shuttles saved me a ton on cab fare!

If I didn't get another fantastic deal, I probably wouldn't stay here again since I'm a pretty low-roller! However, that doesn't stop me from giving the Rio a thumbs-up for great rooms and service! I'd recommend this place!

Visited the RIO for seven nights including New Year's holiday. This was my fourth or fifth stay at the RIO, and the last three trips have been booked through my slot host, which is a definite plus.

Service at the RIO is always prompt and friendly; just one glitch with no bath towels left in the room on first day. The Rio is in the process of upgrading their Carnival World Buffet; first half is done, second half should be finished around April or May.

This time, based on prior experiences, we avoided Buzio's seafood since food and service were awful on two prior visits. Other restaurants, like Seafood Buffet and All American Grill (great rack of lamb) were consistently excellent.

Regarding the casino, slot attendants were unusually quick in hand pay jackpots, but found the casino quite noisy due to the combination of "Bevertainers" and Masquerade show. However slots appeared to be a little looser than last visit in April, 2003.

However, Rio did a great job with New Year's party, and all accompaniments. Will definitely return again.

Loved the Rio. This was our first stay there. Everthing is wonderful, from the rooms to the staff. I can't wait to go back. I have nothing negative to say and could go on for pages about what a wonderful place this is. Love the Carnival in the Sky show. Its a very up beat party atmosphere! Thanks Rio for a wonderful week!

We had a great weekend. The room was very nice, and I have to say that the staff was fantastic. From the front desk to the buffet we found that everyone on staff really went out of their way to deliver an A+ experience.

There are a nice assortment of restaurants, and several shops. The Carnival Buffet was very good, and has enough variety to visit more than once. The Mexican restaurant upstairs was very good, with both the food and atmosphere being better than I expected.

I have stayed at Treasure Island, Bellagio, Paris, and most of the major strip hotels. I will be staying at the Rio again. While it is not as fancy as the Bellagio, it is very nice, and a better value.

Check out the Ron Lucas show in the afternoon, it was entertaining. The Scintas show in the evening was good too. There's no need to leave the Rio, they have everything you need.
