We stayed at the Riverside on Sunday evening, July 15th. I had called ahead earlier in the afternoon and was given a great rate for the evening. We checked in and were given a room on the 13th floor, a nonsmoking floor. The room itself was not bad but in the bathroom there were poop stains around the rim of the toilet. We went for a swim and the pool area was dirty and was overrun by rowdy teenagers. It was hard to just relax in the pool and sit on the side without someone bumping into you. The Riverside breakfast buffet was "ok" not great but the waitress gave us great, friendly service.

My wife and Ii stayed at the Riverside from May 27th to the 31st. The room was very clean and looked over the Colorado River. The food was great in all of the places we ate. The Prime Rib room was very good. The employees at the Riverside were all helpfull and very friendly. This is the first time we have stayed in Laughlin. In the past we have taken a free bus from Vegas to Laughlin for the day but never stayed. We plan to come back again within the next year and plan to stay at the Riverside again. Haven stayed in Vegas on 19 different trips, I would rate Laughlin a better deal all around. The comps were very good here.

Let's start with the casino. We didn't win any money, but the dealers and the pit bosses were fantastic!!! We were comped our rooms as well as all our meals. We had checked out of the hotel on the morning of the ninth. After checking out, one of the members in our party did not feel well enough to make the drive home. I talked to the pit boss (Jessica) and she got two rooms comped for us for another night. We would not stay at any other hotel or play at any other casino. On a scale of i-10. We would rate this trip a 10!!! The rooms were clean and the view was nice looking on the river..

My husband and I spent 5 nights at the Riverside for his birthday. From check-in to check-out we had a great time. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We had a smoking mini executive suite in the north tower and it was clean and even though I don't smoke I didn't think the smell was too bad. (my husband smokes and he used the balcony for for his cigarrette breaks while in the room) We were comped a pair of movie passes and a meal for two, and we choose the Sunday buffet. They gave us two little bottles of champagne and a birthday cake too! The Riverview Restaurant was good, fairly quick seating and service was fast and food good. We ate there several times. The Gourmet Room is excellent, as always. We like the cocktail hour in the Gourmet Room Bar too, half price well drinks and you can order hot and cold appetizers. We were disappointed the piano was on automatic player mode both times we ate there. If you want a cheap bite to eat try the Casino West Snack Bar. We got some fish and chips there and brought it back to the room (so I wouldn't miss watching Survivor) and we could have both eaten one order!
The Watch Man had a lot of new styles of watches and I came home with several new watches and a ring from Ring-O-Rama. The Movie Theater was fun, we saw two movies and enjoy the convenience of being so close and that there's a bar at the theater too! :-) The Casino was tight for me, but my husband hit a royal flush on a quarter machine, so that helped! My one complaint was that many times I couldn't find a cocktail waitress! I don't like to choose my machine according to where I get served but that is what I ended up doing! Once I found a waitress they were good to come back fairly often, but there could have been a few more waitresses to service the whole casino, not just the tables and the central area.
We saw Mr. Laughlin several evenings in the casino and appreciate the fact that he is so involved with his property. It's nice to see some familiar faces in the restaurants and casino. They treat us well, and that keeps us coming back! Thanks Don!

Just to add a recent review regarding the Riverside Hotel. My wife and I stayed in early January 2005 and reading the comments from 2-3 years ago things definitely have not changed at the Riverside. The slots are still tight, the decor is still dark and woody. And the craps pit area is definitely like a good old boys club where the women would do best to stay away. The only thing I might add is that when we booked a standard room with a river view, on our second night, my wife found a cockroach on the headboard of the bed. I promptly took care of it and the manager moved us into a cleaner deluxe room which was much better. Definitely the little things which will prevent us from coming back--trouble with front desk with credit card charges, accounting in not wanting to please the customer and perhaps racist attitude by graveyard dealer at the craps table. The number one complaint about the way the place is laid out is the signage--very confusing, ccouldn't see what the restaurants looked like inside so we ate at the pizza hut or the nice sidewalk cafe in the non smoking section. Hope this helps you decide. By the way, the balconies in the standard two queen rooms are very small and should've been labelled--standing balconies.

Did not stay here on this visit, but did want to comment about the new West Casino. This is good place for the low rollers that we are. The slots were a lot of fun to play and the service very good. We will definently be visiting the West Casino on our next trip to Laughlin.

Our several stays at the Reverside Hotel/Casino have all been great. The rating for any casino in the area is of course going to be based on the primary purpose of the visit and any preconseved notions of what one might reasonably expect. For my wife and I, gambling is what we are there for. Years ago we tired of the Las Vegas 'rat race'. Too many people at one time, too many kids running loose, out-of-control traffic, etc. The formula Vegas has adopted works for some, but not for us. Laughlin on the other hand has adequate rooms, decent eating facilities, decent service and traffic has never been a problem. We have enjoyed our gaming experience, knowing that along with winning comes losing. As a huge bonus, where in Las Vegas can one stay and bring their small pet dog with them? If you want Disneyland in the desert, go to Las Vegas. If you want a view of magnificent surroundings and your main focus is gambling, Laughlin is the only way to go.

We already stayed several times in Laughlin (in the River Palms, which was always a good stay). This time the River Palms was sold out (Friday afternoon) and the only place we got a room for 3 nights was the Riverside. Room had no amenities (shampoo, hair dryer etc.), beds were bad, phone didn't work. Casino hadn't many penny slots. The elevators were very slow and always full with people. Therefore if you wanted to go down, you had to go up. Taking the stairs was the fastest way to come down to the casino.

Room was not clean, decor was Motel 6 from the 70's at best. Buffet was somewhere between ordinary and bad. And girls, NO HAIR DRYER! What hotel doesn't have a hair dryer in every room? No conditioner, no body lotion or any amentities. If I had booked a cheap motel, I'd expect that, but this place is not cheaper than the others. My husband and I spend a weekend every month in Laughlin, but we will not return to the Riverside. We don't gamble, so no comment on the casinos.
