Sam's Town is way way from the strip, and although they offer shuttles, the shuttles from the strip end at 9:30 P M....Way too early..

The casino is for the elderly...I can see a person of 75 years plus who does not want to venture away from the hotel staying there....
The casino is unbelieveably smokey and there is no no no excitement in the casino at all....
The buffet is awful...I mean awful....
The machines are so so so tight....
Spend the extra money and stay on or close to the strip...

We started staying at Sam's Town about 6 years ago and continue to stay here every time we go to Vegas.
We feel this is our home away from home. Everybody is so friendly and makes us feel like we belong
there. When we checked in, the Manager remembered us from last October, so we chatted with him about
how we did last year and how they are renovating the sports book and some rooms. We are usually
comped for at least 4 nights every time we stay, but this last time, the Casino Host, Johnny comped us the
entire 6 nights, which was wonderful. When we do have to pay for the room, it's very reasonable for us
and well worth the money. We hardly left the Casino this time because it was so hot and we were having
so much fun. We definitely recommend to everyone to stay here only if you rent a car and want a more
laid back casino.

Rooms were large and comfortable and clean! Check in was quick and the staff was friendly. The food court was nice for a late snack or meal.We rented a car so being 6 miles from the strip was not a problem.Got a good deal off the internet with Travelocity for around $39 a nite.We cant wait to go back!

I've stayed in Vegas at many casino's but this was by far the worst hotel/casino I have ever stayed in. I only play table games, mostly blackjack, but the games were ruled for maximum house advantage. The first place I've ever seen 6:5 payout for a blackjack and no doubling down after a split! Getting a comped room is impossible! The hotel service was slow and terrible. There was absolutely NO sun at the pool after 3pm because of the casino shadow. The best part was the dumpster situated adjacent to the pool area - every day was 105 degrees and the stench from the dumpster was unbearable! Oh - there is no business center either so it costs about $10 on a pay computer just to get a damn boarding pass! I would never stay here again

A completely pleasant visit. If you don't mind staying six miles east of the Strip, I recommend Sam's Town. The entire property is comfortable, made more so by the Mystic Falls atrium courtyard that was a cool, green oasis on a hot summer weekend. The front desk, bell service, and valet parking staffs were all quick and courteous. The race and sports book is one of the best I've been to Roxy's Lounge presented two live music groups: one played country and rock hits, while the other one performed soul and disco favorites.

My first time to Sam's Town. I usually stay at the Orleans but wanted to try somewhere different for half of my stay. Check in was rather slow considering there was only one person ahead of us and one clerk on duty. (It was late) The room was very nice and clean just like it's pictured on the net but the clerk gave us both a room that had a view of the roof and air conditioning units when their web site states otherwise. I would have loved to have had a view of the courtyard but it was too late to bother. The beds were really comfortable and the bathroom was pretty roomy. I loved the courtyard and Mystic Falls. The store fronts really do give you that feeling of the old west. I didn't eat much there and only ate at the Fresh Harvest Cafe. The steak and eggs were great for only $4.99. The casino is huge with plenty of choices for games but I can't say that any of the slots were loose. The cocktail service is pretty lousy. They don't have enough waitresses and the ones they do have hang out at the drink station too long before going out to the casino floor. They do have an extensive shuttle service to and from the strip and downtown. I would definately stay there again. The price is right too!

My husband and I stayed at Sams Town for 4 nights. It was very enjoyable with a Atrium and little coffee cart with excellent pastries. The buffet was not that good but passable. The cafe and deli were excellent. Casino is mostly Poker but not a place for big winnings. Staff is very friendly and our rooms were cleaned quickly and efficiently. The rooms have been recently renovated and everthing is beautiful, modern and clean. Everyone at Sams Town is willing to help and made our stay there a fun time.
We will be returning again next year. The shuttle bus is so very convenient, stopping at several places on the strip. The shuttle is on time either coming or going to the strip. This is an excellent Hotel and Casino and worth the money.

We consider the value of Sams Town excellent. The casino is one of the largest in Las Vegas believe it or not. The rooms have all been remodeled and work perfectly for the budget minded. We visit at least twice a year and enjoy the casino, movie theater, bowling alley all all the nice restaurants. After you establish yourself room offers will come one a month like clockwork (3 free nights plus lunch and dinner for two in the buffet. We never have used the shuttle and a car is recommended when staying here.

Great visit. Fast check in/out. Very clean rooms and casino. Easy access and parking. We even won sometimes on the video poker. We stayed for 4 nights and would definately stay there again. We ate at Fresh Harvest Cafe every morning for breakfast. Very good food at good prices. Only issue was we asked for non-smoking room, and they didn't have any when we got there. But you couldn't even tell it was a smoking room.

Had a great visit. Rooms are a very good value, check-in/out was very fast, parking is convenient and plentiful, something for everyone to do in the complex, located in the real world but only a ten minute drive to the strip. I was leary of staying off the strip but very glad we did. The cafe had a great breakfast and very inexpensive. I can't say anything good about the buffet and wouldn't recommend it to anyone that has taste buds, enjoys good service, or appreciates a good value. There are other dining options in the hotel but with all of the great deals on good food to be found in various other places I didn't try them. I'd stromgly recommend Sam's Town to anyone who likes to get away from the crowd on the strip.

Overall, I would have to say we enjoyed our 4-night stay at Sam's Town. The casino is fun (lots of good video poker), the atrium is a nice place to relax, the movie theaters are beautiful with very comfortable seats, the shuttle service to many various locations was great, and the rooms were clean. On the downside, they need to get more help at the front desk. I noticed only one desk clerk the entire time we were there except for Friday night when they had two. All of us just in line just looked at each other and shook our heads in disbelief at the slow process. Not a good first impression! The only other bad thing was the 3 elevators in front empty onto the casino with absolutely no security. The elevators in the rear are secured with locks opened with your room key. Enjoyed Billy Bob's and the cafe, but the buffet was disappointing. Well worth the money!

Found this place through a friend.I used to stay at Paris and got tired of all the French. My last four times at Sam's Town my room cost me a total of $1.00 a night.( telephone surcharge)I rent a car so the location does not bother me.My first time here was August of 2003 I stayed for 7 nights the price was not bad.Since then I have been back 5 times and just love it.This year I only stayed three nights and moved over to Paris for three did not enjoy myself at all.The attitudes of the dealers is like night and day.

What a disapointment to me and the rest of my group. We always stay on the strip and have been curious about Sams Town after seeing all the advertizments in the magazines. They sure have a good PR department! The place is not a dump or anything, it looks nice and well kept up but as far as gambeling it's mostly video poker. I did not see any new slots, just the same old ones and not very many of them either. I knew about the western theam of the place but when it's advertized as one of the top attractions and there are fake poorly animated animals in the atrium it reminded me of a cheap kiddie park! What slots we did play were not paying off. I wanted to pick up a shot glass and they were out! I know it sounds like sour grapes, me stating it was a bad visit because the slots didn't pay off and they were out of shot glasses but I had made my mind up well before even playing any slots or looking for a shot glass. I would say if you were looking for video poker, wanted hokey western type theams and wanted to be way off the beaten path, you might like Sams Town. Me, I prefer places that have new slots and are closer. I will not return and neither will any of my party.

I stayed here just one night back in June as I like to check out new (to me) off-strip hotels for 1 night, instead of committing my entire Vegas trip to staying at a new place and hating it (my other 3 nights were at The Orleans). Parking was easy in the self-park garage, I wheeled my luggage through the door which is by the poker room, and tried to find check-in. After asking directions (employees were friendly and helpful) I found check-in in the Atrium. Check-in was quick as I was the only person in line. Since I was only staying one night, the clerk did not put a "hold" on my credit card for incidentals, she just asked for $1.00.

I think the Atrium is really cute including the animated bears, and the laser light show at night is fabulous.

Elevators were quick but there was quite a walk to the room on the opposite side of the Atrium, facing the mountains to the east. Room was very clean, and the bed was a little too soft for my liking. Very quiet. Bathroom was pretty large, but the sign on the door about being charged $40.00 if you steal a towel was tacky. They must have a lot of missing bathroom linens.

We ate at the buffet for dinner. Last year we ate lunch here and it was much better. Dinner was Mexican night, and there wasn't much variety. The desserts were good though, I really like their chocolate cream pie. Crust tastes homemade.

Joined the slot club, the man who works there was very friendly and gave me lots of freebees. No luck on any slots, though. I don't know why the other poster didn't think they had the newest slots - they had the LATEST nickel version of Wheel of Fortune, Phone Tag and others. They just didn't pay off for me, but I didn't play much. I like the 1980's music that is piped into the casino, they have a good sound system.

Check-out was quick in the morning, it's nice they have a food court with cheap food like McDonald's. The Java in the Park had great coffee and pastries.

I would stay here again as the room rate at $29 was great, as long as you have a rental car there is no problem getting to the strip. (I think they also have a shuttle that runs). I didn't check out the pool, but I did notice they had good rates on the Cabana rental, so maybe next year.

When you've had your fill of watching and being seen at the over-priced strip casinos, Sam's Town is the place to go. I was checked in within 5 minutes! The room was comfortable and the bathroom was clean and larger than I expected. Definitely worth the room rate! No view from the room's window to speak of, but this is not important to me as I spend little time in the room. The maid service did not complain about the strange hours I kept and the room was made up daily and promptly (usually when I was out having lunch). Billy Bob's Steak house was ok, but not the greatest. Both the meal and service were fair. If you want a good steak, head over to The Steak House at the Luxor. Fellini's on the other hand was excellent. The food was very good the service was excellent. The hotel courtyard, where the Mystic Falls are, is relaxing and comfortable. When I needed a break from the poker table, a quick drink at the Ram's Head bar next to the water fall was a pleasant distraction. Most of the Sam's Town employees I dealt with seemed happy to be there and all were very helpful in fulfulling my requests. The bartenders were quick with a drink and knew my choice of poison within the first day. Cocktail waitresses were always close by. I hit a Royal Flush my first day there. The payback percentage on the video poker machines at Sam's Town is much higher than what you will find at the strip casinos. I was hand paid promptly and the IRS paperwork was taken care of quickly as well. When I noticed a discrepency in the paperwork the next day, corrections were made right away by the friendly office staff. Sam's Town offers free shuttle busses to the strip and Fremont Street throughout the day, so the hotel's Boulder Highway location was not a real bother. Be warned that it takes a long time to get a taxi at Sam's Town. If you rent a car you'll be happy you did, even if it's just to go to and from the airport. The poker room offered $4-$8 and $6-$12 Texas Hold'em and the wait for a seat when the room was full was not that bad. The poker room's paging system can be heard throughout the casino, so you don't have to sit in the poker room while you wait. I wouldn't suggest a beginner play poker here as you will be sitting with locals who have many hours of experience. I pretty much saw the same locals there every day. I suggest that beginners play over at The Luxor where they cater to beginner poker players. Sam's Town truly lived up to it's reputation as a place where locals take their friends. You won't find the self-absorbed L.A. or N.Y.C. type at this hotel like you do at the hip strip hotels. That type of thing is what I came to Sam's Town to get away from! I will definitely visit Sam's Town again.

I try to eat at Billy Bob's each time I stay at Sam's Town. That is coming to a screeching halt.. I ate there in December and the steaks were fair. I ate there in February and the New York Strip was full of grizzle..they are going down hill, the waiter was no where to be found until the meal was over. I pointed out the large amount of grizzle, it was like talking to the wall.. no response.. the bill was $23..I gave him a $50 dollar bill and he gave me 7 singles and the rest in 5's.. I rewarded him with what he was worth..never checked on meal, disappeared until time to pay for meal.. he got a lousy buck.. I don't expect to win on slots or table games as the precentage is so far in the house's favor.. and I just contributed a few dollars to them.. How else could they buy out the "Coast" casinos and hotels.. surely you don't think you can beat them.. go there and blow a few bucks and know when to stop.. never go to the ATM and don't ask for credit.. Rooms are very nice and website gives good rates. I don't drink, but the cocktail waitresses were constantly serving drinks to all around me..
