If you want to impress all your friends with pictures and big name resorts, this is not the place for you. If you want a clean, quite, comfortable place to stay convenient to the strip and the Las Vegas Convention Center, than you may want to consider the Somerset.

The motel was built in the 60's and hasn't changed much. It is a favorite of the older crowd who stay for a few weeks or months in the winter because of its low rates and location. There is parking, easy access to the strip and downtown, a pool, a washer and dryer for guests. There are 108 rooms and 80 have kitchenettes with fridge, sink, stove, cabinets , table and chairs and an extra window. The other rooms have only a fridge. It is a five minute walk to a Walgrens at the corner of LV Blvd and Convention Center Dr. and a 10 minute walk to the LV Convention Center on Paradise. I have found the staff to be friendly, the premises quiet, room spacious and clean, with comfortable beds and good size closets and bathroom. Furniture is old but functional and place lacks luxury but at $260 bucks a week or so it is a great deal for someone who uses a room to hang clothes, sleep 6 hours, shower and leave. I like a fridge for drinks and munchies. If you like bragging rights and a view then stay on the strip and spend $260/night. If you are practical than try this place. I am booked in 2007 for my 6th stay.
