- Good Visit This was our 2nd visit to Stratospere and it was GREAT. The room was neat, clean and was kept that way daily. We ate at Lucky's and mostly Courtyard Buffet and it was delicious and everyone helpful and courteous. We played at most of the Strip casinos over 4 days but must say we enjoyed the casino at Stratosphere most of all. They have many machines to chose from and there doesn't seem to be the over crowding there is at the other end of Strip. We thoroughly enjoyed our entire time there and will stay again when returning to Vegas. Thank you for a great time Stratosphere. The Taylors from Truth or Consequences, NM

Even though the bellhops were friendly and curteous, I can't help but think the money I spent on the room was wasted. Opening the drapes, I was hoping for a spectacular view like I had at the Rio. I had a huge piece of the Strats building blocking my view.

- Good Visit Love the Strat!! We stay @ the Stratosphere every year. This last trip we had three rooms. Two conectors and one room two doors from the elevators. We always stay in the Premier Towers that exit right on the casino floor and next to the parking garage. Everyone in the group gets good comps! The staff is great and if you tip the servers $1, they keep the drinks coming!!! Everyone in our group has stayed at other Casinos on the Strip and they have no value. I have been watching the Stratosphere change over the last few years and it is great!!

- Bad Visit My friend and I had just visited Las Vegas on Christmas Day and left on Dec 27th, 2007.
Once we arrived to the Stratesphere, it was already 2:30pm, because of the long 30min wait for Grey Line Shuttle at the airport. We had met a nice friendly bell boy who took our luggages and led us to the front desk and our room. He's also very knowledgeable in providing information about the shuttle and bus.
Instead of going to the better places to enjoy the buffet lunch. We had to stay at Stratesphere to eat their buffet. :( My friend and I were 2nd group waiting at the line. When I was stepping up a bit to just look around, the woman at the register, Tina was saying impolitely and with attitude, "Can you step back? I want to make sure the customer here would get enough room to enter". Then she was smiling back to the male customer. And then when my friend and I were ordering the buffet, another family man was stepping to look around just like me, she didn't say anything to him. The incident made us think that she's mainly unfriendly to females. And we had to pay $16 per person for the COLD and bad-quality food.
Yesterday morning, Dec 26th 2007, my friend and I decided to take the tour of the Top Tower. At fist, we didn't expect we had to go thru the long line of both security check and photo-shooting before heading up to the top. But there's no other option. Because there was no sign saying I had to take out the camera for the security check, I didn't know I had to take out the camera from my coat and put into the cup. Then this short mid-aged filipino woman working for the security check was talking to another female filipino travler that "She's idiot". I immediately turned back and say "What did you say?" and went ahead to take the stupid photo unwillingly. WOW, HOW RUDE!!!!! I would be idiot if I don't file the complaint!
Even though they have suggestion/comments form inside their hotel rooms, they only recommend you leaving your comments at your own room. My friend and I really doubted the room-cleaning people would read mine or would really help me turn in. So we check around the lobby and did not see the feedback/comments box at all. I asked the Concierge staffs where's their feedback/comments box, they just pretend they don't understand and tell you to go to the line and wait for the front desk. Just because of this another incident, my friend and I could already know for sure that they don't want to hear anything back to improve their casino and hotel quality. Their HR department and top managers don't even care how the staffs' performance and don't provide any trainings on customer service.
The experience at Stratosphere had ruined my holiday mood. And I would strongly recommend you pay extras to eat at better places such as Mandalay. They provide excellent service regardless they receive no tips. Over there, we could feel welcome and treat fairly as the customers.
I will never go back to Stratosphere and I will tell all my family, relatives and friends NEVER NEVER visit this terrible place.

- Good Visit Stayed at Strat Nov '07 as part of a (cheap!) USAir package deal, and my overall rating is "7.5". Our room in the older World Tower was updated and clean; no bugs or smells or anything. Beds were soft but okay; bedspreads and sheets were newer and in good condition. Bathroom was clean but so tiny the door barely swung shut in front of toilet. Water pressure was good, and there was a fan in the bathoom. Vanity was outside the shower area and didn't have much counterspace; women with lots of "beauty stuff" will be disappointed.
Service was GREAT, I was next in line to check in at 11am on a Saturday, bartenders were good, lounges had football on many TV's, and I got a great parking tip from the valet on parking close to some little-used elevators in the World Tower. Sportsbook wasn't flashy but very efficient; there were always seats available and they comped drink tickets. Pool was a mile from my room but pretty decent overall; it was fairly crowded too but not too crowded.
This ain't the Wynn, but for the budget traveler with a car this place is IDEAL because Strip traffic isn't bad at all up there. (Note: I wasn't crazy about the new casino decor though, with reddish carpeting w/bland creme-colored ceiling. I liked the old look with purplish carpeting and sky-blue ceiling). What else....enjoyed a late night snack at the 24-hr cafe and it was fine. (Roxy's closes late at night and doesn't re-open 'til 10am; I found that odd). Didn't gamble much there or use any of my "$5 resort fee" coupons, but spent quite a bit of time at their sister property Arizona Charlie's Boulder, which is 10-15 minutes away via freeways. Bottom Line: I'd stay there again if I got a similar deal, absolutely.

After reading some of the negative comments, I'm convinced that most folks who SAY they are always comped at the bigger and outrageously priced properties, are lying! If you want to stay at MGM or WYNN or BELAGIO, stay there!! If you want a reasonably priced room, a nice casino, some good entertainment (top of tower), some good food (Top of the World, Roxy's), then stay at the Strat. We've stayed there 5-6 times over the last few years and so far, we've never had a bad experience. Check in times USED to be long, until I found out if you are responding to either an email offer or a card offer, you are considered an INVITED GUEST and you use that line instead of the longer line. I'd rather pay $30 a night for a clean room and have money left over to do shows, play in the casino or just about anything else I'd rather do with my money, then to spend in on a $400 a night room and be able to do nothing else except watch the water show at Bellagio! Quit bitching about saving some money folks and if you truely aren't happy with what you get at the Strat, please (I say PLEASE) go somewhere else!

- Bad Visit Took a one day business trip to Vegas. We had a block of rooms at the Stratosphere - reasonable rates. Called home (Washington)to let my family know I made it OK. Got my bill, it has a $64.99 charge on it, thot they had charged me for another day. when I called, I found out I was charged $10.13 a MINUTE for the use of the phone (had a 6 1/2 minute phone call)!! Talk about a rip off. Thought about going back there, not any longer - just another rip-off artist in Vegas.....

- Undecided We stayed at the Stratosphere for 5 days in april. Check in was easy but even though i had booked reservations months in advance they did not have a room for us. We had to upgrade to a bigger jacuzzi room for $20.00 a night. Plus the cost of the resort fee. I don't know why they charge you that fee. The room was nice and overlooked the strip but a/c did not work well. Water pressure was awful as it took over 30 minutes to fill the tub to use the jacuzzi. Casino was big and they have lots of great slots. But when the nightclub Polly Esters opens and starts playing there music its extremely loud. The slots near the entrance to the night club where our favorite machines were located, we couldn't sit and play because the Loud music would drive you away.Cocktail service while playing was extremely slow. Faster to get something to drink yourself rather then wait for some one to come to you. The pool was a big disappointment since it closes at 7pm every day. And even though it says its heated its not. It was like stepping in to a pool of ice water. The buffet wasn't very good and way over priced but the food at Lucky's and Roxy's Diner was great. Don't know anything about the tower since every time we tried to go up to the top it was closed due to high winds.

Noticing some BAD posts here, I felt I should tell of my expieriences at the Strat. I stayed in 08/06 and 10/06. Both time I was treated with the respect from everyone at the Strat. From the Valet to the Check-in, to the room service. Everything was awesome. I first set foot in the Strat in March of 2006. Just for an hour or so to check the place out. I found a hot machine, as did my friend. (Try that in other strip casinos!) Well, I recieved a free shirt on my way out, and in the mail came offers for 19.95 rooms with $50.00 cash upon checking in. Used those in August, rooms were great, fast elevators, Stayed in Premier tower. Close to Valet, Food, And Black Jack. What more could you want? The Slots were very friendly, especially compared to further South on the Strip.
Trip #2 in October of 2006, I also stayed on a mail offer of 19.95 rooms and $40.00 cash upon check-in. Once again slots were good, Black-Jack was awesome! Treated great by entire staff again!
I am not a high-roller. I spend 200-300 per day in Vegas max. When thats gone, I am done for the day. However the loose machines at the strat and generous comp rules have allowed me to be rated as a (High Roller) member in their slot club. (2nd tier of 4 tiers to the club) I get a free room upgrade, I also get to check in at VIP! No waiting in line. They also waive the $5.00 resort energy fee per day. They say since I am Hosted, I don't have to pay that. I did not seek out a host, I was contacted by mail after my first stay. A host sent me a nice letter of welcome. Saying if I need anything or am coming out I should let them know. I have both times been given FREE tickets to the Viva Las Vegas show. Nothing big, but, free and a good show.
If you stay here and expect the WYNN. Don't post every little thing that happens to you and blast a great place for low rollers to stay. There is NO place in Vegas that gives food comps like the Strat does! It goes right on your card and you use it at the restaurants when you eat.
Also, the location is great to me. You see, I don't want the traffic, both vehicle and foot, that you get by ceasars, MGM, NYNY, Etc. I like to be able to drive my car into the street and get were I'm going without waiting a half-hour!
I'll be staying at the Strat the first week in April, 2007. CAn hardly wait!

- Bad Visit Absurdly loud. I actually had to use earplugs in the casino.
A vwery high % of patrons were obviously intoxicated.
Rooms are of low quality, as is the food.
Pool / exercise area poorly maintained.
The rooms were VERY cheap at $30 per night mid-week.

- Bad Visit This was our second stay with stratosphere due to our previous experience with
the hotel we booked a longer stay but upon arrival check in was very long 1hr
arrival was at 1am our 2nd day stay we were informed there was a miscommunication with front desk agent and had to change rooms.Mod on duty
alexander who stated would rectify situation that night didnt. The 3rd day we
noticed no one had rectified and contacted front desk and then they did.The 4th
day our toilet leaked and notified front desk immediately and was told they would transfer our call to engineering 9:45 am when no one showed after 1hr we
contacted again front desk and was transferred to engineering with no one still
showing up contacted again 12:30 spoke with (debbie) hotel operator who stated
a room change due to engineering said leakage due to back area and that causing
leakage below our room stated leakage was not of 2inch of water but a puddle
each time you flush and informed no one ever came to look at situation how they
would say that not knowing (debbie)became argumentive and stated they did come
to room .Informed incorrect when we have been in room since initial call and no
one ever came we then requested a manager to contact room then 10 minutes later
engineering (rick) came stated toilet needed to be replaced and could replace
within the hour but that would have to get from 6th floor area and could have
the job completed in 1hr. contacted front desk and spoke with cece whom was very sincere and apologized for the inconvenience and changed our room upon the
room change initial room (toilet problem)upon gathering our luggage found that
engineering had left 3times water leakage on floor went to new room and tv was
very bad reception (snowy) and menu channel was just a black screen which the
previous rooms we didnt have .Called hotel front desk to inquire an email or #
to inquire our concerns we were informed there was only a comment card to fill
out inquired again if there was a general manager and was told there was not but there was an asst. ? again inquired how an asst and no GM asked if they
have a director of operations and was told the only person would be walter
soper? inquired again if anyone above him and then finally stated Don lake this
was finally concluded from 2 supervisors after 20 minutes ( judy , Nila )we found this pretty disturbing after now 1 hour taken from our last day in vegas
that hotel staffing was unaware that stratosphere does have a general manager &
a director or manager of the hotel whom they stated was unavailable on the
weekends and that they could transfer the call but with no response. This was a
very bad experience with the stratosphere and traveling from Augusta Ga & Tampa Fl we do not plan to return to the stratosphere hotel again.

- Bad Visit Room 31031 has BED BUGS. The bed nearest the bathroom had at least 6, if not more, bed bugs. We awoke to find one crawling on my pillow. We immediatley called the front desk. They sent a security officer to our room. The security officer acted indignant about the whole thing. They offered to move us to a new room, but said that we should clean all of our clothing (the stuff in the suit cases too) before we moved. Seeing that this was our vacation, and we didn't bring detergent, and we had formal clothing that we had to wear that night, we didn't really have time to stop and clean everything we brought with us. We asked if they would pay to have all of our clothing cleaned, and they said that it would take 2 days, and that they really couldn't pay for it.
Not once did anyone apologize. We went down to the front desk and they referred us to the manager. He finally apologized, after we had wasted 2 hours of our time with the situation. They did move us, and the room was bug free, at least we hope it was. Always check the back of the head board before you bring in your luggage. It lifts upward off of the wall.

- Bad Visit When the shuttle dropped us off at the Stratosphere there was absolutely no one available to assist with luggage. I guess since it was late the hired help had gone home. Check-in at the Strat was terrible. We were there at 11pm and there was a very long line and only three front desk people. They were somewhat friendly, but it took a long time. And after a long flight from the east coast this just added to the pain. The Strat has a serious ventilation system problem. Even though we're both non-smokers we did expect to be blown away by smoke. But not at the level that the Strat offered. Everytime you walk into this place you get that nasty nicotine smell. We asked for non-smoking rooms which proved to be a waste of breath. The room we got smelled terrible.
The Strat supposedly has a reputation of having "loose slots" meaning they pay more than most I guess. And I'm not saying this even though I wasn't very lucky, but I didn't find this to be the case. I honestly beleive they are playing off this rumor just to get people to come there. And it wouldn't surprise me if was management who got the rumor started. After all they do have to do something to get people to stay there. The area around the Strat makes me think it's in on the ghetto side of Vegas. I got hit up twice by panhandlers and at the IHOP a short distance from the hotel there was a homeless guy hanging around outside. For the most part the hotel employees were OK. But you better answer quick if a waitress passes by asking if you want drinks. They rarely wait for an answer. And then they take forever to return. We did have a problem with the women where you trade in your comp points for merchandise. They said my wife had waited too long to use her comp points. That they were suppose to be used within 24 hours. Of course we were never told this detail. So we were hassled over a t-shirt. She did get the t-shirt and a coffee cup, but only because she had some sort of coupon in a coupon book she had received. All in all the visit to Vegas was great. Thank goodness there are other casinos and hotels. The helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon with Heli USA was wonderful! My brother and his wife went with us this trip. Which was our first trip. They stayed at the MGM Grand during their first visit and could not beleive the difference between the hotel rooms and the level of service you receive. I really did experience the old saying about getting what you pay for. I'll never stay in the Stratosphere again.

- Bad Visit I get out to Vegas two to three times a year and I am a “Player Card” member at several four and five star Hotel & Casinos at which I am comped transportation, suites and food each visit. This trip, some friends had asked my wife and I to join them in Vegas, which we did. Not having been to Vegas before, they booked their rooms at the Stratosphere. In an effort to spend as much times with them as possible, we hesitantly booked there as well. What a mistake! Hotel was average at best, many guests would have been more at home in a Motel 6, the way many of them behaved in the casino and at the pool, and the gambling was the worst I have ever experienced. Gambled roughly $5,000 per day averaging six hours each day. When it was time to check out, I was presented with $50.00 in comps! Here’s a hint guys, when your hotel is average at best and sits in the middle of a war zone, you might want to do a little more to attract quality guests. See ya in November MGM Grand!!!

- Good Visit I don't know why people complain after staying at the Strat. First off, you stay there for the rate not because it's a mega-resort. If you want that, spend $200 a night and stay at some other casino that will take your money just as quickly if not faster. With the Strat, it's all about value. I found $5 single and double deck blackjack. Try finding that at the MGM. I had a room in the Premier tower and I was pleasantly surprised. The only issue is that you can hear the people in the other room and in the halls. Also the bed was springy, but hey it was cheap and it didn't stink. I'd definitely stay here again. Just remember, you're paying for value.

Buffet was perfect for Brunch, priced right with good selection. Slots were a bit tight on some, loose on others. Room was clean as were the beds. Got extra towels from the maid when we asked. Love the location right in the middle of the strip. Go to Vegas every July, and stay at the Strat, spend my money on the slots! Not waste it on a room I'm only gonna sleep in.

- Good Visit We stayed here for my daughter's 21st birthday and had a great time. I'm not a big fan of all the penny machines that seem to be taking over all of the casinos, but I still found enough full pay video poker machines to play and win some money. The service was good, the value was excellent, and we were told by many people that the old neighborhood surrounding the property is being torn down and replaced with new housing. Annie at the Player's Club desk is always fun to see. Comp system is not that great anymore, but I haven't found any that are these days.

- Undecided My husband and I went to las vegas for 6 nights and we got the room at the strat for one saturday night for 49 and the rest of the week for 26 a night. Great price for the hotel.
We didnt check in till really late after midnight. There was no bell hope to help us with our bags. I asked for a free upgrade and we got one overlooking the pool and she said in the newer tower. The room was clean, very small and the air conditor never really worked right, the room never got cold.
The breakfeast buffet we ate their one time was a very poor value, we think we way over paid compared to some of the others.
We signed up for the player club card and the lady was so rude, the ladies that was working at the mgm player club place was so great.
Overall we will never stay at this place again. We even complain to the manager will we were there and nothing was done.

- Undecided People know what they are getting staying at the Strat, a low rate. You are miles from anywhere and its not a great neighborhood. That being said, we had a good time. The gambling was perfect and we had a great meal at the Crazy Armadillo (64oz margaritas) Its a decent walk to the monorail station at the Sahara, but not ridiculous. Our shower head was broken and we seemed to be sharing hot water with the people next us, whom it seemed like we were staying in the same room as them because the walls were not good at stopping noise. But we were hardly in the room at all, and the bed was comfy when we needed it. The place is all right, but why not just stay at Sahara which is the same price and no worse of a place. The only thing is the Strats casino is way bigger than Sahara and you can actually find an open spot at a table game. I wasn't impressed or disappointed, you know what you are getting at the Strat.

- Good Visit My boyfriend and I went to Las Vegas for the weekend of my birthday. Neither of us had been to Vegas in about 15 years, so we went to check out the new hotels and go sightseeing. We stayed at the Stratosphere because most everything else was all booked up, and the Strat had reasonable weekend rates. We arrived about 10am and though the room I originally booked was not yet ready, the hotel clerk asked if I wanted to upgrade for a small price. We ended up going from a room without a view to a room with a view of the strip and a jacuzzi tub for $30 more Sat. night and $15 more Sun. night, and we were able to go straight to it without a wait. It was a good bargain, and our room was clean and tidy. There was nothing spectacular, but nothing out of sorts either. The staff were very friendly and fulfilled our requests for another blanket and two more pillows within about 15 minutes. The remote control to the television wasn't working properly, and they provided us with another one in a short amount of time.
We had dinner at the Top of the World restaurant that evening. The view was phenomenal and the service fair. We ordered 2 appetizers and an entree each, along with a glass of wine for me and martini for him. The wait staff were friendly and personable. The entrees took awhile to appear, but the food was good. We spent about $175 on dinner including a tip. Because we ate at the restaurant, we did not have to pay to go up the elevator or out to the observation deck. All of the elevator operators and staff were friendly.
The next morning we had the Sunday champagne brunch buffet. The food was average, no different than any other buffet that I'd been to, but it was reasonable. My boyfriend loves crab and they did have some available at the brunch, but he said it had a funny smell so he decided to pass. Other than that, it was fair.
Though the Stratasophere is on the end of the strip, it wasn't as far away as some would lead you to believe. We left our car at the hotel the entire weekend and took the monorail, which is a great way to get around. The Sahara is the last stop closest to the Strat. It is about a ten minute walk (if that) to the Sahara, and from there you can get on the monorail and visit most of the hotels on the strip very easily. Yes there is a lot of walking invovled, but I doubt it would be any different if you tried to drive around yourself. It was also a great deal less expensive than trying to take a cab everywhere. If you are going to be traveling the strip for any length of time, I highly recommend buying the monorail day pass at $15 per person.
Lastly, I had a massage at the spa in the Stratosphere. It was a great massage!!! The staff were friendly. Robert, my masseuse, was very professional yet personable. The spa looks almost like a beauty store from the front, but they have a serene area in the back lit with candles which provided a calming atmosphere.
All in all I enjoyed our stay at the Stratosphere. I didn't do any gambling because I'm not a gambler, but it looked like people were enjoying themselves. I would not hesitate to stay there again. Good service, nice amenities, and a reasonable price.

- Good Visit This is not a 5 star resort! But you do not pay 5 Star prices! I was very pleased with what I received for $29 a night. The place was fresh and clean and the room was very quiet and quite adequate. The Star bucks coffee was good but too expensive and the buffet OK but better deals near by. I liked the location a good place from which to do lots of exploring. I felt safe and will be staying here again in Nov.

- Good Visit Did not stay here -- only visited the casino. Nice place. Signed up for their players club, and it didn't take much to get a comped lunch at the buffet. And I'm *not* a high roller -- mostly nickel and quarter machines. I will be back.

- Good Visit Believe it or not, some people visit Las Vegas for business. I stayed at the Strat for a single night. Personnel were friendly and helpful. Plenty of places to eat. Roxy's was very good - Lucky's a little slow. Spacious room and clean. Excellent location - easy to get to highways, Strip, downtown, without having to fight the Strip traffic. Parking from Strip to garage is very easy and quick. Vallet was a little slow at 7 a.m. Good visit. No complaints.

- Good Visit Not bad for the money. The hotel and casino themselves are good value, but the reason why the price is so low will become painfully clear as soon as you try to walk to the centre strip. Good exercise, but braving all the street-hawkers can be very hard work. That aside, really not bad at all. The only downside is that, upon arrival, we were asked to pay an additional booking fee for every night we stayed in the hotel. Why, I'm not sure, but they didn't mention it when we booked.

- Bad Visit I didnt stay at the Hotel, but I did go to the famous crab leg buffet. Ive never been so sick in my life. Stay away from this buffet. I had the squirts with blood for 5 days and it scared me to death. Luckily, I got an antibiotic to take care of the problem, but I can assure you that I will never eat snow crab again.

The only bad part was the location, it is a long walk to the other casinos but the bus runs by evry 10 minutes or so. 5 dollars a day for a bus ticket was not bad.

- Good Visit This was my second stay at the Stratosphere. Location is not the best in the world, but the Deuce (double decker bus that runs dewn the Las Vegas Strip to and from downtown) stops right outside the hotel and the Monorail stop at the Sahara is about 2/10 of a mile away. The rooms are small compared to some of the other Strip hotels, but no smaller than you would find in a regular hotel or motel anywhere else in the country. The price is right and the food at the restaurants is decent (Roxy's is great). I agree with a previous writer, the gift shop at the top of the escalator does have some of the best prices I've seen in Las Vegas. I visit Las Vegas 3-4 times a year and depending on the reason for the trip (if it's a special trip with a special someone, I usually go for a hotel closer to the center of the Strip), will definately stay here again.

- Good Visit Made it back here since last visit in May. Mentioned to the front desk person about our unfortunate incident with the toilet the last time, and he gave us a deluxe room (much bigger bathroom). The room as expected was very nice, clean and comfortable. Finally made it to the top of the tower (free for hotel guests between10am and 2pm ), awesome view and rides. The viva las vegas show was great too ,funny and entertaining. We tried the breakfast/brunch buffet for $9 ,it was good, tasty and satisfying. Roxy's Diner has good food ,decent prices and fun entertainment. Had great and relaxing time at the pool too. Didnt have much luck at the casino though, the usual story , we should have quit while we're ahead !!!..Overall, we loved staying at the Stratosphere, clean, and fun atmosphere and friendly staff .

Spent much of 7/7/05 at the Strat. LOVE the casino. Open and easy to navigate the place has OK tables and an excellent selection of VP and slots. Wife had a good times on the slots and came out way ahead for the day. I loved the VP at the Bar near the Sports book. 9/6 JOB with great bar service. Bass Ale and Sam Adams served as fast as I could suck 'em down. The poker Gods was kind to me that day and for a buck a beer tip I got crocked in a couple of hours. When I started making dumb moves on the machine I quit. I do plan on visiting the casino and bars next time I'm in town. The food seemed average for the strip. Didn't make it up the tower. Left that for the kids.

- Good Visit I loved the Strat..my wife and I visited Vegas 7/23-7/31 and this was our first time staying there. The ONLY negative thing I can say and it really isn't, is the location if you don't have a car. Other than that the room was very clean (18th Floor Premier Tower), great view of the mountains and the king size bed was one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in.
The staff save the casino cashier was all very friendly and helpful. Check in and checkout were BOTH accomplished in under 5 minutes. Parking was easy and plentiful.
Iv'e stayed at Harrahs (way overpriced), Frontier (talk about a dump) and Excalibur (not bad but prefer Strats rooms) and the Strat has been my favorite so far. It is actually nice if you have a car being so far up the strip as you can really skirt the congestion of the Blvd.
I'm going back out the first week of October and where to saty is a no brainer for me...back at the Strat!!

Out of all the hotels I think this one gives the best value. The rooms are clean and the staff is friendly. The rooms are priced reasonable. The value is the entertainment in the lounge. The nights we were there Area 51 Experience entertained us in the lounge. This group really has a lot of energy and there is no way you cannot have fun. They provide outstanding entertainment. The casino is really nice and they also have a good buffet at a reasonable price.

- Good Visit This was my first time to Las Vegas and after reading all the reviews I must admit I was a little nervous to go as I thought it wouldnt be that nice.
When we arrived the check in was so quick it was scary me and my fiancee were so impressed, I asked the desk cleark for a good room and that he did sent us up to the 20th floor with a nice view.. The room was very clean nothing real fancy but nice, The first morning we went to the buffet and it was great not the cheapest in Vegas but good food. One thing that is true the Stratosphere is the very last hotel on the strip or the first one whatever way you would like to put it! but we found the area to be a lot more trashy and the people that hung around that area were usualy drunk or seemed to be on drugs. it didnt really bother us as it was outside the hotel and not in it. The great thing is a trolly comes by at the back of the hotel every 15 min and picks you up and stops at almost all the major casinos. Also if u are going to go to the airport the front desk will book you a shuttle to the air port which is $6 each instead of a $20-25 taxi ride they also will hold you're bags after you check out until you're ready to head to the airport. The hotel pool was really nice no deep end but nice :).
All and all it was a great hotel for the price but the location wasnt the greatest I would return to this hotel for sure but if you plan to walk
PACK YOU'RE RUNNERS :)

- Good Visit Stayed at Stratosphere in June 2005. Booked a standart room, cheapest available. Got Tower I room on 21 floor. Actually, it was two rooms in that number. Both rooms rather small, but still it was apleasant surprise. The room was facing the opossite side from the strip so the view to the highway was not that impressive. But hey, I asked for the cheapest room available myself... After reading some of the comments I was expacting to get to a dump. But it was clean and nice rooms, good bathroom, 2 TV-sets (didn't bother to watch any, though...). Even found a fridge for my bear in the room. Check-in was fast & easy (I did check-in at about 3 P.M.). Did not eat there, so cannot judge the food. But the casino was fine. Invested 20 bucks in slots, after 3 hours of playing ended up with 40 $ cash. Reasonable :). Coctail waitresses show up rarely, but the drinks are good. Of course, not the most charming location and neibourghood, but for 40 dollars a night nobody on the Strip can beat them. Monorail stop is at Sahara, so it's only 5-10 minute walk to the Strip anyway. Pool was fine. Lots of space and nice view. Will definitely be back ;).

- Bad Visit I had a disappointing stay at the Stratoshere even though I'm not the snobby demanding type. Basically, this seems to be like a giant Motel 6. I reserved a deluxe room and was given one in Tower II. There was nothing deluxe about the rooms, I can't imagine what a standard room must be like. Our room was dark and small. There is one tiny window. We had the same problem that another reviewer mentioned that the toilets don't flush easily. In addition, the towels smelled like smoke, even though it was a non-smoking room. Granted that one shouldn't have too many expectations given the price. One additional annoyance was the "clientele" that shared rooms one our floor, VERY loud people that kept knocking on doors and even had a screaming match.
Otherwise, the Stratosphere has very generous video machines! And there are some nice comps with the stay. Another advantage, it has one of my favorite Vegas shows: Bite. The Stratoshere is worth visiting and perhaps even staying as long as you get a good price. I wouldn't pay more than $40 to stay here.

Everyone-our casino host, limo driver, entertainment, restaurants, housekeeping, cocktail waitresses etc.-made our stay one to remember. We stayed there from March 6th thru the 11th, and for the most part had a really good time... But, we did encountered some not so good things as well. First the bad, the pool was closed for maintenance, (just bad timing) had a bathroom attendant speak harshly to my girlfriend for using the wrong toilet (she was cleaning, I thought it was funny, girlfriend didn't) and our last two nights there we stayed in one of the casino suites (very nice...) but the 2nd night my girlfriend woke me up at 3:30 AM to tell me that the toilet had over flowed, I told her to mop it up. She said, that she couldn't because there was 3" of water all the way to the bed. She called the front desk, and within minutes there was a bellman to help pack and move us to one of the Grand suites. The bellman said he hoped the guy below us wasn't sleeping with his mouth open. We all laughed.
Now the good. Its inexpensive, all the staff were very friendly, except one of the bathroom attendant, (consider the source) all three rooms were clean and very nice, and they gave us back our money for the last night. The shows were just OK, but they don't cost much either. the rides on top of the tower were scarier than crap... I even did the new one, Insanity. the name is an under statement.

- Bad Visit If you have to sleep on the street or stay at this hotel, you'd be better off sleeping on the street.
My wife and I just came back from Las Vegas, we were out there looking at places to live and interview for jobs. We booked our room at this hotel because the rates were so low and we didn't have the money to stay at a top notch hotel like we do everytime we go to Vegas.
From the sec we stepped into this hotel things went wrong, the check in line was an hour wait due to the fact only 2 people were working the counter. They billed our credit card double what our room costs and it took an act of God to get them to put the credit back on our card.
The room was ok, our window faced the parking structure which I'll get to later. For the next few hours things were ok, we ate room service
"which was good" and then went out around 7:30 to walk the strip. We got back to our room around 11:30 P.M. we were tired from driving to vegas from L.A and looking at apartments all day so we wanted to relax and watch a movie. Around 1:30 A.M Sat night the people in the room next to us started playing music "The walls in this hotel our paper thin" I didn't do anything at first, It's vegas come on. but when the clock hit 3 AM I had to call the front desk to report it.
An hour later a guard came up and told the people next door to keep it down and left, about 15 mins later it started again, I called down again and was told that there was nothing the hotel staff could do because they already gave a warning.
On Sunday I called and spoke to the Asst Manager. I told him the story and all he said was they could move us to another room but couldn't be 100% sure we wouldn't run into the same problem again. Well Sunday night rolled around and my wife and I had interviews early Monday morning, We went to bed around Midnight, at 2 A.M all these car alarms started going off outside our window "The windows are also paper thin" After an hour of hearing alarms going off it finally stopped and we went back to sleep. Well.... at 4 A.M the people next door to us who played to the loud music on Sat night. Came back to there room and started to very loud, graphic sex. To the point that my wife and I could hear everything they were saying to each other and every moan from the woman. I got dressed and went down to the front desk and spoke with the asst manager and told him what was going on, he told me that we cannot go up to a room and tell a guest to keep it down, and if we wanted he could move us to another room. Seems that they don't want to deal with any problems they just want to move people. After yelling at the asst manager I asked for the Hotel Managers number and at first was told they could not give out that info. So I started making a big scene and to shut me up the asst manager finally gave me the number.
I went up to my room, by this time it was a little after 5 A.M, we had to be up at 6:30, the couple next door were still going at it, I called the hotel managers office and left a msg telling him what was going on and how we were being treated by his staff and gave him my cell phone number and room number so we could call me and deal with this problem. To my suprise I never heard from him.
Monday morning we went to get out car from the valet and were told that they didn't know where our car was and the valet was very, very, very rude, we waited for an hour for them to find our car. We ended up being late for our first interviews. We came back to the hotel around 11 A.M and wanted to grab a bite to eat at the deli there, well when I took a bite of my sandwhich I found a nice long hair in my sandwhich. My wife ran to the bathroom and got sick, I went to the deli counter and pulled the hair out of my mouth and demanded to speak to the Food and drink manager, I was told that the manager was in meetings all day but refuned my money.
After that we went to our room to pack and I lft the hotel manager yet another msg but still have not heard back from him.
This hotel is awful. If guests staying at a hotel like, Mirage, Luxor etc has problems like we did, the hotel would have given us a free night or something along those lines. This hotel did nothing but say they would move us to another room. We never even got an "I'm sorry" from anyone on the staff.
The room rates our low for this hotel but the things you have to put up with are not worth it. People please listen to me, this hotel is worse the a shady motel off the strip.
We our still trying to contact the hotel mamanger but I think we will have to call our credit card company and put a stop payment on the card.
This place was hell!

- Good Visit Checked in at 11pm on the 23rd. Was given a World Tower room on the 7th floor. We had a view of a roof, but didn't care as we were in Vegas. Room was clean and maid service took care of it and vacuumed daily. Shower was great and the full flow shower head made life great after a night of drinking. Disliked the fact that in room safes are not used anymore and you must travel down to casino cage for a deposit box. Used the laundry room, which was easy to find. Came home with bag full of clean clothes.
Location is fine and parking with rental in both Valet and self park was breeze. We were able to get anywhere on the strip in 10 minutes or less by taking Industrial or Paradise. The casino is large, but IMO, not utilized to the extent that it should be. The staff was always very friendly, but drink service was hit or miss. The bars were dead almost the whole stay, so the nightlife wasn't as enjoyable as I wish it would have been. (quick ride down the strip cured any problems) Still, there was more action on this trip happening in the casino than I had ever seen before. Only had a burger at the Crazy Armadillo one night and it was good. Ate elsewhere the rest of the trip.
Do not believe the reviews that say it is dangerous to stay there, bad neighborhood etc. We went walking around on several occasions around 2am and never had a problem. In fact, all areas of the hotel and garage are very well lit and the neighborhood is cleaning up. Houses are getting refurbed and there is a large new park that was built in the last several years.
I will stay there again as long as offers come my way or I cannot find something very, very cheap mid strip. The Stratosphere offers a good combination of value for your gambling and hotel dollar.

- Good Visit We stayed at the Stratosphere on a Sunday/Monday and got an awesome rate - only 25 bucks a night. For that amount of money I'd say its the best thing on the strip. The room was clean, the casino is modern and the staff was friendly. I also loved the big screen TV's they seem to put randomly around the entire resort. No matter where I was in the place I could always get a score on the Monday Night Football game. We had breakfast at Lucky's which was just fine - we didn't try the buffet. They gave us free tickets to the Viva Las Vegas show was worthwhile. One of the nicest things I like about this hotel is that it is laid out very efficiently. No matter where you are you can get to anything else in the hotel quickly: parking garage, casino, restaurants, your room - all easy to get to. Compare that to Caesars where its a 10 mile hike to get from your room to the shops and the casino.
The bottom line is this - the Stratosphere isn't as glamourous as some of the newer resorts but it is a heck of alot cheaper and the rooms are very nice and clean. Dollar for dollar you can't beat it. I do have one complaint, however. The hotel room walls were rather thin. I could hear people in the next room talking as if they were in our room. Otherwise its a peach!

We stayed at the Stratosphere for two nights on the weekend. For the price we paid we did indeed get a great deal. Like many listing in their reviews, location can be a drag at times if you have plans to see more things on the strip. (However the Trolley comes every 15 minutes, and taxi's are right out the front door) - All in all our stay was a pleasant one. Our room was clean and tidy - There were a few stains on the carpet - etc. from age. But nothing we couldn't live with. One lady on the elevator stated she was one of those "lucky" tourists that got a room that hadn't been cleaned yet upon check un- Our wait in line to check in wasn't long at all. Maybe 10-15 minutes during lunch time. Check out was a breeze.
Staff was courteous through-out or stay.
The Stratosphere isn't as glamourous as the Bellagio, Paris, or Venetian - then again your not paying for all that either. Still we saw the Viva Las Vegas Show, American SuperStars, and toured the tower. Good visit overall!
We averaged $8 - $15 taxi fares with tips ($15 being longest trips going to airports etc.) The Trolley had a $5.00 day pass (but does take a while to get to places with all the stops it makes) -

- Good Visit I have usually stayed at the Stratosphere during my visits to Las Vegas. I've probably been there 5-6 times. It's a great value with easy comps, clean rooms and friendly staff. You could stay in many worse places (and I have, Downtown and Boulder Hwy!) I can't understand why people rate this hotel so poorly. Admittedly, it's pretty far up on the Strip, so you probably want to rent a car if you stay here (but you can do that at the hotel, if you want.)
There really is more to Vegas than the Mirage, Venetian, Wynn, etc. I'm not into crowds, which is another reason I prefer the Strat. By Strip standards, it's not as obnoxious as some of the places in the Tropicana or Flamingo corridors. I generally prefer the small casinos on Boulder during the evening, but love the Strat during off-peak times.

- Good Visit This was the hotel we stayed at on our first Vegas trip. It was a great experience overall. We checked in late at night so there was no line there. Our room had wonderful decor, comfy beds, and an AMAZING view of downtown. Room cost was unbelievably cheap for a strip hotel; I would HIGHLY recommend this place for visitors on a budget. The cafe had a great, well priced breakfast. The casino seemed to provide the standard casino experience. Honestly, I don't really gamble so I don't pay much attention to the casinos.
As for the rides on top, we only had the backbone to go on the "roller coaster". It shouldn't be called a coaster because it doesn't have hills and doesn't go fast. I'd call it more of a "peoplemover", and it makes a perfect way to get an amazing view of Vegas.
People complain about this hotel's "lousy" location on the strip but if you ask me, it's wonderful. It's all in who you are. My buddy and I love to walk. We walked up and down the strip the first full day we were there and loved it. To us, it's a way to walk off all the extra calories from the buffets! We also consider ourselves explorers. The Strat's location between downtown and the rest of the strip was perfect for us... between the 24 hour bus pass for $5 and all the walking, we explored the heck out of both areas during our three day trip! Plus, we both love history. If we had stayed at Mandalay Bay, all the glitz on that end of the strip might have distracted us from the rich history available in the downtown area!
I would without question stay in this hotel again, especially if I wanted to free up more $$ for the more important things like the BELLAGIO'S BUFFET!! :)

- Good Visit I stayed at the stratosphere 10/30/04 - 11/01/04 I found my stay to be a pleasant one Thank God I was uneasy after reading some of the other reviewsmy room was a nice size it was clean no complaints about houskeeping the only thing I would say something about is when guest are asking questions "staff please don,t act like "duh" are you stupid or what." I know you might have been asked the same question a hundred times already but it is your job to answer questions casino games (slots) could have been looser but you can't win all the time didn't have to use money for food used my comps so all in all it was pleasant.

- Good Visit Good Value. It's certainly not the Wynn or the Bellagio, but you get a lot for small money. Casino is big and very nice, Buffet is ok, rooms aren't luxurious but big enough and clean. Pool area could be bigger, but is nicely located atop the building. Be sure not to get a room on the 6th floor: All the pool visitors have to use that floor to go to the pool - a lot of noise.
Hotel is located in the middle of nowhere between the strip and Fremont St., but shuttle buses stop in front of the casino. Very nice and friendly staff, checkin was fast and with no problems. They sell you a Resort booklet with some coupons for $5, which is called "Resort Fee" or sth like that. Remember that you get a free ride to the observation deck of the tower around noon when you are a hotel guest.

- Good Visit I was a little nervous after reading some of the comments here, but I was very impressed with the value and quality of the hotel. Service at the front desk was prompt and courteous, rooms were in decent shape and the hotel reflected far and beyond anything I could have gotten for the price on the Strip. If there is one complaint, it would be the view (or lack of) on the lower floors.

- Undecided Stayed at Stratosphere over Labor Day weekend. It was an OK value, the best we could find on short notice via Travelworm. I called the hotel directly to take them up on their "we'll beat any price you find on the internet" guarantee that they have on the Stratosphere web site. No dice, the clerk said that the internet offer excluded holidays, and the best price they could offer was $10-$30 higher (charging more for Saturday, and no military discount, I asked). No big deal, I went ahead and booked with travelworm for $84 a night.
One plus, the Stratosphere is really hard to miss if you haven't driven to Vegas before. You can see it from ten miles away and they're the first big hotel after you exit onto the strip. It goes downhill from here - - parking to register was confusing, the valet gave vague instructions, I drove around and then back to the valet, getting a different set of vague directions. Drove around again, and ended up just parking on the fifth floor and toting all our stuff into the lobby. First room we checked into (old tower) hadn't been made up, the beds had both been slept in, there were towels on the floor, the toilet lid wouldn't stay up, plus it was a smoking room (our reservations were for nonsmoking). My wife called downstairs while I was discovering the faulty toilet lid, and she talked the clerk (very helpful) into an upgrade. The clerk directed us to the main lobby, not the side lobby we'd used to check in the first time. Back down 14 floors, look for the main lobby. This lobby had a different clerk who was unresponsive when asked to double-check the upgrade, but the previous clerk had indeed already upgraded us to a New Tower room. Back up, this time to the 22nd floor. It was another smoking room (did I mention that we'd reserved nonsmoking?), but we decided to go with it and request a change if it triggered the wife's allergies. Room was *slightly* newer than the previous, with a good view, plus the toilet seat stayed up. Upgrade achieved.
The Stratosphere probably hated us because we did not eat or gamble there, other than a very nice midnight breakfast at Lucky's (highly recommended - their steak and eggs as promoted on posters throughout the casino was a good value and just what the doctor ordered after a few beverages elsewhere).
The biggest drawback of the Stratosphere is location. The hotel is just way too far from anything to try to walk, plus it's not in a good neighborhood. At least not unless you want to get that tattoo you've always dreamed of, or maybe pick up some stolen merchandise. Or maybe have some of your own merchandise stolen. I planned on having a few drinks, so we took the bus south to the Bellagio area to see the fountain on our first night. The bus was dirty, crowded, and not a comfortable scene - - we either drove or used a cab after that first night. Did not check out the monorail as it was closed for repairs while we were there.
In all, the Stratosphere was a reasonable value, but considering the cab fees it just makes more sense to stay closer to where you're going to play. I doubt we'll stay there again even if they offer $29 per room.

- Good Visit Hi, Me and the wife stayed at the Stratosphere from 28th Sept to 3 October 2004, it was our second time coming from Australia, and it won't be the last. We love Vegas so many things to do, enjoyed our stay, hey you get what you pay for, our room was nice, food was good, staff pleasant, price was good, and the travelling to the centre of the strip was constant. Next time we will spent a bit more money and stay in the centre area to save on the travelling. Regards from you Aussie Friends.

- Good Visit Prior to my trip I read other reviews and remained unbiased until I got to experience it for myself. Price was good, requested the new premiere tower and had no problems. I was charged $5/day fee..no surprise. The room was clean, no foul odor, always cool. Fast check in line, but later discovered another check in line that was more busy which was in the main lobby. Complimentaries were average. Free admission to the tower between 10a-12p. Viva las vegas show was worth the price, heard lots of laughs. Breakfast at the courtyard buffet was great. My fiance and I were out of the hotel most of the day and evening. Self parking was a breeze. I suggest you park on the 3rd floor, which has doors that leads straight to the casino and back area registration. Location may be far for others, but it was convenient for us. We had a car, but we also took the Las vegas monorail which was a block away. I must say, the monorail was very convenient and I felt safe walking the block back to the hotel. Casino...not much action here. Craps table was always full though. Overall, my fiance and I had a very pleasant stay and will definitely stay here again. Very satisfied with no complaints! - Good Visit I was leery about staying at this hotel, because I always read so-so reviews, but I got a great deal and went ahead. I was very happy I did so! we stayed in a Suite, which I highly recommend. The room was huge and very nice. The staff at the front desk were very helpful. I had been quoted an upgrade rate on the phone which apparently was not correct. They gave me that rate though, no problems. We got into our room at 10 a.m., even though checkin is not until 3:00 p.m. Maid service, great. Casino had low limits. Everything was superb. The best thing was the suite rooms had a special elevator that was right next to the doors, no walking through the entire hotel and casino to get to your room. Gotta love that.

- Bad Visit What a bad experience from start to finish. Husband requested a 22d floor room because he wanted a view - no window in the room. There once was a window but it was boarded up and they didn't even remove the curtain rods on the ceiling. Sink was leaking from back of faucet and traveling to front dripping down the front of me every time I washed my hands, etc. Made 4 requests to have it repaired to no avail. The hostess at the buffet even called for me, still no repair. The room was not clean and certainly not attractive. Clean would have sufficed. The buffet was blah with the same selections the entire 5 days. However, Lucky's Cafe was pretty good for breakfast. The casino is quite outdated - the same machines that were there when I just visited quite a few years ago. The only plus was it wasn't crowded - for obvious reasons - no one was hanging around that hotel and no one was winning no matter what they were playing. After the first day and a half we spent our time and money in the newer casinos further down the strip and even on Fremont St. which is 100% cleaner and friendlier than the Stratosphere. I have been to L.V. approximately 15 times, staying at many of the hotels, both on the strip and downtown and have never felt like issuing a complaint until this visit.

- Bad Visit Could be a good place, but the staff is horrible. It started at check-in when the person at the front desk could not communicate at all. He messed up our entire reservation and we got severely over charged. Talking to a manager mildly helped the situation, but she was belligerant - not quite what you'd expect from a manager.
The casino staff was cold at best and one roulette pit boss basically stole a few dollars in chips from me. I had chips left over from craps when I went to roulette, I must have dropped a few as I pulled them from my pocket. The pit boss came over after a few minutes and told me to move aside. He proceeded to pick up the chips and put them in the dealer tip jar. Equally frustrating was these dealer's didn't deserve any tips!
There were several more incidents with rude/cold staff throughout the week. The best things about the stratosphere are the single 0 roulette table, full pay back machines and 10x craps odds. These provide good gaming values limiting the house edge.
We ate at the Top of the World restaraunt. VERY pricey with decent food.
If you're looking for a friendly environment, forget this place. If you can deal with the rudeness and want a good gaming value, go for it, but stay somewhere else.

- Undecided Spent four free nights at the Stratosphere and I don't know whether I will stay here again. Two visits in a row with a horrible experience playing video poker -- unlike our other stays at Stratosphere. Maybe it was just a run of bad luck, but it seemed odd. I had to look all over the place for the "full pay" video poker machines. As far as their video poker inventory, it was the same old machines as it has always been. Nothing new and some of my favorites (like triple play video poker with nickels) have been removed and replaced with slot machines. I paid extra for a room with a view of the strip and it was barely a view of the strip. The pool are is nice, not fancy but large with a nice hot tub. Had breakfast in the coffee shop each morning -- prices are reasonable -- food was good. Had one dinner buffet and I was pleasantly surprised. The last time we ate the buffet it was mediocre. This time is was actually good. Stratosphere is wonderful at sending offers for free or discounted rooms in the mail, but with its location and the seemingly tight video poker machines, I think we will be staying elsewhere from now on.

- Bad Visit BEWARE, THEY STEAL IN THE VALET PARKING
That's what happen to us this February 2004. In short, this is what happen to us. When we got to the casino we decided to leave the car at their valet parking while we went to register. Then we went up to the room (which the electronic entrance card DID NOT work) to relax. Then came back to pick up the car. But, to our surprise our car was vandalized, things were stolen from inside the car and the truck. Worse yet, the theft was perpetuated by the employees of the valet parking.
Why I say this? Because there were not broken windows and the doors were locked. They stole from us several things: a TV/Radio/CD Player combo, music CDs, sunglasses, prescription eyeglasses and a digital camera. All these were not left for people to see. They wore hidden in the car and back in the trunk. Looking back, I regret the decision not to take EVERYTHING from the car to the room.
Right there, when we got the car we complain to the valet parking people, to the hotel security, and to the hotel's Director of Risk Management (supposedly he was going to take care of it). But, their answer was: "the casino is not liable for theft unless the car is vandalized, i.e., broken windows" and that "there are no video cameras at the valet parking lot" (yeah sure, every where else there are cameras but not here, how convenient). So they cannot do a thing.
SO, DON'T STAY AT THIS HOTEL, IT'S NOT WORTH IT.

- Bad Visit Booked the room on line due to some very good internet marketing - but once you get there BEWARE!!! Not as advertised.
The casino comps were not honored. Don't even bother joining the Players Club.
The room worn out and very dirty. Looks like all they did was change the linens. The door to the room was broken - NO DEADBOLT.
Ate at the breakfast buffet and got sick.
This is NOT sour grapes but a true accounting of a very miserable experience.
BUYER BEWARE!!!!!
