- Good Visit Westward Ho has now closed up, permanently. All the ratings can only be used as memory of the property. Yes, there were good and bad parts to this property but it was a great option for people on a budget. It will surely be missed. What's going to be built over the Ho? Plans are for million dollar condos.

- Good Visit The Western Ho was one in a million. They treated the average working stiff like royalty. They gave you a ton of perks(free food and drinks)have the friendliest staff on the strip who always made you feel welcome and very special. I had a great time playing eating and drinking in the one of the last of the Old Las Vegas casinos. It was just a great time. I was happy to be able to go back one last time before the wrecking ball takes this place (Nov17) of very happy memories away from us who really enjoyed a great time in this establishment. Where else on the Strip could you have a great time gambling, eating and drinking on the cheap and still be treating like you were a millionare. Pretty soon the large corporations will have their way and all there will be are the palaces dedicated to taking every dime you that jingles in your pocket instead of making sure you are enjoying your hard earned vacation. Thirty dollar buffets, six dollar bar drinks and tight slots--forget it. We had dollar Import beer and fantastic bar drinks, loose slots and great food. Beast of all warm and friendly staff. Goodby Westward HO

Hey, you get what you pay for!!! This hotel was fine for a place to crash after a long day of exploring Las Vegas and the surrounding countryside. If you require luxury or will roll your nose at musty old smells, dont stay here! Even a can of lysol could not get rid of the old, must room odor.

Visited the Ho for the first time on 7/5/05. I had heard about the .05 cup of coffee and needed some caffine. NO luck on that. No more cheap java. But we had a good time. Cheeep frozen drinks. FREE Ice cream sundaes. Really cheap food. Fairly loose slots. Monopoly and WoF were hitting, an Elvis ( one of many in Vegas) was singing, and we were getting buzzed. Left a few bucks up. What more could you want on a hot Vegas afternoon?

- Good Visit Ok...thought it would be a challange to myself to stay in a hotel that has word HO in it :)
To my shock- it was the cleanest place i have stayed in. Sahara- had bloddy sheets. Stratosphere-
water didnt go down.
This place was perfectly clean, clean sheets, clean carpet. even though it was a smoking room- it
smelled like noone ever smoked in there. and get this- BATHTUB. motel 6 doesnt have bathtubs. this
one does. and ITS ON THE STRIP. IN THE MIDDLE OF EVERYTHING. great cheap drinks. Dirty
casino....smelly. but we are talking about the hotel :) there is a ca-fe something in there- DONT EAT
THERE. u will pay dearly for it. Staff is super nice. check-in was a breeze. bad food. great people.
loose slots. cheap drinks :) great clean rooms. they are not fancy- but for $30 a night u cant do
better :))
would defenetly stay there again.

- Bad Visit We decided not to walk through the smut pushers and pimp looking people to get in. Reminded me of Compton or Harlem...but not as nice. Surprised a cop wasn't stationed outside the door. I have read of people saying if you want the Wynn stay there.... but I doubt the Wynns garbage room looks this bad. BTW we stayed at the Sahara so we are not Wynn budgeted people ...but sleeping in my car would have been preferred over this. Clean up the mess Ho... lots of money lost I'm sure due to your outdoor smut/ junkie hangout atmosphere.

- Good Visit My all time favorite gambling experience. I had a ball everytime I visited. The Westward Ho had all of the classic old Vegas charm, and then some. I was treated great on my first visit back in October 1996. Continued to play Black Jack there whenever I visited Vegas. I am nostalgic for that old time friendly Vegas casino flavor. Good times there. Lots of laughs and incredibly friendly patrons. Great attitudes at the "HO".

- Good Visit We have stayed at the "HO" twice now with no problems. Not at all fancy - but good, clean rooms. (Why go fancy when all we do is sleep there anyway?) Felt very very safe as there are security guards checking people driving in as well as a security guard at the rear door of the casino out to where the rooms are. Have walked alone to and from my room in the middle of the night and never felt in danger. The service was great and the drink special are SWEET! Avoid the Mega-Dog at all costs - that is a gut bomb! Play slots there and they are pretty loose - the new "HO" casino has great food deals and they are tasty. Casino at the new "HO" is pretty small. Will be there again for the unbeatable deal on New Year's rooms!

- Good Visit Actually the last time we were out there & stayed at the WW/Ho was 1999 or so. It was GREAT! ALL of it. The STAFF is what makes your Hotel & they did! The food at the Cafe was Wonderful!! The singing egg maker we so enjoyed too. How could you not? Even the bus boys, wait staff too.Deli food & staff, great! I find in life you so appreciate all the small things....which the WW/Ho DID for its patrons. THANKS WW HO for ALL OF OUR STAYS. We liked the Casino. We did our share of gambling there & did very well.We hated to see it sold at or around befor 1998...anyway,we have Wonderful MEMORIES there & will never forget it or all the people we met there. Thanks for allowing us to share our experience there. Sorry to see it close up & turn into a High Rise. Only memories left now. Don & Zerlene

- Bad Visit Upon arriving at the Westward Ho we found out that it was a strip motel not a hotel, the rooms wern't attached to the casino. We paid an extra $67.00 to be upgraded to the closest room to the casino and we told at check in that we booked for a queensize bed which was impossible since I wasn't about to spend an entire week in the same bed with my friend. We were told by the front desk that they'd have to relocate us but that we'd still be close to the casino. Their idea of being close to the casino was out the back door, accross the driveway, around beside McDonalds, the back of the motel in room 604. The room was small, smelled of vomit and urine, the TV only got 5 stations, black hair all over the shower wall and the toilet was dirty. Later that night at around midnight a fight started in the next room. After an hour and a half of fighting it became violent and we had to call security. The Las Vegas police department was called as well. All of this took place right outside our room for four hours. At 6:30 am we decided that we needed to get out of that dump and contacted our travel agent. They immediately got us a room at the Imperial Palace. Do not stay at the Westward Ho....that place is a DUMP!

- Good Visit I have stayed at the HO at least 2 times a year for the past 10 years or longer. It is not the Wynn but for a night at the Wynn you can stay at the HO for a week or longer. I do most of my gambling there as the dealers are friendly as are all the casino staff. Due to this my rooms are comped as well as the twice weekly show in the showroom. If you get a chance (even if you pay the $20 for it) the show and dinner are really good, especially for the price. I like steak so the Grubstake Jamboree is my favorite but been to all. I too like the parking in front of your room as I always rent a car, and if we stayed any place else the hike to the car can be a good ways. I have experienced (once or maybe even twice) a room that did not meet my expectations, but a walk to the front desk and immediate change of room took care of it. Both times were due to the room smelling of smoke, even though it was supposed to be a non smoking room. The rooms are older but for the most part well kept. I agree with whoever said think Motel 6, but it is at Motel 6 prices. We used to stay at Circus Circus because of the cheaper price for the room but prices went up and though it has always been kid friendly it has gotten waaaayyyyy too kid friendly. I have stayed at the MGM Grand and I did not find the rooms to be so wonderful that I would want to go back again even if I didn't have to pay $130+ a night. The room we were in was every bit as far from the casino as the rooms at the back of the HO. Bottom line is, you can't and won't beat the price vs. value at any other place on the Strip.

- Good Visit It's all relative really. We spent $170 for three nights at the Ho and found it to be fine for our needs. The room was clean and not run down. Parking outside your room was a perk. The walk to the casino, if you choose to do so is not bad. This is a great hotel for people looking for a clean room to sleep in after a long night on the strip. Not advised to use this hotel as a romantic get away.

- Good Visit We've stayed at Westward Ho 3x's now .. no problems ANY of the stays. Were there again in 2005 from Feb.7-14, inclusively and had a great time. We take exception to comments made by hunneybee471 of Komoka, Ont. on Feb.6/05 and feel maybe THEY should take part of the blame for their stay. WHO would allow themselves to be taken to a room that smelled of urine and vomit and then ACCEPT the room??? Not us .. we would have immediately insisted on being moved to another room which had been properly cleaned. They also need to blame their TRAVEL AGENT .. the website for Westward Ho specifically states all RUN OF THE HOUSE rooms to have 2 double beds; all FRONT rooms to have 1 queen bed only. Didn't the TRAVEL AGENT research this??? Blame the TRAVEL AGENT!! Also, how can they blame WESTWARD HO for the fight next door?!?!? Unbelievable!! As stated, we've stayed at Westward Ho 3x's now ... 2x's in RUN OF HOUSE rooms, 1x in FRONT room. Unfortunately, I must say the extra cost for FRONT room is not worth it .. room is not any nicer; the only thing you are basically paying extra for is the shorter walk to the casino; that's all. We won't book FRONT again; we'll save our money and get some exercise and book RUN OF THE HOUSE again. We got FREE lunch each day, FREE drinks each day (whether we gambled or not); we consider it to be EXCEPTIONAL value, especially when trip for 7 nites/8 days from Detroit->Vegas & return only cost $394.14 US/person .. this included ALL taxes, flight to & from Vegas, & accomodations (remember the freebies, too!). Don't forget, we paid Xtra $45/person to upgrade to FRONT, which we wouldn't do again .. if we hadn't done that, cost would have been $349.14 US/person for flight & accomodations. How the heck can you beat that?!?! And what you end up getting is a clean room; free lunch/drinks each day of your stay; $5 discount per person to weekly dinner/show upstairs of Westward Ho (was great fun!); a small, intimate, fun casino to play in (not a big honkin' impersonal casino like further down the strip); and the 300/301 buses stop right out front of Westward Ho if you choose to visit other casinos down the strip ($5 bus pass takes you wherever you want in Vegas during a full 24 hour period - great value). Come on people - when booking Westward Ho, if you THINK you're going to be staying at the Taj Mahal for such a low price, think again!! Book somewhere else, for a much larger cost!! As they say, you get what you pay for .. but WE feel we get far more whenever we stay at Westward Ho. We love it! We're mid-fifties in age! We're realistic and don't assume 'AIRS' when we go to Vegas! And WE'LL be back!!!! We're countin' the days ..

- Undecided I am in the service industry and the room at Westward Ho needed new carpet, a new toilet, curtains that stayed shut without being pinned shut, secure locks on the door, a TV with more than 7 or 8 channels, and a housekeeping staff that knew how to vacuum and clean a bathtub and toilet. If the policy is to change the linens every 2nd day then you should be advised of that before you check in or with a note stating so in the room. The casino staff were friendly and efficient and the cafe wait staff were efficient but most looked terribly unhappy about working. Maybe a few smiles and a nice hello, good to see you again today would have been nice. The freebies were certainly an incentive. Our visit was busy so we were only in the room to sleep which was a good thing. I would not wanted to spend any length of time there if I wasn't sleeping.

- Good Visit Stayed at the Ho for 5 nites all comped rooms for slot tournement. Room was Vintage 50's but clean and comfortable. Only used the room for sleeping which was quiet and nice. The casino folks were friendly and the food was great. Played alot of video poker, slots and some table games. Short term playing slots was profitable but the longer you sit the more coins they keep. Slot tournement was fun and only took up an hour a day for the three day event. Look forward to returning to vegas and would recomend this cheep close to mostly everything casino. Only negative was croud was quite senior in age but had great time at younger venues across the street and down town. You can not beat the Ho for Value and the low roller gets treated quite nicely.

- Bad Visit I stayed over the weekend and the only reason we chose this place was because of the low rate. The room was a DUMP!! The smell was funny, the room was tiny and the room wasn't cleaned after we checked in at 7:00 PM. It was just a bad experience. The room was so far away from the casino and when we tried to use the shuttle service, we got sick of waiting and just walked up. I would not recommend this dump to anyone!!

- Good Visit This is an old style smaller casino with rooms on the back lot, similar to a Holiday Inn. The fun thing about this place is the laid back atmosphere, campy lounge acts that play while you are gambling, and those fabulous 99 cent Margaritas, $1.49 cent jumbo (and I do mean JUMBO) chili-dogs, and the $1.49 Strawberry Shortcake that can easily feed 2 or 3 people. It's just plain FUN!!!!! My wife and I always look forward to going back every time we visit Vegas. We don't always stay at the Westward Ho Hotel, but we never miss a visit to the casino. It's a nice break from the glitz of the Mega Casinos. Try it...I think that you'll like it!

- Good Visit Nice place, and cheap. It's not fancy, but the rooms are clean, albeit a little small (think Motel6). Decent soap and shampoo in the rooms, but the ice costs 25 cents. Security was never an issue - the lots are well-lit, they have a shuttle to take you to the back of the property, and we never went long without seeing a security person somewhere. The blackjack is good at $3 minimums, but the craps stinks (it never went below $5 minimum w/ 2x odds the whole time, although it was Labor Day weekend). Dealers were friendly for the most part. All in all, if you're looking for a fairly decent, fairly cheap, fairly safe place to stay without a lot of frills, this fits just fine.

- Good Visit Stayed twice in 2004, once in summer and once in fall. First time there, stayed in room in far back with two beds. Some people complains about the distance but it was not that bad. Much shorter than walking from garage to casino in some other big resorts. 2nd time, stayed in closer room with one bed. Got coffee maker at room this time. Both room were clean. The air condtioner in room is kind of loud but didn't care much because we didn't go to sleep until really tired and sleepy. Another perk in staying there was free lunch for everyday and the unlimited beaverage tickets. The lunch was not bad for free. Saving bunch so it can be spent on the main purpose. Gambling! Usually got drink while playing games but did use the drink ticket to get waters, etc. occasionally. Very useful. Casino has 8 progressive jackpot 9/6 VP machines but other than that, not that great place for gambling. Not very good BJ rules. Slots seem tight, too. Went to downtown to play games during the day and mostly played in Slots A Fun which is next to Ho at late night. Location is good. Close to other places. Also the CAT bus stop is right in front of the casino. Everyday we bought $5 dialy bus ticket and used it to get to downtown and south strip. Overall, good value.

- Good Visit Met a group of 17 friends here for a stay of 8 days for the SuperBowl. Rooms and all food comped for wife and I due to our visit with this group last SuperBowl. We were in one of the first rooms off the back door of the casino so no long walk for us. Its nice to be able to park your car in front of your room and take only three steps to be in your room. Its quite a hike to your car from your room at the big resorts. Rooms was clean and basic. Did have coffee pot and hair dryer. Food is average at the Ca-Fae-some good pub food at the new HO. If your a true gambler try to finish a Ho dog. Casino personel nice and friendly. Though the wife didn't win on the machines enough to come out ahead she still had plenty of hits that kept her happy. If you take this place for what it is-a spartan motel with a casino-you won't be disappointed. If you think your going to a resort you better go farther south down the strip.

- Undecided We didn't stay at the Westward Ho - we were staying across the street at the Riviera, but we spent a lot of time in the casino because you just get a lot for your money there. I mean, where can you find coffee for a nickel and beer for 75 cents? LOL! Plus, the Ho is one of the few places in Vegas that has daytime entertainment, and for free yet. We saw Dale McKenzie on a Thursday afternoon, and he was really good - exceptional voice, and lots of variety. We hit him with a few requests, and he knew them all. We came back later and caught a bit of Sam & Danny - they were kind of raunchy but fun. We may just stay at the Ho next time we are in town.

- Good Visit To go to Vegas for a few days inexpensively, I tried the Southwest special to the Westward Ho. To make a long story short - I liked it a lot - escpecially for the value. It is like you'd imagine a typical Vegas place to be back in the old days - when specials were king and times were good. My room was like I'd imagine a nice two story motel room would be anywhere - with a small coffee pot. It was close to a lot of fun places nearby. The north end of the strip is older and more worn down than the center & south - but I was really glad to visit there. Circus-Circus, Slots-of-Fun, the Rivera and the Stardust are all real close by. The CAT (Citizens Area Transit) [public bus] stops out front and goes up and down the strip - to downtown - all day for a $5.00 day pass - so I went everywhere from the Bellagio to the Golden Nugget and had a blast. I didn't mind coming back to the Westward Ho to sleep at all. The place was fine by me and I think the staff tried to put their best foot forward throughout. I will definately go back there again someday. I think the place has it's own nostalgia. You can have a blast in Vegas for a low price.

- Good Visit The Westward Ho is really a great place to stay at the Strip if you like to park your vehicle in front of your room. It's a motel and not a hotel and can hardly be compared with the large casinos in the neighborhood. I was surprised by the quality of their rooms - they were much better than expected for the usually affordable rates they have. They have tight-but-always-friendly-security and I never worried about something getting lost or stolen. The front desk staff does their job quite professional. I never had any problem with messages delivered to my room. They even sent a telephone mechanic when they couldn't reach me because I had unplugged my phone for internet access! The Westward Ho has some cool bargains: Where else on the strip do you get a coffee for a nickel without playing? Although they serve 99¢ Margaritas to the young crowd, I have never seen anyone causing problems because he was drunk! The table games have low limits ($1 craps 24/7!!!), but the slot selection is bad. On the second floor they have a huge showroom and the dinner shows costs about the price for buffet-only at many other Strip casinos. Only one negative thing: If you want to check-in early - forget it! The housekeeping is extremly busy and they really do a good job, but they will finish many rooms just before check-in at 3:30 PM.

- Good Visit Just got back from the ho and considering my last stay in vegas was at the mirage i was expecting the worst. I have to say i was soooo pleasantly surprised that our rooms were very clean the walk from casino to our room was five minutes tops and we were all the way in the back. the first day i was worried about security but to my surprise there were police on bikes everywhere. i felt extremely safe. there were also really nice shuttles back and forth if you don't want to walk. i highly recommend this hotel for a weekend getaway or for people who aren't super hoity toity and picky. i thought it was a great deal and the buffet was magnificent!! all in all great price great food great service regular motel 6 type of room and very clean. i will stay there from now on when i go to vegas.

- Good Visit Haven't stayed at the Westward Ho, but, in visiting on many occasions over the years, can best describe the place as "old-time Vegas," which means clean, friendly service, and packed with value. The Westward Ho, while sitting on what is potentially a very valuable piece of real estate, has, thankfully, not forgotten about the real people of our nation, those who are NOT part of the jet-set or the wanna-be set that popular culture would like to portray.
This past June, I had the pleasure of enjoying the seasonal opening night performance of the "Fabulous 50s Doo-Wop Reunion Dinner and Show" which was, for the money, one of the best, most fun-filled performances I have ever seen in my several years of traveling to Las Vegas.
When visiting the next time, consider that show, which is located in the second floor ballroom above the casino. The price is far less than $20 per person, (nearly half that with a coupon) and includes everything...a buffet dinner, unlimited mixed drinks, and a great show with a live band.

- Good Visit THE BEST THING ABOUT MY WHOLE TRIP TO LAS VEGAS WAS THE LOUNGE ACT-MICHAEL KENNEDY. Talk about an entertainer. I did not stay at the Westward Ho, but at the excellent hotel next door-the Stardust. Me and 3 other friends (2 guys and 2 girls) went over to the "HO" to check it out because we liked the name. We caught Kennedy's TRIBUTE TO ELVIS and we're just in awe. We went back to his show the next 4 days we were there. It's not that he was the best singer in the world (hard to compete with the real deal) but he had the moves and gestures to a T. If you go to this show, keep an eye out for the "monkey dance" performed in the song "TIGER MAN" (king of the jungle, is what we called it) One of the guys I went with liked it as much as I did (MC) and now we are planning a trip to Graceland. We will be visiting Vegas again in a couple of months and the first thing on our list of to do's is SEE MICHAEL KENNEDY. My boyfriend got a little jealous because I was just cheering like a 13 year old girl. Those outfits and moves really did it for me. My friend MC tries to practice the moves in the mirror, but he will never be as smooth as THE KENNEDY. LOVE YA MAN. HOPE YOU READ THIS

- Good Visit I stayed at the "HO" last year (04) and have just booked another trip for this June. At @$35/ night weekday it is tough to beat if you are looking for a deal and don't plan on spending much time in your room. My room was OK...A/C a bit loud and carpet a bit dingy...but again, for $35 on the strip it is tough to beat. (I like how you can go to the website and look at the calendar and rates--which differ greatly--so make sure you review the calendar as the dates you go can save you $$$.) The staff was hot and cold on friendliness, depending on who you met, but i basically used it as a place to flop and prime on $1 beers before heading to other casinos/nightclubs. I have been reading how some folks have been receiving free lunch and drinks with their stay-- how do i get in on that??? Overall, the "HO" is a quaint inexpensive place that i look forward to staying at again in a few weeks. I enjoy nicer hotels too, but the very small time i will be in my room, why pay more?

- Good Visit just returned from a week long holiday at the westward ho and i have to say that it is a fantastic place, ok it is not the luxor but it doesn't claim to be and the service far exceeds that of the luxor. Keith the head breakfast chef is great fun and check in was no hassle, the room was spotless and a lot larger than i expected, i cannot understand why anyone would give this hotel a bad rating it is ideally placed on the strip and close to all the amenities the centre has to offer. The staff are friendly and attentive i simply cannot fault the place. I think most of the complaints seem to be from people booking it thinking it was going to be the bellagio when it quite clearly is not and doesn't claim to be. I will definetly be back as soon as ican get the holiday time and spare cash as flights from scotland are quite pricey. To jeannita at the westward ho thanks for all your assustance during our stay, you are a true star.

- Good Visit Just returned from a three night stay at the westward ho in late april. We booked our trip through southwest airlines and got the westward ho special- free unlimited drinks and free lunch daily. What a good deal!,the lunches were great and the unlimited drinks at the bar were outstanding-especially for those of us who really like to party in vegas!! The rooms can be compared to a motel 6 style and they were very clean. The swimming pools and hot tubs were very clean and functional.Beware of other strip hotels charging up to $5.00 for a bottle of beer and $6.00 for a well drink! This hotel and drink package really saves you money if you have a budget. Thanks southwest air and the westward ho for a great time again in vegas.

- Good Visit We stayed here last weekend and were pleasantly surprised. The rooms had new carpets and very clean rooms. The room (463) was right in front of the pool and jacuzzi. The property had plenty of security to make you feel comfortable. I will definetly stay here again.

- Bad Visit you would truly be better off staying at a motel 6 or simular roadside establishment. the water in the showers fluxuate from hot to cold, hookers frequent the parking lot, and their cafe gave me food poisoning. there are no alarm clocks or hair dryers and they get only 8 television channels. the only word suitable for this establishment is white trash...

- Good Visit Stayed at the HO 3 times. The first time was the best. I walked into the casino was not to impressed with it. Check in was a little long but that was ok. When we got our key I asked were the elevator was. I think the whole casino broke out in laughter (Including my wife). Well after the ride on the cart, we arrived at our room. This place is a Motel 6. However we got the 2 and a half bedroom, 2 bathroom "Suite" (HAHAHA). When you sat on the couch dust would fly up. The furniture was so old I'm sure it belonged to Marilyn Monroe. Amateur of fact I thought I saw her ghost walking around. I loved it. Our next two stays were not so eventful because we stayed in the smaller rooms, which were not anything special. Casino was fun but small. Loved the pool, it was not special either but not crowded. Last thought. Someone mentioned blowing up the HO, well your wish will come true. The HO will close its doors at 5pm on November 17.

- Good Visit Great value for a location on the strip! We stayed three nights here in the rooms directly behind the casino. We had to pay ten extra dollars a night for that little upgrade but to us it was worth it. The rooms are basic but clean and we always had fresh towels and clean sheets when we came back from a day of wandering the strip. We loved the fact that we got a downstairs room and could park right outside our door. The security at this hotel was comforting. I first read about this place in Arthur Frommels Budget Travel magazine. Oh and we liked the free ice cream social that they offered in the lounge to casino guest. We didn't do too much gambling here as we seemed to have better luck at the "Stardust" next door. We will definately stay here again.

- Good Visit The first surprise about the 'Ho was that is in no way a hotel - it is a motel.
You check in at the rear of the casino but all the rooms are located behind
the casino in the car park. The rooms are basic but clean and functional. I
only paid $240 for 6 nights so you can't expect 4 Seasons style luxury.
Initially, we were concerned about the security of our door as it led directly
outside (they all do!) but only had an internal door style lock. However, the
security at the entrance to the car park were there 99% of the times we
passed through and they do check for your car pass before allowing you
to proceed. There are also security on bicycles riding around. We had no
problems with the security of our room during our stay.
The complaint about the rooms being too far back from the Strip are
ludicrous. It would be a longer walk from some of the rooms in a
mega-resort such as MGM Grand to the lobby than it is from the furthest
'chalet' to the Strip.
We didn't use the pool but the main one looked OK. It has a hot tub /
jacuzzi and a more convential pool, both heated (we stayed in winter)
They're a bit touchy about using the telephone for non-local calls. I
accidentally used the local 702 code in front of a number I dialled and the
call ran up a bill of $2.30 as if it were long distance. They left TWO notes
on my door asking for payment!!
Overall, if you are just looking for a bed for the night in a reasonable
location and don't mind the 'chalet' style rooms then you can't beat this
place.
