Loved everything at The Orleans, except the service at the casino. Trying to get a drink at the casino was like finding a needle in a haystack. When you did find a server, it took 30-35 minutes to get a drink. And finding a nice server was hard to do as well. There are a few good ones, but the majority of the servers were rude. Maybe if I dealt with the thousands of people in the casino I would be the same way. Other than that,The Orleans was very nice, clean, good food, very nice people at the front desk, and the list goes on. The shuttle was very nice as well. Dont know what we would have done without it. We would stay at The Orleans again for sure!

My girlfriend and I stayed at The Orleans for two nights during Memorial Day week. We arrived at the hotel in the middle of the afternoon and check-in was reletively quick. the room was big and what a surprise- in-room coffee. The bathroom was nicely decorated and the window that opens was a plus. The only negative about the room was with the pillows that were very thin. Hallway carpeting and walls were in very good shape. Elevators were fast. The casino was extremely large. The bars were good and bar service was o.k.. Make sure you hit happy hour at the Mexican restaurant for inexpensive food and drink. The Buffet restaurant was good for breakfast and dinner. The pool area was great but the pool bar needed more than one bartender. Staying off the strip was no big deal. The strip was a two minute car ride or you could take the shuttle bus from the hotel back and forth to the strip. I will definately stay here again.

We have stayed here over 10 times the past few years. We receive very good email and mail offers for great rates. Great odds on video poker. Good casino. Only item of concern is relative lack of restaurants. Buffet is good. Coffee shop is ok.

First time stay at the Orleans courtesy of some comps from Sam's Town Tunica I believe. Check-in was a breeze and the host gave us a room with a great window view of the strip. Room was clean and relatively spacious. We always rent a car so the location was not an issue. My wife enjoyed the spa and told me that the spa staff were attentive and helpful. Seemed to be a lot of food choices (we ate at a small sushi restaurant and give it a thumbs up). Cocktail service was poor. It appeared that they were understaffed to me. Gambling was about what you would expect at a large casino. I found the slots tight (had much better luck downtown particularly at Fitzgeralds) and a good number of tables open with a just a sampling of $5 play.

Stayed at Orleans for the second time and enjoyed our stay again. Room was large and clean. Bathroom was the same. Requested extra towels and there they were. Love the food and the slots were just right, lots of choices from pennies up. Staff was friendly and as helpful as ever. Check in was quick and efficient.
We will be back.

Stayed one night at this hotel and absolutely loved it! When I called in to make the reservation, they honored the price I had found at Hotels.com. Check in was fast and they upgraded us to a suite! Huge room with a bar, comfortable bed and giant bathroom. The suite had a really good distance view of the strip. Hotel was located a bit from the strip, but that wasn't much of a problem since we had rented a car. I only wish we had more time to spend there! Will definately be going back!

This is one place we were glad to leave. We were there three nights and it seemed like thirty three nights. The bed was designed by Fred Flintstone. The employees were snobs with an I could care less manner. The bathroom had very little water pressure and finally the location is not exactly popular.

Update summer of 2007. I have stayed here twice this summer. Both times on comps; free room, $50 free food, $100 free gambling. I have won or broke even both times and really love all the free drinks. There is a great selection of VP with lots of 5 cent machines. Cocktail service could be a bit quicker but there is always a VP bar close by. The rooms are comfy and the room service food is Fantastic!! The prices are good, food is tasty and the portions are Huge!! I always end up with lots left on my plate.

Can't wait for my next mail offer. They send them often. This is THE BEST casino and hotel for the low roller by far!!

6/06: Found a good rate on expedia, $35, which the Orleans reservation people matched. Very nice room overlooking the pool. Room service was very good, inexpensive and Fast! A bowl of gumbo, blackened steak and blue cheese salad, Jambalaya pizza and a sixer of Michelob ran $44 w/tax and was delivered in 40 mins. All the dishes were tasty. The selection and prices of the room service menu were comparable to any mid range restaurant.

The casino sucked for me(unlike the previous post). I only found two machines that would let me play for awhile. The rest just ate my cash with very little payout.

Just for your information, a taxi to the strip going to The Venetian runs $10-$11 each way, plus tip. Not bad. See Blue Man!! You will love it.

Our first time staying off-Strip and we had a blast. Room was large enough with a comfortable bed and coffee-making facilities (a real bonus). Staff were very friendly and efficient all through our stay.
Cinema was good and bowling alley looked great although we didn't get round to using it this trip.
Slots & VP were set at a fair level, neither of us made a profit this trip but we gambled for hours on end and still came home with most of our respective bankrolls.
Shuttle to the Strip was great, was nearly full each time we used it but never had to wait for the next one.
Will definately be back and will recommend the Orleans to our friends.

Very good value. Large rooms that were very clean. The decor was a little dated, but well kept. We last stayed at Paris and our room at the Orleans was just as nice as our Paris room was. Very nice view of the strip from our room. We also enjoyed the little window in the shower. Casino had all the needed slots and table games. Lots of $5 tables which are hard to find on the strip on the weekend. Staff was friendly. Good dining choices. Convient parking. Good strip access with the use of a rental car. Would stay here again.

First time staying at the Orleans...Had a wonderful time. The rooms were large and comfortable. Not too fancy but we don't stay in long enough to require anything more. Very clean. Check in was fast and room was ready early so there was no wait. Never left to go anywhere else we were having fun and the slots were not tight. Will come back again for sure. Had the seafood buffet and it was delicious so much to choose from. Also had dinner a Don Miquels.Recommend it highly. Food was perfect and presentation was more than we expected. For a great hamburger try Terribles. Yum!

We've been going to Las Vegas on an average of 2 times a year for 16 years and stayed at TI, Mirage, Caesars Palace, Bellagio, Mandalay Bay, MGM, Paris, Venetian and even the Desert Inn (that was the best!). Many times we have played and had the most fun at The Orleans while staying elsewhere. We finally decided to give The Orleans a try because I felt we wanted to stay where we like to gamble. The Orleans has the friendliest staff and dealers hands down!
We arrived at 10:00am and we were able to check-in and go straight to our rooms. That was never happened anywhere. The rooms were bigger than anywhere and although not fancy, it was very clean, the bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom was adequate, the shower pressure and temperature was the best we have ever experienced in any hotel anywhere. We had a small plumbing problem in the sink and it was taken care of within 15 minutes. We also had a bad picture on our TV and that too was fixed immediately.
We went to the breakfast buffet which was an excellent value as was everything in The Orleans. We mostly played Craps and we all came away winners! One in our group hit a $1200+ jackpot on a penny slot machine! Three others each hit slot machines for $200 jackpots. The casino is well laid out, easy to get around and find one another, but it is does smell of smoke.
We used the gym and found the weight machines to be a bit antiquated. All said, we had a wonderful time and it was a supurb value. Will definitely stay there again. We stayed for 4 nights at a price of one night elsewhere!

This was a very nice hotel. We used to stay at the Rio...that place has become a hangout for 20-25 year olds who just want to go clubbin. AHHHH to be young again...anyway the Orleans has decent size hotel rooms. I just didn't like the sliding door to the bathroom. Plus door had no lock. Shower had excellent pressure and a window to let the steam out. Great concept. Hotel slots were tight. Lots of Video Poker. Valet parking was quick. All in all...a great stay for the money. I will be back soon.

My wife and I stayed at The Orleans for 7 nights and had a great time. The rooms were clean and had everything we needed. The only draw back was the bathroom had no fan and there was no door between toilet and vanity room. The casino was large and well spread out. Wife got a royal flush on duble bonus poker..we came out for the week a little ahead on our gambling. We both are video poker lovers and if you are this is the place for you. The selection of restaurants was decent.. We enjoyed Don Miguels and TGIF's...also the courtyard cafe had a great late nite breakfast special...willl definitely stay there again..can't wait to go back in the spring...this was our first stay there but won't be our last...the shuttle was a good way to get back and forth to the strip but we also used taxis about 10 bucks with tip gets you to MGM area..the shuttle drivers were a little rude at times and there was not a definite marked spot for a line to get on and off.. the service was great other than that, especially the cocktail service...we never went dry

Ahhh..the Orleans. I went there to see a ECHL hockey game. The arena was nice, hockey was good, although i should have brought my stuff cuz I was better than half of them. The Alligator bar was very good to me after as the bartender Skippy was gassing the drinks like he owed me money. After several bowls of loudmouth soup, we did end up seeing Boston bruins legend Adam Oates. He was under suspicion big time. I will go back here. Was good time. We saw several crossdressers there though, which was quite disturbing and spooky..alll good though. My only complaint was the hot dogs at the arena tasted like my old nike AirJordans nd gave me horrific gas.Bathrooms were cash money.

My brother and I stayed here and were very impressed. Large, clean room, excellent food, friendly staff everywhere, and I did very well in the casino. I won money on literally everything that I did. Ended up winning $175 in blackjack, and paid for the entire week's expenses plus an additional $400 on nickle video poker. I hit a progressive royal flush for well over $400 and this is no exaggeration, I'd bet that I had no less than 30 sets of quads. It was an amazing run of luck. The last morning, we had 30 minutes to play before our departure time and I hit quad kings and quad tens in that time frame. $20 in, $50 out. It was like that all week. This was my first trip (of seven) to Vegas to mainly gamble, as most trips have been with the wife, who doesn't play. We're taking that gals next time. We've bragged about The Orleans so much, they can't wait to go. The Orleans sets the standard in customer satisfaction. The only negative that we found was that there were kids EVERYWHERE. Take the little kids to the beach. Leave Vegas for the big kid in all the rest of us.

This is the best value in vegas. Everything about this property is nice. Don't get me wrong it is not on par with the upper echelon properties of the strip but you could stay here for a week for the price of one night at those properties.

Room was excellent with new carpeting and bedding. TIP: ask for a renovated room at checkin. Try the 19th floor.
Room was a very good size.
Casino was very large with low minimums. Casino seems to cater to locals and was smokey.
Price is very reasonable. A week should cost les than $700 all in and you can find it cheaper if you are lucky.
One strong suggestion is to rent a car if you are staying here. LV taxi rates are very expensive and I would not rely on their shuttle which comes every one half hour. If your are at the end of a long line you may have to wait another one half hour.
Restaurants are reasonable and good.

The Orleans was a beautiful casino with fantastic restaurants everywhere. The rooms where magnificent too with lots of space and comfortable beds. There are no safes in the room but I dont know how secure those are anyway.

Big Al's Oyster Bar has fantastic Clam Chowder. The offee shop has really good graveyard specials between midnight and 7am. Ham and Eggs Breakfast for $2.50.

The slots were not particularly loose although I ended up coming out ahead. Noone else in my party did. Not much full pay video poker aside from Double Bonus Video Poker. The tables had low minimum bets though which was nice. You could play roulette for a minimum of 1 dollar bets.

Great place.

Had a great stay here. Value is great with large rooms and clean surroundings and good restaurants & buffet. Next time I'll bring my shoes and have them shined. There's a shoeshine man near the giftshop and it looked like he was doing a fantastic job. Drink service is quick and frequent.

There are two downsides to staying here. One, for me, is the lack of lower denomination full pay 9/6 JB. I like playing a little video poker inbetween the table sessions and couldn't find it here except at $2 level. Perhaps I missed something.

Secondly, the location is the biggest downer. You definitely need a car. They offer a shuttle but it takes some waiting and the crowds were so large that not everyone would get on each time.

Would I stay here again? Yes, if the Gold Coast weren't around. But as long as the Gold Coast is an option I'll go back to staying there where there is full pay VP and I've got the Palms and Rio surrounding me. And if I take the shuttle it's a much quicker trip and shorter wait since the Barbary Coast is just down the street.

Otherwise a great place and we enjoyed ourselves.

Orleans is not for everyone, if you like driving and don’t plan on drinking then Orleans is cheaper than the strip hotel even with a car rental. If you like to party at night, stay away from Orleans, cause there is no other hotel close by, and the last thing you want on your vacation is getting thrown in jail for DUI.

If you like swimming, Orleans swimming pool is not heated…..I was at Orleans when Vegas was over 100 degrees, and the water was cold at 9 AM, but was good at 2 PM. Great layout, with 2 swimming pools and one Jacuzzi. The swimming pool consist of one big one, and a kiddies pool. The kiddies pool is only 1 feet deep and in the middle it gets to about 3 feet deep…good for any children at any age.

Casino, if you like video poker, you will love Orleans….this place has a lot of them. The cocktail service is average, about 2 drinks per hour. The table has very good low limits (average for off the strip casino). The slot card is the most stingy card I have. While “loose” pennies slots pays back over 90%, the downfall is that you get very little comp points (I’ve tried everything from 1 credit to 10 credit…meaning 20 lines at 10 credit, that’s $2 per pull) and managed to get only 2 comp points after 30 minutes of play. Play the tighter slots, you get a point with every dollar you win; here I was getting point quick and fast (average with other casino), but was loosing money quick and fast too. So the questions is, do you play for comp points, or play to win (or make your money last a lot longer).

The rooms are 25 to 50% bigger than an average room. The layout is a little weird, with the bathtub and toilet in a separate room, and the sink and closet right beside it…and with one door, a sliding closet door that doesn’t lock. I got use to it, but found it strange at first.

All Coast Hotel doesn’t have connecting rooms, so if you need one, you will need to look elsewhere. There is a Home Depot a few blocks away from Orleans thou, and trust me, it’s so tempting to “make” a connecting room.

Overall, it’s a was a great stay, and under certain circumstances, I would stay again.

Stayed at the Orleans for the first time. We have been staying at Caesar's. We will definitely stay at the Orleans next time. The room was great - large, clean and easy access to the pool. All of the restaurants were very good at reasonable prices, the personnel were courteous and friendly, the blackjack table very good, etc. etc. We were very impressed at the quality for the money. If you like the strip, it's easy to get there via their shuttle bus.

This is an excellent value for your dollar. Very large rooms with small sofas and tables almost like a mini suite. We have stayed here twice and were pleased with everything but the lack of hot water. We called the maintenance people twice about the water not getting hot. You had to leave it run for long periods of time before you could shower. Don't know what's with that, but other than that we were very pleased. Friendly and helpful staff and good food. Excellent "cheapo" early bird breakfasts. My dh and I would get up at 6, go get breakfast and come back and go to bed! Steak and eggs for $2.95 with potatoes and toast and the steak is GOOD! The ham steak and eggs for the same price was as big as a dinner plate. The first stay we used their shuttle to go to the Barbary Coast, which disects the strip and we walked halfway each day, the second time, we rented a car. You won't be disappointed with this hotel even off the strip. You couldn't get a better deal for a room of this size (at least 350 sq ft) and quality (your hygiene products provided were soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, shower cap and even mouthwash. The only thing that would make this hotel better is free internet access. It is $10 a day! (this is the normal price for the Vegas hotels that offer this service though)

We vist Las Vegas a lot and this has become our favorite hotel. The rooms are large with a sitting area. The bathrooms are OK (about the same as most guest bathrooms in your home.)We arrived late and the check in was quick and friendly. The elevators were fast and we never had to wait more than a few seconds. The pool area is nice. It's not as nice a some of the strip hotels, but they restrict it to hotel guests so you don't have a lot of people walking through. The buffet is good for the money. The other eating places we tried were good and not too expensive. We had so so luck in the casino, but it was better than what we had on the strip or downtown. On the down side there is not an in room safe and if you don't valet park you might have to walk a block or two (like you do for most strip hotels) Overall this is great place if you have a car and you want value for your money.

stayed at the orleans from july2nd to july 8th. got a good rate with their price match guarantee 40.00 weekdays and 89.00 weekend. I dont understand why the orleans has such a high rating. the room was nice and large. the bathroom was better than average, but their were 3 large stains on the carpet(obviously carpet not cleaned for a while). lamp shade on night table was cracked. Overall the room was very average for las vegas standards. As for the buffet: We only had the breakfast buffet twice, and it was very below average. the food was edible and that was it. As for the employee service, front desk was very good. Played only blackjack. 90% of the dealers obviously hate their job and dont want to be there . Most of the dealers just had a scoul look on their face and never said a thing during play. If you are low roller, their is a 3.00 table 24 hours a day. If youlike the game of let it ride, forget it , not at this casino. I recommend eating at the courtyard cafe. it is open 24 hours and food is very good (decent prices). I must assume that the reason this hotel gets such good ratings is the beloe average cost of rooms and buffet, because overall the orleans hotel and casino is very, very average in all respects. If you are on a tight budget and want a decent, very average stay, the orleans is for you, but if you want anything more, pay for it and stay somewhere else.

My wife and I just got back from our stay at the Orleans. This place is great! And a great value! Our room was spacious and spotless. The staff was friendly and helpful. We didn't try all of the eateries, but those that we did were excellent. All in all, this place is certainly just as good as any of the 3-star properties on 'The Strip', and for a lot less money.
Our only gripe would have to be with the casino; specifically the casino's ventilation system. The Orleans seems to attract a lot of smokers, and they should try to improve on methods to clear the smoke out.
For those of you that like staying on 'The Strip', The Orleans has a free shuttle that can take you to the Barbary Coast. From there, you can go next door to Bally's and take the monorail.
The Orleans is truly an excellent place to stay. I highly recommend it!

I like the location which is a bit off the strip. Parking is convenient, although they could have more
covered parking. The rooms are quite nice and the price is right. I paid $49 a night for a Monday and
Tuesday night stay. I was able to check-in @ 10am which was a big plus. I like how the facility has a
16 theater movie complex and the liquor store has a great selection and excellent prices. The buffet is
quite good and it helps having 2 for 1 coupons. I feel very comfortable @ the Orleans and I'm
returning in September!

Awesome hotel with great rooms!! We have stayed at other casinos on the strip but The Orleans is much nicer!! Largest room and the Largest bed we have had in vegas. I would recommend it to anyone. The casino is above par and the sports book is very nice (busy also). Lots of things to do in the casino and we are going back after only 1 month away. BEST ROOMS IN VEGAS WITH GREAT PRICES. The only downside to the place is it is about 1-1/2 miles off the strip. But we rented a car and got in and out easily.

We arrived late - it was after midnight and waited a good fifteen minutes in line to check in. I had requested a room on the lowest floor possible over the phone and was told we would be on the 3rd floor. I said fine. (My lady doesn't like heights or elevators). We were instead given a room on the 6th floor. I wish I had asked for the room closest to the elevator - it was a long, long way from the elevator to the our room. The room smelled bad when we walked in - stale odor. The water smelled like sulfur - especially the hot water. The sink drain was clogged. There was no exhaust fan in the bathroom - there was a small window in the shower, but if you are planning to have a bowel movement while you are there you might want to leave the room for a little while afterwards. We had ants in the room - that's right ants on the sixth floor. I had asked for a king size bed - instead the room had two queen sized beds - neither one of which was very comfortable. The room looked nice and was nicely decorated. I had read the reviews on line and even for the money was expecting more.
The pool is OK, but not nearly as nice as the other places I've stayed in Vegas - the Flamingo, Hard Rock, Aladdin. I stayed at the Rio last summer and the pools there are also much nicer.
The restaurants were all good. The buffet, the Italian restaurant and the coffee shop were all good and fairly priced.
I had rented a car, which was a good thing because the Orleans is pretty far away from most of the other casinos and the strip. When you rent a car this is usually a good thing because with the off-strip places the parking is easier and the lots and garages easier to get in and out of. The problem at the Orleans is that if you use self parking, which I prefer, you have to park a mile away from the elevators. I'm in pretty good shape, but it's really a long walk. then you took the elevator to the 6th floor and walked the entire length of the building to get to the room. Good exercise, but a pain in the ass on a vacation.
The Orleans was OK. I don't think I'll be staying there again anytime soon. Overall - I was disappointed.

I stayed at the Orleans the weekend of July 22 to July 24. The hotel and casino was fairly crowded; a basketball tournament was taking place that weekend. The hotel was very nicely furnished; two queen sized beds, large bathroom, and amenities, including iron and ironing board and hair dryer (and extras like body gel, lotion, and fancy soaps). Our room also featured a strip view which was amazing; well worth the extra price ($10). The casino was great with low-limit tables, including one $3 shoe blackjack table. I preferred the $5 double-deck blackjack tables. Video poker selection was good, I was bit disappointed they had only Double-Bonus and Double-Double Bonus VP, but they had full pay (9/6) at .25, so it made it up for it. The dealers, cocktail waitresses, and floor personnel were all very polite and personable. The only downside to this hotel is the location. The Orleans is located about 2 miles west of the Strip/I15, not a big deal if you have a car; very easy to get around town, I visited the Rio and Palms and Strip/Las Vegas Blvd. without problems. Overall, a great stay at a fantastic price. I WILL be back.

We have stayed at the Orleans in the past and were always happy with the way we were treated. We found a great offer online and stayed four nights there recently. We were really looking forward to this trip but from the time we went to check-in, things started to go downhill. We were kept waiting for four hours while we watched everyone else check-in with no problem. When we finally were given a room the front desk clerk was very rude. She refused to answer questions and even said we were lucky to get a king room. We tried to make the best of the trip after this. The housekeeping is great and the rooms large and clean. The Prime Rib Loft was a great deal and the servie great. After four days we checked out and again were treated very badly by the front desk. I have contacted the Orleans management and am waiting to hear back from them. My husband was so angry he wanted to leave when we got there until I reminded him that we would be charged because we did not give them 72 hours notice. I don't know if we will ever come here again; it would all depend on the management's response.

This was our 3rd stay at the Orleans. We got there about 10 AM Nevada time and decided to see if we could check in early. They had some rooms available and were very nice about it. The check in staff was the only weak link from our past visits. The rooms are large and clean. Great bathrooms. The buffet is good as always. If you sign up for their mailing list they will send you great deals. I am nervous to see how high their ratings are as I hope they continue to be one of the best kept secrets in Vegas. Can't wait to come back.

Stayed at the Orleans May 31-June 2. This was the third time I've been there. The room was great as usually. Nice and big with a sitting area. The pool is good for a non strip casino. The guy at the pool bar let me use a hotel drink coupon for a Hurricane even the though the coupon listed only "Casino Bar" use. I have used the spa before and it is nice as well. The buffet is a good value and so are the other restaurants. There are some good video poker machines there but no 9/6 Jacks or Better at the quarter level and I've never done well on their three reel slots there. Howeve once you stay there they want you back and they will mail you offers. Its a good value casino and isn't terribly far from the strip or airport for that matter.

Room was large, nice and clean. Only complaint would be no in room safe so when I went to the pool had to take my wallet and cash with me. VP machines are better than the strip hotels in terms of payouts. I ate twice at Don Miguels (Mexican) very good tacos, the three taco dinner was $8.95. Ate once at Spazio's (Italian) which had very good garlic bread but the food was very bland, tasted like frozen cooked up in a microwave oven. Ate every morning at the Buffet. The buffet with tax is just under $7 and was great. Cooked to order eggs, omlets with anything you wanted in them, many other selections with egg McMuffins, mexican, fish, corn beef hash, waffles, pancakes, fruits, cereals, pastries, ice cream, sweet rolls, etc. I would order a large milk, orange juice, and coffee too. My drinks alone would cost $7 anywhere else. Only thing missing was no toast, although hey had rolls and croissants, etc. Ate once at Canal Street which is fancy without the fancy price. Had a steak that came with salad, veggies, choice of potato for $24. It was good, not gourmet, but your not paying $100 a plate either. The fun book they give out provides many free drinks and also provide 20% off a Sazios, free desert at Canal Street and a free Margaritta with an entree at Don Miguels which is a good one in a large traditional glass not just a little plastic cup like some places on the strip. I also liked the fact that at the pool the bar charges $2.50 for a bud draft in I think was a 16 oz cup i.e. they dont hose you which is nice(you can also use your free drink coupons). I used the pool a lot because I stayed here 5/23 to 5/27 and temp was 12 degrees above normal and in the 100's. Luckily I had a rental car and parked in the parking garage behind the hotel to avoid the car heating up in the blazing sun. I would NEVER want to be standing in that hot sun waiting 20 minutes for a shuttle bus. Driving from the Orleans is very easy you just turn left at the stoplight toward the strip and then depending on where you are going hop on 15 going North (three blocks away) to the cross street on Las Vegas Blvd you want or just go a little further and you hit LVB turn right for Mandalay Bay or left for Bellagio.

We stayed here from May 14-18/05 with our two children aged 9 & 12. The hotel was very nice. There was no smell of smoke. Our room was very nice and clean. I asked for extra towels and they came immediately. The Orleans is quiet, not like Circus Circus where we stayed last time. We ate dinner at the buffet one night and it was great. We also ate breakfast there 2 days. The food wasn't quite as good the second time since it was almost closing time for breakfast but it was still very good....an excellent value. The coupon book had very good, useful coupons. We also ate dinner one night at Sazio's. We all thought it was great and again a good value....loved the funky decor. We went to the pool one day....very nice and the drinks were good prices there. The kids thought the Kids Tyme playcentre was good...even for older kids and they liked the arcades too. We took the free shuttle to the strip one day but it was much nicer when we got our rental car the next day. The Orleans is a bit of a distance from the strip but is still a wonderful place to stay. We'd definitely stay here again.

This was my first stay at Orleans and have to say I loved it. Went with my husband and son since both had never been to Vegas and I wanted someplace that was kid friendly but not over run with kids. Arrived LV on a early flight and took taxi (20.00 inc. tip) from Airpot to Orleans. Wanted to find out about checking bags since I assumed that since it was Memorial day the place would be packed not to mention it was 9:00am. Was surprized to hear front desk offer check in got room on 19th floor with pool and mt. view went up dropped off bags went back downstairs grabbed 1st shuttle to strip. The room was great did not feel cramped at all and love the window that opens in bathroom.
Shuttle to strip was easy and convienent, also bus rout will take you right to Trop on the strip. Ate at Cafe, Steak buffet, and Itailian rest. all great prices and great food.
Slots were a bit tight, but did well on Video Poker. Childrens play area and pool were a big hit with my son. I also loved the coupons just be advised that free bottle of wine with buffet is a big normal sized bottle. I am planning another trip (grownups only) for my birthday in November and Orleans is were I plan to stay. Love that the pool and hot tub is open year around also the guards that watch the room elevators making sure that everyone has a room key are a big plus.
One of 2 things that I was not thrilled with was needing to cash travlers checks only able to be done at Casino Cashier. On Wed late afternoon the line was huge with folks cashing their paychecks. Maybe in the future offer a area for Hotel Guests. Lastly if you want milk to mix that Kalua with up in your have to pay for a cup of it so bring a small foldable cooler and buy a few of the small cartons at the gas station nearby. Be nice if gift shop sold milk also. With the exception of those 2 things I love the Orleans, and love that you don't pay stip prices for food and stay.

I agree with many of the other posters to this site. The Orleans is a superb value -- maybe the best in town, when considering quality and value.

The Orleans is a huge, spacious casino-hotel that is sparkling clean and up-to-date in amenities that locals and travelers have come to expect, however, it does not try to be Caesars Palace. It would probably compare to a Harrah's or Flamingo on the Strip in terms of how they compete for the mid-level market they are after.

The casino is huge with lots of slots and video poker, plus a sizable table games pit. Its easy to find $5 blackjack here, and the cocktail service is fairly good. The employees are nice as well.

The hotel sports huge, oversized guestrooms that could almost be considered a mini-suite. They are decked in bright Victorian decor with full-length sofas in a separate sitting area. I especially slept well in the several nights I have stayed there over the years--the mattresses were some sort of foam/innerspace brand, but there was nothing saggy about them, and I slept like a baby each night! Security was present at the elevators every afternoon through the morning hours, checking keys for admittance to the elevators, which was nice.

The Orleans also has a big variety of restaurants at reasonable prices, and they are very nice. Canal Street Grille in their gourmet room, and the menu is excellent and well prepared. I especially enjoyed Koji Asian, Sazio Italian and the Prime Rib Loft restaurants, as well as the huge French Market Buffet. The Courtyard Cafe 24-hour restaurant has great breakfast specials. Again, the hotel maintains lower prices than the Strip to attract volume, but the quality is excellent.

I also appreciate the multiscreen movie theatre and showroom for entertainment purposes as well. While The Orleans is a bit out-of-the-way in relation to the strip (a mile or so west on Tropicana from the MGM Grand) it is worth the trip.

I really like this place overall. the rooms are clean and large. the front desk staff was NOT friendly at all. I asked if there were any upgrades available and was told no-but we have plenty of rooms!!! what kind of crap was that. the front desk didnt bother to look at the reservation that was made 3 months in advance, so they initially gave me the exact opposite room type that I asked for. that took over an hour to get fixed by a very unimpressive front desk.
the food in the hotel is very good. terribles liquor store is the cheapest in vegas. security was good. parking fair only, but much better than the strip.
the casino is pretty, but tight. ahh thats vegas. slots, video poker, and the table games just kicked my b...! drink service was a little slow, but always nice to look at.
the comp system is strange. you get comps based on how much you win rather that the amount of time played. consequently my comps were worth less than the little bag of nuts given out by southwest.
i always rent a car so being a little out of the way is ok.
i will stay there again, but before i book i will look at the Cannery for their prices.
if your looking for really good cheap food the little wild wild west is just down the street. the casino is friendly with good comps. the rooms there are poor quality (old musty motel 6) and what they call a suite is the biggest joke in vegas. play there and eat there, but dont stay there.

Just back from my 4th visit to the Orleans (6-1-06). Was comped with meals. Even won this time. You just can't beat this place to stay.
The only complaint I have of all the Coast properties is the rip off charge for High speed internet.

Stayed at the Orleans with wife and two daughters aged, 19 & 14. Very convenient location to all attractions if you have a car, which we did. Valet service was quick and friendly. We didn't have to wait for more than 5 minutes for our car.
We arrived at 8:00 am, after a red-eye from Honolulu, and the front desk allowed us to check-in early. We had a 5th floor non-smoking room in the newer wing. Room was spacious and nicely decorated.
24 hour coffee shop restaurant was the only place we ate on property. Food was your typical comfort food fare. Nothing special.
Wheel of Fortune $1 slots were very good to us in the Casino. We keep hitting the spin mode and came home with money in our pockets.

We were very impressed with the size and view in our room. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Although we did not make a hugh return on our money, the table were pretty fair and slots a little tights. The Courtyard Cafe was pretty good for the money. The casino was clean and well laid out. Be sure and catch the suttle to the Barbary Coast to get to the strip(free)to aviod paying for taxis (very costly $14.00 to strip). After you get to the Barbary, head over to the Flamingo and catch the monorail for $10.00/24 hours, it's much easier to find than the bus. Don't get roped in to the (free show tickets/dinner)--it a timeshare presentation that we ended up at for 3.5 hours and it was like trying to buy a car--they wont take no for an anwser until you have been ganged up on by more than 3 other people. Again--great stay and wonderful hotel.

I found a $55 rate online at Travelocity, called the Orleans and they matched it. I wasn't expecting much at that price. Boy, was I wrong! The room was great with a king-size bed, sofa, desk and large bathroom. It was on a scale with a room at the Mirage. Check in was fast and courteous. I requested a late checkout and was told I would be charged $25 after 12:30. That was OK because they let me check in at 11 am the previous day.

Only dissapointment was with the French Market buffet that doesn't seem to be up to the old standard. I had breakfast there. There was a long line for the omlettes, so I had to skip them and eat the standard fare. I would definitely go back to the Orleans. It is best if you have a car. Yes, there is a shuttle to the strip but do you want to spend your vacation waiting for a bus to arrive?

Talk about tight slots, The Orleans takes the cake. In my opinion, they now have the most outmoded and money-sucking machines in Las Vegas. The other thing about this place is that there's practically nothing about New Orleans or France left except the facade. The Southern hospitality and the French finesse have been replaced by nondescript attendants who roam the grounds as if the clientele "ain't there," so to speak. Blame it the soul-less jerks who oversee the premises from their perches at a corporate entity called "Coast Casinos," which also operates another lifeless venue -- the Suncoast Hotel & Casino. These overseers have sucked the humanity out of The Orleans and replaced it with a venner of phony luxury. They have probably tightened the slot machines to finance the construction of yet another anti-human complex. If you want to experience New Orleans, spend your money on a ticket to Louisiana. Don't give it to the jerks who now run The Orleans. That is, unless you want to smell stale cigarettes while they drain your wallet.

I was surprised to see such a nice room. It was great for the money. As nice as our upgrade Park Ave room at NYNY. The buffet was very good and reasonable. I have been to numerous buffets in Vegas and the food here is as good or better then most. Beware of lines though, people are finding this out. The location is about a mile from the strip, but in a good location to get around. I would stay here again without question. They also have theater and bowling.

I was suprised to see the quarter pay scales for jacks or better VP were 8/5, I figured on 9/6 but didn't see any. but the place looked ok

We stayed 12/15 to 12/22 on special deal of $20/night each night. Room was clean and had all the standard amenities. It was, at 450 sq. ft., a decent sized room for the price. Only negative on room was the sliding (not normal swing) door to the bathroom which made a lot of noise when moved. The casino is large and had everything we were intereted in from lots of penny slot machines to $3-$5 craps (2x odds though).

Just the best place to stay in Vegas. It is a ways from the strip, but that gives it a fine,
comfortable feeling. Just finding your room in those strip casinos can be exhausting and
I like to go back to the room for a nap or forgotten things.

Great food in many locations. Excellent and inexpensive buffet. Good graveyard
specials in the cafe. Even the morning oatmeal with little portions of nuts and raisins and
cinamon and fresh berries was out of this world.

Good music in two locations.

fine 10/7 Double Bonus poker at the bars so you can sit in the Irish pub, be comped a
pint of Guiness or Beemish irish Stout and play full pay video poker while live music
performs.

Great workout room and spa.

Lots of free drink coupons in the funbook.

The free shuttle drops you right in the heart of the strip so what time you use riding it, you
save in walking.

50 cent decks of cards and 25 cent used dice in the gift shop. Free beads for the asking
at every change booth. Great bottles of shampoo etc in the rooms.
Excellent maid service. Quick and when you want it.

Great live poker, but tough competition.

With a car this location can't be beat because you can use the uncrowded back roads to
access the strip where you want to be rather than buck strip traffic and without going
anywhere near the strip you can access the Palms, Rio, or Gold Coast o head over to the
Wild Wild West for those famous hamburgers and fries. also good access to
superhighways.

Great rates and they will match the lowest price you can find anywhere else.
Everything comfortable, clean, and everyone friendly.

First time in Las Vegas booked the Orleans following the good reports on this site. It would be a long trip from the UK for a bad hotel!
No worries, the Orleans lived up to its reputation.
Arrived tired after 18 hours travel at around 7pm, and checked in within 2 minutes. Great room with a view of the mountains, good service and the coupons were actually useful (especially the free wine!!)
Bus shuttle to the Strip was adequate but not much fun to wait for when it rains.
My wife and I ate in the buffet for breakfast and dinner a couple of times and enjoyed the food - but especially at the prices.
It was too cold and wet to try the small pool, but it looked good.
All in all if we ever get back to Vegas - we'll be back at the Orleans.

Yes, the rumors are accurate, this is an excellent place to stay.. Everything about the place is just perfect. Nice rooms, good gambling, great buffet, good restaurants, convenient and not so congested location, no problem with parking. And of course for the guys, the cocktail are great, and wear the most sexy outfits in vegas. Without a doubt, this is the best place in vegas to stay -- unless of course you enjoy an overpriced tourist trap on the strip. THumbs up to the Orleans!!

Just returned from a 5 night stay at the Orleans. This was our third trip to Vegas (having stayed at Golden Nugget and Bally's previously). Got our airfare/hotel package from Allegiant Air for a bargain. We didn't spend a whole lot of time at this place as we were here on business (hubby is self employed so we had to pay for the trip out of our own pockets--why spend a fortune if you aren't going to be in your room much?)

We arrived at the hotel on Wednesday, 11/3 at 3:00 pm and no one else in line at check in. Food was tasty and excellent value. Throughout the course of the trip we had huge 75 cent hot dogs with all the trimmings from the cart on the casino floor. We also ate at the buffet a few times--very reasonable prices--$5.95 breakfast and $11.95 dinner consisting of about 200 different items! The cafe had excellent food as well.

Rooms were clean and comfortable. The standard rooms are 450 square feet and have a nice sitting area with couch. Due to rain and cooler weather we did not swim or go in the jacuzzis. But happy to see that to get from your room to the pool area one would be very convenient, right near the elevators so one would not have to prance through the casino in their bathing suits. We used the shuttle bus to the strip often. The buses only hold about 30 people, so get in line early or you'd have to wait an additional 20 minutes or so for the next one.

This is the place to be, especially if one is on a budget.

A wonderful place to stay. Great rooms, great food, quiet and convenient location, cocktail watresses are a definite bonus. Gambling is quite good, a lot of actual stores and fastfood right around the corner, unlike the strip -- A liquor and beer store in the casino, with the cheapest prices in vegas!! yup that's right! not only that, but a very nice bowling right upstairs from the casino, I am not kidding! late night bowling is cheap & a great time.. Movie theatre on site for the kids if need be.. Orleans arena to boot.. What more can you ask for -- this is the best in vegas, period.

I had a job assignment in Vegas and my wife joined me for four days after I was done with my assignment. We looked for another hotel to stay in after my client was paying for a hotel near their location without a casino. My wife is Diamond at Harrahs, yet we chose the Orleans over Harrahs or the Rio because neither offered any discounts or upgrades for their "Diamond" level client.
This turned out to be our lucky break.
I've noticed a lot of people knocking The Orleans because of location and it's distance from the strip, etc. One needs to know that you CANNOT walk from casino to casino in Vegas unless you have been in training for an Olympic event and it's much cheaper to rent a car than take one cab ride per day. It seems a lot of first time visitors think someone can "walk" the strip. Walking the strip would be a several mile walk. All the casinos have free parking and with a few questions you can drive in Vegas without even getting on Las Vegas Boulevard. A word to the wise; don't visit Vegas with the idea that you can walk up and down the strip. Rent a car. We enjoyed The Orleans because it is not on the strip. Staying on the strip can be like staying in Grand Central Station.
We arrived at the Orleans after driving to Laughlin for two days. It turned out we arrived right at check in time. There was a long line but it was well staffed and we waited less than five minutes before we had a room key. Our room was a non-smoking king and it turned out to be truly non smoking and two king beds. The room was very nice, the service was great and we had nothing to complain about. We ate at the Cafe and the service was very good. We gambled at the Orleans and cocktail service was better than any casino we have visited in Vegas and we have been to all of them except the Hilton.
On the last night of our stay I had switched to nickel slot machines. You know how Vegas is. We had managed to not lose much at all but were up and down. I put 20 bucks in a Triple Diamond nickel slot and cashed out 90 dollars in less than ten minutes. My wife informed me she had hit on a dollar video poker. I then switched to dollar slots and won forty bucks on the first spin. I played three more dollar slots and pocketed 40 dollars more. After staying at the big Vegas hotel casinos it was nice to stay somewhere where even though it's big it wasn't one of those long confusing walks to find the elevators.
We had a great time and will go back.

Because of all the good reviews found on this site while planning our wedding in LV, we decided on The Orleans as our hotel. We did get a rental car which I would recommend if you don't want to taxi around. Taxi from The Orleans to The Luxor one evening was 10$. However, I was not sorry we booked away from the strip.
Did the 20$ trick, but the extremely happy & friendly Disneyesque clerk at the front desk told me they were pretty booked so she couldn't offer anything to me and she was sorry. I told her to keep the 20$ anyway and was told, "Oh no, that just wouldn't be right." So, already my view of the staff was upgraded. Also, the coupon book that is given to you upon check-in was actually a really good bargain and not just full of "free slot pulls" on a machine that you know will never pay off while you're there.
We ate at the Courtyard Cafe which was fair- service was slow. We ate there late and didn't try the prime rib/steak dishes although I will next time. French Market Buffet was better, although the Spice Market at the Aladdin had them beat by a longshot. We did eat at the FM Buffet for their Monday Night Seafood special which we were actually very impressed with. We also got a free bottle of wine (coupon book!) which was pretty nifty. We didn't go see a movie or go bowling as we were busy with our wedding stuff, but it was nice to know it was there!
Played alot of nickel slots and played a long, long, long time. Machines were alot looser late (or was it early?) so we only played after 11pm. Didn't find the BJ tables very impressive- plan on playing BJ somewhere else next time we go. I didn't like the shuffling machines, nor did I like the dealers themselves. Casino interior is dirtier than the ones on the strip, but you get what you pay for...truly. It didn't bother me, actually- I kind of expected that.
The rooms are extremely spacious and have a nice, open feel to them. My only complaint about the rooms is that they don't give you enough pillows- but no hotel gives you enough (I like to sleep on lots of fluff!). Beds were fine. Horrible reception on the tv- which was fine with me. The maid even put my wedding bouquet into a vase of water which I thought was very much above and beyond her call of duty!
I have to say that the women at The Orleans with their black "ooh-la-la" outfits on got my new husband's attention many a time which I found quite amusing! It was all he could do to not order a drink every time one of them came by. Their costumes look like something straight out of Moulin Rouge- pretty skimpy outfits but they looked good! I notice that the Travel Channel goes to The Orleans alot.
Upon check out, the lady at the desk (a different one) gave us a coupon to come back during certain dates before the end of the year for 2-free nights and 2 free meals. Can't beat that!
We had already booked the time share for our honeymoon in December to Orlando, FL; but we had such fun in Las Vegas, that we decided the night we came back home that this is where we wanted to go again!
I bought the ACG (American Casino Guide) and have alot of great coupons to use this time! I also want to go to the Boulder Hwy and visit the casinos where the locals play & eat.
Anyway, we are staying at THE ORLEANS again and not sorry about it! Got 2 nights free, AND the rooms were only 20$ night! Where else can you stay in a casino for 20$ a night???? I...just don't know!

VIVA LAS VEGAS! :)

Believe me, this is THE place to stay if you don´t mind staying off the Strip. It´s a solid 4 stars hotel!
We have been staying here for the last 4 years for 3 days each and keep coming back for more.
After a very long trip (we live in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) we are always welcomed with a room ready for us before the official check-in time. My husband is a senior so I find this very thoughtful and sweet!
The rooms are great: big, very clean, nice mattress and a beautiful and cozy decoration. Lots of towels and all the other little things that make the all the difference.
The service is great too and friendly wherever you go. Not so many casino helpers available this last time though...
The buffet is outstanding! The only one that tops it is the Spice Market at Aladdin but is twice the price. We love the omelette station at breakfast and the Monday Nite Seafood.
Plenty of places to grab a snack too: Terrible´s Mike for hot dogs and sandwiches at the casino floor, Cate´s Corner for yummy ice-creams, a Subway and if you´re a coffee addict (like ourselves) try the Seattle´s Best.
We can´t think of another place in town where you can have all this for $60 or less. In fact, we had already booked our next stay, November 2005!

Second stay at The Orleans. Seems that machines have tightened since Boyd Gaming took over. The Deluxe View rooms are a slight upgrade over the other tower. Bring some comfortable shoes in the event that ye room is at the end of the floor opposite the elevators. Spa and pool are very nice.

Just had a very nice 3 day stay at the Orleans. I found this hotel to be very nice and comfortable. The rooms were as good, or better, than any strip hotel that I've stayed in (and I've stayed in a number of them). The service was quite good and always friendly. The food at their restaurants was OK, not excellent, but always at a good price, making them a good value. Lest you get the wrong idea here, I enjoyed my meals, they just weren't excellent. I found the gambling to be excellent because there were plenty of open seats at the table games, with low minimum wagers available 24 hours a day. Also, their blackjack rules were good, they haven't gone over to the less desirable 6:5 blackjack payoff, etc. There were a wide variety of slot machines (which I never play) and plenty of video poker (which I do). The spa was very nice and a good value also. All in all, I rate this hotel extremely high and will definitely stay here again. The only caveat is that you need your own (or a rental)car, or you'll spend a lot of money on cabs, or be waiting for the shuttle bus for much more time than I care to spend while on vacation.

For my vacation, I made a reservation at the Barbary Coast, where I had stayed last year. However, after arriving and being assigned two rooms both of which were unsatisfactory (one due to extreme noise the other due to ants on the bathroom vanity as well as extreme noise), I called the Orleans knowing that they were a sister property of the Barbary Coast. I have Meniere's syndrome, an inner ear problem that is exacerbated by certain noises, and both of the Barbary Coast's rooms proved problematic, though my room last year was fine. The Orleans offered me a room for my 4 night stay at $20.00 less per night than the Barbary, and suggested that I speak with the Barbary Coast's front desk to "transfer" the reservation and get the lower rate. The Barbary not only refused, but they told me that I would be charged for one night in addition to a $10.00 cancellation fee if I left. I explained about my Meniere's syndrome, but the front desk didn't care, so I left and went to the Orleans. What a WONDERFUL hotel! Yes, it is a bit off the strip, but because I had a car, it didn't matter. The front desk was pleasant and polite. The Hotel reminded me more of Harrah's than of the Barbary Coast. The room was spacious. My only minor gripes is that a sliding door separates the room/sitting area from the toilet, shower, sink and vanity, and closet area. I would have preferred another door between the closet/sink/vanity and the toilet/shower. That would have allowed someone to use the sink or get to the closet while another guest was using the shower or toilet. The buffet was exceptional for breakfast, the coffeshop was OK. If you stay here, ask the front desk for the "short cut" from the rooms to the garage via. the outside corridor. Otherwise, it's a LONG (and needless) walk through the casino from the rooms to the garage. Everyone was wonderful here, from the casino dealers, to housekeeping, to the front desk, to the security people at the elevators. I loved this hotel and would definitely stay here again.

Location is very poor, but there was some good. We will NOT stay here again primarily due to the inconvienent location. If you have a car you might feel better about it. Ideal for the over 60, bargain-luvin, buffet-eating and slot playing crowd.

Positives:

1. Great rooms
2. Great price
3. Good and friendly service
4. Clean
5. Nice pool and hot tub
6. Decent and reasonable restaurants
7. Sexy outfits on cocktail waitresses

Negatives:

1. Way too far from any other casinos. About a 2 mile walk through an industrial area to the strip. A mile walk through trash and broken glass to The Palms.
2. Tacky and ugly casino area. Bright green gators and hokey themes galore. Hideous fast food joint (but, good food) near center of casino.
3. Bad blackjack conditions: shuffling machines, and use of virtually all of the unfavorable rules that can hurt anyone that knows what they're doing. Amateurs won't know the difference. But there were plenty of $5 and even $3 tables full of clueless people.

Stayed Sept 21 to 25...arrived at hotel at 10:30 am...no line, we had reserved a king bed, however none were available at that time, but we could get 2 queens immediately, so we did. Rooms are exceptionally clean, as I am a freak for clean bathrooms..not a furball or anything was visable (the window in the shower was great to get rid of steam) . We left our room every morning for a couple of hours and it was always clean upon our return. The buffet was better than I expected, and the price compared to the strip hotels made it much more attractive. The shuttle bus runs every 20 minutes or so...it gets especially busy around dinner time...had to wait til next bus, unfortunately its last pick-up from the strip is at 12:30 am...seems early
The slots seem to pay off more in the evening hours...had a hard time getting use to payouts on a piece of paper...however we saved our print outs til the day we left and cashed them out and took the money home with us.

We've stayed at the Orleans three times. The only problem I had was when I dropped a necklace down the sink and when we called the maid to have someone retrieve it they told me we'd have to wait 3 hours which meant we would miss our plane. We called the front desk, however, and they had someone up there within 10 minutes and got it back for me. The rooms and bed are large, and we've always got an excellent price. The restraunts are mainly very reasonably priced, and serve excellent food. It's the only casino we've ever won at, we've stopped gambling elsewhere, as a matter of fact. In 2000 on our honeymoon I won $5,000 there as a matter of fact. While we rented a car one of the times, we had no problems getting around without one. They provide transportation to the Gold Coast and the Barbary Coast which is convenient and lands you in an area to continue to navigate the strip without even needing a car. While staying directly on the strip might be convienent, this is only one step away and more than makes up for it in value and comfort. I wouldn't stay anywhere else given the option. We came one additional time for a work event and had to stay at the Riviera. I missed the Orleans and would absolutely return to the Orleans if given the choice and my husband feels the same way. I would recommend it to anyone!

I can't say enough about this hotel. This was our third visit to Las Vegas, having previously stayed at Luxor and Aladdin, we just couldn't fault The Orleans at all. The staff were brilliant, rooms great, even the maids etc were friendly and talk to you in the hallways, the security guy on the desk at the elevators was the happiest guy we have ever met, the pool area and the spa really good, check in was quick, cocktail waitresses pleasant and good service, the food (we ate in the buffet and the Prime Rib Loft and both were good) the bowling alley, cinema etc - what more could you want. For the price you can't beat it! We loved it so much we are going again for New Year and it will be our base hotel from now on.

Checked in on a Sunday at about noon. No line and I just breezed through registration. Asked for a high floor and got `15. Room was far down from the elevator. It was very nice, very clean and comfortable. Bathroom tub is a little small for soaking. Had a strip view and could see from the Mandalay Bay to the Flamingo and Mirage.
Had a great 3 night stay, has the Mardi Gras package that included breakfast and dinner each. Would come back in a heartbeat.
Since my son is now going to be attending UNLV, I should be in town a half dozen times a year, and my family will be in too. We found a great home away from home.
