Mandalay Bay

Date Visited: 10/11 - Good Visit

Stayed at TheHotel at Mandalay Bay. Very nice suite, with lots of room. Big bathroom with TV, separate shower and tub. Housekeeping service was fine. Resort fee annoying, but knew about it going into the hotel and view it as an added cost of the room. Casino is nice and clean, smells of smoke like all casinos. Annoying table rules, more so than other casinos, and I am waiting for them to give dealers a stick to smack the hands of the guests. Location at end of strip was not too inconvenient given walkways between Mandalay Bay and Luxor and Excaliber, and tram between these hotels.

Restaurants were very expensive, but good (except Raffles, the coffee shop, which served inedible food). Bartenders at Red Square served excellent martinis. RM Seafood is grossly overpriced, but food was good. Buffet was average, not great. House of Blues was ok.

Date Visited: 05/11 - Bad Visit

The hotel is ok, but there are super-serious issues leading to a bad rating.

The Casino is dirty carpet, smoky and lame. The casino floor clubs have auto-tuners and totally lip synced fake music. The air is not clean on the casino floor (poorly ventilated, I dont mind smelling smoke, but the air here lingers and stinks). The foundation room and the Mix clubs are both lame and they are charging to go up, I just want to see a view, but they turn this into a nightclub thing, very stupid. The clubs are not worth being charged for at all.

Pool area is neat. Not a bad pool at all. But there are towel issues and they even check bottled water for booze!

Where the 1-star comes in is the unprofessional staff, the thievery, the lies and the cheating. The room rates have been going down slightly, but there is a catch. Some of the worst airplane-food is served at Raffles and the Red White and Blue, and they charge criminal rates for this food. The food at Strip Steak was mediocre, but the cost was outrageous and the service was completely unprofessional. We had a $800 bill for three people, and the service was rude and the food just ok. One server at Strip Steak spoke to a drunk couple while we waited for 10 minutes to order.

Lupo is not very good, total sham for the price. Fleur by Hubert Keller was ok, service was good, food just ok, but prices were outrageous. Aureole could be nice, but the prices are outrageous and the format of this restaurant needs work, its not an inviting place to go and have a few glasses of wine and an appetizer, they want to sell you a 9 course mediocre meal. It also closes way too early. China Grill, prices are outrageous, and this lame place isnt open for lunch and closes early. In fact, most places close early. Border Grill just stinks. Low quality food and outrageous prices.

I really believe in freedom, liberty, and the free market - but the prices here are nearly criminal. Sure they can charge what they want, but its a fraud, they give you a "deal on the room," and they have the convention center and drag us all into events here, but then they cheat overcharge and deliver bad food products for bad prices.

The Ri Ra bar on the way to Luxor was the only good place in there, good fish and chips, beers were good, a bit expensive but not as bad as the rubbish in the Mandalay. The crepes place is no good, takes forever and is overpriced. Ice bar is completely lame. The seafood place, I forget the name, is lame, and has a prix fixe menu with venison on it in a seafood place. The prices were completely outrageous there as well.

This hotel has huge potential, but its being run by greedy people obsessed with taking working family men like myself and shaking us down for every single penny in our wallets.

The in room minibar is a total rip off and there is no room for your own stuff and there is a hyper sensitive item removal detector on each item so if you bump them while storing medicine you get charged and you have to dispute a payment for something you didn't even drink.

The tubs are nice, but the shower is a low flow shower head which sucks. I'm letting hotels know something, if you put that low flow shower head in, I run the shower for hours to "punish" you for this. You'll rack up a years worth of water charges because you cheated me out of a decent shower.

The walls here are paper thin, so if you get a spring break next door you are doomed. I just run water to down out the sounds.

Raffles is the late night dining. The service can be good or super super slow its random. Food quality is airplane-food.

The towel situation at the pool stinks.

There are no moving (Jetson's) sidewalks on the way to the convention area. The convention area is like a half mile from the smell casino area , and walking there is ridiculous.

The service in general here is terrible. The managers are no good, the dealers are rude, the bartenders are mean spirited. Ri Ra was good, but the rest were very annoying. Ri Ra's bar tenders are actually from Ireland.

I really find the way this property is run to be offensive and below what should be for a potentially great hotel.

The towels and the sheets and the other linens were smelling "burnt," like very cheap detergent was used and the linen fibers were being burned by super hot dryer.

The internet service was very spotty, it could take a long time to "agree", and transfer rates ranged from good to zero.

A large number of employees have piercings and tattoos which are unprofessional and need to be covered up.

I really think Mandalay has gone from interesting and nice looking with lots of potential to being a criminal fraudulent terrible place to stay at and to be at.

Did not stay at Mandalay Bay but did spend my 40th Birthday there! The Bar staff were very friendly. They make the best Mai Thais ever! The waitresses are fantastic and managed to get me superbly drunk! Its clean, had a wonderful selection of machines. Only dounfall was the Raffles restuarant, we forgot to eat all day so nipped in at 11.30pm for a quick bite, ordered mini hamburgers and fries all of which were stone cold when they arrived and waiter looked like we had personnaly slurred him but asking if they could be heated up! Other than that, I love the Mandalay Bay!

No wonder Mandalay Bay gets such good ratings. Beautiful property, casino is well lit, and table service was very good. Better odds at Video Poker than the Harrah's competition.

Best Pool in Vegas. Great room with great view up the strip from the 34th floor. The elevator area can be murder when the conventions let out for the day. The service we received was very good. No luck in the casino and never quite felt comfortable. The Island lounge had great bands playing as usual. Nice floating the day away in the lazy river. (Remember to pack your cheapo inflatable tubes for the week and then just give them to kids when you leave.)And then chill out at the island lounge and enjoy the people watching and tunes. Very cool place.

Just got back from a stay at Mandalay Bay. It's a really nice hotel. Pool area was nice. Hotel service was great. Since it's the southern most property on the Strip, we had to take cabs to get around. CAUTION: CAB SERVICE ON THE STRIP IS SHADY AT BEST. It cost us $18.90 to get from MB to the Hard Rock. Even though this destination is 2.2 miles NE, the cab driver started south, then headed west, then north and finally east. $9 later we were no closer than when we started. We told him to start with how we wanted to get there but he just went about it the roundabout way. It was pretty much false imprisonment and if there isn't a law in Nevada against this, there should be.

Place is OK but not for high rollers. Dumped about $60,000 on my last two trips and find nothing speacial. Too many kid. No pool to relax at. Spent $450.00 a day for a day bed at pool and it was the worst service. At $650.00 per day private pool could not sit next to wife. Machines are VERY tight. Play $25 and $50 and $500 VP and have not hit one jackpot in two trips. Had to beg for things even as a pretty big player.

There are much better places to stay if you're a player.

If you're 100 lbs overweight have 4 screaming kids and want to get out of your trailer it's the perfect place for you!

We just got married on the 10th of June 2008. We went with the Opal shores package. I had a custom bouquet made, price wasn't too shabby for the upgrade. The wedding was great the pictures were amazing. I am a model and know a good photographer when I see one. The packages for the photo upgrades range from $450 to $2500 with our package we wanted 41 photo's and ended up with 35 in our price range, a magazine, photo video, canvas painting, 2 8x10's and some great upgraded touch ups plus our for around $550 including tax. Times are slow they will work with you on prices if need be. We rented the Vista suite so we would have 1700 square feet for private reception and chose to have our lunch for our guests at the bayside buffet which I would like to add that I was not happy about at first but relationships are about compromise. The pictures did not do it justice. I thought it looked cheap online but that was not the case in person. As matter of fact our guests were disappointed that we all ate at the Rio buffet the night before rather than the bayside, they felt it was a better choice and amazing service. Clean restaraunt, gorgeous view, high ceilings and great desserts. We were under contract with the bayside for a pre arranged number of guests and when people couldn't show short notice they told us not to worry about it, they would only charge us for the guests we had there at the moment. They didn't have to do that but things like that keep me coming back. I was going to go with the Wynn originally but they were snots to me. I have no time for that behavior. My fiance and family were so impressed this is the only hotel we want to stay at until they build the City center and we may try that one next but for us we will not waste our time and money with anyone else knowing what kind of service and excellence we have gotten at Mandalay Bay. I hope you experience is as wonderful as ours.

We just spent five days in Las Vegas...it was a very eye-opening experience. We stayed two nights at Planet Hollywood which was connected with a time-share presentation. The following three nights, we moved to THEhotel at Mandalay Bay. What a difference!!!! While PH was improved over the Aladdin, it just is not THEhotel. The level of service at THEhotel is amazing. Nothing is too much to ask of the staff. You are able to gamble at Mandalay Bay, so that is not an issue. You have a choice...amazing. The suites are fabulous--so comfortable. Shopping and great restaurants are just steps away. The Cafe at THEhotel is wonderful...but only open now until 3:00 p.m. Our favorite restaurant on the grounds is House of Blues. A great bargain because you get a two-for-one breakfast coupon printed on each receipt. Great food.....great service.....and then a coupon? Unbelievable.

From now on, we'll not try different hotels/casinos.....THEhotel is it for us.

My wife and I just stayed at the Mandalay Bay for a week in late April of 2008. THE NEGATIVES: The check in process was the longest I have ever waited (40 minutes in line, and we were told to come back in an hour for the room, and we arrived early!), the buffet is very average and overpriced with few seats that actually have a bayside view so be sure to ask for a window seat. The buffet has self pay machines with really takes the personal feel out, the restaurants at MB are good but there are no real casual eating places at all! Moving on, the layout is really bad as the self parking is extremely far from the hotel elevators and the casino is not a "fun" enviornment like some places (Mirage). We were astonished to find out that at such a high priced resort they actually charge you for high-speed internet access and is $14/day! THE POSITIVES: The Beach area is a lot of fun with good sized waves and plenty of sexy people, the lazy river is much better than I had thought it would be, and the overall relaxation at the beach area is great. I also really liked the Beachside Bar and Grill which had amazing fish sandwiches and chips and authentic salsa. On a scale of 1-10 we would rate this resort and our expierience a 4. Look elsewhere for value and fun!

Check in was a breeze, but as with almost all Vegas Casinos , who state that check in is at 3:00pm, ,

our room was not ready until 2:00pm...no complaints there. Rooms are spacious, clean, but if you

prefer a non smoking room...you need to request it!!! Gambling is on par with most "strip" Casinos, but

the wave pool is the best in town, I visit 2-3 times a year, and have stayed at many of the properties,

and this has to be one of the BEST!!!! My wife demands to go there at least once a year, and she's stayed

@ the Wynn, Paris, Mirage, Hilton, and can not wait to go back to the "BAY". She loves the pool, shops,

and most of all the spa . The Burger Bar @ Mandalay Place is awesome...and reasonable. The casino has

excellent cocktail service, and is very well ventilated, with lots of room to roam around, As with Las

Vegas in general, I strongly recommend leaving the "kids" at home!!!!!!! This is not a Family

environment, but don't get me wrong, but the strip area is definitely an "adult" playground.

We just returned from a 6 night stay at THEhotel at Mandalay Bay. This is the only hotel where we will stay in Vegas. Everything about this place shrieks class. From the front desk staff (even though there was quite a long line for check-in) to the rooms themselves, the great service never ends. The only problem with this last trip was that they are redoing a pool area....this caused long lines at the pool entrance. But, you can deal with that. THEhotel is still the only place we'll stay!!!

Mandalay Bay

Date Visited: 08/06 - Good Visit

We stayed at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino for 7 nights, August 9-16, 2006. We travel domestically and internationally 4-6 times per year, and usually stay at 4 or 5 star resort hotels. We chose Mandalay Bay this time partly because we had seen the property on a previous trip and thought it was beautiful. We also wanted an MGM/Mirage property so my husband could play their Shadow Creek golf course, and we wanted a great pool since we knew the weather would be hot.

We booked Mandalay Bay from the hotel’s website, using a promo code obtained on the FatWallet online forums. I checked numerous third-party sites and never found a better rate than the hotel’s own website. The rates dropped several times after I made the reservation, and each time it just took a quick call to Mandalay Bay to get the new rate. On one occasion, rates for some days dropped while others rose, and Mandalay Bay kindly allowed me to adjust only the days that had gone down. Our average nightly room rate ended up being $157 (including a busy weekend). Mandalay Bay reservations staff were always pleasant and professional. The only thing I would do differently next time is make reservations at two hotels, so I could pick the one that ended up being the best value.

We arrived at the hotel just before 3:00, and our room was ready. As we requested, it had a king bed. It was on the 23rd floor with a nice view of the pool, part of the airport, and the mountains. The higher you are, the better the view. We never noticed noise from the airplanes.

The room was large for a Las Vegas room (i.e., average size for a standard hotel room anywhere but LV or San Francisco). Décor was understated, aside from the tropical print bedspread and curtains (which are not as gaudy as they appear in pictures). The furnishings and carpet weren’t brand-new, but they were in good shape. The room was nicely equipped with two large closets that lighted up when the doors were opened, each containing a fluffy robe and slippers and a few hangers. There were 6 drawers in the TV armoire, and one in each bedside table. There was a small digital safe (only about 3 inches deep) in one closet. Like most Vegas rooms, there was no coffeemaker; I bring my own. We especially enjoyed the TV channel that showed Shark Cam, live from the Shark Reef aquarium at Mandalay Bay.

The bathroom was majestic! Large for a standard LV bathroom, with twin sinks, soaking tub and separate glass-enclosed shower, hairdryer, and a separate closet for the toilet. The toilet closet even had its own phone, but sadly we never had occasion to use it. There was a little mildew in one corner of the shower. And the housekeepers apparently don’t wipe the counter regularly, since toothpaste marks stayed near the sinks until I wiped them up myself. The bathroom was kept generally clean, though. Every day they left all kinds of toiletries, either Bulgari or L’Oceano brand: soaps, shower gel, shower cap, lotion, sewing kit, bath salts, shampoo, and conditioner.

We often had trouble getting enough towels. They never left us more than three, which is one less than I would hope for at a 4-star hotel. One day we had no face cloths, and another day they only left a single clean towel! On Friday, we returned to the room at 4:00 looking forward to a nice soak in the tub before a big night on the town. The room had not been cleaned, but the cart was just a few rooms away and the guest services book said rooms were cleaned by 4:30. I didn’t want to get in the tub with the housekeeper about to come in, so I gave up the idea of my relaxing soak and just waited for fresh towels. The guest services book said to call for room cleaning at a specific time, so I called and asked that our room be cleaned next and they agreed. At 4:30, the room was still not cleaned and the cart had vanished from the floor. I called and asked for just some towels, emphasizing that we had dinner and show reservations, and needed to clean up right away. When Housekeeping stopped answering their phone, I called the front desk and was told that rooms are cleaned by 6:00; the clerk seemed surprised to hear that the room book said 4:30. She did refund half the night’s room charge, but I would rather have had towels and no stress than a rebate. After the last call failed to produce any towels, we finally used dirty towels. Clean towels eventually arrived… after we were all showered, dressed, and on our way out. It was not a pleasant, relaxing preparation for our night out! Another night, we called for towels and they didn’t arrive for an hour. One bedside light bulb burned out and was never replaced. The room was mostly clean, but I would rate the housekeeping at Mandalay Bay below average for a hotel of this class. And yes, we were tipping them.

The Mandalay Bay property overall was wonderful. The casino and public areas were clean, airy, and beautifully decorated. We enjoyed the lounges and restaurants. Complimentary drink service in the casino was fast, and service everywhere on the property was courteous and attentive. I did agree with one drawback I’ve seen mentioned by other reviewers: there are simply not enough elevators for the number of guests. We often had to watch two or three elevators leave because there was no more room inside. A couple of times, we even rode down a floor when we wanted to go up from the casino level, just so we could get in the elevator! People were good-natured about squeezing in as closely as possible, and the inadequate elevators were good icebreakers to get guests talking and joking with each other. I don’t see how this problem could be remedied now that the property is finished, so just be prepared to wait for elevators.

We had to work out every day because the food in Las Vegas is too good! The Mandalay Bay spa people told me it was $28 per person per day to use their gym, or $90 per person for a three-day (consecutive) pass. They also offered a 5-day pass. We found out that THEhotel, a connected hotel on the Mandalay Bay property, has a separate gym and only charges $20 per day, or $45 for three days. We each bought a 3-day pass there, and ended up using them for 7 days. It was a nice gym—kind of weird dull red lighting, but plenty of aerobic machines, and wonderful strength training stations-- a brand called Life Fitness Signature Series that was just fantastic. They supply bottled water, towels, lockers, and nice changing facilities with complimentary toiletries. Each aerobics machine has its own satellite TV screen. They supply headphones, but women and small men might want to take their own. I’m 5’8” and have never thought that my head is freakishly small, but their headphones were huge on me and wouldn’t stay on my head.

The pools at Mandalay Bay are just as beautiful as they look in pictures, and we especially enjoyed the lazy river and wave pool. However… I probably wouldn’t book Mandalay Bay again just for the pools. Even though they were beautiful, the beach areas were terribly crowded, and there was no shade. They have too many cabanas that were mostly empty because they cost so much, but they did not have enough free loungers for the number of guests. They need to either charge a reasonable price for cabanas so more people can use them, and/or remove some of the unused ones to provide adequate space and shade for the guests who don’t rent a cabana. We had no trouble getting towels by the pool, but we did hear other guests complaining furiously about them running out of towels one afternoon. A tip for the pools: if you want inflatable tubes, bring your own. They were renting heavy-duty ones for $20 per day, or selling cheap ones (the kind that cost $3 at Target) for $10. Lots of people had their own, and they will blow them up for you. You are not allowed to use floats in the wave pool, and you must keep your feet on the ground in the wave pool or a lifeguard will chastise you.

Overall, we enjoyed Mandalay Bay. We liked our room and thought the property was lovely, with good service, and a fair value for the price. The only drawbacks were the problems with housekeeping, and the crowding at the pool. These were significant issues for us, but should be easy for Mandalay Bay to fix. We would stay there again if we felt that these issues had been addressed.

Stayed at TheHotel for 129 the first night and the second night free. Rooms starting to show some wear, but very nice. A separate living room, bedroom, and 1 1/2 bathrooms. 3 tv's. The cafe very nice. Lot's of shampoos, soaps, sewing kits, shoe shine, and other ammenities. I would stay again if I could get the same deal. Not worth 259 a night, unless you got a lot of cash.

Mandalay Bay

Date Visited: 02/06 - Good Visit

Septemeber 2008 we stayed in the Mandalay bay Hotel 3 times in the one month on the third visit we had to change from the first room because of burning electrical smell, the second non smoking room had some one who had smoked in the restroom toilet, the staff ahd tried to hide it up with bleech.

The third room was clean and had fresh odour aboit it. The shower had a bad odour ot it, the left wardrobe door catch was defective allowing door to open and the wardrobe light to come on during the night, the corking in the shower was loose.

The buffet food was excellent, the made to meal pasta dishes were cooked to perfection, we used the raffles restaurant once for an order of chicekn sandwiches, they were both over cooked and the chips were limp. Is that a man thing me thinks.

Now the new pools are excellent, how ever they are so successful it is difficult to find a place to park your sun seaking body. The wave pool is excellent for children there are about 5 pools in total each offering you lots of choices.

Even though this last visit was a big dissapointment in many ways changing rooms 3 times was very frustrating I still think it is the best hotel on the strip. Reception can be very stressful when it gets full of people to check in to the rooms. But the reception staff were as usual very good at doing their job as well as room service and also room maintenance.

We have also stayed in the Mandalay bay Hotel again October 2007 also Feb 2005 we found it be very spacious, clean, bright, very well professional run hotel. The best air quality of all the hotels. Some hotels on the strip we found were like walking in old cigarrette ash trays.

In the Mandalay bay Hotel we were treated coureously at every level. Staff were very helpful and exceeded all our exspectations. We were even able to move rooms for our conveniece and to get a better view and take better pictures and there were no complications.

The food was excellent yet a little costly. The chairs in the buffet restaurant were so solid and heavy it scratched their flooring? Children will need assistence with seating. The hotel is very large and children need to be escorted even at the pool areas.

The wave pool is excellent which is one of the 5 pools they ahve now. If you select dates mid weeks can be very good value for money. Even though it was an expensive stay for us being retired. I would say staying at the Mandalay bay Hotel was money well spent. Just for the expereince of the very best.

In season I can imagine it will be very busy and crowded and air quailty not quite so good. I am Asthmatic and have visted most of the hotels on the strip this is the best we expereinced. They will have non smoking gambling tables if you ask. Restaurants are now non smoking areas. If 2 or more people travel it is best to get taxi to the hotel, coach not good value unless you are on your own.

The rooms were spacious bright and clean. The rooms were done well. bath tubs are for short people for sure? Glass cased shower was nice. 2 basins which saves fights? TV sets are good now. Views from hotel on higher levels a little more expensive yet well worth the investment.

One restauraunt is open 24 hours a day which is very useful. The steak I had was over done. But quality good. Many varied restaurants with eastern food selections. Though buffet has many choices. I think once you stay in this hotel you will be spoiled. It has a grand feel to it. A hotel with a luxury quailtiy about it.

Most of the hotels on the strip smell like old ash trays. It is a shame that cigar smokers are allowed to ruin the quailtiy of air in such a nice place? Stay in this hotel will not be forgotten for sure. It is a classic hotel. Graceful and welcoming.

This was my 3rd time staying at this resort and everytime the stay is great. Rooms are nice and clean. They have English, Spanish and Chinese channels. The casino had my wife's fav slots until MGM switched em. My wife loves the washrooms. The beach is just amazing. It was 24 degrees in November so the beach was kept open. The Mandalay Spa is just the best. The buffet was great. Rooms were cheap for only $99 and you get dining credit and 1/2 price of spa. What more can you ask for from a first rate resort. The buffet service was way better than Bellagio. Line up was shorter and fast. The food was well prepared. I will be going back again in January.

My first visit to Vegas on a "business" trip to a healthcare convention and we stayed at TheHotel at Mandalay Bay. The rooms were magnificent, like nothing I had ever seen before. The living room was so plush and comfortable; the couch was as comfy as the beds. 42" plasma, wet bar, floor to ceiling windows and a half bath..that was only the first room. The bedroom had 2 super plush Queen beds ( 1 King if you get a corner suite), a huge entertainment center with 2 closets on each side and a continuation of the floor to ceiling windows. The bathroom was the best. Huge double bowl vanity, a soaking tub with waterfall water dispense that was so huge I had to turn the water off before the level went above my head. A seperate glass shower with black granite walls on 2 sides and the most awesome shower head and not to mention the flat screen lcd on the wall. The rooms may be a little pricey, but we were on the 31st floor with a Strip view and the window blinds stayed open all week. The Luxor was like a night light everynight and we could see all the way to the Stratosphere like it was next door. My wife and I are planning a trip already next year and I'm not even going to consider another hotel. This truly made Vegas what I thought it would be.

One of the best staffs in Vegas. They know how to treat their players. The casino is expansive and laid out so it seldom feels crowded. Dining is a treat not only in Mandalay but also in the Luxor, which is an easy walk across Mandalay Place. The pool is the best in town.

My wife and I stayed at the Mandalay for 4 nights and enjoyed every minute!

We asked to be upgraded to a room with a view of The Strip and the reception staff were more than happy to oblige. The view from our room on the 32nd floor was spectactular by day and even more so by night!

The facilities at the Mandalay are second to none, boasting several restaurants and shops to choose from. The entertainment in the lounge bars was first class. The casino was kind to us, both on the tables and the slots paying two $800 winners!

All in all, our stay at the Mandalay was one to remember and we look forward to a return visit in the not too distant future!

This was our first stay at Mandalay even though we have eaten at Red Square and The Rum Jungle many times. We go to Vegas 2-3 times a yr and have stayed at several strip hotels. The Aladin has always been a favorite because of the value, strip/fountain view rooms, breakfast buffet, and great location. It will be difficult for us to try another hotel after staying at Mandalay! We were there for 4 nights and the only "thumbs down" we can give it is the check-in counter. The line was long and slow moving but... they up graded us. We were told that they had no more king rooms and wanted to put us in a room with 2 queens. We said no. The manager came over and put us in a penthouse room on the 60th floor! The windows were floor to ceiling and the veiw breathtaking! Service was excellent, casino clean, and what can we say about the pool! It is a must see to believe! All the great things about this hotel more than make up for it's poor location at the end of the strip. It's a long walk, especially in July, to the other end. (We only went as far as TI.) We are going back to Vegas in October. We will be staying at Mandalay Bay!

There is no better place to stay in Vegas! The pools are fabulous! Let's face it ---- you can't gamble 24-7 so hang by the pool during the day and catch some sleep and party at night!

Last time (June 2005) in Vegas, I checked out Fremont Street. It was pretty cool, but the casino's are sure skanky compared to Mandalay Bay or any of the other casino's on the strip for that matter! When I got back to the Bay (after leaving Fremont Street) it felt great! Clean and elegant! Not overly crowded! If you like crowds - stay somewhere else! If you like luxury at competitive price, stay at the Bay!

The cafe, "Raffles" is open 24 hours and serves fantastic food! Large portions - reasonably priced! I thought all food in Vegas was great until I ate at a casino on Fremont Street last visit- YUCK! Eat at Mandalay Bay ---- you can't go wrong!

This is my fourth time staying at Mandalay Bay, but first time with my wife. It was also our first trip away from the kids. We had a fabulous time here and definitely would stay again. Their rooms are definitely some of the nicest on the strip and they put us on the 29th floor. We arrived a little early, but they checked us in quickly. We spent quite a bit of time in the pool area, which has to be the best on the strip. The wave pool is cool, along with the lazy river. Plus there are several other pool areas you can choose from, and if you stay at "The Hotel", you get your own pool area.

We also went and saw "Mama Mia" at the Mandalay Bay Theatre, which is a must see. After the play we went up for drinks at Mix, which is located on the top floor of "The Hotel". What a fantastic view of the stip from Mix and if you get there before 10 p.m., you can avoid the 20 cover charge. Lastly, we stayed up late everynight, drinking, listening and dancing to the band in the Coral Reef bar.

We stayed at the main property at Mandalay Bay for 2 nights. We booked several months ago and were able to get our room for $129/nt (which later became a $300/nt room and then SOLD OUT!). Upon arrival, we requested a high floor and were given a room on the 32nd floor overlooking the pool. It was lovely. The bathrooms are wonderful for two people since you each get a sink and there is a separate soaking tub and shower. The rooms are spacious and you never feel like you're tripping over each other. The mattresses were firm and lovely and I slept very soundly. I recommend the gorgeous spa at Mandalay. I had the hot stone deep tissue massage with Dawn and I feel like a new person! With a spa treatment, you also get use of the spa services for the day, so I also took advantage of the steam room (which no one else was even in!) and the tranquil, relaxing jacuzzi baths. So relaxing! I accidentally left my sunglasses in a locker and the spa staff found them and called me. They are sending them to me! Even though the pool was crowded, I was able to find a nice lounger by a palm tree and the cocktail servers were very quick in taking my pina colada order. I like the Mandalay's vibe, since I'm not there to necessarily play craps 24/7 and prefer a glamourous, mellow Vegas stay. Next time, I want to try THEHotel.

Mandalay Bay

Date Visited: 03/05 - Good Visit

I stayed here in 1/05 and again in 3/05. In January, our visit coincided with a huge Verizon convention so we were upgraded to Honeymoon Suites which were awesome. I've read that Mandalay Bay has the best bathrooms on the strip and I believe it. Excellent soaking tub. The room itself was large with a so-so view(westward, so we saw THE Hotel and the Orleans). I was surprised to find several $5 Blackjack tables during the morning hours which is when I do my gambling(of course they were gone by the late afternoon). In my opinion the Sportsbook here is the best on the strip. No complaints and an upgrade=a favorable visit.

The second visit in March was also good. The Desk Clerk asked if I would like to try one of the House of Blues rooms. If you are asked, say yes. There is no extra charge and the rooms are way up on the 34th floor. I haven't seen a regular room yet but I assume that the House of Blues floor is like all of the others except that the rooms are decorated differently. I don't know how to describe them but if you see them, you'll say "Yep, thats the House of Blues alright". They told me it was a partial strip view and it was but it was mostly a great view of McCarren field which I really dug. Once again, they did have two or so $5 blackjack tables in the morning hours. Once again, no complaints. Really enjoyed myself. From now on, when I go to Vegas, Mandalay Bay will be my first choice hotel(use to be Luxor. Not a knock on them, still like the joint) if I can afford the rates. When I went in January it was two nights at 139 and 149. In March it was 3 nights at 119. I reckon thats not too bad considering the quality. Of course, on the more expensive nights, you can count me out.

1/08 spent 2 nights at THE hotel which was the nicest room I have ever stayed in. It is isolated from the rest of the resort but I guess that's part of the plan. 2 room suite, bath and a half,"wet bar",2 big tvs,Small screen tv in the john, big comfortable bed and big sitting area couch. When I stayed here it was $169 a night for 2 nights and this was as cheap as it ever got. In 2 weeks I will be staying there for $75 a night for 3 nights. I know the recession has hit room rates in Vegas but $75 a night at this place is obscenely cheap by anybody's standards. The Wynn,Bellagio and the Venetian haven't come down nearly as much as THE hotel and the rooms here are nicer than either Bellagio or Venetian (haven't stayed at the Wynn). Anyone else remember when Mandalay Bay never went below $109 for a standard room(now available for $65 or so)? Its a beautiful time to be going to Vegas!

Excellent visit. I was in one of the House of Blues rooms too. Its no different than the regular rooms except for the decor. That and the fact that the rooms occupy the 34th floor. Great strip view. I ,too, was surprised to see $5 tables. I didn't even ask what the minimum for comps was(figuring that if it was $25 at Luxor and $10 at Excalibur......) and I guess I'm glad I didn't. But being a $5-10 bettor myself, I don't see much in the way of comps so no big deal. I have labeled their slots tight myself but on this trip I broke even. Not that I expect to again, just that it does happen. Love the place. If I can get low rates(<$140) I'll definitely stay there again.

My boyfriend and I were staying at New York, New York, and decided to see the show "Mama Mia." We went the night of January 8, 2005. After the show, which was wonderful, we decided to stop in the Island Lounge for a drink. The place was pretty packed, but we found a table and waited for a waitress. Well after about 15 minutes and no sign of a waitress, my boyfriend went up to the bar to order our drinks. Well the bartenders wouldn't even give him the time of day! In the meantime, a waitress showed up at our table. I informed her that we hadn't seen any sign of a waitress and my boyfriend had gone to the bar. She said she would check back with us. Well, since the bartenders wouldn't even take our order we waited at our table for the waitress. I believe her name was "Michelle"..a blonde who never smiled and acted like she was "put out" to even help anyone. We waited and waited, and notice everyone around us had drinks but us. Finally, this waitress showed back up and took our order. About 30 or 40 minutes later, she showed up with our drinks and took my boyfriends credit card. Well that was the last we saw her! My boyfriend tracked her down and demanded his credit card back so we could go! We had been there over an hour playing this game! We have stayed at Mandalay Bay before and had a nice time, but unfortunately, we will never go back there again! We were feeling great after seeing a great show and this incident put a damper on the rest of the evening. There are many other fantastic places to stay in Vegas, but Mandalay Bay isn't one of them!

My fiance and I stayed at TheHotel at Mandalay Bay for 5 nights in December, both of us cannot say enough about our visit. Upon check-in the woman at the front desk upgraded us to a corner suite since we were staying for 5 nights, a very nice touch and we made our way up to the room. WOW!! What a room, actualy two of them since you have a living room and a bedroom, and having visited friends staying in other rooms our corner suite was about 50% larger and offered amazing views up the strip. It is in all ways a luxury hotel, 42-inch plasma tv in both rooms, a huge master bath, a second w/c, and a tub truly big enough for two. Yes, it's expensive, but I challenge you to find a room like that for that price in any other major city.

My only complaints aren't towards TheHotel, but to Mandalay Bay, first the casino is awful, poor service (played 2 hours without being offered a drink), the machines were very tight, and the comp program is worthless. That said, I'd stay here again, but head to Paris or Bellagio to gamble.

stayed from 11/16 thru 11/19. THEhotel was awesome....beautiful room, bathroom, comfortable beds. the view was so-so....having a room on the 11th floor, overlooking the a/c units and roof. room was quiet and cleaned very well every day. there was a plasma screen w/dvd player (bring your own dvd movies and save on the 10.99 a pop pay-per-view films!) in the living room, and tv's in the bedroom and bathroom also. somewhat noisy and crowded in the lobby with annoying techy convention dweebs, and it would have been nice if the store in the lobby sold something other than magazines and soda. just their way of getting you to use the minibar, i suppose. the room service meal (chiliburger and chocolate shake) was out-of-this world. pool was closed, so that was a bummer, too. would highly recommend this place.

This was one bad time . I've stayed at almost every place now and this was the worse due to many things .....Location is one and when you make a trip it might be wish also to give you a room with a view when that is what you asked for . The service was ok but the one thing which ticked me off more then anything was there was no view at all other then the air conditioning unit out the window . The gambling was good and the service on the floor was good but they still have alot of catching up to do when it comes to the Venetian .

I enjoyed my stay at Mandalay Bay. The room was nice though not spectacular. The bathroom in particular is quite nice, and the hotel is very clean. I LOVED the sports book...simply a great layout. The casino area is nice, though minimums are high and rules are not great (but what do you expect for a place at this price point?). Main problem is the location...this place is REALLY far south down the strip. You can take a tram up to Excalibur, but even that is pretty far down. I found myself spending a lot on cabs while I stayed here. In conclusion, a perfectly decent hotel, but if you are the type of person (like me) who wants to be constantly going from one property to the next, Mandalay's lousy location will bug you a bit.

This is a lovely looking hotel but the staff has an "attitude". The walkway to Shark Reef was horrendous and boring; they should build something for visitors to look at. The walk made my feet tired. By the time I got to Shark Reef there was a long line. When finally getting in, I was exhausted so I didn't enjoy it.At the front desk, they hid hotel brochures and maps. I got lost several times. I never did find the garden area where they have waterfalls and statues; nobody would help us. The location is off the beaten track that's why "Fear Factor" often films there.

Stayed at THEHotel 9-6 till 9-10. This is our second visit to this property. Once again THEhotel, wonderful rooms and decor. Service was perfect. The design is wonderful, when you walk from the casino to the THEHotel, it makes you feel that you are walking into another work.

Bad thing, topless /adult pool closed after labor day for the season.

You are also in the Hotel that offers the best show in town (mama Mia), casino is not crowded, very nice and you now have the new mall. The chocolate swan and art of shaving are nice shops.

At $159.00 per night, not too bad (much cheaper than chicago rates). Also do not forget to get to Lawry's prime rib.

I stayed at Mandalay Bay from Sept. 10th to Sept 13. On September 11th someone had broke into my room stealing suitcases, clothes, cell phones everything. I had asked the maid who cleaned our room 3 hrs before we knew it had been broken into if she had seen our suitcases ect. She said she didn't see them, after talking with her manager as he was walking down the hallway she told him she did see all of our belongings. We got hotel security involed, they are very rude. They acted like I was trying to scam them or something, or I was playing a joke. My friend and I probably lost over $6000.00 worth of stuff. I have been dealing with Guest relations for 2 weeks now. I talked to the hotel manager the day it happened. I looked him straight in the face and asked him if he could do anything for us , his reply "NO" I still am arguing with them about my belongings. It is a nice hotel, BUT SHITTY SERVICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will never recommend this hotel to anyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My son and his friends recently stayed at the hotel, 9-10 and 9-11-04. Their room was robbed while they were at the pool. Everything was taken, they had no clothes but the swimsuits. The hotel refused to help them, left them in the same room that was robbed. They refused to let them look at the security tapes to identify who took the luggage out of the room. They did not comp them the room charge for that day. They have been uncooperative, and rude at every conversation. The "Guest Relations" department, who is supposed to help you at a time like this does not work weekends or evenings. It took over a week and a half to get the report from Security to Guest Relations, and they are in the same building! We are still trying to get them to accept responsibility for a customers safety in their hotel, but no luck so far. My son and his friend lost over $6000.00 worth of luggage, clothing, cell phones, work lap top computers, suits, and shoes. I would suggest going to any other hotel there, try the Venetian. At least they care about your safety and have people there to help you if you have a problem.

Stayed at THEhotel from August 15-August 19, 2004:

Checking into THEhotel was fast although there were only rooms with 2 queen beds available and we had requested a King. No biggie, had the clerk put us on the list to change rooms in the morning. This was the best check in we've ever had. Very nice woman who didn't treat us like idiots for not being of "mature" age or looking like we are made of $. She also recognized us and inquired about our stay and our room when she saw us the next day.

THEhotel lobby is amazing. Huge foyer. All done in black marble and dark woods with simple white flowers and mirrors as accents. The room has to have been the nicest I've ever stayed in anywhere. Our basic room consisted of a living room, bedroom and 2 bathrooms. It was all in dark woods so it was somewhat dark in the room, but still lovely. Had 3 tvs - a plasma in the living room, 36" flat-screen in the bedroom and 14" flat-screen in the main bathroom. There was a cd/dvd player with the plasma. Other nice touches - a wet bar in the living room, robes and slippers, lots of good froo-froo in the bathroom (ie soaps, bath salts, etc), an electronic weigh scale and night light in the bathroom, soft and fluffy towels, lots of paper, pens writing pads, etc and a desk with fax/printer. The beds were great - very comfortable with big squishy duvets. There is a door bell with an electronic 'do not distrurb' and 'housekeeping requested' sign. Another nice touch, the newspaper is delivered to the door every morning. (We were out late enough that it was usually there when we came to retire for the night).

The view we had for the queen room was of the mountains to the west. Fortunately, when we moved to the king bed room the next morning, we had a decent view of the strip from the 36th floor. Either we had quiet neighbours or the walls are thick enough that we never heard any noise from outside the room. Didn't even hear anything when we moved rooms and were told that we may hear construction noise due to the restaurant they are putting in on the top floor. It was no difficulty to move rooms, just a "yes sir" and a bell boy was up to our room with a new key in no time.

Pool was quite crowded but not too bad, possibly because we were not there on the weekend. Best advice: stay away from the wave pool and lazy river. This is where all the kids are. (Urgh! kids in Vegas... :( )

Did not play in the Mandalay casino much due to what we'd heard about tight slots and poor comps. It was not very busy in there at all.

Ate at Red,White and Blue - was a pretty good place for sandwiches. Also had the privilege of going up to the House of Blues Foundation Room on Tuesday night. This is a private club (open to the public on Monday nights) on the top floor of Mandalay Bay. Great place! This has got to be THE BEST view of the strip in Vegas.

Overall, a great stay. We are definitely spoiled now. The nicest rooms and best service we've ever had in Vegas (have stayed Mandalay Bay, Aladdin and Luxor). Would stay again if the price was right (rates are significantly higher on the weekends - beyond our means)

Feel free to e-mail if you have any specific questions.

Interesting thing I forgot to mention: everything in THEhotel is called THEsomething. There was a sticker on the toilet paper - THEtp. On the robes - THErobe. On the writing paper - THEdoodle pad. Too freaking funny!

Stayed at THE Hotel 7/25-27. The suite was very impressive, much better than others. THE Hotel is on the opposite side of the resort away from the crowds staying at the Mandalay Bay. Overall, we enjoyed our stay--even won some money.

However, although I played over $50 a hand for over 9 hours during our 2-day stay, the casino refused to comp any food charges or room charges. VIP services explained that, under their new policy instituted in June 2004, you had to play $200 a hand 4 hours a day to qualify for comps. Needless to say, we were quite disappointed with this policy. We have always enjoyed staying at the Mandalay Bay. However, with their new policy, we likely will not return, but rather will take our gambling dollars to other hotels, such as the Venetian.

We just returned from a glorious stay at THEhotel at Mandalay Bay. What an experience!!! From the time you are dropped at the entrance, the excellent service begins....and does not end!! The entry to the property is amazing....soaring ceilings, unique ultra-modern decor. Check-in was amazingly easy....the desk personnel were very cordial and pleasant. You then pass through a most spectacular elevator lobby.

It's difficult to describe the suites. Trust me....when you first enter, your jaw will drop. Unlike some other "suites" on the strip, this has 3 distinct, separate spaces. The living room is superb in both decor and amenities. A 42" plasma television? A desk with data port & printer/fax? Not to mention the decor of the room....very chic but comfortable. It's also nice to have the wet bar...nice touch. The bedroom is extremely comfortable & tastefully decorated. Another flat-screen TV is hidden in the cabinetry. The bed is the most comfortable bed we've ever had in a hotel. Then, there's the bath. A HUGE tub (easily fits two people) and a magnificent marble shower. Granite counters with 2 sinks. And a plasma TV. Just the fact that you have this wonderful bathroom AND a 1/2 bath in the entryway is astounding.

We phoned for our reservation in February, getting a great rate of $169. That's a regular room rate at Mandalay Bay.

The only problem with THEhotel is that we're spoiled for any other hotel in Vegas or elsewhere. When we return to Vegas, THEhotel is the only place for us!!

Not sure of some of the ratings I see here. The Mandalay Bay is a great property. I stay at theHOTEL and will continue to do so as the suites are amazing plus they have Starbukcs in the lobby. Let's start with the room. A 2 room suite, 2 bathrooms, modern everything, 2 42 inch plasma TVs plus another 14 inch plasma in the bathroom. Glass enclosed shower and big tub. Bedding thick and heavy...you can melt there if you want. Big windows and view is good down the strip. Onto the property. The Beach is unbelievable. You have 11 acres with a huge beach that has a wave pool, 2 other smaller pools for intimacy and a lazy river pool. You have a restaurant and bar nearby plus easy access to the other restaurants just off the pool area. If you don't spend time at the pool, you're crazy. Even in summer, hit the pool area in the morning for a few hours. Next, the spas. Mandalay has a regular Spa and theHOTEL has another. Upscale and good. Full treatments for anyone. Expensive but totally worth it. Next, the casino. It's not cramped like other casinos and not smokey. The race and sportsbook is not crowded either. Slots are hardly used but c'mon, don't come to Vegas to play slots please! The comps are fantastic if you play horses as you will get 4% cash back. The comps on table games are in line with other casinos with the comp card. My wife and I stayed 5 days and were comped about $800 worth of spa treatments and hotel costs. Onto the restaurants. You have like 4 world class restaurants on the property that blows Bellaggio's doors off. Try the steak at 3950. Lastly, the people. Everyone I see working there is friendly. On the people who come to Mandalay. Most are great looking and young. The Venitian and the Bellagio have your old folks and Mandalay gets all the hotties. Great eye candy even if you're married. So, hit the beach, grab a Starbucks, watch awesome TV in a great bed late night, check out the great restaurants and enjoy a sick time at Mandalay. I'm there every year.

Stayed at Mandalay Bay week of May 9th. We got the room for $119/night; I thought it was a great value for an excellent hotel. Our room had an awesome view of the pool area. The bathroom was beautiful; nice oversized tub to soak in after walking the strip. Room service was very friendly and left us lots of amenities. The weather was hot, so the pool area was crowded but we always managed to find some chairs. Don King walked by while I was sitting in the jacuzzi!! Thought that was cool. I like the fact that the elevators are near the entrance to the pool so I didn't have to walk through the casino in my bathing suit. I would definately stay here again.

just returned from a four night stay. second time visiting hotel. tried to check in at 11:35am told to come back at 12 and line up. requested adjoining rooms, basically forced to take upgrade to a suite($35 additional per night) was not worth the upgrade. got great rate of $109 per night before upgrade. got ninth floor strip view. Rooms were supposed to be non-smoking, the people before us obviously smoked and partied big time. took housekeeping almost an hour to clean room. i requested to be moved, no more rooms in the hotel and i was not able to get into our room until 4pm. not a good way to start and of course the room smell lingered for our entire stay. ate in raffles and noodle shop, ok, not great. had a great group of crap dealers(lenny from brooklyn and patrick from great neck) alot of fun playing with these guys. no problem with the elevators. use the west valet, the best service guys and gals in the place. we could not get over the number of working girls in this hotel at all hours of the day and night. not impressed with the mandalay shops and of course could not get near the pool, very crowded due to the beautiful weather, low 80's. first experience here was much better and of course the easter/passover/spring break times made this a very busy season. may try another facility next time out.

Ate at buffet great selections. Casino was good to us, very well laid out...Great selection of restaraunts and bars/clubs within hotel....Only complaint I have was they have 8 elavators in main elevator area and seems like only 2 were woking at any given time...Somewhat inconvenient, but I have found a new home in Las Vegas...Mandalay Bay is now my number one choice for hotel

I know that Las Vegas isn't for children, but I must say that they really make it know that children are unwelcome. The service was terrible. The food was mediocre at best and the idea of waiting an hour before the Mandalay "Beach" opened up to grab a lousy pool chair in an overcrowed pool area was rediculous. Plus, the staff at the pool were very unhelpful. We thought we would try to rent a cabana so we didn't have to go through the torture of waiting an hour in line to get a chair, but instead we had to wait 45 minutes on the phone for the staff to tell us that there weren't any cabanas left. Then it cost $20 each to rent a pool tube for the lazy river which was also way overcrowded. It was a traffic jam.

Also, when we went to dinner at the China Grill, they saw that we had a child so they sat us in the back near the kitchen door. I am not kidding. What an insult. Our son is a well behaved 9 year old. Who are they to judge what his behavior will be like?

We did enjoy Mama Mia and a concert at the House of Blues. But the only people who were polite to us were the people who worked at the Chocolate Swan. They actually smiled and spoke to us.

Word of advice. Don't bring your kids to Vegas. They really don't want to see them.

Mandalay Bay

Date Visited: 04/04 - Undecided

We had the same deal pulled on us that I've read in a previous review saying to me this must be a regular thing at Mandalay Bay. We arrived an hour before check-in and were told after a 45-minute wait in line that it would be a couple hours before our room was ready, OR we could pay another $30 a night for a room that was ready now with a view of the strip. Makes me wonder if there really were any standard rooms available. After flying halfway across the country and going through all the usual airport hassles, who wants to hang out for a couple of hours to get their room? We took the strip view room and were already disenchanted. There was never an "I'm sorry." Yes, the view was nice, the bathrooms large, the beds comfortable, but the room size is about average, certainly not large. The shower backed up the very first day. You'd think the housekeeper would have noticed. It backed up all the way into the tub. What a mess. They arrived in about an hour to fix it. The only place we saw anyone who worked at the hotel smile or be friendly was the drink servers in the Bay Side Buffet. They did a great job even though the food was very overpriced. Raffles we liked much better even though the servers here didn't want to be bothered. The food was good and at a reasonable price. The casino is beautiful, but slots tight and the table limits high. Shark Reef was another overpriced attraction. It's worth around $5-$6, but they charge $16. I couldn't figure out what they were doing with their tram to Luxor and Excalibur. Often, but not always, you could not take the express tram TO Excalibur, only FROM Excalibur. So, you wait with hordes of people taking the local to Luxor and then on to Excalibur, they pack them in like a New York subway, and then you watch as the 2nd empty tram passes you on its way to Excalibur. I guess they want you to be as miserable as possible if you leave Mandalay Bay. Whatever the reason, it was really ticking people off, myself included. Architecturally, this is certainly a beautiful hotel and if you like gourmet food, they have plenty of restaurants here for you. I stayed here because I attended a conference here, but I don't think I'd stay here again at my own expense.

Had a great stay at Thehotel at Mandalay Bay(Thurs.-Sat.) Check-in was very fast and although check-in time wasn't until 4 pm, we were given a room when we arrived at 12 noon.Never a long wait at the elevators even though hotel was full. The room was the best, as described in previous posts. We did have a view of the strip-floor to ceiling windows in both livingroom and bedroom. Beds were sooo comfortable. Yes, the color scheme is on the dark side, but it was very relaxing after all the noise and lights of Vegas. The staff were very good at the front desk, coffeeshop, and thecafe in the lobby. Front desk even printed out our boarding passes for us for our flight home. I thought the casino was nicely laid out and easy to find your way around. The only complaint here would be the crowds at the pool. The pool opened at 9 am. We found that you did not have to wait in line for an hour before it opened. Both days we got there at 9:30 and easily found a chair. However, by 10 all chairs were taken, and there was a constant stream of people roaming around looking.Water was on the cool side, and waves in wave pool very small.I would definetly stay at Thehotel again.

Mandalay Bay

Date Visited: 04/04 - Good Visit

Stayed 3 nights from 4/15 thru 4/18. I was able to check in around noon without being asked to upgrade. Maybe it'sa because I booked thru AAA and was prepaid? Room is big and very nice. Had pool view. The pools are very overcrowded. Too many pools and not enough room for guests. The drink service was horrible poolside. 45 minutes for an over priced Pina Colada is nuts!

Due to my schedule I was only able to eat all my meals at the cafe. Good service and food was OK. Prices are what you would expect from a 4 star hotel. Hotel was nice. House of Blues staff was very good. Saw three great late night shows there and it was an anything goes enviornment. Lots of fun!

Overall the Mandalay Bay is a top hotel and I would go back if I caould get the good rate AAA got me.

Stayed at THE Hotel at Mandalay Bay: Best Room I have ever had in vegas!! 42in Plasma TV in the living room!!! The bathroom is great too! Another plasma TV to watch while soaking in a HUGE bathtub. All service personnel were very very accomidating and friendly. Room service was fast and food was great, even at 3am. I have found a new home while in Vegas.

TheHotel at the Mandalay Bay is a trend of its own. Big suites for great prices. Two restrooms to get ready for dinner was so wonderful. Made things easy. I'll be back for sure. This place is a gold mine, just waiting to be discovered. IT WILL! Use of all the Mandalay Bay as well.

Mandalay Bay

Date Visited: 03/04 - Bad Visit

I have stayed in this hotel three times. Each time the room has been lovely, the restaurants first rate, but the service has been terrible. Mandalay Bay has the most rude and incompetent people who work there. I keep expecting that the bad service will get better - after all, it's a very expensive hotel. It has not - as a matter of fact, it's only gotten worse. I don't know how they'll run a second hotel when they can't competently run the first one! Once can only imagine that they must pour all their efforts into their high rollers - because lord knows they don't give a damn about us common folk! My advice to you: save your money and stay for half the price next door at the Luxor if you need to be in that area, or spend it on any of the other strip hotels. Next time I want to be treated like dirt, I'll save the money and stay at a Motel 6 instead of the Mandalay Bay. At least Motel 6 doesn't pretend to be something it's not. SAVE YOUR MONEY - STAY ELSEWHERE.

Room sevice and the maids were the best of any hotel that we have stayed at so far. The rudeness of the check-in lady was not expected. If she was too busy to do her job, then she should move on to another occupation that she would enjoy. However, the lady that checked us out was most pleasant. No accomidations for early morning tours leaving the Mandalay Bay to get a cup of coffee without being subjected to the rudeness of the bartender that was in control of the coffee pot at the bar. Valet service was excellent and accomidating. Beautiful casino, not sure the aquarium was worth the price of admittance. The buffet was good with choices not available at other buffets on the strip, however, we only ate there once as found better selections and prices at other casinos on the strip. Shops were interesting, however they pale in comparison to the Aladdin and some others on the strip. Great place to stay on the strip, but just sleep there and move on to other casinos for gambling, entertainment and dining.

Staying at this hotel was a dissapointment. I had wanted to stay here for some time so we finally did. It was very average, I enjoyed Treasure Island, Mirage and even Ballys more. The service was average. There was nothing that special about the room and the elevators took forever... The pool was packed to the gills and we had to search for 45 minutes to get 2 lounge chairs. I would recommend staying elsewhere because of the price of this hotel (We paid $109 a night). You can stay at a nicer hotel for a cheaper price.

Mandalay Bay

Date Visited: 02/04 - Good Visit

We stayed at TheHotel at Mandalay Bay 2/04. This was our 10th visit and the first time for us to stay at TheHotel. We have stayed at Mandalay Bay many times (along with Luxor, Exclaibur (that place was awful), MGM Grand, Aladdin, Mirage and Treasure Island) and Mandalay Bay has always been our favorite. We were really excited to stay at TheHotel after reading reviews of the room and service. When you walk into this extension of Mandalay Bay you feel like you are in a different world. The colors are rich, the decor is sophisticated, it's quiet and they even have fresh flowers through they foyer.

I could go on and on about why you should stay here but I'll try to limit to a few of their best features. First, the service is top notch. Everyone from checking in, room service, bell hop, housekeeping and valet was superb. We stayed for 5 nights and each time we went to the valet they greeted us by name. Second, the rooms are amazing. You can't beat a flat screened plasma TV in the bathroom, a seperate living area and another half bath. The bed was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in.

The beauty of this hotel is that you are only steps away from MB's casino, shops, Mandalay Place and the resturants. We enjoy MB's casino the best (they don't use automatic shufflers for blackjack) and we were greeted by a casino host that gave us wonderful comps.

We concluded this stay with a two night stay at Treasure Island in one of their "Tower Suites" and it was a nightmare. We longed to go back to MB but they had a convention and were sold out. Read the review at Treasure Island to learn why you should NOT stay there!
